85 SK pet camped this while watching t.v. I set an audio trigger for "failed." I was parked at the entrance by the water fountain, which turned out to be the opposite entrance from where he spawned. However, upon spawning, he buffs himself. "failed crypt raider beings to cast a spell" was still within range to set off my AT.

well his PH is a skeletal minion spawns point is south entrince of the library and if u agro him then FD he will Despawn once u lose agro

On Al'Kabor, the failed crypt raider does not spawn in a static location. The PH for him is one of the roaming mobs that walks within and around the library.
Please don't make the same mistake as I, and only camp the 1 static spawn near the south staircase outside the library, as mentioned in the post above.
Also, the re-spawns on these mobs are around 20 minutes.

I ran down and FD'd in the library, while I was waiting for mend and the train to leave he despawned.
Along with the ancient coin, the illegible scroll, he dropped
a fine steel morning star, and
a tattered note . . .
"I have found one more of the scrolls and have learned the final three were en route to be rescribed in some ancient city called Torsis. When I find them I shall see that the final four are rejoined in my masters realm."

Hello all. I also encounted this mob wandering around inside the library. I was the only one in the zone at the time. I had not killed any mobs in the area, he was just there so I'm not sure on the PH's. However, he con'd even to my 34th level Cleric so the level 39 from above is off. Just an FYI post.

Spawned him at front "entrance" to library after one clear. Had scroll, note, ancient coin, and the spear pictured (can't remember name, but its a crappy shammy only with a stun proc of all things).
Dropped A Tattered Note for me too as well as Research Notes - Part 2.

Was looking for part of VP key when all of a sudden this guy walks by. Being level 65 I promptly owned him and he dropped some FS wep, the coin, and illegible scroll, and a tattered note. Right clicking on the note shows the following:

Well, I camped the Failed Crypt Raider today (Nov 1, 2003). He spawned inside the library near the back entrance. I just cleared the library once or twice (and surrounding areas for good measure), and he popped. Anyway, clearing the bottom floor of the library worked for me.

I kept coming here looking for information on him.
Oh well, I finally got him so let me be the first to shed some info about him.
I camped him for about 10 nights; not consecutive nights but off and on for awhile, for roughly 3 to 4 hours a night...
He finally showed up for me last week.
I had been keeping all of the interior of the Library clean of spawns.
When I could be there with a friend or two I kept the entire Library area clean.
I had heard rumors that the A Tome Keeper could be a PH for him, but he never spawned there.
When he spawned, a cleric friend and I were sitting on the upstairs wall over looking the downstairs while facing the end where the Tome Keeper spawns...
She and I had just finished discussing whether or not this guy actually existed and she went AFK for a few minutes... I looked over at my other computer screen to look something up... looked back and there he was!
He was on the first floor, and was walking into the Library from the back (must have come in from near the fountain) and he was walking past the area where the Librarians spawn and heading towards the front.
I jumped down and attacked him, then pulled him upstairs to near where my Cleric friend was, and pulled him over towards a bookcase to get a good Screen Shot of him.
I managed to get a good picture and sent it in, but it would appear that someone has already beat me to it, hehe.

Just spawned for me 10-14-03 and also dropped an ancient coin and tattered note. After clearing library about 30 times he appeared at the rear of the building (last spawn before exit of building) did not appear to be a ph since i saw a few spawn in his place and roam from front to back of library. Loc was exactly neg136 pos433 only seen him once in the past 10 hours of camping... now spawn you spectral librarian, i need epic :P
