I snared him first, then cast Immolate and Swarm of Pain as he approached. As I kited him, I soon learned that he is a summoner. I tried to melee him, but he had the upper hand, even with my healing potions and the fact that I successfully disarmed him. So, I simply kited. When he summoned, I just started kiting all over again, nuking as soon as I recovered them. I didn't melee again until he started to flee.

As for the spell not being much use, well, as one who plans on staying at level 51, collecting AAs until my epic is completed, I'd say it's VERY useful.

I know why I can't get any Gallantry! It's just because I'm a Dark Elf, isn't it? Yeah, I see how you all are! "No buffs for the Inkies," right? "Dark Elves are all evil!" "Dark Elves smell funny!" Well, we do not smell funny! I've smelled Dark Elves all my life and it's nothing to laugh at!

This fella is very very hard, what makes it worst is the Summon he has.

This is what got me initally I was sat medding with a friend who came along to help me destroy him when I was summoned someway in EK, I ran backwards sticking arrows into him but if you got to far you were summoned and slash for 120.

Also for some reason his kick has an extremely long rang.

I died, but luckly while the head was NO TRADE the spell wasn't.
Take a couple of High Lvl friends to take him down.

Tracked right to him after the turn in. I intercepted him at -2350, -590 but he was headed south.

Vance hit upward of 120, summons, and flees. Entrap landed on him first time, and I didn't use any other spells on him.
Just got him

A friend (Yoge) and I recently spawned and killed this guy for the Call of Flames quest. The faction hits were as follows:

Vance Bearstalker has been slain by Yoge!
Your faction standing with Karana Bandits got worse.
Your faction standing with Karana Residents got better.
Your faction standing with Guards of Qeynos got better.
Your faction standing with Highpass Guards got better.
Your faction standing with Circle Of Unseen Hands got better.

So presumably he is on the Karana Bandits faction.

Well, I didn't know what to expect. So I took a small group consisting of myself (52 Ranger), a 57 Ranger, 65 Warrior, and a 65 Shammy. Did the turn in, and tracked him. He dropped faster than a training bra at a N'Sync concert. Got the drop, did the turn in, and now I have the spell. Thank you SOE for putting a lame quest for a 49th level spell that I couldn't start until I was a level 50.
Just killed him today

Good luck

Had way to large a group for this but hey ho - I had noidea how tough he was. Once you have done all the other bits ( the fangs are annoying but you wil get some wreaths to help with costs - the caitliff is an absolute nightmare as he takes ages to spawn but does have a ph on the stairs - the sash took me 15 minutes to get with a friend - the ring is an annoying camp but they are sold regularly so just buy it ) .
Rememeber this spell isnt much use but .... its a ranger thing to get it ok :)
Group
2 52 rangers 50 druid 65 wizzie 65 chanter 56 druid.

I reckon a 52 ranger and a cleric/ druid could drop him easily .. snare sticks dots stick and he hits like a pansy ( 60 or 70 double - on 1200 chain ac ) I think we also slowed him so he doesnt seem to have any of the epic type immunities - altough he does summon
Well, here's a little info anyway.

After spending about a week in Mistmoore to get the Electrum Bladed Wakizashi, I was able to get the adamantite band and the burnt sash in the Bazaar, and it took me less than an hour to run around and do the gift part of the quest. Now to the point. He went down fairly easy with a 62 DRU, a 59 RNG, a 59 WAR, a 52 bard, a 50 RNG, and a 44 WIZ (first time for our guild, we were prepared for the worst). My first snare stuck on him, and he was straight melee. I suspect if necessary, he could be kited or root'n'rot'n'shoot'd.
