Monk never even looked at me till Tempus died and I started whacking Tempus' Pet, and even then that's all he did... look at me.
59 Cleric, just exploring with a few lower level friends, killing everything in sight that looked crossways at us =P

I ran into Tempus today quite by accident. He's got a well hidden lair. Underwater room from the heart spiders on the way to lguk. Fall in the pit instead of crossing the plank, then swim around some underwater and you'll find the room.

Found this guy by going to the heart spiders, the ones that are further in, then going under water from there. The room that Tempus and the Skeletal Monk are in is just up out of the water. Loc Pos 760 Neg 30 Neg 150 no faction hit for killing Tempus or the monk. Spawn time for both seems to be 17 minutes. Kill Tempus first or he will assist the monk.

While Tempus may help the monk it doesn't go the other way around I think. I hit Tempus with a nuke from the water and the monk just stood there. So attack Tempus first is the moral of the story (or charm him if you have the power). But beware, read on...
I attacked Tempus the first time I came to this spot just to get the monk's mask for my chanter. I was just a 35 mage at the time soloing in Upper Guk and figured no sweat even if both of them came at me and Bob (all pets are Bob to me), they were both green. Well, like a dolt, I forgot to make sure that Bob was around because you never knowing when pathing issues will get you killed as a class that requires having pets around to solo and your pet is lost. My bad, but still, I should have won anyway being 10 levels higher.
Tempus hits like an SK, don't let the fact he may be a necro fool you. He's a mob caster after all and gods forbid they should play by the same rules as me. He was punching me for 50 points a pop and his pet was doing 20 or so. I got like 2 spells off and had him half dead when bob finally found his way to me all too late. I died in the water. /sigh. Man that's a long CR from NK.
Oh well, I'm 40 now. I have the Summon Companion spell now so I'll make sure Bob will right by my side when I go to nuke that punk. Tonight's the night the lights went out (multiple times) for old Tempus...

I saw someone else post he doesn't have any faction hit, but that is odd since he /con's Warmly to Dark Elf Worshiper of Solusek Ro (Wizard). Like others mentioned, he dies from the healing spell he casts on the monk... The strange thing is I don't think I /con warmly to any Neriak factions... Well, maybe the Dead after killing all those High Elf Wizards in Nektulos, hehe!

WAs with a friend to kill the monk...and we did, no mask si was sat down for pop... after a while I saw tempus hp go down and all of a sudden...tempus died... we never hitted him...very strange

Back in steamfont.. there is a evil gnome called Megrath right? he is about level 35-40... us i have a level 37 gnome necro...what i don't like that he can ALSO be a tank. all caster npc have the abilities of a warrior... meldrath pierces YOU for 71 points of damage... be aware who u are coming against when u fight casters with pets.. it's not such a good idea to fight them... since the caster npc have lots of hp and the pet too.. i prefer you get a group to kill meldrath or can kill it with your level 59 pet.. :P... i don't think i could win a duel with an npc necro with pet... i will lose...

I got bored and went to Steamfont yesterday...ah...that pet has 700 hps, if that, and Meldrath has around 2500. If you go in invis. and nuke them both with an AE you can just pull them out, hit them again pet is gone, then just root...blah blah with Meldrath. He casts, but damaged varied from 8 (Hahaha) to 120, typically closer to 8.

Tempus has no faction hit, no coin, no loot. His pet died when I killed Tempus. He was dubious to my Tree Elf druid (the skeleton monk is indifferent)

Lvl 27 Wiz and Lvl 31 Wiz attempted to take them down for the Acumen Mask quest. We got killed in about 4 seconds. Tempus is one tough nut!

I am a Level 27 wizard and would like to get the glowing mask for a quest.... would it be possible to kill this guy, and the monk with a warrior with me to tank? Or will i need a group?

Hehe, just ask a fellow chanter to solo the place.
I just did it at 28 for my quest twice (no mask first time). Mezz the place, charm Tempus and he does the dirty job for you, monk is no match to him :).

You might want to invest in a healer. It also depends on the warrior's level and equipment, though.

And anyway don't forget, D&D was first, so there are going to be simalarities in any game of this genre. Magic, EQ, and any other fantasy, dungeon related game.
Tempus is a Forgotten Realms (D&D world and book series) god if I'm not mistaken.

Obviously these people do. You know, there are people who like to argue over these things. I know I do, I'm interested in this stuff. Then there are people who like to run around in games, calling people 'n00bs' and and saying 'my dr00d is l33t'. Those are the kind of people who use to many capitol letters and exclamation marks and question marks. Though I do admit, the fact that the name is from DnD matter little...

As a 36 Druid, I came down here to grab the Glowing Mask from the Monk (he spawns right next to Tempus and his pet). I forget what these 3 conned to me(scowled, indifferent, etc), but none of them attacked. Not sure if the necro would jump in when I attacked the monk, I damage shield myself first, and Rooted the Monk. Sure enough, the necro and pet start attacking. Nuked the Necro repeatedly, and he died pretty fast. He feared me(The stun fear) a couple of times, and did the usual necro stuff, but the fight wasn't very close. I probably got lucky in that my Root on the Monk held throughout the whole fight between Tempus and his pet. After those 2 died, I healed and just killed the monk with DoT's, nukes and damage shield. The necro pet didnt drop anything at all, and the necro dropped nothing of importance. Maybe a bronze sword or something.

He's pretty far into the live side of Guk. I found him after I fell into the water near the stone/cliff bridge. He is accompanied by a pet and a Skeleton Monk.

Apparently this is a Dark Elf who can be found in a secret room near the pit with Heart Spiders.
