The infectious spore trap version is still around and still nasty.

4/tick for forever. Infinite duration. I'm glad the alt I was playing was a cleric so I could cure it.

could a 22 bst kill him with pet or would i have to kill my pet to get him
RE: bst
# Oct 21 2004 at 4:29 PM Rating: Decent
I am now a 30 bst. I have horrific Magic resistance ( I have a -10 mr ring for example) and decent gear. These are cake, especially the un-named. Now this is the weird part, the dark blue named mobs are easier. These are green to me. However these are nuke happy.

The named (dark blues) use Mez, Knockback, root, choke (a dot, that seemed to do little to nothing) Mezmerization and Fear (chasing the moon line). They use nearly a full Chanter arsinal.

I have had the named blues mez me and my pet, then get somewhat far away, and forget about me. Weird stuff like that.

These mostly now are nuke happy. They nuke, and root. Like most Wizard types.

I sometimes lose about 30% health, off these, a green mob... thats with decent gear im outgrowing and poor Magic resistance.

Now the time for pops is short and the loot is pretty nice, and fairly common. I am on a PvP server, these Polished Bone Bracelets will sell nicely im sure. I feel a bit sick to think I ever bought them in my past, concidering ease to get and drop rate. If you can still get XP off these, and your not a twink, they would be great.

For fighting the ones in East Karana (enchanters) at your level, you may want to make your first attempt with no pet. Even around level 30 those buggers would charm my pet out from under me and I would be get nuked and beat on by the evil eye, it's pet and my pet. It wasn't pretty.

My Lvl 21 Monk Iksar killed one in a hand to hand fight.. it conned blue.. all of them do in the Gorge, even the pet. I never took one on with a pet though.. didnt want to push my odds. However the Eye Gave me Infectious spores... it only did 20 dmg.. and doesnt seem to have any other effect. I have been keeping my eye on it but it doesnt seem to go away nor have any other ill effects. just an annoying lil icon at this moment. If anyone has info on this disease let me know.

Lucy says it does 4 hp per tick, which for an Iksar is offset by natural healing so that it appears to do nothing. Lucy isn't sure what the duration is (says unlimited?), but it should be easy to get cured.

This post relates to the Evil Eyes that spawn in the Gorge of King Xorbb only. For an idea of their HPs, I randomly killed 10 of these from all over the zone. One on one, strictly melee damage, went as follows:

1 - 299
2 - 335
3 - 381
4 - 295
5 - 380
6 - 372
7 - 385
8 - 320
9 - 308
10 - 334

So they have on average 350 HPs, give or take about 50 depending upon level and or self buffs.

I believe this effect has been changed, If I remember correctly "Call of Bones" was originally a Life Tap. Yes, thats right, A cleric life tap. It eventually fell under the whole catagory that caster classes should not have a 'cross class' advantage. Meaning you can have a clickable, but it should be something from or similar to, your own line of spells. So it was changed to fear. However Melee classes can posess other effects.... giving them that missing edge I guess.

Made for wizzies
# Aug 27 2003 at 1:52 AM Rating: Decent
Evil Eyes are cake for wizzies once you get your force shock spell. I was lvl 24 and went with a lvl 30 ench. We synched our blasts (one force shock took it down over 50%) and killed it fast then rooted or mezzed pet before it suicided. Killed one on the side quick, then ran to the other side and killed it just when it popped. If you get it before it casts buffs and its pet, one force shock will kill it and you don't have to worry about the pet. After the fifth kill or so we got it down so the pet rarely popped. It's easily done by two wizs I'm sure but ench is better since they can cast breeze/clarity and also take care of any minotaur add-ons (they'll join in if they're nearby). Prob is this place is totally overcamped esp the eyes. We both got a set of polished bone hoops within half an hour (keep in mind we were killing 1 every 3 mins).

"Fought" Evil Eye for the first time and lived!
# Aug 07 2003 at 9:13 AM Rating: Decent
A weird thing happened in the Gorge today. After fighting a gorge minotaur and an aggro'd elder. I came out of the battle with 50% health. While casting minor healing on myself I noticed an evil eye and it's pet come rolling up the path toward the East Karana zone. Knowing the problems people have with them I chose to run. The pet caught me and attacked. Instinctively, I hit the attack button with myself still targeted. As I neared the zone line the evil eye charmed me and put another spell similar to strangle on my character. The evil eye then proceeded to make my character cast spell after spell, mostly Minor Healing on it and Burst of fire on me. Then the evil eye started to drag me back deeper into the gorge. When the strangle wore off I noticed that I now had 100% health! Next thing I know the Evil Eye and it's pet take off! Has this happened to anyone else or am I just extremely lucky?

If I charm a pet such as griffawns and send it after the EE can it override a charm and send it back to me or does the EE go right for me even if I go for the pet or not attack at all?

necros guide to killing the enchanter evil eyes
# Nov 13 2002 at 2:50 PM Rating: Decent
fear is your friend, fear it before it can charm.
1) Fear eye
2) Send Pet
3) low eye (engulfing darkness)
4) fear pet (should be able to get this off even when its hitting you)
5) dot and dd the hell out of the eye.
6) It's Dead, Repeat

When I was level 24 necro I owned these things, the main trick is to get it with a fear before it can charm. Because it can't cast when under fear **evil grin**
RE: necros guide to killing the enchanter evil eyes
# Mar 05 2003 at 10:46 AM Rating: Decent
OK. This sounds way easier than it is. I camped the EE throne room and tried attacking a variety of different ways. The throne room is shaped like a "T".
If you are at the bottom of the "T" of the throne, casting fear will make them run away and out of casting range. Pet follows and aggros anything along the way along with it. By the time you get back in range, your pet is being pound on by several creatures and the fear spell has worn off. Bad luck. You arrive, get charmed and the creatures pound you to death.

