I was able to get this thing to spawn and I am positive there was no a_large_skunk just a_skunk. He spawned towards the top of the map. took about 15 minutes of druid tracking and killing all a_skunk. Never even saw a_large_skunk.
Run to the northern section of Toxx and stay north of the river (the Erudin newbie area) and kill all (and only) "a skunk" on track.
After awhile only 1 "a skunk" will be up, which once killed will respawn every 15-20 seconds or so at different locations, I found it at the following:
Finally, after about an hour camping the 15 second "a skunk", the reeking spawned, which I found wandering at: 1356.12, -406.19, 90.92
I did try slaughtering everything around the PoK book and the druid rings for awhile but Luthair's approach appeared to work, unless the NPC guards killed the other PH for me.
Got him to spawn after killing all over the place saw him spawn @ 972 -604 120 on the spot I had killed a previous skunk because the corpse was still there.
Im just gonna take a stab in the dark here but it seems Reeking Skunk is most likely thrown in with the newby mobs spawn cycle. Since ive seen the numbers of skunks increase as I killed trash mobs I'm gonna guess that Reeking Skunk can spawn in place of any noob yard mobs at any of those spawn points. Not a certain spawn point. Best advice, do what Im doing... load up a buncha bards and park them on mob spawn points playing AE songs while you run around killing everything you see.
If you happen to be the only person in the zone, using a tracker only kill 'a skunk' (or 'a large skunk' if you see one, I didn't), they share a table with other animals so shortly only one will be up. The PH is (in my experience) always 'a skunk' with a respawn of 15-20 seconds.
I agree with this post. Tried some different approaches with no luck and ended up plainly killing all skunks on track. No one else was killing anything in zone, and after a while there was just one "a skunk" that kept re-popping quickly when killed.
# When "Reeking Skunk" spawned, "a skunk" stopped appearing.
# When Reeking Skunk was killed, "a skunk" started doing its merry re-pop dance again.
Never saw "a large skunk" or similar on track, but I guess it might be part of the spawn table too.
After zerker got his drop, I went on to kill maybe 5-10 more of the lonely "a skunk", and within maybe 15 min had another Reeking up.
Ok I have to agree, I stopped killing skunks and killed everything but skunks, and with in 45 minutes I had the Reeking Skunk Pop, never saw a large skunk. This was after 3 different sessions of an hour+ of killing skunks. I just worked the North East area around PoK book to Eurdine, the Reeking seem to spawn South of the Eurdin zone in. I had my ranger just bow mobs and I went target kill target kill, everything but skunks. Seem to be the best way to get this thing to pop. Hope this helps.
I made these observations while attempting to spawn the Reeking Skunk.
First: I hunted down regular skunks. No luck. Time to change gears.
Second: I killed mobs all around the entrance to Erudin and the book to the Plane of Knowledge, as well as over by Sentinel Creot and the Druid rings. My goal was to spawn MORE SKUNKS. So, I left the regular a skunk alive and continued to run around killing the mobs.
Third: On Bard track I noticed a large skunk had spawned. I knew this had to be important. So I killed it. (That's a natural and healthy reaction.) It immediately respawned another large skunk. Killed that. POP!!!
I used the Bard song "High Sun" to find the location for that particular spawn @ 826.29, -885.56
Final Observations:Leaving the skunks up allowed me to move on from the "incorrect" NPCs and onto the actual place holder(s). I hope any of this information is found to be useful. :)
Ok, well from what I can tell, killing skunks PROBABLY spawns him, but the first time i killed him, he spawned a skelly, second time, a spiderling. I dunno. Skunks are random from anything, and they must be in the zone; he must spawn from a skunk... i guess
Easy to solo him, really, just keep in mind that he is immune to changes in his run speed.
My 50 druid soloed him easy, with Drifting Death, Drones of Doom and a few Starfires. Had a few k hp, 750-pt nuke brought him down about 15%. Saw him near the ent to Erudin. She just kited it with sow, was pretty easy, but when it hit her, it hit fairly hard. She had KEI and Virt on. Piece of cheesecake.
i was running from erudin to paineel and ran into this guy, conned indeffrent and dk blue... so i was forced to kill him, 47 pally, with virt and self brells i had 4.7k hp, also had kei but didn't need it. i even forgot to give myself haste before staring but i killed him fine without. i used lay hands but proably could have gotten away without. ended fight with 45%hp and 80%mana. was immune to stun and root.
Just did him for my baby Berserker's epic with a 53 Bard. Low HP, doesn't summon, very easy mob.

