Remove any damage shield buffs you may have before engaging.

Vishimtar hits for ~4000; AE rampages (mitigated to ~1000); enrages; and casts Shadow, Aura, and Withering Corruption throughout the event.

Four incorporeal shadows spawn at around 75% health. If an incorporeal shadow (low hits; low hitpoints) is killed, a lifedrain shadow (hits for 2000; flurries) spawns in its place.

After a random amount of time passes after being engaged (~3-6 minutes), tainted eggs begin spawning at somewhat random intervals (~75-120 seconds). Only blunt weapons have an effect on eggs. If they are not killed in good time, several corrupted drakelings (hit for ~1200; flurry) will spawn.

Four corrupted drakes get into the action at 50%. They are snareable and should be kited, as they respawn immediately upon being killed.

Beginning at 25% health, Vishimtar begins casting Creeping Doom at 45 second intervals. Four random players will be hit at a time. This spell must be cured within ~48 seconds of it hitting otherwise the affected player will be deathtouched. To cure, say "shoulder my burden" to one of the mournful spirits roaming the perimeter of the cavern.

For each player cured of the DT, Vishimtar can be damaged another 1%.

If anyone dies, or goes linkdead, at any time in the event, a spirit wraith (mezzable; hits for ~1500) will spawn in their place (this does not include pet deaths).

Killing a cloud of concentrated chaos will fill up everyone's health and mana.

Following Vishimtar's death, his AE effects will wear off and all adds will despawn. A chest with additional loot spawns.

Vishimtar roars furiously, 'Who would dare encroach upon our home and disturb the nest? I must protect the eggs.'

Solo'd this guy as a free to play level 100 SK. Use 5 offline toons to get the instance and zone in. Burned him down to 25% in a few seconds with HT and Visage. HP locks. Pulled him near where the mournful spirits path and start dumping the Creeping Doom. Make a hotkey for that.

It got close a few times but if you just keep turning him so you can riposte the adds and other crap that spawns your self-heals and 2.0 click will keep you up easily. Lifetap as needed.

This was a challenge for a group of 87-90 toons. Probably doable but I couldn't organize it with boxed chars. With high 95+ decap berserkers all the mechanics were bypassed and he died in less than 30 seconds. It was easy to find people to help because it is quick, fun and still has useful drops. I would encourage anyone who hasn't done this progression to check it out. I enjoyed its lore and utility and made some friends along the way.

Took in 2 characters. 95zerker, 95shaman. Duo'd him. Used Single Target HoT on Both toons, used Counterbias for the Zerker to keep healed, and did the big group HoT for 6k that lasts for 12 seconds to heal both as needed. Shoulder my burden isn't a huger deal, run around and find em as u can. Zerker just demolished the adds np. Killed Vish with ease. Took about 45 mins in total. Not too bad these days
How to do Vish nowadays
# Sep 21 2012 at 11:03 AM Rating: Decent
Take in four characters. No more than four, anyone else looting waits at the portal. By not taking over four, the "shoulder my burden" mechanic goes from necessary to optional. If you can't find one in time, Creeping Doom will just refresh on you before it fires the next time Vish casts it. I let the drakelings spawn from the eggs, they're basically one hit kills for any melee, you'll spend less time killing them after they spawn than trying to break the eggs with blunt objects. The event is ridiculously easy at this point if you keep this up, we beat it last night with a monk tanking Vish, a rogue on DPS and a ranger kiting adds, doing all the hails and healing.

After today's kill, the chest dropped: Belt of the Black Dragon, Dragonkiller, and Dark Heart of Vishimtar.

Vishimtar himself dropped his usual: Eye of Vishimtar and six Shadowscale of Vishimtar.
Withering Corruption
# Apr 02 2007 at 5:43 AM Rating: Good
Guys, can anyone give any help on curing Vish's debuff on the tanks?

