After reading the discussion here I decided I would try him with my 22 HLF Warrior (500 AC, 500 ATK). Out of 5 battles he killed me twice and the three I won I was down to less than 20%. Each time I was using an Earthen Blade (yeah it is not that great but this is my main and I am not a twink). When I hit I took him down quickly but he would often triple hit (44,38,15) and that hurt bad.
Once I hit 23 I tried him again and this time I could get him down 12/13 times and usually be at 25-45% HP. Slow healing on my part made me wait til I was at near full HP before trying again so I was not able to pull him constantly.
Once thing I did use to my advantage was the prisoner by the door. I broke the spawn so that the two of them were there are once. When I got Osargen to 50% HP the prisoner would join in and attack Osargen. This acted like a nice DOT to help me fight. Afterwards I would kill the prisoner.
XP was nice. At 22 it was about 1 1/2 blue per kill. At 23 it was just shy of one blue per kill. He does have low HP but can hit hard. He quickly went to Ready to Attack after 4 kills so beware he will aggro if you get to close.
Hunted him a lot. I hunted him at like 18-21 with my druid. He easily gave 2 to 3 blues. A few notes.
1. Im pretty sure he is a monk, if your a caster and your root, or croud controll spells work on him, hes all yours.
2. He sapwns about every 10 minutes.
3. he will fight the other prisoners, giving you time for 1 or 2 spells.
4. I was helping my friend lvl. and I have been FUBARING his faction. he is a Troll SK. I think Innoruk. and well. he was killing those skelle in SK... and um... thats bad with opal and bloodsabre. great. then we come here and kill this guy. by the way at 16 he got 3-4 blue a kill. thats nearly a gold a kill.
A little DS (because we KNOW he will hit) and regen. NOW i need to know how to help my friends faction!!! I will look it up.
For a 23 bard upwards, Osargen is as easy as they come, twist heal, Whistling warsong, and the Selo's Consonant chain, and he drops like a rock.
Gets even easier at 25, Warsong, Chain and the DS you get at that level (Psalm of Warmth I think?)
Just dinged 26 off him, and I'm still getting roughly 2/3 of a blue per kill. not as fun as the goblins, but a reasonable thing to do while waiting on spaces.
My first time in High Keep and I managed to camp this Rogue. My level 24 mage was getting over 1 blue bubble of xp for every kill--and the kills were easy! My pet keeps him busy and I just nuke--3 times and he's dead. I leveled up in just a couple hours.
He is easy as cake with a 23-34 ranger (ac 586 with wurmy and GJB) kill the prisonors off from the lower left corner of the cell, oppisite of osargen, pull the prisoners, kill them off, wait a little to break up the spawn times, root osargen, snare, nuke as much as you can with ignite before root drops, melee to death with nuking every so offen, never lost more then a bubble of health, lost about 2 bubbles of mana, droped necro words
I was waiting for a group in the keep and heard this guy was good solo xp. Gave me about one blue bubble at 25 and almost one blue at 26 per kill. Not bad for risk free soloing.
Had no problems with him as a 25/26 ranger. He took me down about 3 bubs on average. Kill the prisoners first or they will jump on you and even though they are green, 3 on 1 is not fun.
The only problem I had is one time one of the prisoners attacked osargen and stole my kill. Doesn't seem fair, you do 99% of the damage and the prisoner gets the killing blow. Oh well.
Eventually he became KOS so just be careful where you med between battles.
As a druid in wolf form, the other prisonors will always help you. My strategy is to stand next to a prisoner and cast ensnaring roots on Osargen. If it fails, he'll run up to you and the prisoner will agro him. Either way you'll be able to get some nukes off before any melee is neccesary.
This Doofus is eazy kill for 23-24 Tank. Drops NOTHING but good experience. On a 6 minute timer with the other two prisoners. If you med in the opposite corner you can kill the two prisoners and then Ozzy. Dont run or you will get backstabbed. Back out if necessary.
