A Warning

So I know most people will not see this as these are kind of dated. However if you do and you are wondering about these. I can't speak for many other classes and some seem to have been covered by others but if you are an Enchanter just be very very careful. The seafury cyclops were unable to be mezzed using entrance like flat out it said they cannot be mezzed. They also cannot be charmed and seem to do a lot of magic resisting. Just a forewarning as a lower level Enchanter (I'm level 38 here with a Beastlord). They do seem to be able to be rooted (after a tash) which we used to our advantage.

The other thing I will say on the island where you find Captain Surestout seems to be relatively okay for kiting if you don't wanna do it over water. Do beware the name giant Gornit as he does wander up there form time to time. He does act like a regular giant though for plat dropping and such.

loot here is good. but you have to take the whole island. gornit the pirate hill gian included. the seafury cyclops drops low end gems. collect those. gornit drops plat and fine steel weapons. collect those. the other drops you can get to add to the loot.

whats nice about this place is you have the island to yourself. most of the time anyway. i made 1k an hour and i could leave the keyboard whenever i wanted. i made enough plat to buy a mount and level.

RM hill giants dropped plat, you can also make 1k in an hour. but you don't get xp there. and you're always trying to beat other people to the mobs.
soling
# Nov 28 2004 at 12:23 PM Rating: Decent
As a 42 mage I started soloing these guys, I am cheap and did not want to spend the plat for gems I needed for focus items lol. Was not too hard and got exp as well. The only bad part for me at the time was Downtime for medding. Now that I am 45 and get KEI I am excited to go back. Keep in mind, both pet & I wore Temp and still got knoced down a bit. And the loot drop was not as great as I thought it would be. Got my Sapphire on first kill, never did see Fire Emerald nor Star ruby.
Palladin Solo
# Jun 21 2004 at 6:19 AM Rating: Decent
My Palladin maked a solo turn with this Seafury.
At level 53 i soloed them. Was there for 10 hour and made 20 % exp in that time. Also got loot sold at erollis 1500pp rounded of. The cyclops ranged from 3000 to a bit over 4000 hp.My personaly hit record was 186 with my 2hs.They hit in the range 20 to 80.
Have a nice day.
Quadding is simple/safe
# Feb 20 2004 at 7:51 PM Rating: Default
Been quad kiting these with my 55 druid, waiting for the tainted to spawn. Basically, just been snaring four of them, and then running back and forth along the beach while hitting with careless lightning. Only problem so far is that it's hard to keep them in a tight group, so there's often one or more at then end that needs a dot to finish off.

How can you quad with a single target dd of 99? Is careless lightning an area spell now? That would be a sweet else you'd have to cast 40 times per mob......can you say, "Returning to Bind Spot"
exp vs loot
# Jan 14 2004 at 10:50 AM Rating: Excellent
I ws told about this zone while i was hunting hill giants in RM basically for money. Was told the hunting here was just as good. Well as a 54 bsl most things here are dark blue or light blue to me so exp is ok made 2 blue in about an 40 min maybe a lil less. the loot on the other hand compaired to RM is not even in same catagory. droped one emerald ring out of like 30 pulls solo is easy with pet as tank but pull them to beach dont try to fingt in grass you will have 4-5 on you in no time. hope this is helpfull.
oh yea they are on island 6 on the map.

Twinkage!
# Dec 04 2003 at 8:25 AM Rating: Decent
I found out last night that I can solo these things, and was very excited! I am a level 35 Erudite enchanter, so my tactic will probably only work for other enchanters...
What I do is cast Illusion: Air Elemental on myself, then I buff up, HP/AC/CHA/FizzleReduction/Clarity/Etc. Then I turn on my Jboots (Some of you may have to get SOW potions) Then I run over to Gornit, Root, Tash, then cast Beguile. Then I pull a seafury over to my Gornit pet with a Tash, then after they trade blows for 20-30 seconds I cast Tepid Deeds on the Seafury. Then I just med, and cast Anarchy on the Seafury every now and again to keep the Gornit Pet on top of things. As soon as the Gornit pet kills the seafury tell the Gornit to /pet guard here, get some distance, invis, root and nuke the Gornit down.
Just in case you wanted to know, with Radiant Visage my CHA is 255 and my unbuffed int is 229.

I wonder if you could do this with the spectres? Sure they have less hp, but the hit a hell of a lot harder and lifetap.. besides I would want to kill Gornit for his phat lewt lol.

are there always alot of people fighting these?
RE: Corrupted
# Apr 17 2004 at 12:42 AM Rating: Decent
Not really. The seafuries would happen not to be camped by a very large amount of people...well, at least upon my server. At times, I am the only being within the zone.

