A Cloaked Dhampyre spawns in the little fountain area with two other regualr garden mobs on each side. With my 65 Necro he went down easy.

This guy is a sk has no pet but he does HT , i resisted all of his spells (which he casts very few of) as a lvl 53 bard. I killed him 4 times has yet to drop cloak but had dropped blood of dhamphye potion all 4 times. is easy ( to all who can lev there is a very very simple way to get to the fountain are, you must be invis and lev but go up the ramp to castle ent then run onto the open ledge over bloodwolfs to left when facing ent to castle and simply run over the castle to an open area on the other side of the caste i have yet to get any adds, you need to keep lev up becuase its somewhat diffucult to pull from the wall when you cant get on it. its hard to find but its excellent and easy to escape when you get to low of health etc.)

you wouldnt be able to solo him because he spawns in an area basicly impossible to get to as a 45 war solo. better off getting a few friends and working your way to his area otherwise youll be paying for a corpse summon

And does OMG stand for "Off my gonads"?

Now look at me.... spending all this energy being critical of someone elses spelling.

camping it solo
# Aug 10 2001 at 2:43 PM Rating: Default
I broke the fountain area and held it solo with my Paladin back when I was around 50 or 51st level. I bummed an invis at zone and ran to fountain area. Moved as far from MOBs as possible and broke my invis with a root spell. Then I rooted a 2nd and promptly put the smack down on them one at a time. I kept the others rooted after the kill to spread out the spawns.

If things head south (i.e. a runner gets away), its an easy TRAIN to the zone if you have LH available or if you leave before 1/2 health.

I followed this same strategy... Bummed an invis at the zone, and ran into the fountain area... you have to be careful of the undeads lurking around there though. If you get hit, you'll have to clear everything out or train the zone.

I got to the room, and he was up.. killed him and everything else in the room..

so far, i've gotten 5 regen potions and no cloak... a fallen noble pops there also, so i've left with a noble's robe everytime.

seems to be a fairly random respawn time. first time i killed him he repopped in about 45 minutes. second time took around 4 hours.

it's a great upgrade for me. i still have a supple black cloak on.

Good luck!

I solo camped this mob for 8 hours a couple weeks ago. Dhampyre popped many times but no cloak.

I invised to the fountain in MM the other day, and sure enough the dhampyre was up. My HT insta-killed him, and I looted the corpse with the other 3 mobs (an add from outside) hitting me, and to my surprise it dropped the cloak. I FD'd and invised out.

8 hour camp, hundreds of mobs killed = no cloak
10 min camp, 1 mob killed = cloak

There has got to be a better way to generate loot.

No it doesn't cost that much, it costs much more. It always varies but its at least a good 4k. Im not gonna flame or call you a newb, but the stats on it, plus the rarity makes it a great cloak. There are better but this cloak is "uber" for the lvl that drops it, not much better you can solo for, and especialy not at the lvl to obtain.

Camped this little ****** for 12 hours the other day. Spawned only once, and within the first 4 hours of my stay there. Heh, in that time I KNOW that the Advisor, and almost every other good mob in the place was killed at least 2 times by a raiding guild. Hehe, toward the end, I was feeling pretty burned about that. Is this spawn totally random then? I'd hate to think that I didn't get a respawn for 8 hours because all his ph pops coincided with daylight hours, or something equally annoying(.
Oh well, better luck next time I suppose;)
Hooded Black Cloak!

We camped the fountain yesterday for about 8 hours. The Dhampyre spawns in the middle of the three (on the left side, once you walk in), and can spawn anytime, be it day or evening. He spawned 3 times in that 8 hour span, once at Noon, once at nighttime, and not sure of the other. Twice he just dropped the potion (and even bronze pauldrons.. woo), and the last time he dropped the Hooded Black Cloak. I am a 40 warrior, there was also a 38 cleric and a 41 ranger. We had a 38 SK show up later. Pretty easy camp, really. Only major problem was when a paly was feared (so he said) into the room, and brought the entire castle with him. As long as you stay away from the entrance, there shouldn't be any wanderers around to see you.

When rolling for the cloak, someone from the ballroom asked if the rogue in their party could roll for it, too. Crack, anyone?

omfg no kidding, if someone thought they could do absolutely no work, but still come crying to me to roll for an item i'm there in the first place for, i'd shun their *** down >_<

of course that's just imo, but to try and take away someone else's stuff (basically what he's asking) isn't cool.

