Confirmed Spawn Location on this guy is +1335,-1062 Between Steamfont and Greater Faydark ZL...He is very fast and stops at various places on the map.

He has more then 1 spawn location but 3 of 5 spawns were in that very spot.

Have been killing the 3 spawn Brownie Scouts near center of map. And Thistle Underbrush seems to pop a lot when you only kill these.

I spent a day haning out in Lower Fay waiting for these guys to pop and none ever did. Day two I decided to see if I could find a placeholder for them. I started killing trash mobs (skeletons, wasps, giant spiders, etc.) and sure enough I got Thistle to spawn. I did this for about an hour and got 6 Thislte Underbrush to spawn but 0 Bracken Underbrush. Seems that Thistle is on the lower level mobs spawn table, but Bracken isn't.

Careful, some of the lower level mobs have factions associated with them. Faire, Pixies, Fae Drakes, come to mind.

OHH so this guys respawn time is compeletely random? Was afraid he never spawned anymore. I like thw powders, the funny toys. When the potion belt first came out these were bugged for about 2days, they had infinite charges...

I came to this page when looking up the Pouch of Mistletoe Powder. It is used in the HIE Journeyman Moonglade armor (DoN). It seems very odd to me that this item only drops from 2 named mobs (unless this was changed with the release of DoN). I don't suppose many HIE smiths are going to even bother with those recipes if the materials needed are difficult to obtain. (It's not very good armor in the first place.)

The expert level moonglade armor requires Fungus Sap which is a common drop in the Gunthak tunnels and can usually be found on the Gunthak merchants.

Just my 2cp worth.

I have been chasing Thistle Underbrush for quite a while collecting all of the Mistletoe Powder for a full suit od DoN Wood Elf Journeyman chain. Some of the info on Thistle is either old or incorrect.

Notes on hunting Thistle Underbrush:

1. His spawn time is random and can be anytime during the day. Older posts suggest that he only spawns at night. This is incorrect as I have killed him at 1 AM game time and had him, respawn a few minutes later. I have also gone a full game day without having him spawn.

2. He can respawn very fast. One respawn I timed was less than 90 seconds after I killed him. His old corpse had not even decayed.

3. Thistle can spawn anywhere in the zone and then he runs all over the zone stopping at various points.

4. I have not found a trigger to get him to spawn, so I sit back and kill brownie scouts and other things and check tracking after each kill.

5. He runs at SoW speed. With SoW, I have kept pace and possibly even gained on him.

6. You need track to find him. I sit approx in the middle of the zone (near Leaf Dao) where I can track the shadowed men, brownie merchants, and wayfarers simultaneously.

7. Watch the adds. Brownie Scouts, Equestriell, Shadowed Men, and others will make quick work of anybody under L35.

8. When killing Thistle, keep him snared or rooted to avoid a steeple chase. Once acquired, I usually root, snare, kill.

Hope that helps those who are seeking to craft their DoN journeyman armor.

i was going to the one of the Ldon camps and got aggroed on by this little guy. So I wiped the floor with him as my 55 war, and then I sent a ooc out in the zone for anyone wanting to loot it and got no response. Once I waited long enough I looted him and looked up on our friend Allah to see what I might of got for an alt. And then I found out his quest item is from the original game (or as close as you can get). Is it just me or should some of the older items that are just above crap be revamped or dare I say removed from the game. I know it's a radical idea but it's time to get some of the stuff that gives you a nearly useless reward for the shere amount of trouble you go through to get them, out of the game. But thats just my 2cents

Most of these items aren't crap, they just aren't as good as they used to to the lvl they were originally intended for. They are still useful, just to a lower lvl range. Take BABS for example. This used to be THE SWORD to have. It is still a good weapon, just now it is used at lvl ranges 10 to maybe 30, instead of the high end game. With all the twinking and double boxing out there today, these lower lvls can get to these things, too.

So, they're not crap, and we're all defending the blatant twinking that's going on as SOE releases money-grab after, er, i mean, expansion after expansion.

Sounds good.

Oh yes, and lete a noob park their character at the aqua goblin camps for unlimited cash sources to buy these outdated peices of junk. That makes it better.

Just took him down with my 38 ranger. Tracked him to the north side of the zone, near the middle.

He ran just faster than SoW.
He casts a damage shield as well as what looks to be firefist
The highest he hit me for was 37.
He casts Ignite, Careless Lightning, Grasping roots and Cancel Magic.
He respawned soon after I had killed him.
No messages about faction hits, but brownies are now threatening.