I play a lvl 27 enchanter on the Terris Thule server and I noticed that three of my main nukes and a dot usually get him on the run. When I first started to solo him, prisoners would help me for some reason. Osargen gives me plenty of exp lvl 27, one blue, I got a yellow in like 40 mins
On Xex, this zone is really dead. So when I can't find a group, I'll just go solo this guy a few times. I picked up an entire yellow as a 25 ranger in about 90 minutes just soloing him. In between fights I'd go out to the Pass and kill the bandits for their loot, so I also made a good amount of cash during this time. But this guy does hit hard sometimes, and the guards won't help you if you get in trouble. I found that root/nuke to soften him up makes him easy fodder to melee. One hint is to kill the green prisoners first, or they could aggro on you.
I have a 21 DE Mage. Like a touch of roleplay, so it would suck to be KOS in my hometown, but I could care less about the underground of Freeport, since I have Neriak nearby for anything I need, and my militia and knights of truth faction is fixed from orc slaughtering.
Dismal Rage and Opal Darkbriar: am I ever likely to care that I wasted those factions?
In this case, probably yes.Im a DE SK and while I don't really try to make people who hate me like me,I really dislike screwing up my factions with people who like me or put up with me.So in my opinion i would avoid killing this loser.BTW Dismal Rage is the Qeynos Bertoxxulous worshiper I think, and Opal Darkbriar is FP necros.
Marraxus Soulmaimer, 33 Shadow Knight, Disciples of Justice, Ayonae Ro.
Im emmiting pure Malevolance from my pores. If you have any problems with that,go away.
Opal Darkbriar is indeed the Freeport Necros, but Dismal Rage is the other evil Freeport faction (Inoruuk-worshippers) in the sewers. The Qeynos Bertox worshippers are the Bloodsabres, and they apparently don't care about Osargen at all.
I am a 27 warrior that got that way because of Osargen, I take him and wipe up the floor with him and if you get the spawn on the prisoner by the door down right you get just enough time to sit and heal the bubble he took from you. I will agree with some of the above posts that sometimes he is really angry or something, Ive had him take off 2 and a half bubs sometimes cause i keep missing him and he keeps doubling for 48 which is as hard as he hit me at ac 608. Anyways at level 26 he was giving me just over a half blue making it way easy to level i just might stay till he turns green. Loot is crap. Haven't seen $ off of him just words, runes, and a half of some page or other. Good luck
I'm a 28 monk and I still camp this guy hes blue to me and gives not bad xp I agree he changes with each attack sometimes easy sometimes not but I will say he hits REAL hard I solo him and started at 24 but In think sometimes I got lucky.
I have camped very few npcs in my short life (level 27 Bard on 7th Hammer) for extended periods, but I have found that Osargen is a monster of many moods. There are times when he spawns I can take him down quite quickly leaving 3 or 4 bubs.. and there are times when I can't make a dent in him and I die a horrible experience thrashing death.
His spawn doesn't always backstab, but when he does, it's for 132 and up.
The longer I camped him the more powerful he became, the suddenly his dropped in power and the cycle started over. Be careful where you come into his spawn cycle. He can be a wimp or one mean mother. The cycle may be as many as 15 different incarnations.

I agree, i was camping him last night while waiting to get in a gob group. Im a lvl 24 ranger and some time the fight would go like flame lick root ignite ignite ignite melee dead, 1 bub of health gone maybe and then other times it would go like resist resist resist resist when this would happen and i would toe to toe melee i would be close i killed him about 5 times 2 were easy 3 were hard he does double attack alot and hit me for 40's (ranger with 504 ac) he never dropped any cash for me but did drop some words that are worth 1gp and some change exp beat sitting working on sense heading while waiting for a gob group....just becareful im sure one of his tougher incarations could pose problems at lower lvls and oh yeah kill the prisoner 1st
I started camping him at 2 yellows until 20. The first time I tried to fight him, I died, of course. After a while, I formed a good strat: here it is.
As a druid, stand on the outside of the cell he is in in front of the door. Target him. Be buffed with SLR, Barbcoat, and SoW(no brainer). Try to snare him. As soon as the casting meter goes away, sidestep right to put the 'a prisoner' between you and him. 90% of the time, the prisoner would aggro on him at this point. If instead the prisoner hits you, run to zone and try again. If not, Osargen will turn his attention to the prisoner. The prisoner will die fast. If snare did not catch the first time, try again until it sticks while he is fighting the prisoner. Also cast Swarm on him. DO NOT NUKE HIM AT THIS POINT. If he turns his attention to you before he kills the prisoner, you have a risk of losing the kill (Lost about 4 kills this way, because the prisoner got the last hit).
