Brother Zephyl
Quest NPC
Brother Zephyl in Rathe Mountains wants the Idol of Zan Fi, which is in the possession of Brother Raster, who spawns in the Mino Elders room in Lower Guk. Returning this Idol, plus a red sash, results in a special tailoring pattern.
Brother Zephyl is one of those NPCs who has been tuned such that you are not really supposed to kill him.

We killed him last night and there was no faction hit. Dropped the robe.

He may have been tuned DO NOT KILL, but many will kill him. If someone is looking for the J-Boots they need to kill him because Hasten (Guy who you get the J-Boots from) will not spawn unless Brother Zephyl is dead. He can despawn but it happens randomly and can take many hours.

Not sure anymore. He DID drop it as of last night when my guild took him down. But I heard a rumor that it was to change in today's patch (which is why we rushed to kill him last night). Also another note. He's not level 60 (at least the spawn we got wasn't). He conned red to our level 58 mage. So he was 61 or higher. I'm betting he was 61. He could very well have been 62 or 63 though (I doubt he'd be any higher than that... but you never know).

Brother Z does still drop the robe. My guild, along with another ally guilds, killed him just last night.

I've seen Shadow Tribe whack this sucker a few times...who knows how many other big guilds on mith have nailed him....saw a monk get his robe so it still drops.....

My RL friend said that his guild got together and did kill him and he said he also dropped the RotLC

Yes he has been killed, I've assisted in killing him. He hits for around quad 350 and does drop the RotLC, needed one to replace a monks RotWF who was getting CFs soon.

When i got there it turned out this guy had been up for a couple of hours. Truly, this guy ruined my day. He is very fast like i have "heard" hasten is, and for some weird reason ever now and then it seemed as through he paced back and forth before continuing on. I think this guy should be removed cuz hes nothing more than an annoyance. I don't know a single person who has done his quest. *then again im on vallon so no monks in guk hehe *

Bro- He's one of the most important NPC's in the game for monks. As I type I've been looking for him for 6 hours. Seeing him would MAKE my day.

hehe* /agree this guy is not only a part of the Robe of Lost circle (SWEET and about to finish if this guy would spawn...) the Robe us needed for a even better robe with effect lvl 7 bard song (25% hast, 10ac, 35str if i remember right), since its a bard song the hast stacks with haste items as well as enc / shm haste spells. And this Robe is used into the monk epic so i would not say he is usless ;)

Sorry but you're wrong, you can stack 1 item haste, 1 spell haste, and 1 song haste. However 2 item hastes won't stack... eg if you have a FBSS(21%) and a Hangman's noose (16%), you'll only get the highest of the two. The upgrade to RotLC (Robe of the Whistling Fists) has effect of Jonathon's Whistling Warsong, the bard song, which will stack with both an item haste (FBSS/Hangman's/CoF), and a haste spell from casters. Our epic (Celestial Fists) is an upgrade to RotWF and has the same song effect, plus better stats than the RotWF.

he is ABSOLUTELY a ph for hasten. he is a 4 hour spawn then despawn. also the regular drake is the PH. kill the drake, wait 4 hours for zeph to despawn. hasten'll pop up sometime. took a few hours but i got my jboots.

Where does the drake spawn? Is it in the valley near Ferrott zone?

The drake spawns in the valley, it could possibly run the same route as hasten but when I saw him I wasn't willing to follow him around, so I killed him instead.

From what I've heard, if you get a huge number of people (more then dragon numbers) and just send in a bunch of melee, then heal the hell out of them, he's killable. Hella tough, though. MR is too high to get any spells to stick, and he doesn't drop the robe like he used to, so not much point. Unless you're looking for a challenge after killing the POD :).
Well if you get enough people and heal the hell out of them you can kill anything.

not true.. they key quest guy in PoA is very un kill able, he hits realllly hard, like mulit 1000's i cant rememer exact ammount but ive seen him drop a raid in about 2 seconds flat

Actually, way back when bard charm didn't have a maximum level cap, some bard charmed the key quest guy (Sirran the Lunatic) and used him to kill ALL of the quest djinni down below the first island. It made him KOS to BetaNeutral and ALL of the NPC's in Plane of Air, he had to have a GM reset his factions.

Brother Zephyl would definately win. Priest of Discord hits for 356 4 times at the most, Brother Zephyl's a Monk with Haste, can hit for 350 like 10 times, and flying kick for 700.

Ive tried every sites beastiary and quest page. He is a PH of Hasten bootstrutter. GMs say he will despawn on his own. I am wondering HOW LONG IS HIS DESPAWN TIME?!? I sat there all day with him targeted... and he never left.

When I went to get my JBoots, I found that 'a drake' was up. I killed it and then about 15 min later the Brother popped up. I was told that I should just quit and do it another day, but I really wanted the boots. I targetted Zephyl and sat down and watched a movie. Lets just say, the movie ended and Brother was still up. He stayed for over three hours then depopped and up came another drake. After blasting the drake again, up came Hasten.

there is also a Iksar Whisteling Fists Quest. It is unfinished at present, as far as we know anyway. For part of the Quest your are giving a lore item Flute, no one has got futher yet. I am wondering if this has anything to do to produce a different item for monks, perhaps gloves or something

Dont mess with him, he can quad hit for over 300,kill full groups of 50s in under 20seconds, and can run faster then sow or MM drum.
