I found frostbite at -3529, -2192 in WK. He was apprenhensive to me when I gave him the regurgitonic and I still got the fish. Lvl 16 High Elf Enchanter
I have a level 12 enchanter that started doing the stein of moggok quest.
Did the quest once, including the regurgatonic section (which worked), sold the stein and went to try again. Frostbite wasnt interested this time round.
I left it and carried on with my game.
A couple of days later I tried again (still with the regurgatonic) I was in human form, with alliance cast on Frostbite, so I was at Indifferent faction. Still not interested. I petitioned, waited for an hour and logged in an alt. About 30mins later I got a tell from a Guide (they can track characters!) asking if I was still having a problem.
Long story short, too late :), we met up at Frostbite, she tried a couple of things (including insta-killing the mob) and still same. Last we left it was a bug report, and I ended up creating a toon to kill the fish in the pond by the temple of life.
I went back yesterday, still same situation. I was going to try and kick the Koaldinl quest off from the Cleric guild and see if that makes a difference.
I have a level 26 enchanter on Brell Serilis and had done the quest 2 times prior this week. This time Frostbite handed the fish back with the same reply as you received. I was wondering if regurging the fish was set on a spawn clock as well. For all I know, another player could have just been there and gotten the fish before I arrived. I have not yet tried to kill Frostbite as this would produce the same result that you had with the GM, and might be subject to the same fish spawn theory I was concidering. I have not petitioned yet but came here seeking any news first as the information here is usually more accurate than what the GMs know. I will check back here for any news you find or any other insight others might have.
Well I tried again Friday night, the time was 1:05am (GMT) and got the same response as I had received before.
I tried again on Sunday evening, around 9:05pm, still same. I then spoke to Enic Rulkin (name??) in North Qeynos, who is the NPC that gives the Koaldinl quest for the Priests of Life. When I got back to where Frostbite normally is, he was not there. I didnt check to see if anyone had killed the poor mut.
When he popped, a minute or so later, I tried the Regurgatonic again, and still the same response. Getting a little tired of it all now. I guess I will go back to my little shadow knight toon, and kill the fish when needed.
As I was running over to him I right-clicked on the Regurgatonic. Noticing the LORE tag sparked a memory of a spell that a few casters get but seldom use : Identify.
On a whim, I memorised the spell, picked up the tonic and cast it.... Lore Information : Bad Regurgatonic... WTF?!?
I tried again, just incase, still no joy from ol' Frostie, so I destroyed the tonic, went back to Surefall and picked up a new batch of nitrates, bounced back to Ak'Anon (gotta love PoP) and picked up another tonic, cast Identify again... Lore Information : Regurgatonic.
Rushed back to Frostbite, handed the tonic over and bingo, one coughed up fish.
Anyone that is having problems with this quest, if you can cast Identify on the tonic do so and check it, or just scrap it and get a new one.
Maybe the tonic has a shelf/half-life, or maybe the Gnome Zoo keeper hands out duff ones now and again, either way I have another Stein to sell.... see ya in the Bazaar ;)
Thanks for stating something that I hadn't tried yet and haven't heard mentioned on any other board. As it turns out, the Regurgitonic I was carrying was no good either. After getting another one and Identifying it, the quest works for me once again. Thanks again.
Guess I can stop buggin the GMs now. Not like they knew the solution anyway.
i have been trying to do the stien quest for about a week now. talked to a worthless guide and they said all they could do is put a bug report in. aperantly frostbite is curently bugged i hope they fix this soon. the way ya get the fish is goto surefall get the flask from one of the guys in the druid guild not sure what the name is. then take it to the zookeeper in akkanon he gives ya some reguritonic. ya give that to frostbite and he coughs up the fish to take to the guy in EFP.
Frostbite is also part of the stein of moggok quest. Instead of killing the fish in Qeynos or killing Frostbite, you can get the bottle of nitrate from the General Woodon in druid guild in Surfall Glade. Then forget the quest he gives you and take it to the zoo in Ak'anon. the at the bottom give the nitrates to the zookeeper. I forget his name but he's the only gnome at the bottom of the zoo. He will give you Regurgitonic. Give this to Frostbite and He will (throw up) give you the fish every time with his faction and the halas factions going up. you will take the white rose hit though. It takes longer but two quick ports and you do not get the temple of life hits or the halas hit.
Or... rather more simply... make a Shadow Knight in Qeynos... who obviously has his one proc of the day ability to drain life with harm touch... wander into the pool in qeynos, staying clear of the nasty paladin in the pool that will kill you ;-)
Attack a Koahlindl fish(sp?) drain it of its precious little life with your Level 1 SK...
Rent out, delete SK. Log in original character and loot the now sinking fish from the pool.
Takes all of 5 minutes and makes damn sure you dont get any nasty faction hits from the fish... No porting, running etc required.
Well I am sad to report that this post seems true. I am an ogre warrior and killed frostbite to try and raise faction with the rogues. Everyone else in halas now likes me except for the banker. So I go off to camp Frostbite at level 14 and to my suprise only negative faction hits but no rogue faction hit what so ever. Needless to say I abandon my plan to camp the dog. Anyone know how to raise rogue faction if your already kos to them?
I think this is one of the few factions that you can't raise. If I am mistaken, then it is very hard to raise. You probably need to do quests in Halas. But you need a very good con for that. As a barb war, I couldn't even get quests from the shaman guild with the starting faction.

