They added a dot to the chest now (the one showing above). The first time it happened... That was decidedly STUPID! Grats on SOE for the "I'm stupid" award!

Yeah, that caught us by surprise, too.
If you've got the LDoN-era spells, you can detect/disarm certain traps; mechanical ones can only be successfully disarmed by a Rogue/Bard, however.
I hated these damn things back in the days of LDoN, and the feeling has only grown more intense with passing time.
Back then, nothing was worth possibly setting off a trap; we just bypassed all barrels/crates/chests we came across. However, I don't think I'd be able to convince anyone in my Guild to pass over Demiplane loot just because of the possibility of a raid-wipe.
First time this thing went off, we were in rezz/buff mode after having taken down Zi-Thuuli, so I didn't even have a heal memmed. The only thing I had time to do, before doing my best impression of a Ranger's "Gate-to-Bind" ability, was groan in anticipation of what was coming. lol
