Buggy event

Buggy event, had to submit a ticket and waiting for respawn currently. The kill was easy with a 90 necro present, Grinbik dropped aggro and walked a circle around the areas, stopping here and there then stayed in place for a good while until he started regenning health rapidly (instead of like...combat health regen speed) and walked back to his spawn point. Would not take the hail at all, would just reply "Grinbik the Fertile remains as silent as stone." While waiting, I went and killed the next event mob and then came back.

70 SHD (can be replaced with random tank class)
70 RNG
70 SHM (recommend to use a cleric here instead)
(no mercs of course)

SHD pulled full house to Dranik Scar zoneline.

At some point while pulling, all but Marshal Histent were too far away from the SHD and returned to their building while Marshal Histent himself followed to the zoneline.

SHD zoned to DS and rezoned to BF watching Marshal Histent walking back slowly his friends. Tag him whenever you think its save and pull him to a random save spot where your group is waiting.

Grinbik himself was easily split, however at 10 % gated to his house and morphed nonagro. Have the RNG move invis to the house, remove invis, hail and train the adds to DS or RCOD.

Also couldn't get the single pull trick to work. I did this as an 86SK and 85 ranger - SK tanked the whole encounter at once while the ranger hit Sureshot on the Marshall, went down quickly (500khp doesn't go as far as it used to). Grinbik almost died before the Marshall due to riposte damage and also the SK's pet got on him at some point. If you can position him out of the fray that would be smart, otherwise don't make this encounter more difficult than it has to be. Pull to the rock to the north (the old single pull spot) to avoid adds during the fight. Grinkbik got down to about 3% when the Marshall died, repsawned, and walked back to the building before responding to hails.

Targeted the Marshal, stood on the rock noted below, and single fired an arrow towards him. It said I was too far away, but I have a Blackburrow Hunting Bow with a 200 range, and 125 Range arrows, so it should have made it, but then I moved a bit closer, off the rock, Still too far, so I moved closer again. I had to move quite far away from the rock before the message changed, and it now said "You can't hit them from here." I could have been standing right next to the building and I would have received the same message. So it seems that arrows cannot go through the stone walls of the building any longer.

I tried to fire an arrow at him from the other side of the building, where you can actually see the Marshal through the doorway. I was able to shoot him, but it always pulled the entire group.

Am I missing something, or is this trick now broken?

Thanks in advance for any help...

There are three "houses" that usually have 2-3 "a noc darklurch" inside.
On the map you will see they appear together.
> northeast, diagonal
> east - vertical
> south - horizontal -- NPCs come from in here

This house has doors facing east and south, NPCs are bunched up inside the south facing door.
Here is where I saw Marshal & Co.
P -762.7048, -405.9717, -924.4580, 0, 0, 240, 3, Marshal_Histent_event

I had to try twice since Grinbik is low on HPs and liked eating the DS of my haste song.Smiley: dubious

More specifics on Histent location?
# Apr 22 2011 at 8:44 AM Rating: Decent
Hi,
I was out on a recon last night to pinpoint the zone in, rock, 3 buildings etc where this event takes place. I'm still confusted as to where it is. Mobs don't seem to be marked on mapfiend maps; Xerotrees (old) map link below is dead, etc. I'm not even sure if we are talking Bloodfields or RCoD here for a location. Can someone help?
>There is a large stone a short ways to the north of the buildings in which the Marshal and friends spawn, etc.
Thanks,

Hi folks,
Nevermind on this request. I found Grumilla's 'Single Pull technique' and an annotated map of Bloodfields with
the event location well-marked on photobucket:

single pulling

ok I've read several posts talk about pulling from this rock. 2 questions, the building is beyond my bow/arrow range which is 400, and u cant see target so does supposed super duper ranged bow shot go thru walls too? I dont get it.
help for martial histent
# Nov 11 2007 at 5:01 AM Rating: Default
this is how we have beat him - have monk or who ever pull all the trash from the entire area, have ranger stay at zone in so he doesn't spawn event we use a camp over there east of girplan slasher by some ruins. kill all the trash including slasher in that area. after all trash is pulled i will have a druid to kite the adds. one of the mobs in the group has a 1200 point nuke and if u have a kiting class that cant heal it can go bad. when the ranger comes to raid and spawns the event druid targets on a student and casts his aoe snare. these guys run a little fast so make sure your on the move and continuously spam aoe snare. your tank should have no problem at this time singling martial histent from the pack. take martial histent to the raid force and kill him. after he is down make sure that your raid force stays focused, i have had ppl break down and congratulate the ranger on completion and then had a wipe or fail on the next parts. after Histent is down bring the eager students to the raid force and kill them. Grinik is the most important and in my opinion the most difficult part of this fight, if ppl are not concentrating this part can easily be failed. what we have done to ensure success in the past, is once all the adds are down bring grinbok to the raid and the ranger who's hit it is dps the golem alone and others make sure that he stays alive. in 2 successful tries dated 11/9 and 11/10 for two rangers, the golem did his text thing to give the ranger his epic 1.5 drop at 7% life. u can snare him as well so jsut slow him snare him, ranger dps down to 7% and u should see a text there in say at this time the ranger simply hails the golem and will receive his item, the golem will de-spawn and a 1.5 chest will appear in his place
hope this info can help anyone stuck with this hit

Singlable on Rez/Retry
# Sep 05 2007 at 3:28 PM Rating: Decent
Tried single group him without knowning he can be single pulled. Wiped the first time. We rezzed up and retry before timer expires, and we were prepared for a train the second time too when he came single. Was a surprise to me because I didn't know that was possible at all. Now that I read the posts here, I must've accidentally did what was outlined below. But yes, you can still single pull him even if you wiped and retry before timer expires.

Spawned him today to see things for myself. Between 12-14 trash mobs in the area. At least one in the building the Marshal spawns in. Tried the single pull method, but either screwed it up or it doesn't work anymore.

With Magic resist at 391 I managed to resist the Spirit Rend DD once out of seven times. The other six times I was hit for 1485. Mobs move slower than SoE speed, so it was an easy camo run back to RCoD for me.

I did not get a message from the seed when the Marshal and crew spawned, but I did get it when I gained aggro.
Level should be 75

1 grouped this guy last night. Was lvl 75. Grinbik was lvl 73. Used the single pull method. It did work. The hp are unreal. took all we had to kill him. All 6 of us were oom before he died. Chest had the haste range item.
One grouped tonight
# Dec 04 2006 at 11:11 AM Rating: Decent
One grouped the marshall last night, was a long slow fight, make up was, 75war, 73 cleric, 75 druid, 69 shammie, 75 ranger, 72 rogue. All of them in single group gear (dodh, TSS armor with DoN vendor weps mainly, although rogue did have dagger from inner vergalid and I was offhanding blade of the eclipse) used the single pull method outlined here and got him solo with little difficulty, if you are too close when pulling you will get the whole camp but just evac and try again. I could not solo pull the golem this way however, no mater how many times I shot him he just sat there, looking back, am thinking that my first arrow at him may have knocked the sense back into him since marshall was already dead and he regen'd back up to 100, but no way to know for sure since I kept trying to pull him and he de poped right after we finished killing the rest of the mobs from the house. will try again tonight and see whats up. This mob is also stupid resistant, shammie couldn't get slow to stick so just ended up helping patch warrior for the fight.
Easier since TSS
# Nov 11 2006 at 8:21 PM Rating: Decent
My friend and I each four-boxed him, wasn't too hard. Bring backup healers for the AE, it's the most annoying part of the fight. Went through that 500k without slow and tank stayed up. Shaman didn't have balance of the Nihil.

Xerotees info was very helpful, I had to move a little forward from the rock to hit with my arrow, just make sure you're inside that max bow range when the arrow hits, or else your target, either Histent or Grinbik, will not aggro.

Grp makeup was 73 Rng, 71 Dru, 70 Shm, 70 Nec (Me), 75 War 13k, ~2.4k AC unbuffed, 70 Cle ~6k mana pool, 71 Bard, and 75 chanty (Friend).

Yep, think that's it, everything else has been said already, Grinbik was much easier

I was wondering if anyone has tried to single pull this guy. Maybe with a monk or an SK to snare the mob. Can he be split from the others or will they assist him from any distance? Thanks for your imput.