I'm a 52 Enc on the Nameless and broke this room solo today. Went in invis, dazzled all three, cast my pet, gave him a dagger so he would dual wield then broke mez on one. I used stuns to keep them from killing my pet (and oh they cost so little mana) and let my pet (using swift like the wind) just tear into it. Killed all three using this method and kept it up till I got my cloak. Enc pets rule!

Can you make him spawn simply by killing those 3 mobs around the fountain? I've watched others kill the mobs outside in the yard next to the fountain, but i've never tried it. I've only seen this guy once, and it was when i was simply strolling into the room to talk to some people. They wiped him out and got the cloak. Ever since then i've spent about 3 to 5 hours at a time on the camp and have yet to see him. Also, does he take up one of the 3 spawns or is he a spawn in addition to the 3 around the fountain?

RE: A Question on spawn

I camp it all the time and have seen many dyhampres, always undeads. The picture here is of an undead dyhampre. Maybe even the word dyhampre means undead. If so than to get a cloak dyhamphre he must always respawn as an undead. Not gonna go into how to break the place, its not hard, but will say that you should also break more than just the spawns in Fountain. At the very least, kill everything within possible agro range of archway just outside of Fountain so that you will be able to do what I will say here.
I believe this guy is always an undead. If he respawns within daylight hours, you will get a live darkelf..aka...placeholder (dirty word). Should time the kill of the dyhamphre/PH so that it will respawn at night. This does not insure that it will be the dyhamphre, just means you will get an undead. Maybe the randoming of which mob pops is: durring daytime, always a live darkelf placeholder. Durring night time chance of dyhamphre or an undead. If he respawns durring day, you are insured of a placeholder.
Most mistmore mobs are on a 24 minute cycle. Get a stop watch and start the 24 minute countdown when you kill first mob in fountain. 24 minutes later, that mob will spawn again. When you break the fountain, you should kill the dyhampre/PH last so that you leave some options open. Break the spawn time apart by delaying on last mob in room so that you dont have multiple mobs to fight next time. Sit and recover for @3-5 minutes and kill the mobs in agro range of archway to fountain. When its time for fountain to respawn again kill the two mobs on either side of HBC mob (If you killed dyhamphre/PH last, and broke up the time, you should have enough time to kill other two mobs before HBC mob pops). Now go outside of fountain agro range. Check what time it is in the game and see what pops, if its a regular undead, wait untill the time is right to insure respawn is another undead. If its the dyhampre, I would still advise the same thing since it's rare he will have the HBC anyway.
Lets see....MM mobs on 24 minute respawn cycle, 5 minutes real time is equal to one hour EQ time, 5 into 24 is just under 5. So it takes around 5 hours of game time for most MM mobs to respawn after you kill it. Undead start spawning at 7pm or 8pm..not sure, and stop spawning at 7am or 8am. So when you kill the dyhampre/PH, you should do it between the hours of maybe 2-3pm to 2-3 am or there abouts. This could be wrong. Honestly not really sure on real time to EQ time, but I think this is close.
Good luck on the farm you hosers!
RE: A Question on spawn
# Mar 15 2001 at 9:03 PM Rating: Good
Belay my last. Although the dyhamphre always spawns as an ubdead, I had him pop on me durring the day time. Both of the two spawns on either side of him spawned as regular DEs than he poped as a undead. Even had the HBC on him :) Guess its just totally random *shrug*

RE: A Question on spawn
# Jan 31 2001 at 1:05 PM Rating: Default
He is the placeholder from the middle spawn , that means that even if hes up u wont have more than 3 mobs to fight. Most of the time his Ph is a deathly harbringer it seemed to me. As a lvl49 ranger u can easily hold the spawn , but im not quite sure if u can also break it , fought these three mobs inside and easily won but i had luck and no caster was with them , casters are nasty for tanks cause they have a dd shield , even worse when u have duel wield .....
BTW , this spot can easily be reached over the roof , just fly on a tree in front of the main entrance and move to the cliff next to the wall with levitate.

