Did with 4, 2 mercs in grp to get instance... but cant use em once inside. War, cler, shm, zerk... switched out zerk for monk to split guards.
just tried, didnt work. had 4 toons, 2 mercs.

Been doing this hoe with 6 people for a long time. Shaman, Warrior, necro, Zerker, bard, Sk.
Did her with 8 people (3 boxes) in TSS raid gear.
6 boxed with:
warrior (crystallos group geared, 23k hp, 3.8k AC unbuffed, 3600 AA)
bard (TSS raid geared, 2900 AA)
monk (SoF tier 2 and 3 group gear, sucky group weaponry, 400 AA)
shaman (SoF tier 2 and 3 group gear, 300 AA)
cleric (crystallos group geared, 3500 AA)
cleric (DK / TSS raid geared, 3000 AA)
Took a very long time, pulled shyra to room just outside her chambers and cornered her there (split and killed her protectors first). That room respawned 2 or 3 times but only the 2 at the archway to shyra chamber would aggro. Warrior tanked everything including adds when they spawned. Warrior used shield most of the fight so clerics could just CH chain.
Shyra DPS < Prismatic Wyverns in crystallos, damage is far less spikey.

DId her with 9 people in groupable gear at 80.
Were you able to pull and kill her without guards adding or has this been changed?

You can split Shyra from her guards, we've never killed her any other way.
We did this last night with just under two groups:
80 ranger, 1400+ AA
80 warrior, 1600+ AA (17.1khp, 3.7k AC)
80 shaman, 1kAA
72 shaman, no significant AA (8k mana)
80 cleric, 1kAA (12.7k mana)
78 cleric, 700ish AA (11.5k mana)
80 monk, 1400+ AA
77 mage, 700ish AA
80 necro, 300ish AA
*All numbers are unbuffed.*
We're currently raiding DPoB and PoR targets, so the base gear was largely Anguish.
She was a pretty easy kill, the shamen and clerics were botted. The clerics did a mini-CH chain between them and one of the shamen kept a HoT up on the tank. Cleric mana was never really an issue.

Anyone have a good strat for this? we are a guild with a mix of raid trails/por/qvic/don/tss gear. I figure we should be able to handle this with the right strat. Could anyone share a strat?

You can take 54 people into this raid. The effect noted upon zoning in is a result of being flagged for one or more of the 5 vampire-curse raids which are required for PoBlood access. The story is that you're turning into a vampire. This protects you from the zone-wide debuff ae in PoBlood, but weakens you in these 5 raids.

says when you zone in you get hit with effect blood of shadowmane, any help as to what this effect is?

You gain one point in 'Curse of blood' in DoD aa list. When Shyra dies, everyone gets dotted with 'curse of the shadowmane' snare dot

Dropped 2 Glowing Shadowspine runes today for us.
We are Qvic flagged and have been farming this event for quite a while now.
Usually we will have roughly 40 chars in raid, tho' about 40% of them are being boxed.
So is it Anguish level? Think again.
It's not hard as long as you have a good strategy like Cascet said.

Thats incorrect seeing as how you don't need blood access to kill the mob. This mob is part of the progression to Demi-plane of blood, but is more often killed for its loot.

Qvic-level guilds could probably do this with the right strat. Split the adds and you are set. Thats all I can help you with :)