This seems like a GREAT was to raise your White Rose faction in Halas. I am currently 'apprehensive' to the rogues. Would killing Frostbite increase my faction significantly with the Rogues (I would like to do the Black Wolf armor and the Wolf Fang quests)?
I currently have "Ally" faction with the Warriors of Steel and "Amiable" to everyone else in Halas(Merchants, Shamans, etc...) Will killing Frostbite significantly affect those factions... will I become KOS on the first kill or is it a progression throught the faction labels?
I tried to get the fish from Frostbite for the Ring of Redcet Nife quest. I killed him 3 times and became KOS to the McMannus family. They ended up killing me and I gave up on the dog for the fish. I am also KOS to the guards in Everfrost which I also found out the hard way, by getting killed.
Instead of killing dog, get the fish a different way. Park (or log) your primary at the back wall of the temple. Create a new lvl 1 SK that starts in Qeynos. Use that SK to kill the fish with Harm Touch and some sword swings. Log and delete that SK. Log your primary and loot the fish. Gate out of there.
The hardest part of this quest is not exactly getting the fish. If you are a High Elf wizzie like me and have never hunted in or around Qeynos, your faction is Indifferent. To increase your faction (and your chance of getting this ring), search for a prolesthetizing prophet called Lashun Novashine. He screams innanities to the zone and can usually be found outside NQ in the newbie zone or at the Temple.
You can bribe Novashine with 2 GP or give him bone chips to increase your faction to warmly. I gave him about 80 bonechips (purchased for 4PP a stack in Gfay) and 20 PP (in 2GP increments) and I got the ring from the Temple on the first try. Expensive ring, hehe.
To fix faction for killing Frostbite (WolvesOfTheNorth), you can kill Giz Dintree in E Freeport. She is a lvl 8 or 9 Dark Elf Rogue and only spawns at night. She hangs out south of the docks.
The fish that you need for the Band of Rodcet Nife quest in Qeynos is only level 1, and is swimming in the pool. The problem is that it has a huge faction hit associated with it, and a guard often swimming in the pool that will defend it and WHOOP you good. The solution? Make a mule character in Qeynos -- either a monk or an SK -- and go kill the fish with your level 1 mule. Those two classes are most likely to kill the fish quickly (SK especially with harm touch), before a guard can intervene. Do it on the far side of the pool from the guard, just in case! Then log out and loot with your regular character.
You might need to kill several fish, since they don't all drop scales -- but then again, Frostbite doesn't always drop scales either. Also, there are rumors that even looting the fish can be dangerous, so loot, then zone to clear any aggro, and come back to finish the quest. Oh, and this way, you can get the ring even as a very, very low level character (as long you've got enough faction, really).

i'm a lvl 16 enchanter and frostbite conned blue to me 2 out of 3 times. I was sharing the camp with a lvl 9, and she said that it conned yellow or red. If I'm correct a lvl 11 would still con yellow to a lvl 9.

Killed pup 10 times and no fish. Was told by the Higher level that were cleaning out the barb village that they have never seen Frostbite drop the fish. I estimate it is a rare drop.
I have been told that it is imppossible to faction up with Halas. Thus, killing the is killin the pup the only way to get the fish for evil races? (as all items involved are Non-drop).
Other than Negative Halas faction (which evil races already have) are there any other penalties?
I killed Frostbite 3 times and am now kos with all barbarian npc's. Good thing I'm an enchanter and can just cast illusion barbarian, but look out if you're killing him and ever want to go to Halas again.
#Cintin,
Posted:Jun 11 2000 at 1:56 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) There 2 frostbites? One is level 10-11 and the other around 16....hmm whats with this?
The ring you get for turning in the fish to Enic at the temple (must have good faction) is acutally quite nice if you're a caster. Ring is +3 Int, +10 mana. Price of a +4 int ring is about 225pp, and this one is just as good.
This pup drops a Koaldil (spl), which hear is used for the stein of Muggok quest and in a quest given by pool guards Enic in the Temple of Life in North Qeynos.
this doggie use to be a major pain in the ass for my DE. I would be sitting in the miller farm waiting for scarecrows to spawn and frostbite walks through the farm for the warrior quest, and he always attacked me because of my evil faction even though he was too low for me to get exp. If i killed him the people who were following the dog would get pissed off, and if i didn't I end up having to zone or gate back to my spawning point which is most likely in another zone or far away from the farm incase i got in trouble. What a serious pain in the ass :(