Single pull?
# Jul 29 2006 at 4:43 PM Rating: Good
I've tested this out twice, so I know that it wasn't a fluke the first time i tried it. There is a large stone a short ways to the north of the buildings in which the Marshal and friends spawn. Adds will not be a problem here. Having the Marshal targeted, stand on this stone and fire a single arrow at him. He will come single and will not agro any adds en-route. Have group/raid beat the snot out of him.

Rinse and repeat on Grinbik, tho make sure to have everyone stop attacking as he gets near de-spawning point.

Here is a map of zone with spots marked.

I will post some links to screen shots of the pull after i have some time to mask some of the text ;-)

A couple of additional notes:

Have a rogue or bard pretarget the Marshal for you. SK's or monks will work in a pinch, but if FD fails, well... ouch!

The key to the single pull is for the Ranger to be at MAX range. Adds should not be an issue, however, allow any mobs pathing through the area to move on out and ALWAYS be prepaired to mez/park any accidental adds...

Also, if you wipe and attempt to rez and retry before the timer expires, this method will not work as Marshal Histent now has a ton of agro and will bring all his buddies with him - evac or wipe again, 'doh!

My plan was to have my guildies clear out the area to minimize adds during the fight, so I planned to stay far enough away that I wouldn't make Histent pop (and start the timer). Oops. Even though I approached the area by hugging the west wall, it was close enough to make him spawn. If you want to have others clear first, you may want to stay very far away.

The posted /loc in the walkthrough here on Alla is correct (+300, +750). It isn't terribly close to the RCoD zone, but in that general direction, I suppose.

We did this with 15 characters. Our gear is mostly DoD and Bazaar gear. Most everyone there was level 70. There were 2 chanters and two clerics among us. Because Histent has so many HP, the chanters were very nearly OOM keeping the rest mezzed. The necro had to twitch them. A few people died during the fight, but ultimately we pulled it off. Gribnik respawns non-KOS back in the building where he starts off. He did so at 8% for me.

Just did this, was kinda wierd. Marshal de-spawned because we took to long, then tried to get Grinbik to "wake up" anyways, and we dps'd down to 20%, he gated, healed himself to 80% or so and ranger did their thing and got Grinbik's Blessing. Chest spawned and all, not sure if it was suposed to work that way or not, but it worked for us

When Marshal Histent is triggered, he's spawned with two eager students, one enslaved earthmover and Grinbik the Fertile next to him.

You can split these mobs, but it's very, very slow and tedious and don't forget you got a depop timer.

Marshal Histent :
hits for 330-1600, average ~640 dmg, rampages, enrages, AEs every 25 secs, slowable by SHMs

an eager student :
snareable, rootable, mezzable, hit for 130-920, average ~420 dmg, enrage

an enslaved earthmover :
snareable, rootable, mezzable, hits for 150-920, average ~390 dmg, enrages

Grinbik the Fertile :
snareable, rootable, hits for 490-1200, average ~490 dmg, enrages

Kill Histent, his students and the earthmover and after that damage Grinbik slowly until you see this :

Grinbik the Fertile roots himself in the earth and struggles to retain control of his own mind.
Grinbik the Fertile says 'I wish to speak with the one that freed me.'
You say, 'Hail, Grinbik the Fertile'
Grinbik the Fertile shouts 'Aaaah!' A deep rumbling voice flows along the ground. 'I thank you, Saraban. You have freed me from such torture! Imagine me, Grinbik the Fertile forced to kill and destroy! I was created to nurture and protect! I must go back to my own home and begin once again to be what I was meant to be. I am honored and grateful to you for saving me. I see that you carry with you a powerful seed, nearly a seedling it is with its desire to grow! As my first act upon regaining myself, I must aid you. If you wish that seed to flourish, you must find the land here that remains fertile. It is a rare thing, but I have seen it. Take with you my blessing. This is a portion of my own power and will aid you and that seed. I also know that my cousin Senvial is a slave here somewhere. You will need his aid as well to achieve your goal. Deliver that seedling and our blessings into the fertile ground and it will grow very quickly indeed! Thank you again, Saraban! All present should praise you for your kind heart and warrior soul'

Recieve Grinbik's Blessing.

(fight statistics were taken by YALP from 3 fights, but YMMV)

PS: Killing Histent and his students results in negative faction hits with Children of Dranik and positive with Overlord Mata'Muram.
