i am presently campng this lovely troll at lvl 16 getting 3 blue a kill every 8 mins which gives me time to run to the library and hand in a stck of wine and write this post between pops

i using the lvl 16 water pet and shock of flame to drop him, my pet rarely ends up on less than half life and i use only half mana <INT 202>

here is how i do it: give pet summoned weapon and defender, burnout and DS the pet send him in to attack wait till he does half a bubble of dmg . SoF then taking care not to get aggro nuke to you hearts content i have got it down to 4 SoF to kill him now and by the time i hand in the wine i have enough time to med to full before he repops <8 min spawn time>

You may put 4 stacks of 4 for each trade and you will gain 16 facton raises. currently I am ally and made 150p yesterday killing the Rat for over 4 hours. when it goes to warmly or kindly i just buy a bag of wine and do wine quest.

What is the spawn time?

Ok here's how you take this guy down. At lvl 19 he's no joke and I died a couple of times to figure out his pathing. If you do it this way no matter how weak your pet is it'll work. If you get a resist on darkness or fear just move on to the next dot and come back to it. 2 resists in a row and you're going to have a fight on your hands.

With full mana/health stand behind the table directly in front of the barkeep, make sure your pet is to your right (in the corner). Cast heart flutter and then send pet. Run towards the door, turn and cast darkness. Back up some more so that you are now past the door. Cast fear. Ratraz will then walk back the way he came before going to the door giving you time to hit him with heat blood before he exits. Chase after him and run straight past the lil fountain square and cast fear again. Now chase after him as he walks through the doorway and hit him with leach. At this point you can either lifetap or refear and let the pet take him down.

Pet always lives, not one scratch on your (gnomish) head. Collect loot, sell club, pact, wait 10 minutes and repeat. Do red wine quest as needed. At 20 you can probably be more aggressive with your pet, but with a lvl 16 pet he goes down quick if you let them just wail on each other.

Im a level 18 sk. I noticed that everyone doin this is a necro/mage, they are very good soloers at this level. As a SK im a little doubtful on how well i can take this guy. If anyone knows what lvl i could do this and how i would go about it pls post it. Thanks.

Here is my ticket for success (I have been camping Ratboy as early as 17 as a necro gnome). I cast the spells in this order. First, I call up pet. I agree with other posts; if you get a green pet, trash him. Best do it with blue pet. I then do spirit armor on myself AND pet. Then I cast Impart Str on my pet to give him an edge. I then reorganize spells in this slot order, bottom to top: Engulf Dark, Heat Blood, Heart Flutter, Fear, Leech, Lifedraw, Pet spell, Dark Pact. When Ratraz spawns, I send in pet, cast darkness. As soon as I am able, next is Heat Blood, then Flutter. If Darkness resisted, I go back to it and cast again! Then I Fear. I walk around to the end of fountain, cast Leech. Then I Lifedraw while pet continues to attack. Now, in case of excessive fizzles or an untimely pet death, I make sure Ratboy always is in Darkness, and I run up to the entrance to the catwalk on top of the wall. There are some nice straight-aways where I can get ahead, and recast another pet before Ratboy catches up. If Darkness did NOT stick, I can gain time by JUMPING off catwalk onto ground below! Know this catwalk. If you jump onto a roof, Ratraz will pursue. If you hit the ground, he will go all the way around catwalk and back downstairs, by which time you will have summoned next pet and get in range for next DoT. Score? Hokkus 112 Ratraz 3. Not bad if you ask me! Oh, the Dark Pact should be kept on you in my humble opinion. With my method, you will not take much damage but mana may be key to survival if pet goes down. Good Luck!

Okay here is my statergy..

1st of all send pet in (my pet can kick bash double attack and use what ever wpn skill at my lvl)

2nd bring on the dots Heat Blood-Heart Flutter-Leach.

3rd just in case he goes agro after the the step after this cast shieldskin.. this will save you from some of his 40 dmg blows :)

4th At this stage hes gonna be almost dead to cast a 65 dmg life tap and he will most likey come after you... but you are pretty much safe atm just keep leaching from him and he will be dead..