Oh he dropped the rune of ivy, braided ivy cords, brownie parts and a Topaz.

I used to hunt this annoying lil' fella back in my 'youth', but then moved on. Reciently I had to come back for the Tainted/Corrupted Brownie and I noticed a few things.
1.) Brownie Scouts arn't as spell happy as they once were.
2.) Thistle doesn't spawn as frequently.

I also been farming the village for chocolate (parts) and think that Thistle is much slower in respawn.

He spawns over near the Pixie Tower. Somewhere between there and the Brownie outpost. I have been hunting him down while farming brownie parts from the town. Just today I killed him FIVE times in a row. I would kill scouts between pops at the town, so I think this makes him pop. He is incredibly fast, maybe a little faster than SoW. Only has about 900hp. He does cast very quickly and can make short work of anyone not prepared up to the mid 30's. He Drops a Rune of Ivy every time. Then it will rotate between the Braided Ivy Chords or the Bag of dust, which has 2 charges of charm animal. He usually drops brownie parts also.

In my sequence of killing him 5 times, he dropped the dust the first 3 times and the chords the last two.

He does not despawn, but you only have 5-10 minutes before his roaming takes him by the Ranger outpost and they make short work of him.

This is because of the newbie quests in GFay and Steamfont. They added lowbie brownies to those zones that drops pieces for newbie armour quests. Looks like all the old, higher-level brownies have the same drop tables.

Well i can confirm that she pops about every 10-20 min and runs in a random pattern over most of Gfay, another thing is that shes a druid and a dman fast one, had a hared time tracking and following with G wolf form..

a few tips: if you can get buffed with fire and magic resists its all she uses, sh dose actually hit hard, but try and snare or root her cause she can run real fast, best place to find her is near the bandits sisters or the faires, she spot at certin points every so often so ill try and get the locs whil im camping her _g-Luck

Yes, he pops at night, at least he does on Erollisi Marr server. Waiting with a friend for the necro to show up, had the right set up and the right time for that (12:AM Norrathian tim), when who should come shooting down the hill than ole Thistle himself. Hung around the top step of the obelist and made a nuisance of himself until my bud, 42 druid Human, says "Get 'im". So we did. Lost the necro, maybe, because of him. She killed and looted him, got the braids, powder, brains AND the rune of ivy. LOL! And I'm the RANGER! No worries, no harm, no foul. He's there and the next I am, he's mine! )

As a 29 Druid I was able to take him out 5 times. He dropped the BIC 3 times and the mistletoe powder twice. Also brownie parts and a pearl and jade shard as well as rune. He hangs around the rangers. at neg 300 1200 so you should get him on track there if hes popped. I find that he will try to root, uses Ignite, and Stinging swarm (multiple times, which amuses me) at 650hp or so with buffs and resist fire up (important) i am usually down to 30% life by the end and 20-40% mana depending on ressist (150 wis) never had an add but imagine scouts will assist. Also be careful of Equestrille, if shes on track u might think twice about engaging. Never had her help, but she randomly has HT'ed me several times for 401 as i explored the zone. Wolf form is recommended, as brownies are not KOS to it, but some dwarfs or gnomes or something are so watch out. I think that is all. Hope this helps anyone questioning thier ability to kite Thistle.

You should be able to take him. Just be in wolf form and buffed and follow him around with track. He stops from time to time. So when he stops in an area that is clear from aggressive mobs, snare and root him, then blast away. You should be fine.

I tried him at 26 (druid) today, left my top 2 buff slots open to dispell snare and dot, allmost had him meleeing and whirling wind (fast to interupt his heal casting) along with the regular dot / nuke. Soo close - but Died. Immediately memed a couple spells, tracked and finished him nekid. He didn't drop the braid, I tried again, this time kiting, but went oom with both of us at a quarter health (147 wis). I wasn't interupting his heals well enough without melee. Would have been easy though with a tank assisting.

Soloed this little bastard at 29 with a few cleric buffs to up my HP. Wasn't too bad, but he took me down to one bub of health. Just be sure to cast Resist Fire on yourself and have some decent magic resist. He will despell you and nuke you most of the time and may also try to root you. I just kept up my melee and dual weilded to interupt his spells while continuasly casting Ignite. Also be sure to snare him so he doesn't try to run away because he is fast. He dropped the rune of ivy and mistletoe powder for me.

