Do you have to get the bag again if you fail on the first attempt? I tried to get the mission again right after we failed and it would not give it to me, so assuming the anser is no or i have to wait like 2 hours or something.
Everyone says the fake is in the northern room, we did this hit 11/10 with 19 toons we killed each of the guardians and went to the western most room. the fake Valdoon was in this area and went down easily. when i had initialy tracked for Valdoon the only 1 showing was in the western most room but, low and behold, after we killed the fake i saw another Valdoon on my track list. we Proceeded to North Room, where monk pulled trash from closer towards his spawn area.we had the bad luck of a pet getting aggro on Vald. we were hoping the aggro had not spread to otehr toons, however after 2 ppl were summoned and killed, we rushed him. had 2 groups on vald and a 3rd group guarding entrance.when we engaged Vald, adds spawned all over the room and started pathing towards valdoon. do not worry about the initial waves of mobs, as the mobs get closer to Valdoon he will absorb them and their hps into his own. after he absorbs the initial wave of mobs your add group should be able to take any adds that spawn from there on out. make sure and have a couple good healers on your tank for yoru add group, and make sure that your add tank is good at drawing aggro on multiple mobs. as indicated in other posts the mobs have weak hp and can be downed fast/ as long as u dont let the adds reach valdoon, his health will not go up. once the adds were under control the rest of the paqrty had relatively no problems dropping this mob
Don't need to kill em, I didn't, left real valdoon at 100%. Helped to pull his room clean cuz he won't summon < 98%. Had 11 people so it wasn't too hard, just make sure you got enough ppl with max radiant cure, and alcohol tolerance helps.
oK GUYS FAIR WARNING BEFORE ATTEMPTING THIS FIGHT MAKE SURE EVERYONE HAS WRKED THERE ALCOHOL TOLERANCE UP. Its a big help, the drunkeness wont get you and the healers wont wable and get there spells interupted, my poor dry cleric was screwed; hell be drinking this weekend heavily in game. Also if either tank dies this guy will do a 50% cheal, the garg adds are about 10k hp, easily killed by wizard, had two groups 2 pallie 2 sks 1 cleric 1 druid and 2 wizzies beast and 2 chanters. Got him to 20% when main tank died and the guy went back up to 70%. Pallies GL this fight sucks
Some random musings on the paladin 2.0 version of the Valdoon encounter:
Fought our way through the zone with 24, about half bots, mains were in qvic level gear, bots were in elemental or below (I think)
Didn't have a pulling class so got typically 3-7 mobs per pull, fewer once we started using a chanter. Killed the 3 Guardians of the Kel'Novar in the zone. This knocked Valdoon's hp down to 85%. We moved towards the westernmost room in the zone, where Kel Novar was located. (There's a fake Valdoon Kel'Novar in the northern-most room. Ignore him) When you get there, you'll need to clear the mobs in the room with him, and to be safe we pet pulled the closest few from the hallway behind him. He's relatively easy to hear. I think we had 3 clerics and a druid doing a CH chain on him. At about 3 minute intervals 3-4 adds charge in from the hallway you came in through. They hit for about 1k each, but have pathetically low hp. (I (paladin) killed one in about 15 seconds). If they manage to get to Valdoon, he kills them and absorbs their hp to heal himself. This is bad.
The most annoying part, and the one that'll kill you if you have undergeared people, is the AE lifetap (listed above). It needs an immediate RGC or higher level radiant cure, so you will need a curer in each group dedicated solely to that.
One extremely annoying thing that isn't mentioned here is his other AE, Seneschal's Petrification. It's an AE mez, unresistable. Fun stuff.
Overall, I'm pretty sure it was the lack of curing that killed us. With an efficient cure team this fight could be done with the 4 groups we had. Too many were botted and focusing on other stuff unfortunately.
Good luck to other paladins trying this event.
Edit: Tried this event again today, had one dedicated curer in every group and amazingly enough, a Psalm of Veeshan bard in every group. We focused on the adds when they popped, and they went down in 10 seconds or less, then went back to Valdoon. He died in 3-4 minutes. AE mezz was the most annoying part of the whole thing. (Also, -100 chromatic is inaccurate for whatever reason. With 600 to all resists I got hit by all but 2 AE's)
Edit 2: It appears the location of the 'true' Valdoon changes, the first two times we did this he was in the west room. The third time, he was in the north room. If you're doing this, clear to the Valdoon who's at 85% after you kill the Guardians.
The picture shows a yellow target circle around him which means he is level 71-72, not level 75 as listed. The target circle would appear red if that were the case.
