Yes, getting repeatedly summoned by this beast as a 55 cleric while healing for a group pretty well spoiled my day. We went on a cycle: Pull one and kill it, pull another, cleric summoned and eaten, group killed, start over.

It can be rooted, snared, and slowed. Wake of Tranquility (ae paci) and harmony will also work. For a healer I got a lot of up close and personal experience with how this thing hits: It hit me for a maximum of 435 (AC = 935, defense maxed out), and it hit rapidly when not slowed. Large frenzy radius if not paci'd -- pulling one will get you two every time plus whatever cacti or snakes and such happen to be around (also a source of great joy). Two of these chewed up a 58 war with 5300 HP/ 1100 AC in under 15 sec. and took somewhat longer to finish off the rest of us. I'll visit these suckers again when my group and I are about 5 levels higher, maybe.
