Killing him has some serious faction hits with it... I killed him twice (got the head the second time), and went from apprehensive with the guards to scowling, and dubious with the smugglers/Anson to scowling.
I'm almost finished with my rogue epic and all I have left is the the turn in of the c quill, jd dagger, and gen pouch. Went to Stanos in HH and he and his goons tagged up on me. When I went to him before, I wasn't KOS to him. Now I am. Need guidance to try and turn in. Do I shroud or get a magic class to summon him as I turn in and sneak and hide?
Well I had a mage friend assist me with this so I didn't FUBR my faction with Stanos. I spawned him, let the mages pet kill Stanos, and well afterwards I went to loot and well, Stanos was apparently lacking his head... It was not looted by anyone else..does he have a chance of not droppnig his head,as odd as that sounds?
I thought I looked up everything I needed to know when I was working on Ragebringer for my baby rogue. I had the robes and everything else ... all I needed was to kill the general. I also lopped off Stanos' head to play both sides and get the Guise of the Coercer while I was at it. So I clear the dark elf cabin, do the secret handshake with the coercer, and spawn the general. I hand him Stanos' head before I slaughter him. Then General V'ghera DESPAWNS! Sure I got the mask... but now I'm back to pickpocketing again. LOL.
Ok, I tried soloing him - got him to 38% health, but had to zone with 8% hp left. Tried douing him, with no better result. But I finally got him today with the help of three guildies.
1) Spawn Stanos by saying to Anson, "I need to see Stanos". 2) Aggro Stanos by using Assassin's Feint. 3) Run off cliff by High Pass Hold.
The first three attempts, I tried to tank him at the High Pass Hold zone line.
First attempt - burned Assassin's Discipline II, Blinding Speed Discipline and had to zone with Stanos at 38%, me at 8%. Adds were Anson McBale and Cylra, the rogue GM.
Second attempt - with bot lvl75 shaman, ended with a dead rogue and almost dead shaman. Used Lithe Discipline II on rogue, while trying to slow the mobs with shaman bot. Adds were Anson McBale and Cylra, the rogue GM. All three mobs seemed to be unslowable.
Third attempt - with bot lvl75 shaman and a lvl75 enchanter guildmate, end with dead rogue, dead shaman and dead enchanter. Used Lithe Discipline II on rogue. Adds were Anson McBale and Cylra. Enchanter was able to mez Anson and Cylra, but mez never lasted more then 30 seconds. Enchanter confirmed that slow was not sticking even after tash.
Fourth attempt - with lvl75 shaman (not bot'ed), lvl75 enchanter, lvl75 cleric and lvl75 rogue. Spawned Stanos, ran to Kithicor zone line - no adds (not sure if they got hung up on the terrain or not). Shaman and cleric used short quick heals and HoT's to keep rogue up, used Assassin's Discipline II and Blinding Speed Discipline. Stanos was dead in about 60 seconds - HAD HEAD ON HIM.
Now to clear the DE house in Kithicor of all DE's but one for the turn-ins.
both 75, not sure on her AAs but i only have 415. unbuffed 10.2k bard.
drank hot pot at beginning of fight, did unslowed, and switched agro back and forth. when the rogue got agro and hit like 30% she ran for the zone and i just tagged him on the way back.
hit deftdance to finish him til he ran and then killed him =0)
You can spawn him by talking to Anson. Say "speak to Stanos" and he'll pop. Do your top and bottom page hand in's and he despawns after giving you the combined pages back.
spawned him, pulled with mrylokers gloves from max distance, was able to hide while casting and give myself a head start. trained him to the ZL of kithicor forest, waited for him to get there and escaped. proceeded to hail him for abit but it didnt work to good, so i hid up and razorarch'd him stepped in with counterstrike disc, when that dropped i used assassin discRK2, by that time was a few light blue adds on me / anson mcbiel and a few others from the rogue area. Assassin Disc dropped so used blinding speed disc and finished stanos off with 20% hp's left and activated Tumble and zoned out. came back and looted head.
used self buffs only, shield of maelin, fire element, tacvi ice dmg shield shoulders, FoE-3, orb of duskmold, miraculous visions, aura of rage, fungeral regrouth.

75 Warrior and 75 Cleric, our tactic was to pull him with hate agro from combat abilities so he wouldnt summon while bringing him to Kith ZL. Once we got there Warrior let his Hps drop to Furious and ate up Stanos. Afterwards i patched a heal. Was way to easy. He dropped head on first go. Logged Rogue..
*Had rog spawn stanos and camped to bst. *cleric pacied anson mcbale and ran out of smugglers cave near inn beside the water *bst pulled with slow for agro to where clr sat *none of the adds followed *high hit around 550ish but hits fast and multiples (think he quads) a lot, rarely misses *summons *only spell that landed, even after roar, was cold dd for about 10% of max, and only once *bst hit offensive disc, then aura of spirit, then defensive disc *clr kept hot on bst, cast hammer pet and CH at 60-70% *pet procs did not stun and did not snare *runs at 10% so no enrage
For helluvit and because I was not having luck getting folks willing to go for something as trivial as this... I decided to try Stanos solo for his Head. Simply spawn and smack him right where he popped. Scoundrell, 75 Rogue, full buffed, 14.3khp, 2.2kac, 2.0 and 967 AAs... Didnt expect too much but what the heck I say... I had Expedient Recovery up for a 100% xp rez if needed.
I hit Coldain ring for a wee DS, summoned a Stoic Wolf from my Direwolf Totem of Battle for extra double attack and regen, drank a Scoriae Bite poison, had regen potions avail, and all discs avail. Summoned Stanos and rehid.
Hit Daggerfall II, BS'd him, hit Lithe Rk II, Twisted Shank, clicked 2.0, drank a regen pot ... and let the fun start. Was hoping to drill through his HP faster than he could call for all his buddies. Not so. Got him down to 75% with me at 30% and maybe 25-30 mobs around me that he called and more walking up. Escaped and gave Stanos a rude gesture.
With a hailer avail at a zone line, I can pull him to zone, hailer keeps him there, I zone out and back. Then engage when adds all gone. Will try this later and see if his radius of calling for help wont reach so far.
Hmmm...Unless they changed it recentily, no you don't. I not only spawned him, but did everything on my epic but the final turn in (Not because I couldn't, but I dinged before I got the items for it) at level 50, and the first time I spawned him, I was indifferent with Anson. On the other hand, I'm a rogue, so maybe we can spawn him when ever...Or maybe EQ just hates you, who knows?