If you are a warrior trying to solo him, make sure you have your resists up and have a ranger track him for sure because he can run all over the zone. Good luck. :)

He is always up no matter what.. youll find him around 500, 500. But the fun part was watching him die.. lol.. anyway.. i didnt get him on the first try but someone camping him before hand gave me the ivy cords. Then he popped and I killed him and just got 4 items... brownie parts, misletoe powder, rune of ivy, and a page 490. Loads of fun.

Took 2 firestrikes and a dot to whip his ass. He will disspell you, but still buff anyway. I managed to keep my fire resist and regen up. The dot only made me lose 1hp bub... no big deal.

I killed Thistle four times before I finally got the cords, and here's how I did it.

Each time, as soon as I zone into LFay, I put up wolf form, skin like steel, and resist fire. I med up till I have about 4 bubs of mana, then I begin tracking. Each time, he was never on track right at the zone, so I went west. He eventually pops up on track right around the middle of the zone.

When I see him, I immediately ensnare him. He usually casts ignite before he runs toward me, and I cast Combust on him until he's dead (he doesn't resist much.. I usually cast it around 5-6 times? I can't remember for sure). I melee, to interrupt his spells, and the DS doesn't really bother me. He usually casts Creeping Crud about halfway through the fight. He tried to root me also, but out of the many times he attempted, he only succeeded twice. Root doesn't stick long, either... maybe 30 seconds.

When he dies, I usually have 1-2 bubs of mana left (at 163 wis) and about half-life (I have approx. 730 hp with SLS).

The first time I got him, he popped up again right as I had finished medding. After I killed him the second time, I waited around for 15-20 minutes and he didn't respawn, so I left the zone. I zoned in yesterday, killed him again, waited around again, didn't respawn. Today, I killed him and he finally dropped the cords.

Granted, I could have camped him for hours to get the cords, but I get impatient. ;) If you don't want to camp him, just zone in once in awhile, and he'll probably be there. The zone is fairly empty except for people traveling to and from Mistmoore.. I have only seen someone else kill Thistle once in the time I spent there.

Hope this helps. :)

I would say no. I'm lvl 31 and I was sitting at the GFay zone in LFay foraging for morning dews when he popped right in front of me - conned blue. And man does he run fast! I wasn't able to get a snare off until he stopped to buff himself.

I was able to take him down (and not aggro the pained unicorn, whom I had seen a few minutes early), but I had 1 bub of health left. No cords, but then I wasn't expecting to see ole Thistle either. =)

I was here for my Warden of Tunare quest at level 20 camping the necro. Once, Thistle ran right by me incredibly fast and I wasn't even in wolf form. I was surprised it didn't attack me. I hear he doesn't have any faction hits, but then I also hear that he is aggressive. What is it? Maybe I was hiding. I'm thinking about coming back to lfay to camp this guy. I'm a 25th druid now. If i buff, snare, root, nuke, nuke, nuke, nuke, nuke, nuke, nuke. Will i survive?

I almost didn't kill him. He runs like crazy. So first...do ye old root/snare...and keep after him...

Might want to dispell him first as he has a damage shield on

I was camping Ghoul Boss for my ranger yesterday at undead tower. Took 2 hours to get him to spawn. In that time, Thistle showed up on track 6 times. He was in all different directions so I can't tell you where to find him, just use that as a starting point. Hope it helps.

I went hunting Thistle for the first time. Had Skin Like Steel, Bramblecoat, Wolform, Resist Fire up. Zoned in from Steamfont area. Brought up track & at the very bottom was Thistle. Threw on Sup Camo & took chase. He was standing in a small valley all alone. Unfortunatley he called for help & a brownie scout got me. I recovered my corpse & buffed myself, brought up track & he was still there! Took chase again & killed him. He dropped the Cords, some words, a gold ring, brownie parts, & a no-drop rune with I didn't loot. He was roughly in the middle of the zone right off the path. At 29th lvl he was a pushover.

Thistle/Equestrielle the Corrupt

OK, stand corrected while trying to do 2nd Tunare quest. Equestrielle the Corrupt sees right through your Superior Camo and all other forms of invis (had 35 Wiz with me) He was yellow to me at 39 and as he attacked my Wizzy friend, I tried to snare, root, DD it and nothing touched it. Think enchanter is needed to debuff his magic resistance to try and kill it at this lvl. All I can say to any lowbies trying to kill Thistle, careful, this horse can nail you for 400pts of dmg in one hit.

G'day, I'm quite sure it doesn't, I spent a lot of times camping the Nybright sisters when I was in my hign teens and crossed its way more than I'd have wanted to, and the only times I got aggroed and killed were when I had not Camo up (15th lvl Ranger spell). Hope this helps
