7 PM in Frontier Mountains, click on the poor goblin disguise. Do not invis yet. Get a bit closer to the entrance. With Goblin at 100, switch to goblin. Target a goblin whipcracker and say "Start Contest." You'll know you have the right one when you see an emote similar to "So, a piece of trash that speaks Goblin. So far with me it's been the one on the left. Then invis and repeat and the contest is started.
How do you get this guy to spawn?
# Sep 19 2017 at 6:05 PM Rating: Decent
I've been trying for over a week to get this guy to spawn and he won't. I followed everything to the letter. I'm starting to think this quest is broken.
Does this guy even exist?
# May 04 2014 at 8:24 PM Rating: Decent
I've been trying to get this guy to spawn for a week now with only one success. The only time he did spawn I didn't kill him in time because he kept popping to some other spot in the zone so I failed because I ran out of time. But other than that it's been forage and kill for the pieces to the poor goblin disguise, make it, fail. What's up with this? The first time I did this several years ago everything went off without a hitch, now I can't get the guy to spawn. I think it's rigged because I ain't getting any help. I sent in 2 bug reports but no answer. Why can't I get this done since everyone else has gotten it done?

Get more trackers. Two more at a minimum. I usually don't have any problem with 2 Rng and 1 Dru doing it. The zone is too big to track from one edge to the other, and he translocates all over the place, so you need enough to cover the entire zone. I'm not saying it's not possible to do it solo, but never have been able to do it myself, or know of anyone doing it solo.

Yther Ore.
The tracking problem expanded.

I agree, I would track the hider and it seemed it would port to various parts of the zone after going so far tracking it. I eventually failed because of running out of time, I literally got to know the zone pretty well, but at the cost of having to restart the quest.

Make life easier for yourself and bring TWO trackers with you...that will be plenty to beat these guys down to get your piece.
Giant Fort

I tried to do this by myself level 69 druid. Killed first one I had on track not right one had the right one and got him to 3% before he poofed. It takes a few minutes for the King and his 3 friends to come out and start his speech. Have your party meet you at back of Giant Fort it seems that this is where the real Hider pops for first pop. Good luck.

Bring extra trackers
# Jul 01 2007 at 12:07 PM Rating: Decent
Ok just did this with my 75 druid on July 1st, 07. I sugest when you do this you bring a few friends who can track. Like said in previous posts the mob warps about every 60 sec if not attacked. If you do attack it you have about 45 seconds to kill it. I know there are at least 4 hiders. Only 1 will drop the item. I killed 3 hiders b4 i got my drop and there was one other one on track when I killed the one that gave me my drop. And after you spam "start the contest", it will take a few minutes ( about 7-10) b4 you will see the zone wide messages from the goblins. Don't worry if you don't see them right away. I hope this helps for anyone who does this in the future. Good luck fellow druids.

Dunno what went wrong...
# Jun 26 2007 at 12:54 PM Rating: Decent
I made the disguise, ran out to FM with my 65 war buddy, sent him down to the fort so he could attack the hiders on sight when the contest started. I clicked the disguise, ran up to the ent, and spammed in mastered Goblin, "start the contest" at 7 pm gametime. For some reason, the goblins at the ent began saying, "You no Goblin! Goblin don't speak stupid like that!" (Or something to the effect of that.) I was not invised, as you can see, and I had no one targeted at first, then I began randomly targeting and spamming to experiment while they attacked me.

Does anyone know why this possibly did not work?

Had this happen to me today....
Found the right hider finally and dotted/snared him up. He warped at 4%...with dots on him. I then got faction message. NO BLOODY CLUE where he warped to. Luckily, I had a number of friends running around the zone and one of them eventually stumbled on the corpse
Broken Quest?
# May 12 2006 at 11:32 AM Rating: Decent
I tried to spawn the Hider Contest today. After following the instructions in all details, I positioned myself outside the entrance to Droga, selected a goblin, clicked the disguise, and started spamming "start the contest" in goblin language /say. I continued to spam from 7pm (game time) until after the disguise expired. There was no response whatsoever. I was not Invis, and I tried several different goblins as my targets, but still no response.

I have entered a petition, but based on past experience, I don't expect much to develop because of it.

Btw... I'm a level 70 druid with almost 300 aa's so I am sure there is something wrong with this quest.
Broken Quest?

I am sure by now this poster has gotten this item, but for future readers, the quest will not start if someone has started it in the last 1.5 hours or so. If it doesn't start (takes a few mins even when it DOES start) then start collecting for another disguise, another druid has tried it recently.
Finally completed it.

