Hey it looks like he wants to kiss you. Maybe instead of attacking him you should try to kiss him. it might help in the quest for the bracers.

just a thought.

I also would like to thank Krynik, I went to that same Island and sat at eye level in the water and sure enough there he was swimming around. I got him with no trouble. I am lvl 53 paly so he went down easy. Now I need to get him 3 more times for both bracers. Just doing the quest so I can have the full set of armor and for the fun of it. Hope this helps!!
Found him S of lookout
# Mar 05 2002 at 3:11 PM Rating: Decent
I just tried to find the netmaster for the first time last night. I swam straight south from the SK entrance and went to the avaiak lookout island. I used the sense undead trick to look for his pet and found it and the netmaster swimming straight south of the island. Killed the netmaster and took his net. I had the help of a 36 monk but I don't know if I needed it or not (I'm 33).

Ok, replying to my own post. I went back to get my 2nd net and went to the aviak lookout island again. Sensed dead, found pet and swam to him. Net master wasn't with him and when I killed him no one came. Later a friend found him and we attacked him but when we killed him (at least I think we did, his health bar was empty) he despawned. We fought him in the water because I read about despawning on land but it doesn't seem to matter where you fight.

OK, I read all the comments here, so decided the easiest way would be to use sense undead, and if I located a net master pet, kill it and that would bring the goblin to me. Swam to the tower island (number 15 on EQAtlas map), used Sense Undead and sure enough, pointed me directly south. Swam towards it, cast stun to pull it, got back to the island and took it out in short order. Waited. Waited. Waited. Waited. Get the idea? Goblin never came for me. Used Sense Undead again. Nice, another gob pet. Same direction, south, but much further than the other one, all the way to the unmarked island due south of tower island. It's more of a big rock than an island actually, with the north-facing wall so steep you can't even climb it. Took skelly in water. Waited. Waited. Waited. Waited. Getting the idea again? Nothing coming. No more pets came up with sense undead. Managed to get a druid to come help me, she tracked one in the water, close to the gypsy camp on the southern edge (numer 9 at EQAtlas). Took him out in a rather lengthy fight in the water (first time I've ever fought something in water, had trouble staying targeted and not sinking underneath or swimming up to high). Didn't do much damage to me, druid only threw a heal or two on me and finished fight only down a bub. Dropped the first net. Gonna go back tonight and try and get another one at least, hopefully 3 so I can get a pair of bracers. But, a tracker is essential IMHO.

I was swimming around building up swimming. I saw 6 a goblin net masters pet near the surface of the water. Didn't see the Gobbies though, just pets. Saw 2 pets near the barbarian fishing village, and 4 near orcs out int he water.

ok i am a lvl 30 rogue on ayonae ro and i was in lake rathe yesterday just seeing what was there since i couldnt get a group in rathe mountains when i see a goblin net masters pet. he conned green and i was bored so i said sure why not. then after i killed him i went to right next to the rathe mountains zone line and sat and waited i new that the net master would come. well sure enough he comes right to me and the first thing he did was nuke me for 350 and the message said that i was struck down by writhe. well thank god i had lvl 53 cleric buffs and i continued to melee him with him only trying to cast one more time with a fear spell which i easily resisted. i got him down to about 5percent health and he had me to about 1percent. i shouted for help that i was zoning and did so then. i zoned back in and a kind lvl 45 pally had finished him off and said that i was free to loot the net because he already had all his ro armor. ow i know your saying i have no use for the net but my guild has been very kind to me and i am doing favors back for all members mostly the quest armors for them. now i hope that this info helps anyone out there that is interested in this mob and good luck with the fight he is kinda tough but not to terribly bad. and btw he conned even to me at 30 so the posted lvl is wrong.

Your post read "not so hard a mob"... You had 52 cleric buffs and couldn't solo him, needed another higher lvl pally to help,I think your post title should have some relation to what you are saying.....

Use sense undead. Since this gobby is a SK, he usually has a pet skelly. Sense undead will find pet. Attack pet and gobby comes.

...do what I did on Monday, and pull the darn thing out of the water. If he's on land, then he won't bolt when he runs low on hit points. Of course, this may simply have had to do with the fact that he didn't get a Fear to stick, this time around.

Endure Magic, fellow paladins--your best buddy for this encounter.

Ran into this one last night, and, boy, is it ugly. So, I followed Kyrnik's advice, and, sure enough, within about an hour or so, there swims my quarry, within spell range. So, I slap a Stun on him to pull him, and in he comes. We fight underwater (I had LH up, so I wasn't worried about his Harm Touch and Lifetaps), and, all of a sudden, after about a minute--whap! He gets a Fear to stick.

