i hav had at him 3 times. all at me level 58, regardless of gear, he is still underconned. i was using ragebringer and mace of focused flame. got him to 20% poppin 2 discs and 2 healin pots. still owned me
Zoned into DS earlier today, looking for aug drops. Saw this mob hanging out down the hill close to the PoD zone in. Wasn't going to attack it, but then the mob started heading right towards me, so I said to myself "why not?". So I casted a slow on it, then DoTed with BoN and started running in the opposite direction thinking I could kite it. Well, after it summoned me about three times I finally made it back to my pet (who I had placed near the spawn point of the mob that drops the Dull stone of Sorrow) only to find that I had also aggroed a Dragorn Commoner. So I proc'ed my pet and took out the Dragorn Commoner, and now I'm down to 50% health. Not liking the area I was in, I tried to move the battle closer to the PoD's, only to get summoned a few more times. My pet was very confused, and ran back to his guard point. I'm now down to 10% health, so I pop one of those nifty CH potions. I dropped 3 DoT's on the Baby Murk, then realize that my pet is nowhere to be seen. So I run back towards my pet, and get summoned a few more times along the way. Poc pet again, nuke with a few ice storms (not much of a nuke) and then recast the DoT's. Now I'm again down to 40% health and also 10% mana, so I pop one of those nifty mana potions that take you to 100%. I heal myself while my pet tanks and DoT's do their work, I cast DoT's for a third time and think it's over when that ugly NAMED mob (Ukin Gullerfest or whatever its name is) pops right on top of my head! So I think, can it get any worse, and DoT the named with my barrage of 3 DoT's. The baby is down to 7%, and Gullerfest is tearing me up, so I use a hit of that Transgression rod that had been MGB'ed by someone in PoK right as I was logging in that morning, that perks my mana up to about 40% and I nuke the life out of the baby murk, who never ran, BTW. I turn and finish off Gullerfest, and sit back in my mount happily as I realize that I just gotten out of someting bigger than I had expected. My health was down to 13% my mana was down to 7%, but I was alive, albeit a nerveous wreck! The Baby murk dropped the Drape, the named dropped a Boneflow Stone, Veil, and Skin (shammy epic 1.5), and the Dragorn Commoner, what a nice surprise, dropped a Waterflow Stone.
I noted that the Baby Murk seems to regen very fast, so keep DoT's going, also, likes to summon if you run away, so don't let its slowness fool you, you won't get far. Conned DB to me, but fought like it was even or yellow. Casts a spell, that I resisted at first, several times so you'll have to deal with that as well, its not bad though. Never ran either, don't know if it was because of the add or my health situation, but either way, it didn't run.
Finally, I don't see why people say don't kill? I could barely take this sucker out (57 Shammy), and there were like 3 peeps in the entire zone. If someone wants to camp it so that it matures into an elder murk then great, waste a whole day, but if no one has laid claim to it, then it is fair game for anyone at any point in it's life cycle. I know if it was any stronger I would have been wiped, but this fight was fun for me, and I got very lucky with the drops.
something very odd i noticed while i was camping gut feaster the other day, i was watching track and the newborn changed from a green con at 66 to a light blue con RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY EYES, this leads me to believe this mob levels up and when it reaches a certain lvl it despawns and spawns its next form
As it ages, it feeds on mobs. Each time it feeds, it grows in streanth. At a certian cut off for each stage, it evolves to the next stage. newborn, youthful, etc.
question to Fcoty with the 47 warrior. How is it that you have a Blade of Disruption considering your a warrior and it is a SK PAL only weapon? You must be special i guess :/
Followed this little guy around for awhile last night letting him mature, all the while fighting off greenies with pet. Was so hopeing to get him to mature to DB for some good drops and ok XP. I had no choice but to begin my attack on acount of a mid lvl group of 3 eyeing him:( Mabey I should have let them have a go at him, and laughed my arse off as he comenced to smokeing them one at a time, but I couldn't take that chance. He is slowable, landed my BST 50% slow and several other BST DOT's and DD's. Resisted my poision spells at first but landed them eventualy. Even for a LB con to me, he put up one hell of a fight. Was probably very close to getting a higher lvl. I understand the ROE (rules of engagement) for EQ, but if you see this mob, it would be nice to check to see if anyone is camping him. He droped the Drape for me, not a bad edition for my NEC when he is high enough to wear it:)
47 warrior, 4.5k hp, 1100ac, Cowl of Mortality haste and chanter hasted, Sword of the Bloodsworn and Acid Etched War Sword. Me, 44 cleric and 49 enchanter. I tagged it from the wall. Never saw one before. Fought it for 10 mins till cleric and enchanter was oom, called for gate. I never got it below 90%. /sigh
/ooc Looking for rez in Guild lobby plz.
Oh well.