I was givin a bit of advice to go near the giant fort and start there. I had a ranger friend already on the spot while i waited for the correct time to start up. anyway, once we were all together, myself and the ranger started mashing track as soon as we could. The first hider to pop is the one we went after and less than 5 mins later, i had the bag of diseased maiden's hair. Try it, it works. I will say however, it was my 3rd attempt at the event, so i was petitioning that it may be bugged..but lo-and-behold, i guess it wasn't

strat that worked for me
# Dec 24 2005 at 3:48 PM Rating: Decent
Just completed this after 3 failed attempts. The strat that finally worked for me, I found pop spot in the middle of the rocks due north of Giant fort almost on the north wall (loc +2799, -505, 347) Goblin Hiders kept popping there and I killed everyone that came. You must kill them fast because they will poof nomatter what HP they are at. I had one poof at 4% and he stayed on track but god knows how far away he poofed to. Anyway long story short. the 4th mob was real hider, killed him and my druid got Bag of Diseased Maidens hair. Good Luck all.

I parked my lvl 65 mage, uninvis with her level 63 earth pet out, as close to this /loc as possible, right around (2810,-520) while I ran my lvl 64 druid to Droga entrance to start the event. I had my 83 ranger camped out in a central location in the zone since she has better tracking and more dps to offer than my druid. I had the mage group invite the ranger and the druid both.

I waited until 7pm game time, about a couple minutes or so after. I clicked my disguise and panicked because there was no visible change to my druid's appearance. Don't worry just yet! Look in your buff box and the illusion buff should be there, lasting about 15 minutes or so.

I targeted each of the goblins at the cave entrance and said(in goblin) "start the contest". The one just left of the cave (me facing it) was a goblin raider and he gave me the text that I am right, that the King owes them a contest! And then he threw in a comment that either my breath stank or something died in there. He was in motion at the time, so you know for sure the event is started. He moved from his spot and went into the cave (apparently to zone into Droga). I backed my druid up the hill and waited for about 7 to 8 minutes and I saw the goblins coming out of the cave. I /camp my druid and log in the ranger. The mage kept an eye on the zonewide shouts in goblin.

The ranger logs in and I don't see the Kings on tracking. I move slightly northwest and stopped because I saw some more zonewide shouts from the goblins. It did take about 10 minutes or so for the entire event to get rolling. The goblin seekers (about 40 or 50 of them) popped on tracking before the dialogue was complete. The ranger roamed around invis just north of the giant fort until I saw a goblin hider pop on track. Started tracking and running when I noticed my mage was under attack.

The Goblin Hider had popped pretty much on top of my mage's head! So this /loc worked for me.

Ran to the mage, melee the Hider down and it was the right one. The event stopped immediately, all the seekers were gone and I saw no text or zonewide shouts to indicate anything, just everything was gone off of tracking. I /camp the ranger out, log the druid in and COTH to the corpse. It had a 29 minute timer on it. Looted my hair and left.

Just a couple of notes
# Sep 22 2005 at 11:22 PM Rating: Decent
The "game" last for 30 minutes. The hiders do not roam but warp every 60 seconds to a new location. The locations appear to be random and are spaced a long way apart. It is impossible to track and catch up to a single hider since they warp too far to run to them in 1 minute. I read a couple of strats on this part of the epic and neither of them worked.
Here is how I did it:
I bound myself north of the giant castle. Since I have the AA, I did a secondary bind on the west side of the castle. About a 1 minute run in each direction.
So I started the "game", gated to the spot north of the castle and waited for the hiders to start showing on track. Using my 2 bind spots and the succor spot (east of the giant castle at LIO zone line) I was able to port myself around the zone fast enough to catch up to several Hiders.
I don't see any order in the hiders being the "right" one or the "wrong" one. Just kill them all and hope for a good pop.
They don't have many HP. The wrong hiders maybe 10k. The Right hider was maybe 15k though I wasn't paying too close of attention. I was using my clicky root PoP pants and it held really well with the Viscid Roots aa. My nukes rarely broke the root, I was also dotting.
Watch for adds from the seekers. Only the giants in the zone see invis, but I did get mobbed while killing one Hider and had to succor out to save my butt.

1.5 epic
# Feb 19 2005 at 1:25 AM Rating: Decent
I finished the Goblin event part of the druid 1.5 epic.

The hiders are small. Not like regular goblins at all. You usually have to look down to see them.

Yes you can root and snare them but they resist a lot. A nuke will usually free them from the root so its best to hit them with several dots.

Invis is your friend when chasing around the zone.

They hit hard enough that you want to root them and back up as soon as you can. If you stand around and start to get hit it's very easy to get low HP quickly. Just keep an eye open on the damage, its easy to run away but if you're low and they resist a root, bye bye. Snare is good.

Binding in the zone is recommended. You can clear agro and also get back to a more central location.

I was able to snare the "real" (ie, uttered the right phrase) hider but he teleported at 7%. Happened to me several times. At one point I hit track at two hiders were up at the same time. I ended up failing the event due to running out of time :(:(
