crimson tempest killed him sometime like within a week or so ago forgot the date www.crimsontempest.info is there site with the kill shot and everything gratz CT
Well im not 100% sure on the encounter since i've never been there but i have done a nice amount of research on him but here's what i've gathered.
Once Warden Hanvar has died, you continue up. You go into the circular room that Archmagus Vangl wanders through in a circle. There is a circular wall in the middle with a red glowing shield inside of it.
A voice echoes from behind the shield, 'Vangl, you are my mightiest guardian, yet you allow these insects to remain in my presence? Destroy them now or I will rend the flesh from your worthless frame! Arch Magus then dies and the emote given is: The voice echoes from behind the shield, 'Vangl, do not think that you can escape me in death. After I destroy the infiltrators I will find where you are to spend eternity. Death does not end your obligation to me, wretched thrall! As the Arch Magus' corpse falls to the ground, you feel the magical aura filling the room collapse, and hear a deep guttural laugh growing louder.
The walls with the shield lift into the ceiling (yes...very cool effect for EQ to have in a expedition even tho it is cheesy to an extent lol) Mata Muram is standing in the middle with his wings covering him. A red gas type thing is pouring down on him. He has 2 guards "Coerced Liutenant" which enchanters can charm and use against him (very useful nice DPS). You speak with him for a bit and he talks to you blah blah then finally you engage him.
During the fight several "Frenzied Lashers" (very fast Ukuns) spawn and wreck the raid. MT is fighting OMM.
During the fight you get an emote "You hear a buzzing in the distance" "Mata Muram fixes his gaze upon one of your companions" At that time you have a few seconds to cast a spell upon him.
The emote also "Mata Muram grows week as he is afflicted with his own magic" "Mata Muram roars in anger,'You dare use my own magic against me!' "Mata Muram shakes off the effects of his affliction"
Etc etc until hes dead...Anybody who has actually done the encounter and won who would like to correct any information i may have screwed up please feel free
****There are 3 Movies with him in it. Check out Assentguild.com Then go to Movies and DL em. Township Rebellion made another one too its on their homepage at the moment townrebels.org. Check em out there really good!******
It turns out that the Mirrored masks are actually part of an act of misdirection. A limited number (12) are needed for the OMM encounter, but anyone NOT possessing the mask won't be Gazed, so the rest of the raid force don't have to worry about missing a click.
To my knowledge, there are only a few people on the dev team who even knew about the secret and none of them have given the information out. Keep in mind that Anguish is set up to obfuscate the tactic. It's why the masks drop so often and have stats and augment slots. It encourages everyone to pick one up and hold onto it. Doesn't make a lot of sense to leak the secret after all that work...particularly nearly a year after Omens came out and many months after OMM has become a farm target for guilds.
Rashere
EDIT: confirmed that having the Mask either on you or in the bank is enough to make you a target for the Gaze, NOT just wearing it.
Our raid leader had a mask in his bag. We wiped as the first emote happened to be on the raid leader who scrambled to try and find the mask to equip and click it. You can still get an emote with the mask in your bags.
About ~3000 dmg on average, but his maximum hit can go up to 7000 dmg when you make mistakes (actual hits on tank are lower, I've extrapolated a bit by removing shielding modifier from the average hits - ymmv)
The following emote was heard in muramite proving grounds when OMM was downed by Assent.
"The walls of Anguish tremble, you can feel the world shaking your bones. For a brief moment you think you see a smile flash across Mata Muram's face, and as the last breath escapes his lungs you hear a faint voice, "There are worlds other than these..."
Everyone in MPG at the time of Mata Muram's death got this emote, I am unsure whether any other zones got it as well.
Both Darkwind and Raging Fury killed Overlord Mata'Muram within a few hours on Sunday so you happened to get 2 messages on the same day :p
He's just on a 5 day lockout timer, so it's not broken. I've thought from the start that the shaking and emoting will be boring quick when he's killed every 2.5 days on average :p
btw.... when you're in Anguish as he's killed you'll see the same emote as everywhere else in OoW
PS: Emotes you get from OMM during the fight with Arch Magus Vangl : A voice echoes from behind the shield, 'Vangl, you are my mightiest guardian, yet you allow these insects to remain in my presence? Destroy them now or I will rend the flesh from your worthless frame![..] The deafening voice shakes the room again, 'You expect to defeat me? I have lived longer than you can begin to comprehend. I walked the realms before your pitiful gods were spawned. I flew the skies in a time before your world's creation and I shall enslave new worlds long after you and your gods are forgotten. You fight only to die. I. . . AM. . . ETERNAL!'[..] The voice echoes from behind the shield, 'Vangl, do not think that you can escape me in death. After I destroy the infiltrators I will find where you are to spend eternity. Death does not end your obligation to me, wretched thrall!'[..] As the Arch Magus' corpse falls to the ground, you feel the magical aura filling the room collapse, and hear a deep guttural laugh growing louder.
