Update on bard adds

I just camped out from hunting these guys and letting my pet play with the green guards (gotta let the pets play too lol). I had these nobles feared and darknessed and the bards never aggroed when the nobles went by 'em heading down the stairs. Same with the wandering Isabella. Never had her add either. Granted I wasn't killing the bards too so I'm still just dubious to them and maybe that made the difference. But now you know. Other than the bards, the chanter spell merchant, and a very scattered small handful of other npcs, I'm KoS to everyone in zone. Even got too close to the banker and she attacked me too right after I banked with her. LOL.

I like to hunt the Nobles. With a nerco, I fear one, and slow them with darkness. The second seems to have a low radius. I do the same with the bards across the hall.

I did bards/nobles duo with a monk friend from early 40's - 50 and solo from 50-52 or so. I absolutely recommend this camp for anyone looking for extremely fast XP. Went from 42-51 here in about 3 days of heavy (6-7 hours/day) camping. Once you get the spawn cycle down, there is very little risk as well, didn't die once. Zone out is only seconds away, and Highkeep is outdoors so you can keep SoW up if you wish. XP really slows down after 52, but good for AA in the early 50's until you hit the planes.

Anyhow, tactics on killing them. For reference in my post, the 'bard room' is the first room on your right after you come up the stairs where Isabella Cellus, Starr Dreamspinner and Storm Dragonchaser. The 'nobles room' is the room down the hall off to the left as soon as you come up the stairs, where the 2 nobles spawn.

KEI helps if you want to keep the entire floor clear, and a JBB is a huge plus, though both are not essential. Keep regen on yourself and canni when necessary. Apply any other buffs as you please.
As a side note: Highkeep is considered an outdoor zone, so it is possible to use a horse. It can get a bit ackward navigating the hallways, but if you can manage it, it's just one extra plus.

If you're KOS to the guards, just invis up to the stairway and begin by killing all the guards on the floor. They aren't at all difficult, but can be an annoyance when 2 or 3 aggro you in the middle of a fight. Just sic your pet on them, or root and throw on an Envenomed Bolt (if you have mana to spare) and move on to something else. They'll die within a few seconds. All guards are on an 18 minute timer.

Once the guards are dead, ascertain the location of Isabella Cellus. She spawns in the bard room, but wanders down the hall through the center room and into the noble room, where she stays for a couple minutes before wandering back along the same path and repeating the process.
If she is still in the bard room, leave her be, otherwise pull her with slow into one of the 2 long hallways, DoT and kill. She hits like a noble (up to 120 or so) but is easy once slowed. Isabella is on a 6 minute timer.

Which DoT's you use depends on your fighting style. If you prefer 'in the face' tanking, use a pet and throw on EB before engaging melee. If you prefer 'root-rotting', EB and Plague, with added shots from JBB (if available) will do just fine. With KEI, Regen and Canni, mana won't be an issue.

Once Isabella is dead, engage the nobles. At 51 I was getting them single most of the time, but you will occasionally pull both. If that happens, root the slowed noble, step back, and concentrate on slowing the other one. Once both are slowed, park them where you please and have at it. After the first is dead, I recommend waiting a minute or so before commencing killing the second one. This way, you'll have a nicely staggered spawn that'll be easy to keep up with. They hit hard for their level (up to 120), and fast but are cake once slowed. HOWEVER, do not turn your back on them, they are rogues. Nobles are on a 6 minute timer.

Same tactic with bards. Like nobles, they hit hard for their level (up to 120), but are cake once slowed. If Isabella is in their room at her spawn point, she will not assist as you pull the bards (just watch her wandering). Bards are on the same spawn timer as the guards - 18 minutes. Use the noble spawns to keep track, 3 noble spawns to every 1 bard.

All in all, loot here is average - fine steel from the guards, occasional gems and armor from the nobles, bards and Isabella - equates to about 100-200pp per hour if you can still sell to the merchants.
Exp is excellent, with not much risk. Only annoyance is the availability of the camp itself, which is usually taken by necros/mages/shammys/bl's in the low 50 range on my server (Lanys).

Hope this helps a bit.

Cheers, and happy hunting.

there are two merchant factions.
Underground is one merchant faction as well as the rogues in FP.
The merchant man in the Seafarer's Roost is on Underground faction.

He will not sell the drom's champagne I need to redo Soulfire quest so I get an alt to buy it.

Apparently the lady sells it but she is closed more often than open.

Doing it with your necro...

My necro is KOS to guards, Ally to the Stargazers, and dubious to the nobles and dealers. Here is how I do it. Just for kicks and to get my pet a couple swords I kill all the guards on the way up and on the floor I am hunting on (even green adds can get you killed) they do drop FS weapons and good pp but the swords get heavy and you can not sell in zone. When ready, find Isabelle wandering around and pull with your Dooming Darkness (Level 49), it will act as both your snare and a decent dot. I park my pet in the very back room in the very back corner. I run there and wait for NPC to open door. By now you most likely have aggro and I always FD while pet taunts. After a little bit, pop up and throw a fear on the NPC. I usually wait until half life and they will never wander down by the Stargazers and get aggro. Rinse and repeat with nobles, it is really quite easy. That is how I do it. I am an Erudite Necromancer. If you do it differently post your guide below and enrich the rest of us.