Somewhere heckling Fleven about updating quest info lol...
I followed him around for one hour. When he spawns, he takes a tour of the area. He goes in a circular pattern. Stopped to eat twice in one hour. He can be pulled when he gets close to the southeast wall without much trouble.
He (it) is immune to all form of speed spells (roots and snares), cannot be feared, cannot be mezzed. I didn't try to slow, lull, or charm it, so I don't know if it can be done. He can be stunned, though.
EDIT: Forgot to add that it is NOT undead, and does not see through regular invis.
It does summon, and it runs at about Run2 speed.
Dropped the necklace 4 times in one night.
Forget about letting it live, anyone who can track goes and jumps it as soon as it spawns.

Summons highest hit was 194 casts weak murkglider Venom ( resied everytime with 219 poison resist) id say it runs a tad slower then run3 but not much was able to gain a little over time but a pure speed buff like sow is reccomended to get distance. ( if kiting) Immune to run speed changes. didnt experience any major resists.
hits in groupps of 3 seldomly more hen 300 hp pr salvo note i had CS & CA 1 AAs

I understand your wanting of this little beasty to grow into its larger, better dropping form, but the aspect of it is, is that most people dont even read up to these sites...most of them are what i call 'hack'n slash" players...meaning all they do is kill kill kill, no questing for anything, so for the people who do read these sites, listen to what the people have to say, the info can help, oh...by any chance, can a 59 cleric with 4.3k hp, round 1k atk and 1.1k ac fully buffed solo the stronger form of this little bease?

Thank you first to the guys from Brell Serilis. They left this little bugger to me for more than a few hours with plenty of complaints and criticism with them thinking I didn't know what I was doing.
The Newborn Murkglider Devourer is a little baby that wants to grow up. Once he spawns he will feed on anything close to it every 30 minutes from my timings of him. He will level from my guess every kill and start hitting harder and betting bigger. My findings were as follows:
Spawned at 02:35:28 Fed at 03:06:31 - killed a noc Fed at 03:32:15 - killed an ukun Fed at 04:01:12 - killed a Dragorn peon Fed at 04:31:06 - killed a noc Fed at 05:26:43 - killed a noc havocblade with a max hit of 178 Fed at 06:13:18 - killed a dragorn commoner with a max hit of 186 Fed at 06:41:48 - killed a dragorn commoner: Turned light blue to me at level 69: after it fed the phrase said became more powerful form it's feeding Fed at 07:36:49 - killed an ukun slaughterhound with a max hit of 194
After that last kill it mutated to the Young Murkglider Devourer. Well since I had to already stop about 13 guys from killing it already and was kind of tired of hearing so many guys complaining about me being a naturalist, ohh, that's right, I'm a ranger anyway, I decided to slaughter the little bugger and take the loots for myself and leave all the complainers with nothing but their thoughts while I walked away with the Mantle of Bones with is shown on the loot table of the Young Devourer.
So roughly 4 hours to grow up once. I will time the bigger one next weekend and let you know what to expect for your next fight and fill in the blanks from this report. Realize it did not always kill at 30 minutes. So I cannot yet give you an exact maturity rate, but you can see that you will be babysitting. Beware that some of the Kyv and Ukuns do see through Invis and then you will be training to the zone out. Be nice and head to one of the other exit points besides the Priests of Discord. Also, as a ranger goes it takes about 4 seconds to track any named from the time you zone in, so you cannot leave the Newborn alone if you are serious about allowing it the time to grow up because some pain in the butt NEWBIE will try and kill it thinking he somehow got the agro before you even though you have been there for 3 hours stalking this thing as if you were it's own mother. So just a little advice for all those in the zone. Leave the dang thing alone. Better loot awaits for the bigger ones. You will of course have a harder time allowing it the time to grow up past a young because other players will tell you to they got agro and it's their kill. The GM's need to do something about this which I have already petitioned that act. As the Newborn kills it as you see hits harder and will later probably have a bigger agro radius and better poison. I did not collect the information of that YET!!!
See you all in DS; I have some baby sitting to tend too!
Excellent information, but I have a question: Since the message you cited said it grew more powerful from feeding, is it really necessary to babysit it for hours to make it grow? Or can you lure other mobs over to get it to feed faster? (You might have to then outrun it, or feign death, to get it to aggro the other mob in preference to you.)
If something like that works, then the older versions might be worth aiming for. Otherwise, as you and others have noted, the "rules of engagement" in EQ make it nearly impossible to keep other players from killing the newborn.
He wanders, but I've noticed he stops and sits a while fairly close to the Priest of Discord. NW from the PoD camp is where I have found him. I'll get back with an exact loc.
There is no way this mob will ever get a chance to evolve. I followed it for over an hour tonight waiting for it to evolve. I was 3 feet from it when someone else ran up to it. Even after I said it was camped and I was waiting for it to evolve, he sent his pet in on it. As long as there are idiots out there like that they will never grow up.

