Killed him with 65 shm, 65 rng, 65 mnk and Tank, Healer, DPS merc. I had tried him the past but didn't do so well because of the AE. This time, Shaman dropped Call of the ancients AA on the floor to take care of the AE and kept Spirit of the Leopard on melees. I also had circle of summer on but I'm not sure if that helped. No problem, I expected a longer fight. Milas' HP parsed at 200173 and fight lasted just under 3 minutes. Dropped:

Ok, right after I killed him, I went down and killed a couple of phantoms. To my surprise Milas was on track again. Sure enough, the sentence triggered him and I killed him again. This time he dropped:

Interesting, he keeps spawning. Perhaps that's normal and explains why he's always up when no other nameds are.
I tried him without Call of the Ancients AA and I could definitely feel the need but was in no real danger. Cleric Merc ended almost OOM and shaman had to throw some heals to keep the party up. Call of the Ancients AA was definitely worth it :)

my girlfriend and i jus duo'd this target 9/6/07dropped the ancient battlehammer and fistwraps, gratz to my 55 warr! was a long fight i tanked with my druid lvl 75 750 aa 1850 ac 11.5k hp my girl 75 shaman with 10k mana was a long fight i stuck to fire/attack/ac debuffs and a few small dots and used my proc weapons and ds she was unable to land a slow even with the tss shaman bp clicky so she kep canni and kept me healed and used mostly her pet for dps took us 20 min or so, was great to be able to do with no tank!
Just fought him today. he is L70 not L68 as noted here at the time of this post.

he is conning dark blue to me right now at level 70. Maybe it's a range lke 67 - 70 .
just triggered him, was even con to me at lvl 70.
the one you speak of must be the gnome version, it is dark blue at lvl 70.

Are the memoirs actually used for a quest, or is it an error that Illia lists it as a quest item, when it is the book that is used for the helm / arm clickie quests?

Just get 2 groups, maybe less.
Make sure you have cleric in each, ae will eat you if you dont.
Fight pretty easy, hits for 450 max.

The DoT is a cold based AE which seems to have at least a 250 resist check even though the spell info says 150.
Using the wall in the hallway before the library room to block the AE (a la Dozekar) is the best way I have found to kill him while keeping healers alive and only healing the MA.

This mob starts out as an indifferent con gnome. Talking to him produces a series of text in which he tells you about how he came to die in Sleeper's Tomb. A previous NPC (Jonas Levellen) also tells a story in which he mentions this gnome, and identifies him as not really being a gnome, but "an undead spirit" that killed Jonas in turn.
The last paragraph of text the gnome says ends in a sentence about "don't tell me you're really here to see the Ancients" or something close to that. Telling the gnome "I am here to see the Ancients" then causes him to turn into the KOS wyvern pictured above.
He does a nasty cold based dot that does something like 600 damage a tick for 6 ticks. Managed to Escape successfully when we were wiping to him but then the dot ate me, bah.
