I hunted these today in Guk. At 39, they conned blue to me; they conned white and yellow to the level 35 druid who was with me. The previous ones I've conned (from levels 36 up) were also blue.
Optic Nerves
# May 12 2000 at 2:25 AM Rating: Decent
Smelly do crafted quest. Do da optic nevers spawn on da weak evil eyes as well (lvls 17-19) and how often do dey optic nerves in general spawn?
PBBS
# Apr 21 2000 at 11:49 AM Rating: Decent
Evil eyes in beholder drop Polished Bone Bracers 2ac +3wis +3int, but seem to be a very rare drop
RE: PBBS
# Oct 11 2000 at 11:02 PM Rating: Default
They are mainly spawned on the Lord evil eye spawns(randomly spawned on either of the 2 sides in Beholder) and are droped about 1/20 every evil eye
VERY FUNNY
# Apr 21 2000 at 9:32 AM Rating: Decent
I wonder if you were lvl 50, or close to that, and a warrior if you could were some mithril bracers and other items to get your magic resist WAY down. Get charmed and then go kill everyone in the zone with your spined dragon claws and bloodfire. If I started getting hit by that I would just type /loc
Kinda Funny
# Apr 14 2000 at 1:29 PM Rating: Decent
It was almost funny when my entire group(lvl 19 warrior, lvl 16 Necro, and lvl 17 shaman)all turned on me with the Evil eye and it's pet...all 5 of them all beating on me; needless to say I died. Of course all of them managed to zone when the charm wore off.
Fighting EE's
# Apr 14 2000 at 11:24 AM Rating: Decent
If you don't have a weapon and you are charmed, you will still attack party members hand-to-hand. To prevent this, equip a fishing pole, a stein or any non-weapon item that goes in primary slot. You won't attack at all and everyone else can just nuke away.
Evil Eye Level
# Apr 12 2000 at 8:32 PM Rating: Decent
Hey just wanted to add that they go to levels higher than 30. I was in Runnyeye recently and ran into a yellow con eye for my 30th level character, so that makes it 31 or 32. This was not a named evil eye either, just a plain old evil eye.
Gorge
# Apr 10 2000 at 12:26 AM Rating: Decent
I can only speak for the gorge, but yes you will cast if charmed .. hehe and tanks are not fun if they get a hold of you ... another thing to be VERY warry of is, in the Pit is the Gorge .... if Charmed and you are solo the eyes will cause you to run up the side of the hill .... then giggle as they and anyone else there watchs you drop for 10k in dmg ... this is a head ache you are not going to loose soon ... best adives .. jus nuke the ******* hard and fast ... let the randomixer sort out the rest ... =)

