I hated these little things since my poor pally was a baby and my chanter was a baby, they killed me dead I dont know how many times in lfay. Now at lvl 65 chanter I DC the guard and slaughter the entire village to get even......
Easy as pie. Revenge is sweet.
but........
Sony got the last laugh
for enchanter epic 2.0 you have to talk to a brownie noble who is located in lfay and now that I have killed these nasty rotten things for revenge/brownie parts, wonder if I will be able to talk to that noble.

I double checked my information about invisibility not working on the brownies and I can now say that I was wrong. Brownies can't see invisible... I must have done something to make it fall while I was close to them that I didn't realize I had done. So, if anyone saw what this post used to say, disregard it. Brownies can't see invisible... so you're safe.

BARD SPEED

When travellling through LF Bards have a decent time. Selo's is faster than SOW if you're not encumbered. Also combine with the 4th lvl corpsse location song, and corpse recovery is not too difficult. I reccommend having selo's, Lyrissa's corpse direction (can't remember the full name), and drag set as hot keys. I've spent the last few nights helping people get there corpse back this way.
Basically, get a consent from them, walk into LF, sing your lvl 4 song (it will point you to the corpse), turn on selos and start running. once you can see the corpse, hit /corpse constantly... turn around and run back. Always zone into GF, you never know what is following. Wait 2-3 minutes for whatever was following you to go away. Send the other person in to get their stuff. Pretty easy. I've done the whole circle in about 8 minutes with a 13 lvl bard.

annoying !@#$ers!
# Jun 28 2002 at 9:57 PM Rating: Default
I was wandering through Lfay when i was about lv 8-9 and a lil dude came running up to me and a whacked me for about 40 damage a few times REALLY fast and ran off...

Lv 25 now and decided to see how tough the little !@#$ers were, I had 2 level 60 enchanter buffs on (haste and some mana regen spell) and protection of the glades i think. I finally found one at the same time he found me... I was able to hit him every time doing around 60-65 dmg per hit and he was not very visible losing health. I on the other hand was getting nuked out the a!@ and switched to my sword(22 dly) and was finally able to interrupt spells... may sound crazy but if I had a friend there about lv 25 or so the brownie would have died, I had to run once i got to about 2 bubbles of health (stupidly forgetting i had LoH up) they seemed to not hit as fast as when i was a lower lv but for more damage(up to 70melee 200+nuke) as i was running I was still getting nuked but for around 50-80 this time... they all seem to be different from one another.

WORD OF ADVICE!: watch your back... and have a few high lvls watch it as well :)

These damnable creatures are too quick and powerful - they remind me of a Video Game I had years ago on a (gulp! showing my age) Sega Genesis, called "Rings of Power. At random times the screen would go blank and you'd get a message "[Fill in Name of the Ultimate Bad Guy Here] Has Found You - Game Over" Like I even knew he was looking for me!

I think the Message "Brownie Casts a Spell" is kinda like that - it really means "Oops - your connection/character/etc. has become unstable and you are about to receive the EQ version of the Windows Blue Screen(eam) of Death - "You Have Died - Loading".

LOL

First off, use Alliance on the Brownie Gaurds, which should make you no longer KOS with them. Then, move into the city. You probably will still be too low to do business with the brownie merchants, so use your level 1 Minor Illusion while standing next to the merchant. This should turn your faction to Indifferent, and you'll be close enough to buy the spell. Then you can Gate away.

I'm a ranger and I heard that lfay is pretty safe to a ranger cause you can track the MOBs so I was wondering if the really talented rangers have a easy time in this zone or if what I heard was some trap so I'll lose my corpse I do think that knowing if they are coming would help but I want an experts opinion first

Cannot run
# Jul 08 2001 at 1:03 PM Rating: Default
Ok people, most cannot outrun these things, even with sow. Why? Ok, think about it. All the brownie types are druids, right? Well, PC druids get SoW, so why shouldn't they? So if you have sow on you, don't think you can outrun them.

I was in Lfay roaming around on my 17 druid (I thought I was in Steamfront, lol) and after 10 minutes of wandering on the path ran into a scout. I remembered tales of how powerful they were, so I decided to run, thinking I could outrun them with sow. WRONG! He was still hitting me from behind, and I know because I turned around after running a good distance, and he was right there. He rooted, then a simple DD,

LOADING, PLEASE WAIT...

