Noc Darklurch thoughts
# Mar 04 2004 at 9:18 AM Rating: Decent
Most aspects of fighting these have been covered. They certainly are fast. Most mobs won't keep up with my drogmor.

What startled me was their burst dps. I had a 65 mage using air pet. My first fight, pet had about 90% health after two rounds. Then, Shazam! Down to 38%.

I'd advise a soloing mage to keep 60 & 64 heals loaded. A few times, I did have to chain them.

They do flee at 20% health.

And, I swear, the lightblue ones were always ALWAYS tougher than the darkblues. Everytime I had to burn Mend Companion to keep Fluffy up, it was a lightblue.

Oh. I killed these in the tower on the south side of the island in Natimbi for at least 3 hours without a bloody drop. (other than junk/words) I'll not be doing that again.

The reason you're seeing high burst damage is because they have a proc that's ranges from around 490 to 520 on me. A couple of those in a row can hurt a pet a little.

As for drops, you need to get the named (Kyv Heartpiercer, a named in Natimbi, common in other zones) to pop. The noc darklurches seem to be placeholders for him. He'll always drop an item or a spell.

I've found the Heartpiercer on the platform over the turtle pond, but I've heard he can pop anywhere a noc darklurch pops.

Me (54magi) and a 52shammy got jumped by one of these guys. Fairly difficult fight, kept aggroing shammy and i had to chain about 4 51 earthies to take him down. By end of fight both of us were nearly oom. Has a pretty weak dot.
Easily Fear Kited

Took my 65 SK out to check out GoD for the 1st time the other night. I ws hesitant to go after these guys at first, but, as it turns out they're not so tough when you're hitting 'em in the back. They move pretty quick and do seem to warp if you get too far away from 'em. After a couple of trial runs my pet and I were tearing these guys down with a minimum of effort. Level 49 Invoke Fear stuck every time, fire based DoT stuck as well as Asystole and Darkness. Averaged 2% AA xp per kill at 100%.
Super Fast?

I kited a few of these, sometimes watching them, other times just turn-tail and running at full 65 bard speed. It doesn't look like they necessarily run as fast as a bard, but they seem to shadowstep or warp to reach you now and then. Could just be a client-lag issue, I don't know.

I usually pulled these guys back to the flat area across the river from the way camp. There I'd just run a large full-speed circle while chant kiting, and they usually wouldn't hit me. If they are warping, then perhaps they only warp in straight lines and I was running a curve. Or so it seemed.
easy to solo
# Feb 16 2004 at 7:07 PM Rating: Decent
im a 65 shaman and soloing these things is pretty easy, Root, Malo, Slow, Breath, Bane, and Saryn. Wash repeat if nessacary.. get about 3 ticks AA get diamond drops about every 3rd one. not to bad for killing time while the rest of the party gets there or LFGing
Way Fast

This one out ran a lvl 51 bard; but even tho we lost the bard; me (56 cleric), a 58 warrior, 58 druid were able to take it down with not much hassle. It took 2 CH's, a Mark of Retribution, and a Mark of Karn, not sure what the druid casted; but I kept the warrior alive with just those 4 casts...not too bad. BTW; warrior was only buffed with temperance and SoW.

Drops Broken Noc Fang, and various research and tradeskill stuff. Like most of the mobs in the zone.

Just confirming - yes they do indeed drop 'Broken Noc Fang' and as I got 2 in only 5 kills, it seems not uncommonly so. No info as of yet what these fangs are for, sorry.
I also got some "Dented Shoulderguards" from one, but again - no info yet as to what they are for.
I did get a diamond off the second one I killed. However, as I have only killed a handfull so far, I won't go so far as to declare these good farming fodder.

Fast
# Feb 12 2004 at 1:18 AM Rating: Decent
This things run super fast I had a sow on and it caught up with me no problem. Resisted my snare, not sure if completely resistant though, only spell I had time to cast on it before it turned me into a bloody chunk of meat.

Proc a 600dd fairly often if you don't cripple them. hit for about 560max
RE: Formiddable
# Jul 29 2004 at 5:57 AM Rating: Decent
The Proc hit me for a consistent 560 and max hit is like 250ish (1350AC) if I remember correctly. Not that difficult but they do nuke alot.