Evil Eyes in EK and Beholder
# Apr 06 2000 at 8:35 PM Rating: Decent
The Evil Eyes in beholder and Eastern Karanna are enchanters that cast level 16 spells. They can charm you easily if you get too close and yes you will cast spells. I have killed many a running adventurer with a DD... Best way to kill these things is to have the casters stand back and trade spells with the Eye while a tank waits for the pet to come up. The PBB is nice!
Loot
# Apr 02 2000 at 12:56 AM Rating: Decent
Don't forget they drop the elusive PBB, or the laymens name Polished bone bracer, they sell very well
These are a casters prey
# Mar 30 2000 at 1:41 PM Rating: Decent
If you make sure that you (as a caster) don't have any weapons available (including in your ranged slot). You can sit there and nuke it out with the eyes. If they charm you, you will not attack your party members. You will just run up and stare at them. After your group members finish the mob, they can dispel your magic, or they can just let you wait it out. :)
#Anonymous, Posted: Mar 18 2000 at 1:22 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) they do! heres how you do it. give the eye stalk to the POD then attack and he will not hit you back. is a very good way to get black flowing robe which the pod wears!
getting hit by EE's?!?
# Mar 15 2000 at 11:37 AM Rating: Decent
hmmm, I went to camp the EE's last night to try to get a couple of PBB's (succesful btw : P) and I just nuked them twice and they fall...they don't even get past there spawn spot, kinda fun, and the exp at 22 is awesome..and walk away unharmed with no worries
spores
# Mar 14 2000 at 11:57 PM Rating: Decent
I have run into ee's in the gorge that die in one hit but leave you with a dot spore that will apperently not wear off until you die. I was 21rst level and I killed the ee for exp but the dot just kept going and going. Dont know if this will work but if you get the drop on a ee without a pet in the maze the chances are that its a spore so see if you can kill it long distance and avoid the dot
Monks and Charm
# Mar 06 2000 at 11:47 AM Rating: Good
Give your monks a (one) one hand bashing weapon. This will probably render them harmless. At least it will with me.
charm and casting
# Mar 01 2000 at 11:00 AM Rating: Decent
These things just have a nasty disposition. My partner and I were out hunting in EK, and bumped into one of these. It charmed me and I dot'd her four times in as many casting (and my mana didn't drop any!) Needless to say, she died and I was one unhappy druidess.
STAFF of the observers
# Mar 01 2000 at 11:00 AM Rating: Decent
nope the lens of borxx is needed for the staff of the observer, drops from the names EE boraxx in RE i think
Charming
# Mar 01 2000 at 11:00 AM Rating: Decent
I was charmed but very briefly (under 1 min) and my partner got charmed but hers lasted longer (about 5 min). As a spellcaster, I didnt cast any spells (while charmed) and by the time I got to a party member to hit her (per EE instructions) it wore off and I was able to zap the EE with a spell.
Also, they like to use a blast of force spell to blow ye backwards - stay near zone and they will blow ya right out, thereby saving yer life for ye;-)
Evil Eyes in Runneye
# Mar 01 2000 at 11:00 AM Rating: Decent
The EE's in runneye are wizards not enchanters and are alot harder then the fellows in the Gorge. They are around 30th and drop items needed for the crafted armor)
#Anonymous, Posted: Mar 01 2000 at 11:00 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I think the optic nerves can be turned in in steamfont, if you have good faction, into the observeration houses near the wall. Ask for which one gives the quest by hailing, but if you give one of them the nerves they give you a staff of the observers. It's a REALLY nice staff!!! 12 damage, 35 delay, +5 int, +5 wis, 50 charges of sentinel (depends on faction for charges), 2h blunt and weighs 11 lbs. It's pretty good for a druid or cleric.
loot
# Mar 01 2000 at 11:00 AM Rating: Decent
The optic nerves are NOT stackable, the eyestalks are (you just sell those). Also dropped are polished bone hoops which are 10 mana earrings. The most coveted and rare drop is the polished bone bracelet (pbb) with 3 INT 3 WIS.
Optic Nerves
# Mar 01 2000 at 11:00 AM Rating: Decent
The optic nerves dropped by the evil eyes are for the crafted bracer quest. They also stack. The bracers are not lore. Hence, you can get a bunch of nerves and make some moolah. But im just a dumb 29th warrior and I still don't wanna mess with the e-eyes :)
one thing about 'dispell'
# Mar 01 2000 at 11:00 AM Rating: Decent
One thing to keep in mind about the 'dispell' spell, for you clerics and paladins out there that might use it. It rolls against the top buff in the chain of icons on your warriors. so if they have buffs up, sometimes you have to dispelkl everything on them to get the charm off.
RE: one thing about 'dispell'
# Aug 28 2000 at 10:14 AM Rating: Good
Sometimes, using a "root" type spell is just better... it breaks shortly and you don't have to waste all that mana rebuffing the person.

Also, if the person is smart, they will stack their buffs and then cancel the first 2 buffs (the eyes sometimes cast a weakness buff on you first)...
Spellcaster CAN cast when charmed
# Mar 01 2000 at 11:00 AM Rating: Decent
When people don't know much is that if you are a spellcaster and suddenly find yourself the pet of an Evil Eye you CAN STILL CAST! The only spell that will work though is the one you have memorized in the bottem spell slot - so keep your nukes and heal spells out of there <G> In Lower Guk the damn thing managed to charm me when I was level 39 and I would fire Lightning Strike off at anyone too close.
CHARM??!!?!?!?
# Mar 01 2000 at 11:00 AM Rating: Decent
I hear that these guys can charm the tanks in your group. Well can you imagine a well balanced group suddenly having their tanks turning on the casters! That will be chaos! I suggest haveing remove magic ready(casters) so that you can remove the spell casted on us tanks!
Not really sure if this is true though, just watch out.

very true that dispell magic will remove the charm but you need to make sure thay you invis so that its in your first spot --- get your buffs (not your own cuz once you cast it disappeares) and than hit the atk key to remove invis -- when this happens it leaves the first slot open for the charm and since dispell magic removes the first buff only -- thats where you want it to be
