In Permafrost (Ancient Heroes raid): See this quest entry for information.

In Permafrost (regular zone): Lady Vox, along with Lord Nagafen and Phinigel Autropos, is one of EverQuest's original three raid bosses.

Those who would challenge the ice dragon would be advised to increase their Magic and Cold resists to counter her Fear and Ice AEs, respectively. She is also a cleric, and, as such, possesses the ability to cast Complete Heal on herself.

Vox is a Cleric; has 32,000 hps; summons; and hits for a max 205.

We took out Vox last night on lanys t'vyl. No big deal right? well, we did it with a lvl 45 and a lvl 46 enchanter and 3 clerics 49 50 51. I was the 46 enchanter and just started sieving like crazy.. here's the thing tho....we had about 9 paladins....with all of them stunning she went down very quickly. the 45 enc died about halfway through the fight, but i lived. It's kind of funny though, because I talked to several people before getting in there and was told with 2 enchanters of that lvl and 3 clerics we had slim chances of defeating her. *shrug* maybe enchanters aren't as important as we thought....

you gotta read this!

Ok, i was on a vox raid this weekend. it was the "special" weekend as GM's called it. well, we took down vox like taking candy from a baby, that easy, only like, 6 deaths outta 34 or so. some one died in the pits, so, since vox was dead and there was pleny of time to goof off, we decided to just jump into the pit and slay the bears to get the corpse. well, we got the corpse and we came back up. ened up falling back into vox's lair, where as it was over an hour, the IG's had spawned. we had 4 giants on us, then outta the blue, HOLY ****** ****, ITS THE DAMN DRAGON VOX! needless to say, it was the most fooked up and hallirous thing i've ever herd of/seen. she was indeed up, after a mere 2 hours. naturally, alot of people then died, as we where at half strength (and litle bufage). i was feared then i herd RUN RUN RUN, so i gated back outside to everfrost. later that night a differnt group tired to kill her, me included (kinda kept it toghter), but due to the fact ice giatns where up and vox was out of her lair, and we got to her when she was out, we all died. CR was long into the wee morning and into about 7 central am. what an experence! while that was over, i start recruting for a regvenge raid, and about 50 peeps showed up. so i had to leave early and i randomed early, never sow vox a third time. as of now, im still waiting to see if i won anyting (539 outta 200-1000). please dont flame me, as this is 100% true. more and more dragons where spawning faster that weekend due to the GM's. dont get killed by her =)

P.S. i bet they killed her third time, as the co-raid leader (myself the other raid leader), was very precestant. was a pally looking for book.

I was in that night and I vouch for what Gaoes said. It was all true. I think the GM admitted though it was a bug actually. Vox dropped crappy loot that night. Bard horn, two ice comet spells, and a bracer.

RE: Spawn Time?

From the information I have recieved from other players, Vox and Naggy have a chance to spawn within 24 hours, 7 days after they were last killed. So, in other words, inbetween 7-8 days after they were last taken down.

1. 53+ can't be on the aggro list for Vox, so a 60 would get zone booted.
2. The spell doesn't work very often, and only works on things that con blue, teal, or green. Vox would be very hard to cast it on.
3. When the spell DOES go off, it leaves no corpse behind. This means that all of your efforts would have been in vein.

Which classes shoud stun?
# Sep 24 2001 at 1:22 AM Rating: Default
Hail! I've been on 5 vox raids so far. Out of those five, only one has been a success. I plan to host my own one unless some other guild kills Vox beforehand. I was just wondering, what are the best classes which should commit themselves to successfully interrupting Lady Vox's complete heal? Any information would be very helpful.
RE: Which classes shoud stun?
# Dec 30 2001 at 9:34 PM Rating: Default
Not to discredit anyone here; pallys/clerics + manasieving is your best bet. However, a nice touch that I'm not seeing mentioned is arming pets with stun items (i.e. Gabartik with a Gnollhide Lariat). True, they don't last all that long and are toast when the first AoE nuke drops, but every bit helps and no one can argue the benefit of expendable tanks.