5th After Each 2-3 spawns do the library quest bout 3 times just to be safe

Outcome of this statergy
Pet lives 99.9%of the time
You havnt got a scratch on you
(if he did manage to hit you your leach has gotten it back)
Give pet the new weapon and your pet dose not die so you can sell the others you loot.

Believe me this stratergy works!!

Alright, Ratraz is incredible exp for lvls 18-21. I brought my gnome necro here and leveled very fast. He drops the Warclub thing (stats really blow) but sells for around 4-5 pp to the merchants in the 3rd gate. This guy is an excellent money maker. From the time that i spent camping him, i made around 800-900pp.

Classes I have seen do it are necros and warriors. By the way, the war was heavily twinked and i think lvl 20 or 19. Necros can take him fairly easily if you are lvl 18. You have to be 18 if you want low resists. I have also seen a rogue try to take him, and he got really close too, so if your a heavily twinked rogue... give him a shot. (BTW, i was NOT twinked, and being a necro, i didnt need to be heavily twinked since we are o-so-powerful.)

Start off by engulfing darknessing him and make sure it sticks. Then, fear him, he always follows a specefic path when he is feared. Run out of the tavern when he leaves it and unleash your dots on him. Re apply fear when its neccessary. I have had some really close calls with this guy so always keep feign death mem'd. Of course you need a pet to take him down, and I usually try to summon a blue pet (so if its green, make sure you dont let Ratraz beat on him for too long because he hits for 40 alot.) Also, make sure you can see him when you cast obviously, because being a gnome, sometimes i couldnt see over stupid objects so it told me "You cannot see your target." : (

You want to keep your faction up, and I will tell you how. If your a gnome, human or erudite, your going to want to do the red wine quest a lot of times BEFORE you kill this bastage. You want to make the merchants con amiably or warmly. When you start killing ratraz, faction will lower with basically ALL of Neriak, so do the red wine quest when needed. (I did the wine quest after every other time i killed Ratraz just to be safe.)

This is how the quest works. You buy alot of Red wine (theres tons of liquor vendors in the third gate.) Give them to the low lvl necro in the Library named Lokar ToBiath (or something very close to that.) You can give him 4 at a time if i remember right, and faction goes up with everything that went down when you killed ratraz.

I hope this info will benefit all you young necros like it did for me...

the bracer is for the troll sk guild quest but the head is NOT. The head required is Lumpkin's in the foreign quaters I believe.

I got most of my money hunting him, he's easy to kill solo if you do it right. If you're a caster (such as myself), he almost always follows the wall around (unless you REALLY aggro him), so you can easily outrun him by going across the room diagonally.

i'm screwed, i killed him for a while and i didn't watch my faction close enough and now i'm dubious, no one i go to to do quest will talk to me all those npc won't let me raise faction. Is there anything killing or quest that i can do please tell me

i've killed ratraz from 17 to 19 and everytime i kill him he cons kindly. after he's dead, i con amiable to the merchants. i would go and give 4 wine to Lokar to get my faction back up to kindly (sometimes i had to do this twice). from what i've seen, a stack of red wine is good for reversing 4 faction hits from ratraz.

I killed ratraz about 7 times as DE i was aimiably to him after killing was indifferent decided to do quest before it got worse and the guy took wine gave no XP faction and said my deads preceaded me while he conned indifferent to me?? Anyone can tell me what to do, my prices there are like 1pp less than what they used to be.

I need to kill him for helm of Hukulk quest, but Dubious to DE already, can I do that Red Wine quest?

Just give wine to Lokar Tobiath in the library (also in the 3rd gate). I gave him 60 bottles of red wine (can give 4 at a time) and even after killing Ratraz 4 times, the silly troll still regards me kindly... which he was indifferent the first time I ever conned him. The red wine quest is the best/easiest way to counter the faction hits.

He is a 10 minutes spawn, and always drops a Warclub worth around 5 1/2 plat, and often has a plat or more in coin. Sometimes he will also drop gems or words. If you are camping him, make sure to do the red wine quest in the library often, to keep your faction up. If you get to dubious or lower, you will not be able to recover, and a Dark Elf who cannot buy and sell in Neriak is a sad thing indeed.