They easily have over 4.5K HP, just to clear up the earlier debate. I logged one kill and did 4893 point in damage before it died. I pulled with snare, then I casted Wings of Death, Drones of Doom (es arms, and burning affliction II) Breath of Ro, Root (warden's symbol), Drifting Deat, root, Immolate and root. The last cast of root would break when they were under 20%. To finish the off needed 1 more cast of drones and drifting.

They dropped the sea foam almost every time and no more than 9pp. Cyclop toes and eyes were the next most common drop, followed by various reasearch words, runes, pages (not just the ones listed here). In about 50 kills, they dropped 1 sapphire, 2 fire emeralds, and 1 emerald ring.

At 53, I was getting (at 50/50 xp/aaxp) about 1% in both every 2-3 kills.

All in all, I'd rather quad wyverns in CS than camp these, but CS is full too often
Easy Shammy Solo @ 49
# Aug 25 2003 at 1:14 PM Rating: Decent
I just started soloing these guys at level 49 so I have no idea how difficult it is to solo earlier but with Plague and E Bolt, these things were a snap and could be pulled one after another with a KEI.

To do this, run to the island and summon a pet close to the water. This is your pull point. Buff pet with HoS, alacrity and regen and do the same for yourself. Find a seafury and slow him and run back to your camp. Sic pet on cyclops and cast plague on cyclops. While pet is tanking, canni up (found stoicism and canni 2 invaluable here since I didnt have to sit). When the cyclops is around 50% health, throw on an E Bolt and canni-med until the mob runs. Immediately pound on it with pet until its dead. If there are wanderers near where the mob is running, just root the mob and kill it to avoid adds.

Using this method, the pet takes at most 2 bubbs of damage and you should be close to FM and ready to pull the next as soon as the other dies. Went from just into 49 to halfway thru 50 in about 7-8 hours.

Thanks for any info you can provide...

Do these mobs spawn randomly through the zone or is it on a specific island? Is it a single spawn or multiple?

Solo Necro
# May 20 2003 at 5:50 AM Rating: Decent
I solo these at level 50 as my necro for cash and exp. It's easy enough, my pet tanks and only takes about 2 bubs HP loss max and I only use 1 bubble of Mana. Pull with Dooming Darkness, Venom of the Snake (A quick and efficient DoT and Cyclops are vulnerable to poison) and then Ignite Blood (DoT lasts longer then VotS and has high damage). My pet tanks it and it dies while I med with Lich. Once it's dead, I'm full mana, but down a little HP and my pet buff regens all of its HP before I pull another.

Quick easy cash and xp.
can we take him

'clops
# Mar 04 2003 at 8:02 AM Rating: Excellent
Took my druid here at 34, as RM was overcrowded. with about 180-190 wis at the time, they were extremely easy solos, never resisted snare/drones of doom, rarely resisted root. just takes time as they seemed to have in the area of 2-2.5khp
EDIT : quite right, was a typo. an average one had more in the area of 3-3.5k, leaning heavily towards the latter, with an occasional 4k+ one

Either you mean regular Cyclops or you want to double your hit point estimate. Took me either 7 or 8 Conflagurations (614 DD) to take one down this morning.

RE: 'clops

They have about 4.5k hit points. An ice Comet, 49 Wizard nuke that does 1120 dmg takes them to 76% health.
RE: 'clops
# Aug 16 2003 at 1:26 PM Rating: Decent
hmm, as a 55 Mage(solo'd them at 51 and 52) it didnt take much to take these guys down. I dont think they have 8k hp as the one guy said, and i think they have less than 4k, when I nuke with Flame Bolt it takes them down to 60%, and pet eats from there. Maybe i get weak ones or something, idk.
RE: 'clops
# Jul 24 2003 at 8:13 AM Rating: Decent
I'm not real sure how HP's these things have, but I take em down pretty easy at 53. I pull with Slow, root em and sic Cujo on em. Hit 'Ol one eye with Plague, when he's at 60% hp I hit em with E-Bolt and they drop like a stone. Takes a little while to kill, they have more HP's than the Giants in BW. I would guess around 4-5K, beats me though.
Pretty Easy
# Feb 19 2003 at 2:45 PM Rating: Decent
These things are pretty easy, and not bad xp either. I can't really fear kite them because they make a beeline right to the middle of the island where the rest of their friends are, and I get too many adds.

Basically all I do is pull with Splurt if he's moving, darkness if he's standing still... run back to the beach, sic pet, cast Asystole since my pet has to tank him. The AC, STR, and ATK debuff helps him not take so much damage. Then I sit and med. Pet kills him, after taking about 1 to 1 and 1/2 bubs of damage.

The pretty consistently drop 4-6pp and some gp, sp, and cp... sometimes there are duds that just drop gp. The real money is in the jewelry and gems they drop...

