Well, I camped these things for hours, but I only found 2 near the tower, and 1 north of it; my friend tracked one south of the tower. All 4 turned up no skins! I was auctioning to buy one all along, and one lvl 5 orge sham had one. I bought it from him for 5pp (the change on me), and some armor and weapons I got from killing the frogloks and dog things in my spare time. What a deal! Saved me so much time, and that stuff was trival.

Well, on my second trip to the swamp I did what the Ogre said and looked for the gators on the island south of the tower. To my surprise, three of them ganged up on me! Luckily I lived, and one had the skin. Now I need the dirk, which I understand is considerably easier (if you have money)!!

Ok I spent all night hunting these things even with a 53rd druid with track to help. When I first got to the swamp I found Bull gators near the stone hand with the merchant selling shaman spells. I killed about 10 in an hour without any skins then they just stopped spawning. after about 3 hours of waiting and only finding the swamp alligators about every 30 minutes I decided to just start killing everything I saw excluding a few NPC's. and after two hours of Mayhem still not a single Bull alligator spawned. Did find out how far friends track went though from the shadowmen Stone hand he could track me to the northern zone line which pretty much covered the whole zone. So needless to say am wondering about spawn times or complete randomness of this spawn.

I seem to have noticed a pattern in Innothule. Swamp Alligators seem to spawn in pairs by the tower. kill enough of them and a Bull will spawn. Kill the Bull and there's a chance that the fattie will spawn. Camped the swamp for 2 days and only saw 1 Fat Alligator, although he didn't drop the severed arm for the Crude Stein quest, just some patchwork boots. Does anyone else have any info? Am I doing something wrong, or am I perhaps not high enough to get the arm? Thank for any info!

Keep trying, there's hope. I've been camping the Bull alligators for nearly two weeks now every day. Must've killed 30 of them and got no skin. During that time I've killed a couple Fatties and received the patchwork boots and one severed arm, so it is dropping still.
Now, I'm a lvl 30 halfling druid and was wondering if I was too high to get the skin drop so I petitioned a GM. According to the GM the drop should not be affected by the player level, so I would assume that would apply to the Fat Alligators too.

I've run around this swamp for three days now using track and haven't seen a Bull Alligator *spawn* let alone drop anything. Has anyone else seen any lately?

I must have killed 20 Bull Alligators to no avail. The first Fat alligator I killed produced a skin for the Raiders quest. Coincidence? ***** it... KILL EM ALL! I did notice that more Bulls seemed to spawn once I rid the area of giant water moccasins. I wouldnt go there unless you are at least level 12 though unless you bring a healer friend. Luckily I had a fungi tunic because at level 10 I was aggroed 27 times in a row without any break in fighting.

For druids lvl24+, the best way to get this skin without camping is to TP to SDoR , going to IS (5 minutes), track Alligator Bulls: if there are not here, leave the place and come back another day by TP, but don't camp (spawn up to 10 hours!). Bull alligators are rarely camped so when you arrive, there are often 3 or 4 bull alligator. Kill them all. If there is any skin, don't stauy here! In addition, I have doubts about placeholders (such as Giant mocasin): it didn't work for me.

Im trying to find where the hell these gators spawn. Being a halfling, far from home, I have no clue about these watery surroundings, but need gator skin. i know your pain all too well, werc. most of the great skinless gators of innothule live in the northeast corner of the zone, near the undead tower. keep your hopes up, you'll be there a while (but the reward is worth it). good huntin' to you and stay clear of the troll slayer, no matter what he cons!

What's all this about killing hundreds of bull and fat gators and getting or not getting a skin? How about not even seeing one for hours on end? When my 21 level Druid got to Innothule he tracked and killed a bull and got a tooth. After that, nada, nothing, zippo...for 5 hours! Did improve my swimming, tracking and foraging skills though and I will go back because I require that skullcap. Oh and yes, I did go after the placeholders too. Has to make you wonder about these posts that blythely talk about bashing one of these things every five seconds or so.

after weeks of campin' in this stinkin' swamp, i finally got my gator skin...from a giant water moccasin! beleive it or not, don't ask me to explain. i heard that the mocs were placeholders for gators so i started killin' them. third one i killed dropped a snake egg, a rattle, and what i thought was a snake skin. ran off to freeport to restock supplies and sell my treasures and realized what i had just as i was about to sell it! so when lookin' for gator skins, kill the giant moccasins, too!
got my cap now, and i'm overjoyed that i never have to see this stinkin' swamp again (though i may return to settle the score with one vile and odorous troll slayer)!

I'm not sure if I should tell this... But anyhow my level 9 shaman killed a single bull alligator and yes... it had a skin. So, I came to the conclusion that maybe it depends on the level of the killer. Like the orcs in Oasis who don't drop loot until you're level 12 or so. So a tip to all you desperate high level hunters: Kill yourselves over and over again until you're back at level 9 or 10... Then go kick some bull *** ! (Yeah, I'm not funny, I know)

Generally I have found them on the edge around the So Ro zone and the tower with the undead in it

Yes, by the north of the zone or by the tower you will find bull gators and fat gators... but I have yet to see a skin. My 31st lv druid halfling would love one. I have camped them for entire nights and never got one. So maybe it is level dependant. But that is ok! I just made me a ranger...hehe, and boy he has a few tweaks... cya in the swamp!