When a tank gets Withering Corruption, we try to cure it with the Shaman spell Pure Spirit before it turns into Vishimtar's Corruption. It seems though we have not had any luck with this, even with 2 or 3 Shaman casting at the same time on the MT. I've tried RC and Purify on the MT as well. Is there anything else we can try?

Note: If you are killed by the mobs that require kite/mez. Once you die, your body will spawn one of them. By this I mean they 2 of them kill 2 players. 2 rise from where they died, making 4 mobs. 2 of them kill 4 players, now you kite/mez 6. They kill 10, you kite/mez 12. Etc Etc until entire raid is dead.

Spawns four incorporeal shadows as it drops from 77% to 75% health.
You can't kill these, they auto respawn and become tougher and tougher each time. Only can kite via ranger/bard. Or mez with enchanters.

Starts spawning tainted eggs upon reaching ~70-75%.
Only can be killed with blunt weapons. If you do not kill, they
break open and 4-5 mobs come out which must be kited or mez'ed.
You kill, they respawn stronger.

Corrupted drakes get into the action at 50%.
Same deal. Kite/Mez.

Begins casts of Creeping Doom at 25%.

This is an instant kill spell if you let it countdown.

There is npc called Mounrful Spirits or something like that.

They look like white clouds. Have youe entire raid Hotkey saying

"Shoulder my burden."

When Vish starts doing the DT spell he can no longer be Dps.

You have to wait for a player to get the spell on him.

Run and say shoulder my burden. Once the spell is removed, Vish can now go down exactly 1%. You must do this from 25% to 0% (Death).

Remember, if you ignore it and you die. The Dark Blues spawn upon ur death and pwn the raid unless kited/mez'ed.

Another fight similar to this is Warden Hanvar in CoA.

Key Points:

All the Mobs Besides Vish and Eggs (Anything Dark Blue, such as the mobs spawned from death, spawned from eggs, the drakes) have EXTREMELY low Hp. So you must make sure EVERYONE in raid has NO damage shield what so ever. REMEMBER there is a Druid Heal AA that has a Damage Shield Built into it. Tells Rangrs not to Buff the raid with the Damage shield buffs. (Guard of The Earth, Etc). No Clickies with Ds.

The Dark Blue mobs hit you about 5 times and die to ds. Now you fight 2. They both die, you fight 4. Dark blue Mobs do round 250-750 Dps on my mage. They die they get stronger.

Also, there is a white cloud NPC, i forgot name. Its before the Shoulder My Burden guys spawn. You Pwn it, it gives entire raid like 10,000 Hp and 10,000 mana. Make sure you use it at a good time.

Positioning: This enables Vish to be killed. This fight is ALL about positioning. Vish has THE farthest melee range in Everquest.
You can literally snipe him with melee. I was backstabbing with my Rogue from a wizard's casting range. This kinda helps with Rampage if you can get it down right.
Also his ramp is one of the weakest in Eq. The way we killed him was we hoisted his *** waaaaay up on the rock behind him. There is a mountain he pathes infront of. Have the warrior sock him to get aggro. Make him face left. (When you zone into the zone, it will be the left your character is facing.) Be sure to fight him at the very top of the Mountain thing. So his head will be almost touching the roof of the zone. If done right, you don't have to worry about push, and his rampages getting hits on casters.

Hope this explanation helps. I only done him 3 times. But this is how we did it. And we killed him all 3 times with 0-3 deaths.

RE: Any fight details?