As soon as he kills the prisoner, run to the end of the hall near the Princess. Nuke him with careless and run back and forth down this hall. You WILL get hit, and hard, but you will be okay. Nuke until he stops moving, and then finish with melee. At 19, you will be below one bub more than likely, but you just earned a full blue bub.
By the time you are healed and medded up, he will be respawned. 6min spawn + 2 min kills = 40 mins per yellow. Beat that!
ah, but. sometimes groups aren't available, and it's nice to know soloing - with decent xp - is an option.
for what it's worth, i have soloed my way through 23 to 25 on my druid with this mob - my strategy is root, DoT, nuke nuke nuke. the only time i've been in trouble is when he broke root unexpectedly, and even then I nuked him until he got the point :) I firmly believe Osargen is a druids best kept secret.
Be smart and don't camp this guy if you are a necro, he ruins faction in freeport necro guild.
As a side note if you are a pet weilding class he has some weird ai that makes him completly disregard your pet and go strait for you, even if you only attacked him with your pet and no spells or anything.

Umm its not a bug some npcs are smart like trakanon he will kill healer first its not a bug its called programming because they do set some of the npcs smarter than other
Yes, Osargen does suck...but there is a good thing to him! He still cons blue at level 31 and is nice for faction raising. Every time you kill him you get better faction with Knights of Truth which I think effects your North Freeport faction as well (could be wrong) and since he cons blue for quite a while...you can train a weapon skill that you suck at. Osargen is nothing more then a slaphead. The kid you can't help but to slap in the back of the head as you take your seat in class. With this in mind, treat him as such. If I ever pass through Highpass and need to visit the bank..I kill him just to do it...slap him in the back of his head.
i am a barbarian warrior lvl 22 with a blade of xalgoz and i can solo this guy easy taking only 1 bubble of damage... he has like no hp and is on a 6 min spawn and i can kill him 5 times in a row before i have to sit for a while to get health back

The posts about this guys hitting pretty hard for his level are correct. He is listed as level 22, but he can hit in the upper 40's (I am a lvl 25 ranger with 560ish ac when self-buffed). Double attacks from him are the norm, not the exception.
My theory about this guy is not based upon anything but my own observations. I have never seen a post about this or anything which would substantiate this theory.
The room he is in has alot of hooks and what looks to be dried blood on the walls. The prisoners, if they don't agro you first, will agro Osargen if he passes by them. In other words, they will attack him.
How is this for a wacked out theory? This room is a torture room and Osargen tortures the prisoners here.
That would seem to be accurate... he is, at least, not a prisoner in the traditional sense of the word. When I got charm at 28, I went back to pay him a visit... and he said something like "Carson McCabe is the lord and master of this pass." (not exact words, but close). I thought it was very strange, and decided the only way to make myself feel better about the whole thing was to go kill some guards. :)

I tried him at 21 with full buffs (including symbol) from a 29 cleric that was leaving the spawn, scraped by with just enough life to keep going, when buffs wore I knew better than to keep it up. I came back at 22 with a 24 cleric friend, popped a pet, hasted the pet, breezed us casters, strengthened, and gave it a whirl. We didn't bother too much with root or debuff, just tried to burn him up quick and let the pet take the hits. Messy, especially if root doesn't take as he heads out the door. We did not use symbol, and broke the spawn on the prisoners so they wouldn't interrupt. The worst time we had we were both oom and I was half life with the cleric at full. Loot is pocket change and research compoinents off of Osargen. Experience was exactly 2/5 of a blue bubble for me, and about a third for my 24th level friend. All in all, safe xp for the trouble, and a steady spawn. I can see this seriously dropping off at 25-6th level though. Have fun . . .
Just thought i'd say that i'm an 20th level warrior, and I can't take him without a little bit of help. He's yellow to me, and he backstabs. I've taken him once because I got lucky and got about 5 double attacks in a row. Just watch out for the backstabs if you try running.