Paladins have like 4 stuns at Vox raid lvl, just get a group(or 3) of them, have the chanter buff em all with clarity(or c2 if higher lvl chanter doing buffing) and the wis and mana buffs have them chain casting stuns
RE: Which classes shoud stun?
# Dec 02 2001 at 10:53 PM Rating: Decent
Im a lv51 Paladin and I only have two stuns, which dont work on most giants and very few wurms for the stun effect, but good for spell inturuption, clerics have many stuns, but unless your Paladin poor for the raid, Cleric should be healing and not have to worry about inturupting spells. Also its had to see these big dragons casting so try stunning every 10 seconds or so if you got at least 3 paladins, 15 seconds for 4, ect. This should keep any MOB from casting a spelll. Add a shild to bash and Vox doesnt stand a chance.

Mana Seive is a researched spell, so not all enchanters will have it. Those that don't have very little that they can do during the fight besides stun.

You soloed Vox at lvl 69, No big deal... I have read a post about someone soloing Veeshan, at lvl 73... he instantly dinged to lvl 74... one problem with BOTH posts however, is Lvl cap. The max lvl is 60, not 3 billion.

I'm a very daring young rogue who often likes to sneak into high level areas, take snapshots of the mobs, and sneak out again. I tried getting to Vox, but failed and learned two very important lessons: 1) Watch out for pit traps! 2) Don't keep anything valuable on yourself... Well anyway I am going to try it again; I'm not planning on getting out alive necessarily so I will have someone duel me to death so I have nothing on me when I risk my life. (Hmm, maybe I could have a cleric res me out in case I get in trouble, too) My question is if anything between the giants and Vox can see through hide. In my first experience, the only things that could see through hide were icy terrors, and those were in the pit traps. And can Vox herself see through hide? I'm guessing almost definitely yes, although you never know.
RE: Getting a snapshot.
# Nov 04 2001 at 4:59 AM Rating: Default
From my experiance, only the Ice Giant Magus' and Vox can see through hide.
I took a level 3 barb rogue in there to follow my guild when they were having a raid(my main is too low) and didn't die until Vox hit me with her AoE(at least, I'm assuming that's what it was)
Here's a tip, instead of taking your 26 rogue in there, make a new one like I do. I've been in naggys lair, and also made a solo trip into perma. I would've made it farther if not for the stupid see-invising magus'.
Well, happy picture taking! Hope this helped.
Help with VOX please

I am trying to get 300+ people to ask www.everquest.com forums to try and get a ring in EverFrost. They "might" take it into consideration????

Possible solution ot VOX? Put a ring near her so more people will come.................................................................... that seems to be the biggest problem orchestrating raids.
1. Port to NK get a tell "ok now what?" (port)
2. Have them run from NK to WK (zone)
3. Have them run the lenght of WK without Selo (zone)
4. Have them run through Qeynos Hills (zone)
4. Have them run through BB (zone)
5. Have them run the length of Everfrost (zone)

Hmmm a port and 5 zones + WK = no fun getting there.
A ring in the opposite corner of Everfrost would up our chances GREATLY:

You might not get them to change our epic, but if enough people ask for a ring in everfrost it might happen.

Shaman's can make Everfrost gate potions. They're expensive yes, I wouldn't be buying one for everyone in the raid. But I did just buy 5 of them for an upcoming raid so that I can get those last minute critical missing people there.

The market for the potions is also probably one reason the won't or at least haven't put a ring in that area--I know I wouldn't have bought the potions if there was a portal there.

# Aug 31 2001 at 12:43 AM Rating: Default
Ok, I'm a ranger, and I'm trying to think really hard why I would want to go to a vox raid. The only thing she drops that I could possibly want are the rbb and the wt reduction bag. I know I'm never going to get an RBB because I'm not best friends with any of the raid leaders, and winning a random with about 50 other people is not very good odds. I've been on two vox raids now, died both times, and am now just wondering whether its really worth it to go back. I mean, this thing drops caster stuff out the wazoo, but no tank items at all beyond one belt and a crappy spear. Sheesh

Why?

1. Because a well run Vox raid is fun.

2. Because if you're not in a good guild or guildless altogether Vox and Nafagen are probably the only two real dragons you'll ever get to fight.

Vox tactics
# Aug 18 2001 at 1:05 PM Rating: Excellent
I have been on 8 vox raids myself, Vox and I are tied in wins. 4 for me, and 4 for her. In leading the raids, I've lead 3, 2 wins, and 1 loss. From what I have gathered so far, there are multiple ways that you can win, and multiple ways that you can lose. Personally, I wouldn't want more than 45ppl MAX to run a vox raid. Think about it for a second. Say you have 60+ppl to take her down, that's 15 extra ppl to buff, organize and fit into an already crowded room. IMO, that's just to many, and you are looking at much more confusion and frustration.