He conned DB to my lvl 46 Pally, I was pretty well buffed and was soloing.....or was I?? I think he was soloing me....was immune to Holy Might. He took me down to 18% and he was still at about 80%. I used my LOH...and he took me down again to 38% before I booked it outta there. Was hitting me with dual attacks of 85, 65...and a few 113's.
Found between Emil and druid ring. Conned DB to my 56 Ogre Berserker and indifferent. I had just lost virtue and had 3700 hp and 1100 AC. I used Edge of Envelopement and attacked. Stunned with Head Strike and Frenzied. I had 29 percent health when skunk died. I used my hit every time disc and Battle Cry. Harder than Gnashing Kobold but no problem. Dropped my epic piece Scent Gland. Total time in Toxx was about 10 minutes. Fight about 2 minutes.
It conned indifferent to both an ogre warrior and a wood elf druid so I imagine its simply non-kos to all. Took it down with the afformentioned pair when we were both level 33, just to see if we could. You can't snare it(you get an immune message) but its easy enough to aggro kite around with SoW.

Conned dubious to my 52 barb warrior, was hittin too hard so i jokingly shouted "train to erudin" even though he (**the skunk) is not kos to players. a 65 chanter happened to be there, and of course most people go stark raving mad when they see a named mob, so i zoned in and out of erudin to clear aggro, and there's the skunk wailing on the chanter while she was desperately trying to nuke it to death, most likely drooling in jittery anticipation at the phat lootz she thought she was going to nab. the mob and the enc's health stayed about equal, and i think the chanter actually won with 4% health. I briefly considered helping but figured the bloodthirsty freak would petition and spread bad word about me, so i just sat and watched lol i wish i could have witnessed IRL her reaction to the spoils of her victory =)
Hello - This mob IMHO does not belong here. However I have have tracking info for those wanting to find him for the Beserker Epic...
He travels from Emil (Merchant near Eru entrance - seen him just south of here many times) to PoK book or Tran (Merchant) - I have also seen him around the Druid Circle slightly north. He normally can be found within those borders on the map. I soloed him at lvl 52 as wiz, he conned dark blue. It took my best spell (ice comet) 5 casts at 1100 - 1300 to get him down to 4% hp. As said before in other posts, he resists snare and slow spells. He hits quickly with 4-5 attacks and sometimes hits for 136+ per pop. I did not know he was epic at the time or would have offered the scent gland to someone else. GL with this mob and beware newbies near Eru zone.
Logged in my 50 druid. And there he was standing by the merchant's hut. He was huge. For a moment I thought he was a ROUS (Rodent of unusual size), like when the wolves were all huge all over Norath. Nope, he was named. I was geared for 222 wisdom (with my sleeves). Hes not exactly an easy fight for a 50 druid, or maybe I play wrong? I was sowed and skinned. I first tried snare, silly me. Immune to snare and root. ok. Ran around like an idiot. What makes him paticularly nasty is he would get to me before any spells finnished. The only dot that landed before he got to me was immoliate. I had full mana before this. I dotted the hell out of him. The final sliver I had of mana for the last DoT, went instead to a very nervous SoW. At one point, I ran away to memorize 'terrorize animal'. I think I ran far enough to lose agro. He started gaining life fast. Tracked him down. dotted, and so on. By the end I had about 23% health and 2% mana. He was just very persistant. Chased me to the end, and perma sow'ed. He never slowed down. He is not an 'animal' I guess hes a freaking Monster!
I am still a bit new to what my druid can do at times. As long as its not a caster and my spells land, I am still amazed. I actually was teased by some when I exclaimed I had killed him? He was not full on easy. Id assume resistant to slow from what I read here, and maybe fear? He resisted my 'lightning blast' also.
I too felt bad learning he was for Zerker epic, after looting the gland.
Conned db to my 49 shaman, was there killing skeletal commanders when a ranger had this on track. Maybe overkill, but 65 cleric, 49 shaman, 51 ranger took it down. It was immune to my slow too.

Went into Toxx on the Erudin side with my 55 Necro, looking for some collectors scent gland. Didn't pay too much attention at first, saw a pretty large skunk and put my pet on it (after being frustrated that I hadn't been getting any collectors glands from skunks) ... after I saw my pets health drop a little, I realized the mob was a dark blue con at 55... thought to myself "hmmmmmmmmm" probably shoulda payed attention to that right away... lol. Anyway, it resists movement spells, but DoTs took it down pretty fast. Feel kinda bad now that I know the scent gland is for berserker epic =(... but I did get my collector scent gland from it =)
Well, upon zoning into Toxxulia Forest at the PoK book for Erudin, I saw the Reeking Skunk wandering past. I was there to help my hubby get his collector's skunk scent gland for the firework stick quest, and he was low level. Instead of him being attacked by this mob...I decided to kill it myself. Was an easy kill for a level 65 enchanter with pet. Unfortunately, I didn't realize it was for the berserker epic at the time, otherwise I would have left it alone. :(

