If you are an FD class these are easy to kill. Pull the mob and start to kite him. Pull with a snare and land all the dots you can. As soon as he summons his little rat mob you FD. About 45 seconds later they despwn. Then send in the pet and burn down the mob with dots. Do not send the pet in until the little rat mob has despawned. I have never had a second wave. Drop the mob and go onto the next.
just a slight thought. the Direwind Gnolls and Dyn'leth are allied factions. I think this mob would be a reduction in Dyn'leth, as are all the other Direwind Gnolls.
They summon the plague rats whenever they feel like it. Often they come on early on in the encounter.
We've tried chain-mezzing and chain-stunning to interrupt its summoning but this works inconsistently. I'd say only 1 time in 3 or so are we able to avoid the summoned plague rats.
The rats have very few HPs, /con blue but they do hit in the high 100's and have an annoying stun. Typically the cleric lands a heal on the tank and then gets aggro'd by the plague rats, which isn't good. Be prepared to have a class capable of aoe-stunning or aoe-mezzing to handle these until you finish off the ratcaller. Then the plague rats are easily disposed of.

Do they summon the rats just once, and do they despawn like the summoned pet in sunderock springs ozzes?
They summon just once, they then despawn.