Last night I helped run a sucessful vox raid. We had 35ppl, and we lost about half of them or so, and she CHed herself once. Then she went down. Loot was RBB, Bard Horn, White Dragon Scale, Hammer, and Bag. The trick is, as some have pointed out, is purely organization.

We had three chanters, one wizard, two mage's, about 16 tanks, one bard, 6 clerics, 2 shamans, a necro, and three rogues. Get a monk to pull the IG's, Terrors, and Spiders for you, including out from vox's lair, get into the buffing room(room 2 on the EQAtlas map), make your groups, buff up, and make sure everyone knows about the pits by showing them which ramp to go up, and where the rock is that you move to get into vox's lair. As well as making sure all pure casters are within melee attack range so that their spells will stick.

There are a few different ways that you can engage her as well.
1. Have your first group of 4 warriors, a bard and a cleric. Have that group go in and get the warriors to aggro vox for about 10-15 seconds. Then bring in the rest of the Melee's. At 60% health or so, bring in the casters...Tash/Malo/Slow her(malo and slow are harder to stick on her sometimes, tash is of course unresistable), then start mana seiveing your butt off, while nuking/stunning her. Keep her tanks who can taunt, taunting all the time to keep the casters from getting aggro. That's one way.
2. Similar to the first way, but this time bring in all melee at once to grab her aggro, and then do the same as above with casters.

Sorry for the long post, but one more thing. It's great to have your cold resists up as much as possible, 90+ is a good start, with that, a cold resist buff, and the two bard songs, you can get your cold around 200-250ish. However, I have found it more important to get Magic resist up as well. Because if the battle goes on long enough, your bards usually get taken out fairly quick, and if your buffs get dispelled, which they almost always will, you are stuck with just your base resists. And a feared player can not fight and is of no use.

Just my 2cp, hope it helps with future Vox raids.

Thank you, this was a good post in preparing for taking Vox down, exactly the kind I was looking for. Only a minor thing, you can't taunt something with higher lvl than yourself and since there is a lvl cap on Vox this means that noone can taunt her expect for damage of course. Thanks again, I ranked your post as excellent
RE: Vox tactics
# Nov 06 2001 at 9:05 PM Rating: Good
Thanks for giving me an "excellent" ranking. Heh, I'd almost forgotten about me posting this. I'd just like to add in a few more tidbits of info in case someone wants to try them.

1: I've found that it's very helpful if you can put one enchanter into your tank groups instead of having them mixed in with the casters, and here is why I say this. If you can get the enchanters into the battle sooner, then they can start to mana sieve her before she even thinks about CHing. Also, I've never played an enchanter, but from what I hear, mana sieve has a long recast time, so what most chanter do is after they mana sieve, they rune themselves, and then just repeat.

As far as the taunting goes, I was unaware that you couldn't taunt a creature who conned Red, can anyone else verify this? It would definately make a difference in tactics I think.

Thanks for your time, and again, GL on your furture Vox Raids.

Woot! Last night we raided her and killed her, it was my first time and real fun. We had about 8 groups of 5 some groups had 4 or 3 people. Lots died but she didn't get off a CH and went down fairly fast. I was buffed out of my mind too. 1000 extra hp and 203 magic resist!!! And my resists suck normal. Good luck to whoever tries to kill her.

I went on a vox raid on the bristlebane server and learned that this server is not organized at all. It took 2 hours just to buff six groups and by the time they were buffed the first group was lossing theres. All the groups died fast and then they decided to quit and try again the next day not sure if they one but if it was the same people i know they didnt, that server needs to get in gear and learn to work together and loots isnt what its all about. its about the fact that all those people took there time to work together to kill one thing!

So this is pretty much a message to bristlebane

Wouldnt the 53 level cap mean thet she would be yellow to 1 level of people that could attack her? So she would be red to everyone else AND be an over 50 caster MoB to boot? I dont understand that she should be blue to at least someone dont seem like much fun but I do look forward to trying!
RE: Curious
# Aug 25 2001 at 11:45 PM Rating: Default
lvl 53 cap means that only lvl 52 and below can attack vox without being ported to the entrance of the zone. Vox is lvl 55 so its gonna con blue to some people, lvl 53+ people could run around vox's room all they want until they are put on her aggro list then they are ported right to zone. just wanted to say this cause i was sick of reading stupid crap=)