With mend, and my level 20 monk (Spadz) This guy is a relative breeze, finish him off with 1 and a half bubbles. which is good considering he is yellow and gives fairly good xp.
how easy would it be for druids to kill him? i haven't beent o highkeep yet (omw there camped outside hph right now) so i'm not sure if there is room to kite or not
I am (or was) a 20 mage. I heard this guy gives good xp and he did for 2 or 3 kills. Then the tables turned. He killed me 3 times in a row making me lose my lvl. My pet would only root him 1 out of 4 tries and being a mage he made short work of me. So my advice is give this guy a wide berth.
lol im a 24 mage now i hunted him at 20 or at lease i tryed lol SAME EXACT THING happen to me killed me about 3 times maybe 4 in a row and i lost my level then went back to lfay hunted saben turcose and regained level easily but it isnt to hard at level 22 -24 it really gets easy from there being a mage. ive seen level 28 warriors hunting him .
geez, you are a wimp, i killed him quite easily at 20 with my cleric, root nuke nuke nuke root, nuke nuke dead, killed him bout 15 times, only died twice,
haha I've been camping him since lvl 19 WITHOUT lvl 20 spells and I still killed him. Although once ot twice he jsut suddenly started resisting like mad for 4 or 5 kills and i died but generally exp was still good
Man, this guy is a wimp. I could kill him at level 21. Pretty good exp at 20 too, 'bout a blue bubble alone. Pretty good exp for level if I say so. Of course, I am a warrior and required a druid or cleric or some caster or other at 20.
He gives decent faction hits and gives you something to do while you are waiting for your turn of the super long lists. Goblins are diffently better exp and loot.
Bah. sure, this guy is level 22 and can hit kinda hard... but so what, if you are any kind of class with pets (I'm a Magician) he should not cause you any trouble, unless you have low manna, I was exploring the area after getting off of a Lookout group at level 21 and came across the Prison, a Prisinor attacked me, I whooped him, I saw this guy and he conned yellow, so I decided I could use some extra exp. I attacked him, my pet tanked, I nuked, he crumpled at my feet without even getting my pet below 50% HP, I would've camped him had I known his spawn rate. anyways, have fun everyone. Shulgarth of the Rathe Server
Opal Dark Briar is one of the evil trainers/guildmaster in the freeport tunnels. As for the post that says he tortures the prisoners i dont think so more than likely he is a captured thief. and the reason the guards dont agro him is because if they did youd never get a chance to kill him.

Okay, He is level 22 in room with 2 spawn prisoners. To get there from bank. If your coming into bank from high pass. go to the room on the left of the bank. You will then see a merchant there go past that into next room then take right. It will circle you around till you see a prison with him and prisoners on it. This is usually camped for he is good exp. My view is that he is pretty hard for his level. If you are melee anyways. He hits for around 40 or more and hits fast. He usually doubles attacks also. So that would be 80 or so. Yes he can also backstab so watch that. He is a pretty fast spawn around 5mins. When I was level 24 sk I had a 2h mith and mastered double and 2h. He still whooped my ass sometimes. So if you are a tank grab a partner around 20 or so not higher than you and you will be able to kill him and heal up and ready for the next spawn. Like this he is very good exp. Better than the goblins downstairs with a group. Trust me.
i am a dark elf rogue lvlv 23 and the prisoners attacked him to when he was death and i cam close to the prisoners thay attack me :) i get good exp shame he spawns every 5 a 6 min (wel that is kinda fast) i didnt fight him alone i had a cleric whit me to help.. i sneak to him backstab cleric runs in balst he turns back i backstb etc he is easy then.
Ok, for the person who said he was harder than he really cons. He is a sissy for his lvl, he has low ac, low amounts of HPs. At level 20 i could kite him around with my druid up and down the halls with only about 3 bubs of mana. If you play your cards right, this guy is an easy kill.
BAH i am a warrior and its pretty tough to kill him, he hits for 46 or so and doubles, he gets me berserk, but i have never died from him, but he is good exp but kinda tough at 22-24 w/ a warrior unless u have a healer, my suggetion is to split the spawn w/ a healer type and let him kill one spawn then u kill next spawn , and have the healer buff u and heal u while u fight him =)
i know what you mean, i hate people that camp a spawn for 5 lvls too long. I camped Osargen til 25 then stopped cuz exp was gettin too slow. 30 is psycho, must take people like that days to level up.
Osargen is way harder than his con says. He conned blue to me at lvl 25, but whipped me easily, he hits for usually 40s and he can backstab for 100+ if u turn around to fight a prisoner
