  • This mob spawns at +8, -516.

You say, 'Hail, a crazed miner '

A crazed miner looks at you, eyes gleaming with insanity. 'Keep your voice down! The trolls might hear you, and then they'll take my shoes away again. Do you have any idea what it's like to walk around with out shoes! DO YOU!?!?' He then goes back to staring at the wall and mumbling something about a dancing panda.

I posted a picture of the human quest NPC, loc +8, -516. He is in the same zone and cons the same level as the other crazed miners, but the other crazed miners will not substitute for him as quest NPC's.

Quest NPC?

What do you mean "HUMAN?" crazed miner, lol. All NPC's seem to look the same to a blood crazed Vah Shiir Warrior on a pulling rampage. At least they did to my lvl 55 warrior the other night. I was three boxing warrior, chanter, and cleric feeding keys to the little resistance miners and gathering quest items for my chanter when I accidently pulled this guy to camp. It was a looooonnnnnggggggg fight, but after 20 minutes of playing with him I got bored and had chanter mezz and memblur him and stepped out of agro range and con him, only then did I realize he conned indif. But, now I know where to find him for when my bard does his spell quest.

My only question here is does he have to be in spawn position for turn in?

As said earlier, one of the "A crazed miner" is actually a quest NPC, or so..

He conned indiff, as opposed to rest of em that is scowling.

Here is what he said when hailed

Duo

100k+ hp version duo'd by a necro and a druid, both 65 and potime equipped. I was boxing them both, Initially was using dplague, splurt, night fire, blood of thule, and horror all together. Thats ~1339 a tick. (Averaged splurt to ~101, which is its average over the whole duration of the dot - assuming no focus) {[(191-11)/2] + 11 = 101} Anyway, after spending 70m and dropping the mob to 70%hp I went for efficiency, using dplague, splurt, night fire, and fpok which is ~835 a tick. With the druid dotting here and there with epic and Swarming Death while Child/Bert tanked with damage shield, this fight took half an hour.... On the bright side, pet (with MoE focus and 9s/regen) only needed a CH about every 3 minutes. Wont be doing that again any time soon

Well i can tell you the quest version definalty has way more than 100k hp.We tripped over him last night and the SK pulled him. I have headshot with my ranger, over the course of the battle it landed FOUR times for 32K each time, And it still took us about 15 min. to take him down. Probably in the neibourhood of 250K HP's.

i ran acrossed this quest version i guess and to give a more accurate account of HP's... 65000 damage put him at 70% on the nose. he took 2 hits at 65000 and 4 hits at 32000, the fight lasted 4 mins and he has crazy regen like most quest npc's giveing him a total of 200k hp's with a regen of 500 per tic or so. Dropped a miners pick

a (normal) crazed miner
# May 07 2004 at 7:24 AM Rating: Decent
The crazed variety of miner ranges from level 45 up to possibly 50. Different races hit for different amounts. Gnomes hit for least, dwarves most. Crazed gnomes never hit for more than 119 while dwarves hit for 133 max.
High elves hit for 125pts at level 46, 127pts at level 47. At level 64 I'll occaisionally see a dark blue, never a green. I disbelieve the level 53 max. Fanatical miners might go as high as 52 or 53 but not these.
In perhaps 300-400 kills of crazed miners I've seen one blue diamond, maybe 10 diamonds, 20 to maybe 30 each of fire opals, emeralds, and peridots.
Having killed the Mutated Laborer place holder more than 35 times I've seen it pop once. (The center spawn in the last bedroom.)

We ran into this guy the other night. We were beating on him for a couple mins and his hp's didn't go below 99%. Anyways we got an add, so enchanter mezzed this guy, we killed the add and then enchanter charmed him :) He is charmable. Charm kept breaking after a couple mins cause we were all low 50's but hmmmm a pet with 100Khp's +... nice. We did have a little fun with it. We trained about 20 mobs onto him and took them about one min or more to only get him to 94%. Then charm broke and we ran :)

Seems like too much of an exploit though to make a quest npc charmable
Godly Miners?

