I (54 mage) invs'd up and ran straight to ballroom. She was up, killed, dropped Power of Wind on first kill. Others aggro'd, but all died easily.

You didn't get her (actually "them") to spawn because the Castle Mistmoore mobs were put back into Mistmoore. The Mistmoore mobs were not a spawn from orcs...during the revamp, Mistmoore mobs took the place of the lfay mobs in some of the camps. But that revamp was "unvamped" awhile back (I forget when) and so they all back in their original spots in their original zone.

How many times do I have to kill the orcs to get her to spawn?

Well she doesn't spawn at the orc camp like the post said, she is still in MMC in the Ballroom. At lvl 57 she was green to me. Have fun.

Went slow and steady, like the post downwards said. I came in after getting my Power of Earth. I'm about 3 blues in to 50 and I was a bit nervous about coming in here, what with the chance of dying and all, but I came with my MSII pet and went in all the way around. I came to the ramp in front of the cliff that's required to reach the castle before I ran in to any major problems. That's when I got jumped by several mobs. Well, from my drog (took a LONG time to get!), I nuked while my pet took care of what it could. Afterwards, because I was considerably injured, I got rid of my drog and sat down (for increased health regen after a while). I finished healing up before anything popped and went inside. The two mobs were easily dealt with at the same time by my pet, and I continued to move forward.

Around this time, I got to a room that had a set of stairs on either side. After clearing the area, I moved forward. However, as I got near the end of the hallway type area in between the stairs, I got aggro from several mobs at once. My pet dealt with most of them, but I still had aggro from a wizard and a warrior mob. The warrior I dealt with when I was able to get off spells. This was difficult, as the wizard could stun me if I didn't resist. I managed to kill them both with some hp remaining, and I healed my pet a couple times to ensure it'd survive. It killed at least four mobs, and one of them (a messenger?) conned lblue to me at 50. The ballroom was easy after that, I dealt with the two guards that guarded the stairs down to the music area (or rather, my pet did), and then I sent my pet after the gypsy dancer. My pet killed her in no time and as I was looting the power of wind, one of the gypsy musicians aggro'd me. As my pet was handling her, I looted the wind and gated. I had about 37% hp left, with PoT9, I had a grand total of about 1600, with Phantom Plate on.
Which way in?

Coming in here with a 51 mage running 49 Fire pet. Solo, I think. Would it be better to come in via the secret passage in the graveyard or just work my way in via the front door?

Wow !! I'd like to say nice posts Barmodius & Adolin. That is the exact info I came here to find. I attempted a scouting journey to Mistmoore last night solo to see if I could 1.) find the Ballroom easily & 2.) see what & how many mobs I am gonna be up against. I went during daytime(gametime) so that Veil of Elements would work and I made it into the castle and the hallway inside before something saw invis., needless to say I had no pet up and, thank Mithanial Marr, I gated out with 12% health left. To backup your posts..YES you get aggro from everything in the zone. I'm sure my hunting DL spiders for 4 levels really didn't help me out either :) . Anyway, I had been pondering being able to clear a path in & as to how difficult it would be. Thanks for both your posts & I will give your methods a shot.

I strolled into Mistmoore yesterday to pick up the Power of Wind from the Gypsy Dancer. It was very easy, but time consuming.

Main thing to be wary of at high levels is that the green stuff will aggro and swarm you, but not assist. You can pull singles if you want, but I found it just as easy to send the pet in, and switch it between multiple targets. I started using 51 earth, but found that 49 fire was more effective with multiple mobs because of the higher damage shield. Pet regen kept up with mob damage easily. I cast heal maybe once after he killed 4 mobs just to get him back to 100%.

Take it slow and steady, and you can make it to the ballroom without even getting hit. Use eye of zomm spell or clay bracelet to scout ahead for large groups of mobs. Most of the mobs on the way to the castle entrance have about 600-700hp, and could be killed with a single char. Inside the hp jumped above 1000, but still easily dealt with. Keep Scintillation up in case you do get swarmed. If you can channel 2 of them off, you will kill any mob beating on you.

For the ballroom break, this worked for me: Use Eye of Zomm/Clay Bracelet from the safe hallway, and target the closest mob, and have the pet attack. Keep using the eye and order him to attack all of the mobs near the doorway. Once he is finished, you can go to the doorway and assist him with stuff in the back from outside aggro range.