Just a couple of things to add to what Santhen said...
-Once they start spawning eggs spawn throughout the raid and must be killed quickly -if they hatch you wipe.
-The key phrase for Creeping Doom is "shoulder MY burden". Also if you are a cleric you can hit DA right when your icon is flashing and avoid death. This saves a mournful spirit for someone else as they do despawn after one use and you have to wait for another one. (several usually up at one time)Bestow DA can also be used to save MT and avoid him running around as the spirits spawn and roam along the edge of the platform.
-Each death or LD in this raid causes a skele mob to spawn with decent dps, left unchecked this can easily add up and wipe you.
-The 4 weak dervs that spawn melee for only 20-50 a hit, the biggest annoyance is their huge knockback/stun. Make sure to DMF the raid so you don't get people knocked off the platform. Also these guys are not mezzable and only have about 100 hps so you need to make sure the raid is without DS and pets. Once you kill one it respawns as a nasty derv that can kill in one round, but is mezzable so organize the kill and have an enc ready. I believe some of these nastier dervs also have a chance of spawning from the 75% mark but keep em mezzed and they despawn in a later phase.
-The DoT Vish's Shadow is cast throughout the fight every minute or two and hits for over a k in hp and some trivial amount of mana. Hiding behind the large rock on the platform does not protect you. I believe it can be cured with RC3+ otherwise it lasts about 30 seconds.
-Resists are useless in this fight so save the slot for other buffs.

Good luck!!

Engage him :P

Eggs spawn like 80%? Not a melee so can't say for certain. Get the raid to beat **** out of them with blunts.

75% 4 dervs spawn with low hps and low dps, but if killed respawn alot meaner.

50%,4 corrupt drakeling spawn OT/Kite them

25%, Creeping Doom is cast on random folk(46 second DT). Have them hail a Mournful Spirit and say "Shoulder your burden".
Each time a person is cured by talking to a Mournful spirit you can take Vish down 1 more percent.

kill Blue con dervs and it gives raid 10k hp/mana which if timed correctly makes this not close to as bad as you think.

Well there ya go, now hope you kill him 5 minutes after you read this.

Improved Loot?
# May 27 2005 at 8:19 PM Rating: Default
So Now That this guy has been upgraded does he drop better loot like stuff with 400+hp on in because that would be badass i mean the harder the mob the better the loot right well not in OMM's case for as hard as that mob is the loot sucks it is not what i consider endgame loot i mean most of the stats are equal to GOD loot so hopefully with his upgrade the loot will get upgraded also

Harder The OMM?
# May 25 2005 at 7:01 AM Rating: Decent
So Is this fight made out to be harder the Overlord Mata Muram now because he is still the badass of Everquest so i dont know if he is harder then OMM i mean i have never killed OMM or Vishimtar so i dont know what each one of um can do but given the effects they use i think OMM looks tougher
Harder The OMM?
# Jul 12 2006 at 6:17 AM Rating: Decent
you're a friggin moron. if you haven't done either fights then stfu.

He's not harder than OMM - at least not if you've already beaten OMM and him in version 1.0 and got used to scripts like this. In this case you will learn how to do this encounter in a few evenings as opposed to a few months it took to get OMM script right.

And in reply to your other post... his loot *is* better than OMM loot from my perspective - more HP/AC/Stats, better foci. When seen in relation to OMM, this mob's loot table is reasonable as it is imo. Now Arch Magus Vangl's loot table on the other hand is way overpowered for his difficulty, but that's another story :p

The sleeper can be brought down with great numbers (a.k.a. zerg). Vishimtar is limited to 54 people and can't be killed by just applying as much dps as possible or changing the worn out tank every 15 seconds.
The way this script works or rather doesn't work right now doesn't allow him to be killed - you cannot fulfill the prerequisites to get him down atm unless your guild did him in a different way then mine..

PS: Quote from the dev's post I linked below :
Quote:
While the bottleneck that was causing guaranteed failures has been eliminated, the fight is also much more difficult.

Killed on many servers by now. First time a guild killed Vish 2.0 was the same day he was pushed to most live servers (except ABayle) already - the new mechanism is not too harsh and you got to reschedule CC a bit, but if you can handle Mata'Muram you'll be able to learn this encounter pretty quickly.

YarLir also drop Eye and you can buy a 2-slot container in good camp for 500 crystals (i expect one in evil camp too).

Put both Eyes in and combine to create some mask thingy... then what?