Actually, you can sell in HHK, Tarn Vislin or whatever his name is, he sells to everyone... As long as you don't try kill him, and if you did, he'd most likely wipe out the entire zone because of your stupidity of attacking a lvl 61 merchant chanter. It's happened before, it could happen again..
Anyways, he sells to all races/classes, he's in a room behind guard dister along with a bard merchant who will also not attack you unless you have horrible horrible bard faction. Been killing guards for over 10 lvls, can still sell to him, he's indifferent to both my iksar and my Vah shir.

There is a better way to kill the Nobles. I can camp the casino room and the bards with this method. I split with Screaming Terror. Cast darkness on the other Noble then Fear, then a poison DOT. When the noble dies, kill some guards to pass the time. The room at the end of the hall sometimes has a Dark Elf who is still blue to me, so she is fun too. When about 3 minutes have passed, kill the remaining noble. Once this noble is dead, the room is split and you are ready to take the bards the same way. The bards spawn much less frequently, so they are easier to camp. Collect any swords that drop and sell to Tarn (sic), he is the Enchanter spell guy on the first floor. I'm KOS to everything in the zone, except him. Remember your +25 CHA steins, I get 2pp more per sword when I'm holding them. I'm even KOS to the banker, but if you FD in front of her, you can use her for banking. This is the best camp in the late 40 early 50s period. I can make a level in about 4 hours camping the Bards and Nobles, while earning 500pp easily. Sorry for the long disjointed message, but I have lots of information to impart. Oh one last thing, if you don't care for faction and have the power to do it, camping the guards here is better than Rathe Mountains. I can make 400pp+ / hour without any chance of death.

No, its not. Although I wish it was, but then everyone would be killing these guys. The most I've ever looted was 8pp, any maybe a rune or piece of armor.
these are good for me to kill

ok, dont believe any of these idiots here, these things are great exp. they are single pulleable at level 52. They hit for 116 MAX, but it depends on the level, some of them only hit for 110. Also, they backstab for 300+, so dont turn around on them. They are rogues, and have so few hps, killing them is a joke. I have been killing them since level 52 and anyone who got owned by them at 58 sucks

Noble was trivial to a 51st necro, pet didnt even need any help. He did spawn "Lozani" a gnome afterwards. The noble I fought didnt hit for more than about 90.

i think you mean the noble on the third floor... the single one who spawns the little gnome... the other two on the second floor still con dark blue to me @ 54 and give good aa exp, even regualr exp isnt too bad but definitely not as good as the lower 50's.
#Anonymous, Posted: Mar 27 2002 at 10:49 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) DONT KILL THESE!!! I tried them at 60 for the fun of it and got them down 4times....they hit over 110 a punch and after you kill a few a no named rare spawn thing pops up, kills you, and then despawns...wierd huh?

They slaughtered your 58 Paladin! What were you doing? Practicing your hand-to-hand skills while naked and unbuffed?
At 44 even my Cleric could take a baby noble out, fully self buffed (790ac and 1700HP), with C2 and a wis buff I took 1 out. Toe-to-toe! Took about 75% health and 50% mana with no mid-battle heals, just crush, bash, nuke. I guess if there were 2 of them on me it would have been different but I have pacify and instill (as does a 58 Pally) so never get multiple pulls. Sounds like you just got cocky and didn't prepare properly

Are they really hard to kill or could a level 51 shaman solo them pretty easily?
RE: Shaman
# Oct 24 2002 at 2:21 PM Rating: Decent
If you can slow it, you can kill it.

As a 51 Shaman you should know that by now. They do hit high for their con but by slowing it you could easily do them, root and rot and they won't even touch you. If you have a JBB more power to you. Root, send pet, and blast away. Shamans can take these at 51 if you have decent gear. Breaking them could be a problem, if you pull both you could be in trouble. NOTE - Do not let them path by the two in the first room at the top of the stairs ( I call them the Stargazer twins). They will assist and quickly beat you down. Safe hunting to you.

faction from killing nobles:
- carson mccabe
- coalition of tradesfolk, illegal
+ ring of scale
- highpass guards
- merchants of highpass

faction from turning in left goblin ears to Captain Bosec:
+highpass guards
+carson mccabe
+merchants of highpsss
+corrupt quenos guards
+freeport militia

coalition of tradesfolk, illegal is the rogues guild in efp. it also may affect standing with merchants in fp. it is the only faction you do not get back by turning in left goblin ears. i have been there from lvl 50 to 52 so far and they are still very good exp and very fast spawn rate. breaking them is usually the hard part as there are two in the casino. they drop anything from a few silver to 7plat, ringmail armor, words, runes, black pearls, flawless aquamarine, and other pretty good jewels and jewelry

My father uses to say this : when you do not know what you are talking about, just shut up...
Coallition of tradefolks underground (illegal some month ago) is freeport rogue faction.
Merchants in freeport, wc and ec seem to be Coalition of Tradefolks, Coalition of Tradefolks Underground (Illegal) and Common Residents.