The Power of Wind (I believe) is an always drop item from the gypsy dancers. I killed 2, and it was on both of them. I looted one and immediately gated to work on other things. From starting the run in PoK to gating back, I got the power of wind in just under 30 minutes.

The key is to take it slow, and use a map. http://maps.eq-toolbox.com/ has downloadable maps of every zone for the new LoY cartography system, and images of the maps if you don't have LoY. It sped up the process immensely having it.

I used the 51 Earth pet and just pulled with Malaise unless they were one of the few caster mobs I found on the way in. Other than the Dark Huntress and one dark blue mob (Sir Brotha or something) who appeared out of nowhere it was pretty easy... biggest problem was finding the ballroom with the map that I had :).

As mentioned, the Clay Bracelet came in really handy, making scouting around pretty trivial, and the first Gypsy Dancer dropped the quest item.
Mage Epic

Went into MM tonight on my 52 mage since I was in the neighborhood (collecting Power of Earth in LFay). I had my 51 Vocerate Pet with Burnout III shield of lava and two symboled daggers. Here is how I got out with my epic item and not a scratch on me... Take things slow. Be patient about getting to the piano room and once you clean a room/area don't worry about sitting, go ahead and med a little. I experienced reasonably slow spawn times. Have gate up at all times, as we have all learned you can die even if your pet is alive just by being swarmed. Go with a map! Or know the zone well so you don't have to fight more mobs than nessesary. Even though everything is green (@52) you will still agro all mobs you get/fight near so make sure you send your pet in ahead of you so he gets all the agro leaving you safely behind him to finish off mobs with a nuke or drop the occasional heal. I nuked some for fun which means dropping them by 75% or more with one char. And I probably healed twice the whole time just to be safe. Beware, the most agro you will ever get is in the piano room because it has the most mobs. Every other spot from zone to castle will mean taking on 3 mobs at a time at most, but the piano room means 6 or so. However, if you are soloing then you have an advantage because only 3 mobs will attack a soloer at one time in this zone. (or maybe thats an EQ rule overall?) Anyway since you are taking on this many in a row be sure to med outside in the room with gargoyles before proceeding into the piano room, again this is not to say this was hard I just mean to be on the safe side. Since everything agros be aware of what your pet is killing. My little Vonn killed the named gypsy and I won myself a lute of the gypsy princess. Furthermore many mobs drop plat and small bronze for your high elf pally alts. Since I got the power of air on the first drop I can't really give more info on the camping of the room such as spawn times, but I'm almost 100% sure if you sit in the middle you will be fine as far as medding goes. Finally once you get the power of air gate out and save yourself the frustration of fighting out. So as a 52+ I'd say don't be discouraged if you have no guild because you can do this on your own. I would say the same for mages in their mid to high 40s, any lower and you might want to bring a friend or a whole group if you can. Lastly since Mayong MM is a GM controled charater and a high lvl Vamp, in the highly slim chance he is up I suggest you gate if you so much as see him casting a spell! That is of course unless you have brought a nice group of 50+ friends to keep you company. Good Luck Mages!
Is a lvl 50 mage able to solo?

Is a lvl 50 Mage able to solo to the ball room and pull the gypsie dancer single out of it?

Dunno. A lot of the stuff in the castle will still be light blue at 50, and casters are hard to keep on the pet.

Power of Wind

It may be coincidence, but 2 times in a row my group killed this thing and it dropped power of wind. My group was 2 mages and a pally, both of us mages going for the power of wind. We killed the dancer, it dropped the power, we waited 30 minutes and another spawned, it dropped another power. My point being it may drop the power every time, it may just have been coincidence.

true... I've had more than one of them place a blade in my back...

But on the other hand, if you actually decide to fight in their room, they are a joke. let them stand there and slash at you, just make sure you have a DS on. As long as they can't see your back, you can leave them to last.
Spawn point/level/abilities
# Jun 09 2000 at 10:52 AM Rating: Decent
These surprisingly low level mobs spawn in the castle, usually at the piano. Don't be fooled by their low level, however. As with all gypsies, they have the ability to backstab for upwards of 150 damage.