80pp for Fire Emeralds, 80pp for Fire Opals, 95pp for Sapphires, 80pp for Opal Bracelets, 51pp for Emerald Rings. I've got 125 CHA when I sell so it varies of course. I frequently make between 300 and 500pp an hour here, as well as about a blue of exp.

They also drop Mugs of Sea Foam (no clue what its for... sells for 1pp and some change to vendors), words, runes, Cyclops Toes and Cyclops Eyes.

Pretty easy camp... not as lucrative in pure pp as Hill Giants, but its not overcamped around the clock, and I don't get exp off of HG's. If you can get a couple lucky gem drops you can easily make up the difference though.

The Mug of Seafoam will sell in bazaar for 20pp+. Must be for a quest.

Mugs of Sea Foam Saltwater Seaweed and Fish Wine are used to make Sea temper for Freeport human cultural armor.

Never sell to vendors. My Wizzy routinely buys them from other players for 5pp each while he hunts Furies and fishes for seaweeds.

Any humans who smith would gladly pay for any you can sell them.

Since one of the recent patches these guys have been dropping Cyclops Eyes (magic item, looks like a fire beetle eye) with quite a bit of regularity. I have no clue what they are for.

Cyclops eye is used to make a Haste alchemy potion... though the herb used for it is 30pp or so I think.

Soloed by 44\mage.. easy
# Jan 20 2003 at 10:44 AM Rating: Excellent
not sure what you guys are doing wrong but these are easy as heck for me to solo, then again i go all out on giving my pet stuff.
1. Summon focused fire pet (unfocused might work too)
2. Summon plate, dont give the bracers however
3. Summon daggar of symbols x 2
4. summon focus items.. if two can be equiped give him two. (e.g. two bracers, two baubles, and two rings)
5. elemental defender for backslot
6. bo2, expidence, make damn sure firepet has his DS up.
7. set up your pet far away from adds.. i actally set up on the AC island, pulled with lv8 bolt and ran like hell.. with sow you dont need to get the intial distance tho.. they will outrun you normally, not sure about jboots however. Also try the south or even pull into the ocean and they wont add.
8. once he nears your pet, sic the pet on him and MED! watch your pets health, and near 60% throw a renew summoning on him.. if your at fm you can do it earlier
9. med again and watch the mobs health and your pets.. i just have the sf clicked and have a hotkey for /pet report health
10. heal your pet as needed with the new 44 heal.. i usally heal around 40%, these things hit weak so your not in THAT much danger of 3-4 good attack rounds whiping your pet out.. but dont let your pet fall too low on hp.
11. med back up to fm and heal or let the pet regen to FH. sometimes i end with 98% mana.. but pets at 25% hp

overall: soloable, fun to kill a giant, but the fights are long because of their high hp.
1-2% xp per kill, gems sell for good money to vendors.

The only problems i ever had with these, was when one caught up to me while pulling to ac island, and when i tried one on the sf island. They run and you have to burn mana nuking them.

me and three guildies took these with ease, it was me (warrior) another warrior , cleric, and druid. me and the other warrior have some nice weps and the cleric only needed to complete heal us once each per two cyclopses. The druid mostly snared and DoT'ed. i am lvl 41 the other warrior was 45 and the cleric was 39 and the druid around 43 i think. Fun and like 50p in a half hour.

BTW some loot dropped twice fo us in a half hour that sells for like 100p ! its great money and if you can take em its good exp too.
I must be awsome

Seafury Cyclops are very ez to solo as a 51 necro. All you have to do is pull with splurt run to pet send in pet. when it's at about 50% life hit it with Dooming or even Engulfing Darkness all your looking for is the snare.(I only used Engulfing Darkness once becase i was low on mana)Always keep the pet buffed of the cyclops will eat him.Pull with Splurt because low agrro and the pet pulls it right off you.

Yes, paladins can solo at high levels too. At 51 with moderate gear, these are a tough solo fight for me. They don't hit very hard (max hit so far was mid-70s), but they have tons of hit points. I like to have every combat buff up before I begin a fight with them. I pull them to the southeast corner of the island to avoid multiple foes. Many times during the fight I'll rely on Divine Purpose to root, meditate and regenerate, root, meditate and regenerate, until my mana and health are in decent shape to continue the fight. As you fight them down to low health, they eventually begin to flee for the middle of the island. If they get too far from the shore, rooting is sometimes necessary to avoid attracting the attention of other cyclopses. Using this strategy on these bulky behemoths, the fights tend to be long; however if you're careful, you shouldn't need to Lay Hands. We may not solo these as efficiently as magicians, but with concentration, patience, and the right spells, paladins can fight them too.