I camped this yesterday and indeed, he dropped the cloak.
The spawn was broken when I arrived by Chaoticblade (/cheer) and he'd been on the camp 4-5 hours and needed to log. I camo'd in and continued the camp.
There are 3 mobs in this small fountain yard, one front by the tree, the middle beside the fountain (opposite the door), and the 3rd behind the fountain at the Paladin quest ribs (do drop item).
I camped this for 6-1/2 hours, so the total camp was around 10 or so. He is indeed a slow one to spawn. He spawned for me in the middle spot. The mobs were spawning at exactly 25 minute intervals (I've notes for the whole camp). The spawns were spread so I had 3-4 minutes between the three, and then a 16 minute or so wait for the next cycle.
I stayed in the corner behind the tree for most of the camp. One time a "walker" aggro'd me from the door. It brought no others in with it but that was the only interference. I'm level 49 at this time, and get less aggro'd because of my level. I know too, I could not have broken this room alone, though 2 could make easy work of breaking the spawn.
I love my cloak :)
Good hunting and safe journeys.

Just did this today. Group was:
44 cleric
45 rogue
47 (i think) enc
45 bard

its no problem at all with an enc, and yes this group was a bit overpowered for this but we were basically camping the entire castle as MM is empty all the time.

Strategy was go invis to fountain, attack highest con, mez the adds. Nothing special. Its probably doable without an enc if you have a bard or vice versa as long as everyone in group is 40+ and is skilled in assist and crowd control.

Important thing to note. At night undead spawns (e.g. Vampire Noble, Vampire Oracle, will sapper, will pillager) can see invis. Incidentaly Vampire Noble and oracle i had never seen before nor are they listed here, neither dropped any loot of note.
RE: to camp this mob?
# Mar 03 2001 at 12:35 PM Rating: Default
I see your a 53 ranger, I am a 49 ranger and can break and hold Fountain on my own, so you should have no problems. Just invis all the way, if an undead is along the way, dont stop to see if it agroed till you get to archway outside of Fountain. Usually if you stop to check, they will agro cause you stopped, run right by and many times even undeads wont agro through invis. Stop outside of Fountain, cause it might have undeads in there, check to make sure you were not agroed, than do this:
1. Go inside Fountain
2. dyhamphre/PH is mob in middle, root the mob to the right of the dyhamphre/PH and other two will run to the far right side of room where you are.
3. Root the dyhamphre/PH mob and run to far left side of room.
4. Snare third mob and kill it, reroot the dyhamphre/PH mob and let root break on other mob, than snare and kill it.
5. Reroot dyhamphre/ph mob again and wait 3 minutes before you kill it.
You now have the Fountin area broken and 24 minutes minus time of death of first mob before repop. Two roamers outside in CY should also be killed. Harmony works great.Go to th reply of the post above this one. Read the one made on 24 Feb. Can prove to make getting an HBC a lot less time consuming.

You will need:
Enchanter level 34+
Cleric/Shaman 34+ (or druid 39)
Another Tank 39+
Bard 37+

Breaking the area is a little tricky as the enchanter might not get much room to work in but this should be the strategy:

Cast rune on main tank before heading in, buff and Sow at the gorge and then head in, when in the garden the main tank breaks his invis and gets all the aggro, the bard charms one mob and the enchanter mezzes the rest, then normal tactics apply with snare etc.

Good luck

RE: What?

Actually, the best cloak is the cloak of piety. All you have to do to get one is kill a large undead dragon named Trakanon =P
RE: What?
# Oct 06 2000 at 9:48 PM Rating: Default
Haste takes precedence over anything else for any melee class, but in this case, Piety would be better than Flames and IMO, Seb Berserkers is better than Flames as well. Haste cap now only allows you so much haste form an item you can easily top it off with an ENC Aug 2 on you. That is if you are grouped with an enc who has it at all times. Flames is only good for soloing acts now. The added haste makes no difference when grouped with an enc.

Well, I (a lvl 50 warrior) wouldn't.

The cloak is quite possibly the best melee cloak in the game. Easily worth 2 Ykesha's and more than a Thick Banded Belt.
Nice cloak

Hooded cloak is 10ac, +5 str, +45 hp.
So alot better then a lizzie cloak providing you dont depend too much on dex.
Blood of the Dhamphyre

The Cloaked Damphyre also drops a potion called "Blood of the Dhamphyre" which produces an extended regeneration effect.
