There are 11 a slithering shade in the underground crypt tunnels in Hills of Shade - 8 static, 3 roaming. The 3 roamers are placeholders for Sorrow. Respawn time 16:20. Indifferent con.

Self-buff with Ethereal Invisibility: Permanent. To view or track you need WIZ MAG 77 Aspect of Zomm, RNG 76 Skylight Sagacity, DRU 77 Sharp Eyes or 87 Eyes of the Winter Hawk. Or use an AE to get aggro. They are social with each other.

As stated below, you can hear these guys. Sounds just like someone is walking by.

Invisible until you do something to sense undead or cast some spell that you don't need to target them i.e. an AE spell.

I was killing crypt denzions at the sothern tunnel with my necro when I realized I needed to kill a few of these guys for the swirling drops so I ran around casting sense undaed to see where they were.

Gads! They all seemed deep in the tunnels but finally some seemed to be not too far in from the main tunnel at the north end, off of the main trail.

I killed down to the first intersection and detected some just to the left. Yes, one was in the little room off to the left. I agroed it and got clobbered, there were like 3 or 4 of these guys that got pulled.

I finally figured out, at least one of these actually walks up almost to the entrance of the tunnel. Just keep the slimes cleared and wait for your mob to come to you. Eaither listen or cast the appropriate spells to make him visible and agro you. I pulled one outside easily enough and killed him.

No mobs wander around the outside of the tunnel but when killing in the south end tunnel area the mobs that wandered off ( i.e. feign death castaways) always seemed to head toward this northern tunnnel so if anyone else is pulling at other tunnels you might get a surprise wander, I domn't really know.

The slimes are not undead so invis works good but pretty much everyone else in the tunnels is undead and will see you with the exception of the slithering shades which take an effot to get them to see you.

I was playing with my friend's shaman too and both our mercenaries are undead. What a pain when I want to sense undead. I had to make myself a puller to they'd stay in one spot.

Note: so far I've gotten 3 swirling shadow essences, one from every kill.

Not sure exactly how but our cleric cast sense undead and spotted them, tank assisted the cleric and got a yellow target ring and could melee attack. They are visible after attacked. The thing walked past us several times as just the target ring, so definitely non KOS. Hope to finish this part tomorrow

Sense Undead works, you just have to be close to one of them to catch them. Because there are so many undead around it might target someone else if you are far away. But if you are standing near one, it will target ring them and you can aggro them. A lot of them stand together in 2's though so watch out. = O

The mage and wizard spell, "Aspect of Zomm rk2" will also see them. Unsure on the rk1 as we picked up the rk2 stuff.

Yeah, actually the entire eye of zomm line can see them, but the monk Astral Projection line does not.
