He killed my Druid six years ago whem the Druid was level 14 or 15. Keep in mind by than I had killed hundreds of Orcs and I was Tunare.

My crime I clicked beg.

His faction is mean. I think I will log on to my 52 Druid (Retired) and beg again than kill the guy.

Hehe, I remember that post, since then I'm no longer KOS on Faydwar, only slightly KOS to Halas and I think even the froggies like me. I'm living up ot my self given title of Good Dark Elf. Also, the killing of orcs faction hits can be undone wiht a popular quest that all cities have, I'll let you figure out what it is. If you really really need to know, and can't figure it out, email me with the subject as Faction Help.

For those wondering the kelethin banker is on ANTI-MAGE, not merchant faction.

He's on BOTH...

He wouldn't attack if he was on merchant faction, because merchants don't go below dubious to prevent them from attacking PC's and being moved.

But since his Anti-Mage faction can be lower than dubious, he will attack regardless of Kelethin Merchant faction.

BUT! If you have good Anti-Mage faction and the lowest dubious Kelethin Merchants faction, he'll bank with you because bankers tolerate dubious... if he was a Merchant he wouldn't sell to you, though.

This is good information to know in case Sony ever changes limiting factors on merchant faction...

I have an Iksar SK who can bank in gfay, so I know the deal on getting faction there.

Forget all the arguments about what faction the Banker might be on...cause

The merchants themselves will never "consider" less than dubious, even if you're KOS with their faction. This is a standard EQ feature with all merchants everywhere to stop KOS players training merchants out of position.

You can't kill anything to raise the Merchant faction, you must quest it. All the quests that give this faction require you to have Emerald Warrior faction first. You have to kill orcs until you con "amiable" with the Emerald Warriors (guards and warrior guild). This took me 9 hours of camping the throne room in CB.

That is the easy part.

The only viable Warrior guild quest to do for merchant faction is the warrior guild newbie quest with the warrior guild master Regren.
Give him a spiderling eye, bat fur, bone chip and ruined wolf pelt.

I did this 400 times to get to "dubious" with the banker. Yes 400 times...

(you can consider the banker by creeping close enough to the bank door till you can open it. He won't agro you at this distance)

Once dubious to the banker he won't kill you and he will let you bank with him.

The real killer with this quest is the spiderling eyes. The other items stack and can be found in most newbie area merchants...but spiderling eyes don't stack and newbies give up quickly on collecting and selling them. Best places I found to get them were the second hut merchants in East commons (coming from freeport) and the dark elf merchant outside Neriak entrance in Nektulos forest (other places were dwarf merchant outside Kaladim and the merchants outside Cabilis in Field of Bone)

Finding spiderling eyes will become your whole life for a few weeks...and you'll wish you never see one again once you're finished, but at the end you'll be an evil character standing in the kelethin bank :)

P.S. if you're a Troll or Ogre you can't fit through the door at the bank

P.P.S if you find a merchant that always seems to have a lot of spiderling eyes sold to him/her then make sure you sell back the last eye you buy...this leaves that merchant slot with the eyes visible in the merchants inventory, and you can come back later and buy any more that have been sold (merchants with full inventories still have items that aren't visible, and this stops your spiderling eyes being in the non-visible part)

I have been trying this for sometime with my DEF. I think bat fur is the worst to collect. It never seems to drop for me. Anyway the reason I'm writing is to help others along with this. Best place to get bone chips I think is Painell newbie area, but if you want to condense hunting you could go to Nektulos for wolf pelts and bone chips. Spiderling eyes drop alot for me in Innotuhle(SP?) Swamp. Unfortunatly it has now become quite deadly with the change in ownership. I would appiciate any response about place that you can readily loot bat fur. Thanks

I guess you could do this quest by collecting the items, but 400 times 4 items is 1600 items. That will take a long long time to collect yourself. You'd be much better off to buy the items since they are all cheap. If you're out of cash you'd be better off killing things that make you money and then buy the items, it would be much faster. As to bat furs, these were the easiest item to get, since there is a merchant in the int caster guild in freeport who sells an unlimited supply.
(i know as an evil character that you can't go in this guild, but you can always make a "good" character and use it to buy them)

A few things

1: Your Deity means nothing, its ALL class, my Gnome Enchanter is Ally with Guards, and Warm to Merchants, but in DE illusion, merchants are dubios, guards indifferant, and banker... well KoS
2: It is VERY VERY hard to gain faction with this guy, so unless your an iksar, try going to the nearest city (No offense to iksars, but you DO have to try every method)
3: The banker doesn't just attack if you are very near him, I was near the Door, he jumped me, I was near the outside, he attacked.
4: I outran him easy with a lvl 36 (or so) SoW, and a lev, so becareful and remember!
5: He ddoes NOT see invis, so troll/ogre Shammys, Shrink, shrink, shrink, shrink, Invis, bank, your done!

