Velsor's tip works. I just got my drained cipher without killing any servants and without dying. Actually, I didn't even get hit. I used Flight of Eagles (slightly faster than SoW) plus a bunch of other buffs that ended up not mattering. (Blessing of the 9, symbol, magic resist, rune, focus, etc.) I created a hotkey with "/say I would like to know" and on another line "/say continue". I positioned myself on the ridge alongside the entrance to VP, near the servants around Enrid. I recommend that angle as it avoids agro from the servant most downriver and will have you climbing a gentle slope on the other side of the lava, so you don't get held up climbing up past Enrid.

When ready I targeted Enrid and charged towards him (without invis of course, or else the hotkey won't work). As I got close I started hitting my hotkey but had to pause for just a moment right next to him (still pounding the hotkey) before I saw the quest text appear, and started running straight ahead again. I also saw the messages of four of the servants agroing, but none of them actually swung before I was past them. Those four followed me most of the way to the zone wall that is close by, but then warped back to Enrid. There's not a lot of wanderers out there, so nothing else agroed me.

Apparently Enrid didn't register my "continue" line but he gave me the drained cipher just for the "I want to know", so it wasn't a problem.

For the record, while scouting I noticed that two of the servants were see invis and the other three weren't.
Single Pulls

I cleared these yesterday with a couple friends (65 Pal, Dru, Cler, Wiz, most very well equipped). The best way to pull we found was to have someone (we used the wiz) agro them and take off running. The tank then just tags one, the others follow the puller and end up snapping back to their spawn point. Worked like a charm every time.
You don't have to fight them.

You don't have to get these guys to get the Drained Cipher of Veeshan. They don't run faster than SoW and warp back to their spawn points before moving too far from Enid. So what you can do is get SoW/SoE/Selo's (and Rune if possible), make a hotkey social of "say I would like to know", activate Divine Aura or Harmshield if possible, run up to Enid really fast, hit the hotkey as you're almost on top of him to get the cipher (you will have to actually be in the lava, or hovering over it) and then run as fast as you can out of the area.

Chances are you should at least make it to him fast enough to get the Cipher, and if you're lucky you'll make it out alive (I did, albeit with only 12% HP remaining... this was with Run3, no SoW and Harmshield... in retrospect I probably should not have tried summoning my horse after Harmshield dropped, given their slow acceleration).

Best thing to do though is just get the cipher after or before your raid force kills Phera Dar's shade. I didn't because of some miscommunication, and I didn't feel like dragging my friends all the way out to Skyfire to kill some wyverns, so I solo'd it this way.
Not too hard.

They hit for 826, AE snare, AE blind, and AE rampage.

They're social, but if they don't have anyone beating on them they port back to their spawn points. Bring an FD puller. After one has been peeled off, have the puller FD, and the adds warp back and lose agro.

They rampage a lot, which is annoying, but only the very first one snared and blinded, and only cast each once.

None of the ones we fought saw invis. They were not pacifiable, they were rootable, they weren't terribly resistant to fire or magic, and they were partially slowable.

All in all, it was fairly easy. We had a 65 wizard, 65 mage, 65 bst, 65 cleric, 65 pally, and a 59 sk (puller). Rampage was the only tough part.

Respawn is pretty quick. Five to ten minutes at the most. We all got ours, and tried to get another wizard there, but by the time she had ported there, they were back up.

-- EDIT --
I should mention, none of us are elemental or time flagged, so they really aren't that bad.

Max hit on my wizard was 824. They don't see through invis. Several stand around the drake Enrid (sp?) for the Veeshan key quest.
