This guy seems to have a spawn time of about 35 minutes.

I've equipped my butterfly net, disabled my auto kick during combat, yet my furious kick or banestrike keep killing it before I can capture it. Five kills so far with no capture.

Equip a pair of non-damage items like a lantern and shield or something -- this will prevent all ripostes, leaving just DS and whatever spells you cast.

I believe it is buried in past comments but if you turn around with your back to it and use a low damage ds then you should get it.

We had it spawn about 45 minutes after a successful capture by another Ranger. This was on the regular CZ zone. Good luck Rangers!

Sickly Mosquito still spawns during the revamp period, still low level, but the other mosquitos are higher level. The alligators are amiable to rangers and will not assist the mosquitos. zone has so far been invis-safe. to get to him, go to the temple, at the top take the water down, swim west till you come out of the water tunnel, he spawns in the room you come out of the water in.
Figured some rangers might still wish to get their epics the next couple weeks. but be cautious.

Good luck folks

How to capture this mob

I beat it down to 14% but you could probably stop around 20%

I then turned away so i would not melee it and nuked the adds while doing this.
While doing no damage to the mob after about a minute it suddenly became captured and appeared on my cursor

So what I am thinking is you can beat any of these Ranger epic mobs down then just wait patiently
a few minutes and you will capture it. Make sure you have all damage shields/ procs off.
Don't kick it either.

Hope this info helps

not sure how you folks had an issue with this. just went at it slowly, made sure to root everything to keep agro off the cleric merc, then made sure my damage shield was up. the sickly mosquito room pulls apart pretty easily. first one on the left, the 2 on the right, then the sickly mosquito should be the only one left in the room.

Did this yesterday at 76. I had trouble with the SG fish, and was working my way thru here as SI mobs kept aggroing on me. But the actual mosquito room mobs were easy to deal with, I was able to get them targeted and use harmony of nature on each, pull the regular mobs out and kill, then go and attack the sickly one in place.

For the kill I removed every single buff and used the net the whole time... I wish I'd worked up 2hb beforehand, at 40 skill it took a while but at any rate when the mob got low enough on HP it showed up on my cursor.
No Problem

This was relatively easy at 68 with a Merc healer. Worked my way in, killing any time there was a skeeter. Turned out to be OK AA xp on the way.

Capture vs Failure
# Feb 07 2007 at 7:43 AM Rating: Decent
I attempted the the "skeeter" with a couple of guildies and we cleared to the room with great ease. I clicked all DS buffs off and attacked with butterfly net but I did not get a capture. I ended up just killing it outright. I was in wolf form and I probably had Call of Lightning on as well. I came back and read here that this had happened before to folks so I went back and this time I clicked off wolf form and Call of Lightning. I was rewarded with a capture. My thought is maybe the Call of Lightning proc affected the capture the first time because it does non-meele damage. I obviously don't know this for sure but it would be interesting to see some more feedback on this.

Got it today 26 Dec 06. just get in range of other skeeters and they come to you sticky stayed in spawn point. Killed others first then netted him was easy. Rooms on the way is really easy with slower or just use your 1.0 to slow them. Bring heal pots if solo.
Can't be pulled from its spawn point

I went to the room last night, cleared the right skeeter. Tried to pull the sickly after using harmony on the other 2. Cast Serpent Vines and the sickly just sat there. I switched to melee and pull on of the other skeeters. While I had aggro on the sickly, I got the "you don't have the right tools to catch this" message. I killed one of the skeeters and rooted the other. Went in for the sickly and only hit him with the net. No DS on either. Never got the sickly on my cursor.

My advice is to clear the room first. When you have aggro on the sickly, you can't use any weapon besides the net.

I will try it again when the server comes back up.

Sickly Mosquito issues
# Sep 09 2006 at 2:00 AM Rating: Decent
I am currently working on my Ranger's 1.5, and have gotten the other mobs for the blood samples so far, but this one has given me a troublesome time. The first time that I went in, it was my 67 ranger and a really good 70 cleric. we didn't really have any problems getting there... just took time to do it carefully.

BUT, once we got to the last room, while killing the normal skeeters, I kept getting messages about it beng difficult to capture without using the right tool.

The sickly mosquito was still in its corner, so I wasn't accidentally hitting him.

Has anyone else had a similar occurance, and could offer some useful advice?

I thought about doing all of them with the net, but that didn't seem right, and would have taken a long, long time

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you !!

Max hit was 106 (with all defensive AAs), seemed to miss a lot (and i have poor AC). I guess I got unlucky on him, did it perfectly but failed to capture him.

UPDATE: This guy respawned 45 minutes (give or take 5 minutes) after he failed to be caught in the net. Either the 2 hour post was mistaken, or its random, or else perhaps the respawn time is different if the failure was due to accidentally hitting it with non-net damage rather than just the 20% bad luck failure? I'm just glad I decided to stick it out :)

add this to your map file CazicThule_1.txt

P 63.2715, -979.9866, -77.7972, 0,0,0, 2, a_sickly_mosquito

there should be two spaces before the 0,0,0, and two spaces before the 2, as well as two spaces before "a_sickly"

sickly mosquito
# Mar 01 2006 at 5:31 PM Rating: Decent
ok well here is what i found out about this crap...went there with decent geared ranger and a necro 2box, u zone in and go through the doors with the 2 guards and across the courtyard and up the ladder. there are 2 pools on the platform, go in the one on the right and down to the bottom then acroos the other side and up, u come to a ladder with a door at the top, go through door.Go down passage , it opens up into a seiries of rooms with pools and boards across them, navagate your way through these rooms, beware the rooms are full of ooze mobs and every other room or so has a see invis mossquito in the middle, this is where i had problems, i would sugjest to bring atleast a small group and just kill your way to the sickly mousquito which is near the end of these rooms (north eastish) was seemingly impossible with a 70 ranger and 70 nec both geared decent with around 300 aa had to come back with a group to get all the way to the sickly
Not easy solo
# Nov 22 2005 at 9:37 AM Rating: Decent
This mob is a big pain to get to. I tried soloing there at 70 with about 8200 buffed hit points and got owned everytime. The problem is you can't harmony the oozes, because they are underwater, and the mosquitos have a very large agro range, so there will be times when you get three mobs on you, and that is too much. 2 ok..3 is bad.

I ended up asking a 65 mage and 65 necro to help, because they were camping the boots.

If you can solo this with sub-epic weapons you are pretty good.
Here it is
# Sep 14 2005 at 3:36 PM Rating: Decent
OK hear is the deal....On a sucsess the respawn time in 1hour on a failure the respawn time in 2hours....From feerrott go through double door up the ladder, into the pool on the right...swim down (careful for fish they summon) up out of water...go up 1 of the 2 ladders....through door...now go straight and right then right again the right again the go left(cant go right) and go right again you will be in a oom with 4 mosquitos 1 of which is the sickly...... ....bring a slower and a healer.
