It's not a monster, it's an animal, the spell "befriend animal" works like a charm on them.
BTW on TLP server, with only kunark unlocked, i killed like 20 of them and got ZERO egg. The basilisk hatchling in nektulos dropp an egg nearly everytime though.

I was farming eggs for baking here today and had a couple of strange things drop off the Balisks.

Stonefruit 0.0 wt (non-food) looks like a ball of clay.

Lava Pears (also not a food) This one says Class:ANY Race:FRG so I'm assuming this item for a Froglok quest.

Anyone have any info/ideas on these items? I have a real bad habit of not being able to toss out anything until I find out what its for. Thank goodness for the new added bank space!
Eggs ?

Exactly what are their Eggs used for? I have like a dozen Grade-A... just kidding, but killing them for their Eyestalks and the Eggs are REAL common.

Thanx !!

AHA. I see now that a Basilisk Egg yields 15 clumps of dough when mixed, as compared to a Snake Egg which yields 1 clump. And I believe Dragon Eggs yield 20. Now I see why the Basilisk Egg is wanted by bakers.
I hope this helps others, I know I was baffled for quite a while myself!!

The eggs are truly a god send for making dough for baking. And up to 3 eggs can drop from a single lava basilisk. Good spot to find them is around the vendors tent camp. But they spawn all over the zone.
Sold 6 eggs for 30 pp

I would like to thank the 53 Dwarf that needed these eggs for dough. Never sold so few for so much before. He was very kind to a level 19 Mage that needed pp for spells and spell components and spell research.

these things were preety tuff at 16. it seemed like i attacked once every 10 seconds cuz the stun. If its even or yellow to u i wouldnt recommend attacking it. then again u might have a crazy magic res.

just my 2 coppers worth
HAHAHAHA!

I love these things, i kill them by the millions, and give the eggs away, no use for them from me, but they drop basalisk eye stalks :) I use them on my rogue to make a poison that slows the opponent! Can you believe that? IT SLOWS THEM. I can now reverse kite on my ROGUE!

I have a level 16 SK, and still come across an occasional yellow LB. Maybe this is the one that is supposed to drop the bracer?
level
# Jul 08 2001 at 7:27 PM Rating: Decent
upper level on these is incorrect, there might be a small gap in them after 14 but I can still get an xp giving green and rare blues at 22...
(higher level ones *seem* to drop more eggs though not sure, got 4 off a blue today, mm 2 plat worth)
if you are grouped these are easy :)
also low conning ones are easy or if you have good magic res
soloing yellows is a bad idea though, stun will rip you.
Easy

These guys are easy, they have failed to stone me in over 60 tries, of course my MR is at 63...

Also, the eggs they drop are AWESOME for us bakers, they convert into *15* dough each, much better than having to get extorted by newbies.
question about lava basilisk
# Mar 18 2001 at 2:48 PM Rating: Default
those creature are involve in a magic item that im looking for, basilisk bracer, but in this in this web site it says that those bracer are dropped by Deep lava basilisk, So are the DLB are LB ??? cause they dont talk a bout DLB
RE: question about lava basilisk
# Aug 13 2002 at 4:40 AM Rating: Decent
From what I understand the Deep Lava Basilisk is a rare spawn & for some off reason spawns IN a lava pit so that's why you don't see him, he's hiding in lava.

I killed 3 today and only saw eggs. Of course at level 10, I am not going after some of um... Check the post "Strange", he found something...well....strange.
Strange...
# Nov 10 2000 at 2:03 AM Rating: Decent

I've been in Lavastorm a few times at various levels, and I've found the lvl range 11-14 to be generally right... but today I saw one that not only was KoS to me but conned even! I checked several times that yes this indeed was 'A Lava Basilisk' and not something else I was accidentally conning. I didn't attack it because I had just leveled to 18 and didn't want to lose it... I make it a policy to not solo anything that repeatedly stuns you for 10 seconds at a time.
these things dont stun
# Jun 18 2000 at 6:48 PM Rating: Decent
these things dont stunn pets. i figured this out by just watch ing my pet take it on and then i want up stunned the crap out of me but i soloed it at lvl 9 im a DE necro
Stoning
# Mar 01 2000 at 11:00 AM Rating: Decent
I don't suggest soloing these basilisks, especially if you're a melee class. These basilisks will stone/stun you a lot. I spent one notable battle once spinning around in circles stunned while my pet killed it.
Lava Basilisk
# Mar 01 2000 at 11:00 AM Rating: Decent
I have found soloing Lava Basilisk to be fairly easy using a Water pet with fire shield. Also, the eggs they drop are worth 6gp and stack!
They're animals
# Feb 28 2000 at 3:51 PM Rating: Decent
They're also viable druid pets to use against low-level imps. Of course that stun is plenty dangerous, so when it turns on you it's a nasty prospect. Stick to the high greens.