Emotes you get during the fight with OMM himself : Roaring laughter fills the room, 'Is this what you've come here to show me? You hope to defeat an ancient with this miserable display of force?[...] Tendrils of energy shoot from the fingertips of the Riftseekers, turning Mata Muram's magic inward.[...] Mata Muram breaks free of his bonds, killing the Riftseekers with the magic. 'You dare betray me! When I am done with them I shall see that all of your kind meet the same fate.'[...] The walls of Anguish tremble, you can feel the world shaking your bones. For a brief moment you think you see a smile flash across Mata Muram's face, and as the last breath escapes his lungs you hear a faint voice, "There are worlds other than these..."
edit: edited since I realized his death emote is the same outside and inside Anguish =( Added some emotes you get from him during fights
I Do Believe Darkwind is the 4th Guild to kill him serverwide First Was Cestus Dei The Assent The Township Reb The Darkwind No one else has beaten this mob that im aware of i could be wrong tho but from my knowledge only CD Assent TR and DW have killed this mob
Ah Ok i Did Not know Raging Fury Tok him out First Yea What is up with the Other Servers i Figured CIH Paradise Of The Nameless Or Talisman Would Have taken Him out by now but who knows maybe they havent been working on it last i heard Talisman got him down to 16% so they might be the next guild to get him down on the other hand on my Server Noone is even Close to Touching Him Yet Only Guild in Anguish on Seventh Hammer is Forged Souls and they having Trouble of Warden Hanvarso right now i think its between CIH POTN and Talisman to see who will get him done next
That table is not up to date at all I think. CoE on Veeshlin (veeshan/luclin) has been in Anguish since far before the merge, and is currently working on Jelvan (pretty much have it down now). Nice quick look though, similar to "bigkillerlist" if was updated.
HP and mana aside, the gear that drops from this mob is not what I envision as end game gear. There is plenty of Time gear that still has significantly better stats and resists.
In the span of ONE expansion, Luclin to PoP, you go from end game gear in VT that has 100 HPs that ramps up 120% to 220 HPs from Quarm drops. 4 and 5 expansions later, we're looking at end game gear that barely has 50% more HPs than PoP gear and worse or equal stats and resists.
Time gear does not have equal or better stats or resists, or dmg/dely ratios, or beneficial effects, or AC, or anything else. The loots might be a bit light in comparison to mob difficulty (compared to what u get from DoN mobs, who are reportedly easier fights than Mata), but are not crap upgrades compared to Time.
#REDACTED,
Posted:Apr 27 2005 at 10:37 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) is this dude stronger than the sleeper if not what is the point of putting him in the game?, as the strongest mob of the new expansion anyways
Kerafyrm was not even intended to be killed, he can't really be compared to any other boss mob. As far as I know, NToV and Vulak was the end game content of Velious (correct me if I'm wrong I didn't raid at that point -- no flames plz!!), Sleeper's Tomb was good for loots and upgrades, but the Sleeper himself was there as lore, not as a valid target to kill. Sure, he was taken out, and is disputably the hardest mob ever beaten....but the Mata Muram fight is not exactly a drop in the bucket. The Sleeper was programmed with massive regen, hp, etc. to make him incapable of being killed (which RZ server later proved the numbers on his stats weren't made big enough).
In essence, Sleeper was a lore mob killed by a bunch of very courageous adventurers, doing a kill not even made to be done, and Mata is supposed to be a doable (but very challenging) fight.
Anyone noticed anything special or changed on that server now? Seems odd if someone got an emote outside of the raid zone that he was dead and from the sound of the fight doesn't seem like anything anyone would want to do more then once.
Just heard over the serverwide channel that someone has finally killed Muram. I only got the link to 3 items: http://personalpages.tds.net/~wilykat/matamuram_loots.jpg (actual screenshot)
Hammer of Rancorous Thoughts Ring of Persecution Jayruk's Vest (title was cut off sorry)
The first 2 items are nice but not good considering the difficulity of this mob. And the vest I would think it's for a quest as this vest is not listed on Allakhazam.
To restate, I was not involved in the actual raid that bought Muram down. I do not know who or which guild or which server did that, nly providing the info on the loots.
I would also like to say that Cestus Dei has done an incredible job. They have showed that even with multiple bugs and problems and difficulties with the game they have never once complained about the event, but accepted the challenges and pursued them persistently. I must say the leadership that the guild has shown, proves why their guild is still intact after the release of new MMORPGs and their passion for accepting challenges, even if the challenge are impossible like Tunat at level 65, and striving to accept what was given to them and become successful in all the expansion. As a former 3 year player, i must say your guild has done an incredible job and I hope you stay for later expansions as I will always be watching all of your future adventures.
i agree with what ssefka is saying. Although experience with fighting OMM multiple times and learning from fighting him multiple amounts of time is extremely important, however there should also be a great deal of focus on replacing GoD/Time pieces that a lot of people still have with mobs that are killable and grinding out AAs for the people who don't have 1000+ AAs yet IMHO.