Hope this clears something up =D

1. Sorry to tell you that you are wrong. Deity does not mean nothing! The best for an enchanter is to be agnostic, being a DE Enchanter worshipping Inooruuk would give you a clue that deity means something. It is a combination of many factors. For a DE worshipping Inooruuk it is impossible to get a better faction than amiably

2. you are right, i am still KoS to the banker...

3. i stay at the tree and wait until someone opens the door to check my faction with the banker. He never jumped on me.

4. thanks :)

5. unfortunately invis does not help in banking. As soon as you trade with someone your invis will drop and he would attack you.

He is NOT on Scouts of Tunare faction.

I had my ogre kill him.

Negative factions to:
Kelethin Merchant
Faydark Champions
Emerald Warriors

Now we know that Faydark Champions and Emerald Warrior factions are NOT it - since many people can get to amiable with them and still be KoS with banker. So that narrows it to Anti-Mage or Merchants.

I am pretty sure he is on Merchant Faction - simply because he is linked to your ability to trade with Kelethin Merchants - he is two levels 'below' the other Merchants - i.e. if you are dubious to merchants, you will be 'scowls' to the banker.

And merchant faction is a bear to change...

When you kill an NPC, the first faction message you see is the NPCs faction. Since Kragmire's first faction message was "Kelethin Merchants" then that is the faction of the Kelethin banker. Thanks for finding this out!

If the banker's con appears different than other "Kelethin Mechants", that is because Verant limits the con of all vendor NPCs to never fall below dubious -- to prevent agro. Bankers are not considered vendors, so his con can fall below dubious.

There's a letter delivery service that I believe starts in Kaladim that gives you faction in diff cities (one being gfay). Has anyone tried this. If your having a problem being KOS to Kaladim, just kill dwarf bandits. Don't flame me though this hasn't been tested. ;)

You might not think Kelethin is that populated, but half the population is right around the bank. As your walking up the ramp, you start to freeze and slow down. There are so many people there, it's hard to organize your stuff, lag lag lag. And, watch it evil people. There are a lot of people who become wolves so they can fit through the door and the banker won't kill them. The banker is very mean, and people like giving him weapons, so watch out.

I believe all merchant NPCs in Norrath were changed at some point so their faction never falls below dubious. You could be KoS with their faction, but the merchant will still be dubious. So you can't judge your true faction level by conning a merchant NPC. I guess this is to keep them at their post instead of constantly agro-ing on the animals and players who walk by like they used to do.

Is it true that faction with this guy can't be raised? I'm a level 50 ranger on Tallon Zek, killed one too many wood elves LoL. I've heard of a quest in CB involving some Elven prisoners to raise Kelethin faction (banker included).

There is a quest for releasing prisoners in Crush Bone. Kill orc slavers and they will commonly drop numbered keys. Then go to the prisoners and find out which key they need. A list of keys can be found at If you don't have the list though, simply give each prisoner a copper. They will then tell you which key you need.

A word of warning; if your faction is not good enough with this race, you will need to sneak while giving them the key in order to complete the quest and get faction. I am not positive that this gives the banker faction you're after, but it does have some nice faction changes associated with it.

Your won't want to do this quest (or kill orcs in general) if you are a Dark Elf. You may return home to find that your family now wants you dead.

You can do this quest as a darkelf, the only factio that will drop is the Indigo Brotherhood which is the Warriors Guild in Neriak. The Guards are on Inner/Outer Dread Guard faction. Just stay away of the Warriors Guild and you will be fine :)
If you are yorself a warrior it is not recommended to do this quest or kill any Orcs in Crushbone...

This banker (same for Felwithe Banker) is kos to my Ogre Shaman. However, thanks to some faction work, the merchants of Kelethin and Felwithe are Dubious, they use to be kos too. Both Bankers look at me threateningly just like always. I have not found any way to fix it.
