Necromancer, huh? Strange, he didn't have a pet. And he casts various shock spells. Hey I know, I bet he's a Wizard. Solo'd him as a 45th Ranger, requiring I do many in-combat heals (*sigh*). Recommend 2HS for melee as he does have a dmg shield. I debuffed him twice with cancel magic to remove it.

This quest is harder than it looks. A friend and I took on Purchin, he killed us both. I am a 25th Paladin my friend a 35th Enchanter. The second time we took him on we had another friend with us, a 29th Druid.
What did we found out about Purchin:
He is a 34th Necro, with spells that appear beyond his level.
And the following fation hits:
Your faction standing with ArcaneScientists got worse
Your faction standing with KnightsofTruth got worse
Your faction standing with OpalDarkBriar got better
Your faction standing with TheFreeportMilitia got better
I got his head and the group shared 3 gold, 5 silver, 3 copper.
So think long and hard before killing this guy.

I don't think the cutlass is worth it... we are Paladins, we do NOT kill those who are innocent of any crime. It is not a crime to build a bridge, save for the Erudites who feel that their land would be 'tainted' by such an endeavor.
If their lands were as pure as they think they are, would Paineel exist?

This is one of 3 guys you have to kill to get the Deep Six Cutlass, a Paladin only weapon. The quest is given by an Erudite, but the weapon is NOT for evil or Erudites only. I hear that you take MAJOR faction hits for doing htis quest. What's up with that???? We need good weapons too and we're supposed to be the GOOD GUYS!!!!!
