You face this mob when you zone into the instance. Have a rogue SoS behind him and pick pocket until you get "Runic Inscription." Hand the Runic Inscription to the Caretaker and the door behind him will unlock. You can now move the raid into the hallway. The Caretaker doesn't aggro even though he scowls.