LOL, I headed down there to try and get me some of that lovely ore, found a crazed miner and engaged. After about 5 minutes of my pet wacking on it, it stood at about 99% health. Thank god this turns out to be a quest npc, was thinking that all the crazed miners had ungodly HP.

I have been killing these for a couple of nights. Every one has been blue to my 52 enchanter. They hit for 125 max, which is the same as the Bruisers.

The subverted miners hit for around 113 max. There are also a few fanatical miners which I haven't tried yet, but I'm guessing they are tougher than the crazed (still blue to my 55 druid - haven't conned with the enchanter). I reckon they may be similar to the Slavers which hit for around 141 max.

I have seen the indifferent con quest crazed miner up a few times, always a human, and always in the same spot (left spawn in the first room in the SW which has a crazed spawn - basically the first crazed miner you come to).

I would say we have killed around 200 and not had any gleaming ore yet.

If this guy supposedly is a quest npc, then he should be having a different name than the common mobs in this zone. But then again Verants logic never makes any sense.

Leave this guy alone. Me (61 Mage) and a 55 chanter tried him out and after 45 minutes of fighting, we had got him to 30% life and we seen a message that he blinked and then he was gone. Checked where I pulled him from and no one was there.

We took the quest NPC version, and it was harder than hell. Dropped nothing.

Raid was comprised of 10x 50-64, all the normal classes.

lol I ran into the same problem with this guy as a lot of others here. I had a group down there trying to get my 52 mana dot spell quest components and the SK picked a fight with this guy. We immediately noticed that this guy wasn't taking a lick of damage. We got him to about 90% and if memory serves he regenned to full. Well, we'd had a similar experience with Whispernuts just a couple of rooms back, so I assumed something was up. Just let him beat on the SK for a second while I mem blurred him and we went on our way.

There are 2 different kinds of these guyz. The best way to tell between the 2 is by their con. The one that has a load of HP will be indifferent, and any other that's scowling...go ahead and kill =D

It's not just humans..I've killed many scowling humans and they weren't the beeelion HP mob =D

Well the quest npc is for bard song aria of innocence, that is why you're having so much trouble killing him. Just con the crazed miners before you attack them.

We didn't know he was a Quest NPC, but once we attacked him and had been chewing on him with 4 pets and many DoTs for a minute, and saw no more than 2% reduction in his HP's - we had some suspicions. It was a 59 Drood, 55 Shammy, a level 53 and 65 Enchanter. We had four hasted pets and DoT's out the whazoo on this maniac and he danced with us for about 20 minutes before taking a dirt nap. After looking over most of the parsed damage, our tally came to 200,000 hp's. I won the UBAH loot roll... a mining pick =) As stated before, a waste of freaking time. However - without confirmation that this was indeed a Quest NPC - we hastily did an evac when we caught aggro of two more of these CRAZED Miners in the next chamber =) We weren't taking any chances.
Nexus Scion?

He's some type of quest NPC. But I would say definately over 100k HP. Most likely 250K. It took us a bit, but he died... DON'T ENGAGE HIM, unless you want to waste about 45 min.
RE: Nexus Scion?
# Oct 18 2003 at 2:29 AM Rating: Decent
So let me get this straight,

the NPC has between 70,000 and 100,000 hit points. But if you give him his lute someone immediately kills him with a single bow shot?

I want that bow!!!!

Just a quick follow up...

There are more mobs called a crazed miner in the mines. Only the HUMAN crazed miner is the quest NPC. The others are normal mobs.

So... DON'T PULL THE HUMAN "a crazed miner"!!!

We just killed this rip-off mob. No interesting loot, no reward of xp, just a mining pick and a ton of skill ups since I just dinged. We figure somewhere in the area of 100k hits, a bit many for a blue to 57th character.
I agree with the first post, someone added a couple of 0's to his hits in their program, and they're too lazy to try to fix it.
He enraged on us

We found one of these guys in the two adjacent square rooms on the way to the Overseer. We were delerious with anticipation at what a battle of this duration might yield (took us 45 minutes.) Alas, he dropped a mining pick... bleh :(

We were sure he was something special because at 10% or so, he ENRAGED... It was great for building up melee skills. We figured that he must be some kind of PH for a MoB deeper in the mines /shrug also Nah... probably just a bug.