If you are at one of the top sides of the "T", you can manage to cast a darkness after the fear. Slightly better, but pet still aggros everything along the way. Still a good chance on getting charmed and pounded to death.

I've gotten killed a bunch of times by these suckers. I've gone from almost level 26 to low 25, but did manage to score one PBB. Lucky set of events. I will try a couple more ideas before giving up on these guys (at least for another couple levels). These guys WILL BE MINE! If I come upon the solution, will post here.

At any rate, the loot from the minos can be very good and averages for me about 10 pp per hour of play. The axes can be sold for about 3 PP each if your faction is good where you sell. Don't waste your time with the muddites unless you want clay or experience. At that, they hit hard and are relatively underconned. The muddite mud is next to worthless and they don't have any other significant loot.

Top Ten (non-PBB) Loot
# Jul 14 2002 at 1:55 PM Rating: Excellent
Yes, these drop the prized Polished Bone Bracelet (100pp, give or take). But what else? Here's my top ten, based on prices from the merchant. Your prices may vary.

10) Optic Nerves - 1.6pp
9) Silver Amulet - 2.0pp
8) Amber - 2.0pp
7) Jade - 2.9pp
6) Mithril Earring - 2.9pp
5) Pearl - 3.7pp
4) Jade Earring - 3.8pp
3) Topaz - 4.0pp
2) Ivory - 5.9pp

and the #1 non-PBB loot:
1) Flame Agate - 6.7pp

Also, there's a Polished Bone Hoop (+10 mana), which you can sell to lowbies for about 10pp or so.

We were pleasantly surprised that we earned so much plat while waiting for our PBBs. We made out like bandits. All these things drop fairly regularly. Good for jewelers, too! I recommend these for everyone, especially if you have someone who can stun, like a cleric.

Actually the Pbb only sales for about 25p now on the prexus server, since the opening of bazaar, and how would u rate those items like that, u put the jade earring which takes up a slot all by its self over a item that makes almost as much and is stackable, i spend hrs at a time pharming for the pbb's just to give to friends newbies or for charity and the only items i actually keep are the stackable drops for they are far more valuable, how bout this, ur number 10 item sales for 1.6 pp well i would gladly take a stack of them over ur number 4 item that would alone take up one spot by its self.. check out the high lv zones where i play they got some items that alone sale for 10+ pp but no one picks them up becasue of weight, space and nearest merchant is zones away, just becuase the item sales for a few more gold doesnt make it a more profitable item, if u fill ur packs up u gotta leave and sale, but if u only get stackable items u can stay lots longer, and make even more cash, for everytime u leave the zone its considered abonding ur camp, and will not be respected, i am alwayys going in to the hole to find out that there was someone there like 30 min ago but they left to sale and they come back with stuff like i was here first and all kinds of bs like they want it back, well thats my two cents

Pretty sure that Willow-wisps are their PHs. At least I kill all the wisps I find on tracking to hopefully get an EE to spawn.

I also think the Undead Reavers and possibly the Gnoll reavers are on their spawntable as well; I kill them too to try and make the EE's come out and play.

I love hunting the EEs!

I've only noticed one on track for the most part. I've been in EK for a week now. It generally roams from the way to Beholder towards Sir Morgan.. last night even crossed right along the road above Morgan.

I've only seen one on track however... more in beholder :)

Drop rate lowered?
# Feb 25 2002 at 10:12 PM Rating: Default
Heya all
Im a 37 druid the EEs are green to me so killing them is really not that hard, but I was curious, there was rumor that the drop rate of the PBB was lowered and I was just curious as to if this was true, camping them for a full day I only found one, though people say there loot sucks it does but most of what they drop sells for a plat and I have 53 char(halfling)Sure there loot dosnt look like much but the nerves sell for 1pp plus they drop gems some of which you can sell for 6pp
I found the best thing to do if your selling there stuff is to make a Highelf enchanter and put all your starting points into charisma, you will never actually play this character but you can use it to sell stuff if you want
I did that cause im a halfling
Anyways, I made about 350pp selling the stuff I looted
350pp in one day isnt that bad(sure I know kite HGs and make lots of money, there always camped)
Anywho
was just curious about the drop rate
easier in solo.

At lvl 24 (druid) i find them more managable in solo. The one time i tried with partner (lvl 24 warrior), he ended up hitting me to 20% of my life (my partner not the eye). When i solo them, they can charm me, or blind me or freeze me but they do almost no real damage (one bubble at the most before i take them down). And the loot is not bad.

I blast the eye with 2 or 3 careless lightning, then i take care of his pet with dismiss summoned.

Quick and painless.

Oh man ! /con black to me. Mist.

Well, I can't speak German, but I can translate some of this, because I had the same thing happen to me. First time I walked into Beholder's Maze, and was root/DoTing a chasm minotaur & some kind of muddite, when "an evil eye" ran up to me to fight some more. Apparently, it only had one HP, because as soon as it ran into barbcoat (AC buff w/2 pt DS), it blew up and left a DoT effect called "Infectious Spores". Later I read something somewhere about gas spores which masquerade as evil eyes that do this.

2 HP/5 sec sounds about right, which isn't TOO bad in that you can easily heal yourself to stay ahead of the damage, but it's a bothersome mana drain. The awful part was that 5 or 6 hours later (at least!), it was still running strong. And nothing I tried (as a 24 druid) would get rid of it -- cure disease, cure poison, cancel magic, no effect for any of them with repeated castings. I was so sick of it that I was just about to let myself die. Fortunately, a kindly lev 38 shaman in Halas tried counteract disease & counteract poison, and finally got rid of it. Who knows how long it would have run...