I am a dark elf and proud! I enjoy the hours I spend looking for a merchant who won't kill me on sight! I treasure the times when I am attacked by everything in the zone while I am trying to med! I love the weight of all of the money I have, because there are no bankers who will trade with me! I am a dark elf and proud!
My faction with Beta Neutral is so good, The Keeper of Lost Things gives me my corpse for free.
Your faction standing with HighpassGuards got worse. Your faction standing with CarsonMcCabe got worse. Your faction standing with MerchantsofHighpass got worse. Your faction standing with CorruptQeynosGuards got worse. Your faction standing with TheFreeportMilitia got worse.
Just a few things I've learned that might help. When he does zone wide call, mobs don't agro you, they walk (not run) to where Stanos is. Even after the purpetrator is gone, they will still ALL wallk to him. Some will sit there for a bit and then go (walk) home. Others sit there, for a very long time! (Kaden Gron, Crenn Salbet, Prak, Wes Corber to name a few). As I'm writing this, two of them just left however. But they must have been there for at least 15 minutes. But immediately after, there will be this mess of mobs all sitting on one spot, makes it nearly impossible to trade with the one you want.

Killed Stanos twice on 24 June 2005 with a single group of level 70 toons and a botted 55 shaman. He dropped a couple of Mithril Daggers the first time. The second time we killed him, he dropped his head, a vial of Human blood, and some random casters words. I had the following in the group:
Human paladin, Human Wizard, High Elf enchanter, Dark Elf cleric, Vah Shir shaman, and myself (Half Elf rogue). The level 55 botted shaman was mine on a separate account. Aside from my rogue (ally) and shaman (dubious), everyone else was KOS in the zone. Was a fairly straight-forward fight:
- The group members waited at the entrance of High Keep. They were KOS there, so they just killed any NPCs there. We got fully buffed.
- I had my 55 shaman at the East Karana border. I trained Anson there, zoned out, then had the shaman spam-hail him. If you ignore Anson too long, he'll eventually wander back home. A hail will stop him from helping Stanos.
- I zoned back in, had the enchanter rune me, go invisible, and follow me up to pacify Cyrla.
- Once Cyrla was pacified, I pulled Stanos to High Keep's entrance. Stanos hits for roughly 240-520 and quickly. He's not slowable, relatively high resists. He went at him full DPS mode, with the cleric casting Complete Heal. My botted shaman kept hailing Anson.
- Stanos flees at 10% health. I zoned into High Keep to keep my faction high. He didn't get very far before dying.

- agro anson and pull to Karana zone line, zone out yourself - have a lvl 55+ standing there and spam hail ansos - pop stanos via /say I want to see stanos to anson - have a pacify puller pacify Cyrla - pull Stanos to KF zone line - on pull Stanos will call for help and all NPC will run to the spot he calls for help, the trick is that the puller keeps agro and wait for Stanos to hit the KF zone line. Then the MT takes agro over and puller zones out (important)
This is just plain retarded. I spawned Stanos, pulled him clean. Zoned out to make sure, zoned back in, engaged, and around 30-45 seconds later 15 monsters (including Anson and the other 61 Rogue in the Smuggler area, I forgot her name) came running out. It seems they assist him from anywhere in the zone, and a few other NPCs came too, I forgot what they were. "Bartender" and a few other lower level NPCs.
because he does a zone wide help as soon as he agros something, because you zoned out and re-agrod you got the new help call. Someone has to take over agro before you zone out
Pretty much same thing to me today. Anybody know why everything in the zone on his faction comes running? Has it always been this way, or something new? And if this is goona be the norm, is Anson snareable/rootable/mezzable/charmable? Need to get that guy off while we kill Stanos.
Arrrgh I hate this guy. Had time + geared bard pulling this time, got him single 4 outta 7 or 8 tries. Killed him those 4 times and only dropped the head once.
Also drops mithril dagger x2 and a rune (diff each time. rune of the astral, ones like that) each time.
Hello.... Rouges, I am a necro and I am collecting any illusion i can because... just because hehe, i think its fun, well i noticed that the mask doesnt have to be equiped to cast... so I'm planning to do this quest.
Question; does stano's summon? snareable?
Thank you~

You can find more information about Stanos under the entry for the mob that spawns him (link follows). You may have to scroll down a few messages, but at the time of this post, most are about Stanos.
Stanos is level 65, not 61. He is also the main NPC of the Rogue Epic 1.0 quest and if you want Guise of the Coercer, you'll have to kill him and loot his head. Also, with the release of OoW, Stanos has started giving new text that I assume is part of the new Rogue Epic.