Took a long time to spawn this fellah. Killing skunks on Erudine side for about 3 hours until he popped, and i had a ranger friend tracking. He roamed from Emil to druid ring and i found him when he was pathing in front of Erudine entrance. Conned light blue to me at 61, and was indifferent until i attacked. Hit for 137 tho, so i recon hes undercon.
Also dropped a Collector's Skunk Scent Gland which is for the 5th anniversary firework staff.
killed him last night just out of curiosty (and desperation looking for collectors skunk glands), he was not hard for a (gimped, half my stuff including haste item now on my new monk main)61 erudite paladin. Also note that to me he conned indifferent.
I killed this thing just to allow some of the newbies to wonder around freely for a bit. A level 55 shaman with pet you can easily kill it, it can be blinded. Just send the pet in with out taunting, dot it with envenomed bolt, and plague. It will die quickly.
This mob needs to be moved to a more appropriate zone. Toxx is the newbie levelling zone for Erudites and this highly aggressive mob attacks everyone on sight, making things difficult for lowbies trying to level. I think that the Hole would be a much more suitable place for this to spawn.

I agree this mob needs to be moved. Zoned in from PoK in response from a newbie to assist with a CR. My then 42 Druid was instantly attacked..... 3 bites and i was skunks dinner (and i lost my level). Didnt even get chance to see what was attacking me. Read my log files to get the name which i looked up on here. I think this is most inappropiate for a newbie zone.

PH is "a skunk." I killed nothing but skunks for a couple hours. I killed from the druid rings all the way up the the NW part of zone. Around location pos 1740, pos485 is where I found the Reeking skunk. It looks like its spawn point will be somewhere up in that area, but then it roams. Also Brenlo was goign to tell the Developers about moving this mob, becuase it is a high level mob killing people in a newbie area. As of 3/5/05 there reeking skunk is still spawning there, i just got him to spawn right before this post. I used my 46 berserker, 65 cleric, and 59 druid, it was over kill, fight lasted 2 minutes if that.
My NEWLY level 15 Warrior, returning to Erudin, flush from recent triumph and leveling in the Warrens, gets hit by this thing. One Hit. Dead. What is the point in having an uber mob in a lowbie area? Daily server crashes aren't pissing people off enough?

my friend who's a 52 druid was silk farming in Tox and this skunk attacked. took her down to 24% life in nothing flat. as usual, snare & root don't stick. she came back out to kill him and a pally was down to 37% taking him down. so she healed. he's not to hard to avoid, just a PITB.
This is sort of annoying to be running around a newbie zone... this mob totally destroyed my level 2 erudite cleric very quickly, even with Natureskin and HoS on (+600 hp). It would be one thing if it was indiff, but it's not. it's KOS to newb erudites.
Nice zone design... why not "revamp" Toxx now as a 50+ zone? I guess it would make sense since everybody powerlevels in Shadeweaver anyway.

The game wife checked this out. She is a 55 shaman. As already mentioned, skunk is immune to slow, root, and snare.
It roams around the "good" side of Tox, especially around the druid ring. It is larger than a normal skunk, but not huge. More like wolf or bear cub size. No spell attacks, pure melee only with bites/hits ranging from 18 to 148.
Poison spells both DD and DoT hit nicely and easily and were the way to go.
A friend of hers, a 45 druid reports that the skunk cons even at 45.
BTW, dropped no coin and only an "assumed to be berserker epic drop" scent gland, which was No Drop, Lore, Magic.

... is aggro, like another poster said, pretty normal range, light blue to 65. Immune to slow, so straight melee'd it solo as an elemental-equipt bard lvl 65, took me down 13% life so not too tough. No procs or otherwise special attacks were cast or landed against me, so assume it is a warrior mob or (duh) berserker.
Max hit was 136, but only 4 hits that landed on me were over 100 (AC 1502 ID5, LR5, CS3, CA3) most hits were in the 20-30 range
This thing looks like a huge skunk. It scowled at my ranger and my enchanter. It has a pretty normal agro range and runs at a normal speed. The max hit he did on my ranger was 136. It conned yellow at 44, so its level was 45 or 46. Snare does not work, and when I tried to "Panic Animal" (animal fear), it didn't work, so this skunk isn't an animal. As for his hit points, he's about as hard to melee as a Sentry of Justice in PoJ, so I'm guessing their hit points are similar.
Is this mob aggro? Regular skunks are not, correct?