Only if you were a high lvl bard with an instrument in hand would you be able to outrun these things (probably Spirit of Cheetah too)

My GOD!
Me (Level 40 enchanter) and a 55 paladin saw one that conned blue to him and yellow to me. That puts the beast at 41. A paladin on haste with Lay hands against a stunned and debuffed brownie, and being nuked for 288.. We barely put a dent in that thing. It would take a group of 2 50-ish tanks, and a cleric minimum to take these things out.

Brownie Safety Tips!
# Mar 17 2001 at 4:30 PM Rating: Default
Brownies can be mean lil' buggers. They always will. Although there are a few tricks for safe travel.

1. Invis! They can't see you. Works well.

2. Wolf Form! Wolf for makes them like you. In fact they will like you enough that they will sell to you in their brownie village.

3. Tree Form! Works as well. Can buy and sell and also wave at the brownies. Guess they are tree huggers too.

Only other safe way to travel to zones in Lfay is walking th walls. To get to Steamfront you need to walk left from Gfay zone. To MM it is safer to walk this same way, past the shadowmen, and walk around the Tier'dal camp that is next to the wall. The Tier'dal will smack you silly. Safe to walk around them till you see the wood elf camp, then turn back and keep heading along the wall till you meet MM. This way leads you to the Sisters Nybright camp, Tier'dal, Wood Elf, Orc Chief, and Fae Drakes.

I myself am angry with the adding of Brownie Scouts. I used to hunt bandits and other things in the zone and thanks to Verant they ruined that. The following are some unsafe locations.

NEVER follow the paths! 4 brownie scouts are on the random paths.

Bandits camp #1 (The dervs, not the nybright sisters) located near the Pixie Camp has one near there. The Brownie Scout is right on the hill that you cross where you will begin to see the palm trees that you only get on that side of the forest. Sometimes walking to wall will get you nailed by him.

As a druid of 36 I got jumped by one of these and It was YELLOW "brownie scout glares at you threatningly -- looks like he would wipe the floor with you." and he did.
These tiny little things runn around and you cant see them till they cast something. Even if the ones that spawn at the pixie tower or correctly figured at 15 you still have a high chance of meeting one of the tougher ones. O and thy can NOT see through camo. Had 2 pass me right by whill sitting down.
RE: waisted me at 36

I was a 12 ranger doin the tunic quest. I pared up with a hi level druid in wolf form who was after thistle for the head thingy he drops. I had died twice just trying to get to him. Just as he camoed me, the bubbles still in the air a brownie ran litraly ran between my legs (I had rear camra on). 2 things I learned: they cant see through camo, and they dont bother wolf from.

BTW they are different classes some druids some rangers. The 2 that killed me attaced diffrently after rereading the battle text.

Outcast Brownie for Ivy Legs
# Aug 28 2000 at 5:03 PM Rating: Default
First off let me say that the level listed here is off by at least 50%. I am level 36 and it conned blue to me. Also, in the time I took it's life down by almost 1/4, it was one hit from sending me to my binding point.

Best spot to hunt for these is around the Fairie Village (approx loc: +1100, +3600). Kill all the Pixie Tricksters and Pranksters you can and keep checking your radar (even though the one that wasted me didn't show on radar but I could hear it casting).

I recommend the first spell you hit this with is dispel or something similar. The one I "fought" had a damage shield on it. It pulled the old root-n-blast on me and as I stated before, I barely put a dent in it.

Suggestions: Pull this little (I mean little) guy away from the Fairie Village, if another Outcast pops... Loading, Please Wait.

These guys didn't even touch my ranger at level 20.

Had 4 level 30-33 group with me and they wiped the floor with these guys. The ones with the arrows are bownie outcasts. Don't even think about touching other brownies unless you want your factions to take a real nose dive.

The brownies can be found at the pixie tower, kill the outcasts and tricksters, and this takes a hell of a long time, eventually an outcast will spawn.

While killing the pixies this is a good time to collect pixie dust to sell to low level rangers who want to do the quest for them.

I thought I'd sneak around in Lesser Faydark with my lvl 18 Ranger to check out the brownie camps, since I can start on the Ivy Etched quests soon... threw on my camo and walked into the brownie villiage itself. I accidentally right-clicked on one of the merchants... BIG MISTAKE! "Don't you wood elves have your own merchants? Get out of here!" Next thing I know I'm rooted in the middle of camp, being smacked with some really nasty DoT's... I think I lasted about two seconds. Evil little beings, they are... don't go near 'em.

with 2 at L 30 they will kill you and your partner so easy it is not funny. they are druids with all the pre nerf abilities. a ranger would be hard pressed to solo these at less than L 39. yes you heard right L 39 because if there are 2 you need SOW to gety away. hey go for it at lower level but be warned they are tough casters.