Now, this is where it gets really bizarre. I'm at about 2712, -375 during the battle. I end up clear across the zone, at about 3000, 2000 (near the gnolls) *immediately*. I mean, it's as if I was teleported there, which means, I must have ended up at an NPC pathing problem spot. To top it off? Net master suicides. I see his pet wandering around aimlessly on my way back. No net master, completely dropped off tracking. Another two hours to wait.

This is yet another pathing issue which *really* needs to be addressed. If you try to draw him on land, you take the chance that he'll sit still and cast at you instead of pulling. If he gets a Fear spell to stick, it looks like he'll get away. I wish I could say this had been fixed, but it hasn't.

Kyrnik speaks the truth
# Feb 21 2001 at 4:32 PM Rating: Default
I just want to say thanks to Kyrnik for his post entitled "Where I found this guy". I went to exactly where he said, stuck my head in the water and 2 minutes later the Netmaster swam by. A few observations/comments:
- For some reason, ducking (hitting the "d" key) made it easier to get eye level with the water (and thus be able to see everything under the water).
- The Netmaster's path brings him into your line of view from the right AT FIRST, but if you wait about 5 minutes, he will come back from the left and will be much closer to shore.
- I attacked him twice when he was coming from the left and the battle went exactly the same both times, as follows: I hit him, he HT'd me for about a bub and a half (I have ~1300HPs), then he feared me...I ran up onto the land but the pathing there prevented me from running very far. As soon as fear ran out, I closed with him (on land) to melee. He never cast again and I proceeded to chop him up (he can melee decently, but not as good as a 35th level Paladin). When his HPs got low enough, he ran into the water where I killed him.
- I have heard horror stories about this guy de-popping and "suiciding" (same thing?) but I didn't encounter that at all. Based on my experience and comments made by others, this de-popping either has something to do with him dying on land, you using magic (as opposed to melee) to attack him or both...or neither and I was just damn lucky that he didn't de-pop when I was fighting him.
- As I have said, I am a 35th level Paladin and I had no trouble at all taking this guy down...I got down to about 2 bubs of Heath and didn't use Lay Hands.
- He is definitely a 2 hour spawn give or take.

Anyway, I got my 2 nets and tonight I will be turning them in for the mold. I have a bar of Ronium already so I'll have me my Bracer of Ro.

Thanks again to Kyrnik and good luck to any one else trying this quest.

No more suicide from what i can tell
# Feb 23 2001 at 12:37 AM Rating: Default
Ok .. i've killed him about 5 times .. all five helping other pallys doing the quest .. I have actually fought them about 12 times counting suicides ... The last 4 times i killed em 3 with my pally once with my druid n friends they never suicide and was fought on land. I do believe the suicide rate on many of the eq mobs that used to suicide have been reduce to almost nil .. As before if i even got the netmaster close to land it was a failed fight .. mind you the last 4 times i killed them was within the last 2 months or so and i've pulled everyone of them on to land and killed em there.. so with the removig of the smithing skill check to make Ro and now spawns we can actually kill the new generation of Pallyswill find the road to Ro much easier than it was before .. good luck all and Yes you will still want that Ro armor post 40 :-)
i hate this thing!

when i was lvl 33 i was levitated running over the water when this goblin cast all these fear and slow spells on me. It broke my lev and it got rid of my sow. I had to struggle to land and died right before i hit land. I had a necro summon my corpse which cost me 200pp and wil never run over the water again especially with goblins around!
Net Master
# Feb 03 2001 at 5:08 PM Rating: Default
I received my two nets required for the mold in nearly no time at all. In a matter of 2 hours The goblin net master spawned twice, Once we got to him, and the other, someone else did. But the night before my party zoned in just as he spawned. Both times he droped the net, and My partner and I were both level 30. By the end of the fight both times we were both down 1/2 life, but we had no trouble fighting him, he was white to us once, the second time yellow. We even brought the net master On land to fight twice. No despawning while on land contrary to belief.
this guy just a pain

killed this guy twice by 2 spawn island. he does harm touch early on. takes about 3 nukes to kill him so he has about 1500 hps. he mainly is a nuisance(sp) to newbies. an easier kill than webclaw by far

