As stated here in other posts these do drop calcified bones, and a wide range of them. The best place to find them is south of the bridge in Nektulos Forrest, or even better the south east section where there is ruin, where greater and calcified skellies spawn on a regular basis. Trouble with this camp is that they can spawn Lesser Mummies whic can be slightly harder then the other mobs. If you feel you'd like to save your health for the skellies, throw or shoot an arrow there way or cast the spell you got from the tutorial, then run back to the guards at the bridge and let them deal with the mummies.
Actually, some calcified bone parts (nodrops for newbie armor quests) drop off of these greater skeletons. Just had a calcified sternum (sk breastplate) drop today...very rare drop! Yay!
I've read several posts that Calcified Bones drop off these guys. Is this true? To my knowledge and experience Calcified Bones only drop off of Calcified Skellys.. Kuwargod
This place is great!! I have my 49 Pally wife helping me (16 ranger) whenever I need to kill a few garg's. she sits on top of the island and kills spectre's for exp (and 1/2 way decent loot actually), and I sit around killing skelies and an occasional garg. granted, I need her heals, but sheesh, almost a full yellow for killing gargs!! Usually she kills all the gargs and leaves one for me....lol then I go back to killing skellies.

I've see these guys drop all sorts of things. Mostly armor but I found a +3 STR sword wepon on one of them. I sold it for 20pp. They have great loot some times.
Tip for when you're hunting the skellys, make sure that someone else is hunting the gargs, otherwise, once you've killed too many skellys, there will only be gargs up on the island, and if you cant take them, you've run out of things to hunt :) The spawns on the undead isle in OOT work on a random basis where either a garg or a skelly will spawn, more likely a skelly, but if you keep killing skellys, you'll run out soon :) Most players have the opposite problem, where they have too many skellys and not enough gargs to hunt, simple solution for this one, leave at least one garg up on the isle at all times, and he will kill all the skellys for you, and you'll have lots of gargs np :)
These are great for lvl 12ish groups or pet-caster solos as they are non-agro. You have to get their attention. (those near enough to see this will join in of course) They loot average for their kind but the ones in OOT occasionally have Parrying Daggers. (no bone chips from these guys) Just stay away from the spectres and the gargoyles.