i was a 55 brd and took him 2 times alone --- no big deal for kiters (as long as you keep poison resists up) dropped the collor which was an upgrade for me and a rather good one so you can tell i am not twinked. didn't even have to charm kite just run in a circle. always a good idea to have a pally with you though (some one has to die)) j/k

I have seen the Newborn spawn as fast as 5 minutes apart and have seen it as long as 1 hour. Just kills a few Murk's and you should have it up in no time
all I can say is that it isnt 45 lol its DB but DAMN. there is no way that my 55 sk could take it on by herself. was able to with a 66 druid healing me though, it kept summoning her though. This is a damned fiesty mob lol
Have seen this dude regularly in DS. Camo up, follow him till he gets close to a wall then used pet to agro him and drag them both back to the wall and just just dot away slowly, Necro pet has no trouble, heal or lay hands if needed. Summons occasionally. Is immune to changes in RunSpeed. He seems to spawn close to the second Rock Bridge (Northern one) but then roams. Green to 66\Necro
If you leave this mob up, he will mature... meaning he gets more powerful and drops better stuff. While he can be soloed as baby, you will need group for later incarnations.
I have killed him twice and gotten the Drape both times. I just strode right in and nuked and DoTted ... and healed myself when he put a small hurt on my HPs. Just put a DS and regen on yourself as well as saves (not really sure if I had any on me, but it might have helped) and go to town on him.
I never had an add and never was in fear of dying.
he dropped the neck item for me also and if you have a healer its a doable mob at level 55 as i only had a shammi freind healing me as i nuked his butt... very tough guy indeed...
This mob is NOT rare. I have killed him 3 times and he has killed me 3 times. He summons and stuns and dots. Cons DB to me at level 65 and can't be snared or rooted.
Took this one down the other day with druid and 65 necro. Was and easy pull i was using innate camo to look around and see what was what and it pathed right by me. I dropped camo to prox agro and recamoed and ran it back to my buds. I shot it as necro pet tanked it then for the heck of it i ran in and tanked it at 60%. Hit me for max of 80 and went down fast, low hps-level varies? Anyway was very easy kill and dropped the collar of vigor for us, druid won roll for her ranger alt. Going back now to camp the ukun for the aug hehe.
just killed him with a lvl 52 warrior and lvl 62 druid, Pulled with snare then dotted with epic and healed while warrior took it down, fight lasted about a minute and only needed 3 heals. Easy mob for reward imho
Always choose your battle ground first. This guy considered light blue to my 65 Necro. I ran up and proximity aggroed the Newborn, and ran him to the zone wall. Remember, they can't summon you if you don't do any damage. Once at the wall, sicked 65 CoB Pet who had Temp and 63 Rune of Death buff. Pet whacked mob, I cast Funeral Pyre, Blood of Thule, and Saryns Kiss. Mob summoned me and I tap-tanked it about 20 seconds until it was dead.
believe it or not this this killed me, lvl 66 ranger. summons and hits fast, i have both epic swords but my slow didnt stick till late in the fight, used up all my mana with my 4 biggest nukes and melee'd till death.
I've made two visits to this zone, separated by a day real time, and found him up both times. That's not enough information to say whether he is rare or not, but I can tell you that he is a roamer, is light blue to 65, immune to changes in runspeed, and hits max about 162.
Trackable from the portal zone-in with a skill of 125.