Where I found this guy.
# Sep 14 2000 at 6:48 PM Rating: Excellent
I camped this guy on 9-14-00. Took me 7hrs, but I spent 5hrs just trying to find him. Using the map on eqatlas.com, I evenually found my way to an island with a stone tower on it. Loc is 2712,-375. I went to the corner of the island where the boat was docked. I waded into the water just to eye level so that I could see just as well below water as I could above. I oriented myself so that I was facing northwest. I then waited. The netmaster came swimming by around 5:55pmEST. I quickly went after him. He HT'd me at first. He hit me once with darkness and once with fear. As far as melee, he never hit me for more than 68dmg. I fought him totally in water since I had heard he poofs if you try to bring him on land. At lvl 40, I had no problems hitting him. Did'nt even need LoH. Although he did have me under 2 bubbles of health. I defeated him and he dropped the net. I then returned to that same spot and waited. Exactly 2 hrs later he came swimming by again. Same story as before. And again he dropped the net. Good luck to everyone.
Net master and his pathing
# Sep 01 2000 at 11:36 PM Rating: Default
I spotted him, and followed him around before attacking him IN THE WATER. A fellow dwarf pally was camping him, so I decided to wait at his spot. He shot some arrows at him and netmaster depopped. Two hours later,(other dwarf left, muahahah), there he was. I was camped at the island with the Erudites, where the boat usually is. I saw him far off, to the right, in between the Rathe mountains docks, and the bandit camp. I followed him, as my heart pounded in my chest. He went to the bandit shore, stopped a ways away, and just floated there undulating like those gobbies do. Then he made a beeline to flame island. He then changed directions and headed for 1k. I would like everyone reading this to note NOT ONCE did he go on land. He swam past 1k, on a south course until he came close to the gypsy docks. Once again he stopped, waited for a bit, then swam back the opposite way to 1k again. I think I got too close and he harm touched me, and I thought I was doomed to witness his depop. I closed in quick and started whacking him. I never once casted on him. Maybe melee is the trick. We were in the water the whole time and he didn't depop. He hit hard, but I got down to half a bubble and LOH on meself. I killed him with about two bubbles of life left after that. Every time I went up for air I was scared to death he would depop. But he didn't. Anyways, that's my analysis of his pop, pathing, and battle strategy. I would suggest you melee him the entire time and not let any distance get between you and him, lest he poof. He dropped the net. I still need one more. Good luck fellow paladins.
Heh.

See the post above you. :)

Again, nets are no drop. A druid is essential for tracking them down, and the levitation and SoW will also come in very useful. A 29 Paladin and a 31 druid took these out with ease. Both of the ones we killed dropped nets.

How to find the Netmaster
# Jul 27 2000 at 10:14 AM Rating: Good
Go to the island with the single pedestal on it, where the 2 avaiak guards spawn. I believe the /loc is roughly 800, 740. If you walk into the water facing south, you can situate yourself so that your line of sight is exactly dead even with the level of the water. If you do so, you'll find that you can see below the water just as well as above, and still target creatures.

The netmaster is exactly a 2 hour spawn. I just camped him 3 times. If you're in the spot I mentioned, you will see him swim by, if you can get your self positioned correctly to see underwater right. If you have a druid, he will show up on track. I seriously recommend you try to fight him on land. The one time I fought him underwater, he despawned almost instantly.

I'm a level 33 paladin with nice eq, and he almost took me out. I had to use lay hands and still killed him with 300 (about a bubble) of hitpoints left. I seem to remember his harmtouch doing roughly a bubble and a half of damage to me. Once he had blown harmtouch and his DOT wore off, I ******* him, but I was kind of worried up until that point.

Just bash and stun him to disrupt spells as much as possible, and he will seem a lot easier than he really is (though he can still hit for up to 70 or so).

As far as I can tell he now always drops the net. I killed him twice, once with help from a druid, and he dropped it both times.

Good luck =)

Well, i spent many days trying to find this bugger, and to kill him. First three times i found him, he despawned. But I got a tip from a friend to fight him at the bottom of the ocean. And I did, and he did not despawn, so for all you pally's out there, fight them at the bottom of the ocean. I believe they drop the nets all the time, and I could solo them at 45 even though I had 2-3 bubbles left in HP when fight was over.

Well if your on a body retrieval mission and your swimming naked, your in trouble. I made the mistake of swimming uderwater for just a second, saw a form swim under me and then wham. I was able to get to shore, don't know why since the body was useless but he followed me right onto shore and that was the end. He was red to me at 27.

I was looking for Webclaw for a water crystal staff when I saw this guy on track and wondered if he was a placeholder. So I buffed up, got enduring breath, invigor and levitate in case I had to go underwater for him, and headed from the Arena to 3 spawn... and he attacked me! HT'd right away, I dragged him to the island where he kept attacking me from beneath the world. I finally popped up, I snared and nuked him. Had to heal myself three times. He tried to cast fear several times (worked once) and shot annoying arrows when out of melee range. I eventually killed him and got the net, which now I find is useless to me. It is no drop. Secret with him is to close to melee, he pretty much stops casting then, though he hits hard.
