Overseer Wrank is untargettable until you turn in several Torgiran Shackle Keys to Resistance Miners. There is a random chance of the event spawning the Captains based on turning the keys in so it appears to use the RNG.

Captain Flang, Captain Lkai, Captain Lunq, Captain Nago

Upon their deaths, Overseer Wrank becomes targettable.

You cannot hide from his AE, hard keeping the entire grp healed if you only have a cleric and shaman.

Killed him yesterday...grp was 65 sham (me) 65 pally 63 monk 62 wiz 59 cler... The 59 cleric gated cause was oom when overseer was at 60life, the 62 wiz died from AE.

So i kept me pally and monk alive with quiscence (one of the most powerful shaman spells) I estimate him to have about 80k+ hps, he was about a 15-20 min fight... real problem is his 50% slow (which cancels spell haste), the 500DD AE (-300 to fire) is not much of a problem with a good healer..

dropped arms x 2 on first kill, second time dropped arms and guants... so safe to say he drops 2 items a pop..

For the start to find this guy best thing to do is to get a map from

Then in the most left room on the bottom of the map there is the overseer. Before his room is a ring of 4 smaller rooms where his captain spawns after you traded in 20 shackle keys to resistance miners.

The resistance miners can pop anywhere in zone where any other miner can pop so the only way to find them is to check all the mine and run to them. The keys are collected pretty fast so this shouldn't be a problem.
The only thing I would take care of is a crazed miner somewhere that is indiff and has about the same HP or more like the Overseer. This is because it is a quest mob and therefore you should leave him alone. All other mobs are kos (beside resistance miners)

You better also check this one out, because its missing in his effects used.

Resistance miners are random pops from killing regular miners throughout the mine. If you look at a map of the mines there is an oval room of decent size in the southwest part of the zone that is kinda sorta off by itself in the loc:p200,p400 area.

This mob can be soloed as a level 64 enchanter, (but probably could do it as low is 61) but a duo would make it go much faster. I'll let all you creative people figure it out. Of course he doesn't always drop stuff that enchanters can use so bringing friends isn't a bad thing. I did it twice, never got the ring I wanted.


(Don't know if it's possible now since the April 9 patch changes)

yes, he can be solo'ed but he is NOT a piece of CAKE make no mistake about it. I have camped him for the past 3 to 4 weeks.

I play lvl 65 ENC. So I say, he is NOT as easy as someone suggested. I got over 100 AA points under my belt. But still that does not make it easy, but he can be soloed if one takes time to asset his weakness, and practice soloing him. My first 4 encounter goes something like this. 2/4 times i got whooped by him, then the last 2 times. I finally had him figure out. When i say solo i mean with your own buffs NONE of that Sow, Virtue, Brells, and other people buffs. HE gave me a fight that's for sure. And if you don't have enough HP or at least lvl 61+ you are gonna die Peroid.

Now for tactic against him. IF you are and chanter and want to solo him, this tip might help. First of all hopefully you are at least lvl 61+ (for ARCANE RUNE) with DC. IF you are not get there first or at ask other people for HP buffs.
Now, assuming you are lvl 61 ENC. and have DC, i'll continue This should be fun fight.

First off..you want the make sure you clear the 4 room before that OVERSEER Wrank room. IF you kill enough you will have all 4 room spawn Resistance miners. Reason being is when you fight him, and if you are lucky enough to get his hp down to the point where he start walking he won't aggro Frenzied miners and all the mobs in that room. And you don't have to worry about other mobs aggroing on you or popping up from behind ya, if you got all those room fill with Resistance miners. ONCE that's done, your fight will be much smoother.
NOW here is the the secret tips. GO find MR.Quest NCP by the name of Gandak Whisperwind, DC him, Buff him up with WR (lvl 58) + SOV (lvl 62) + Bedlam(58)+ NTD(64) and TADA! YOU got yourself a MONSTER OF a PET that will make a mage pet look like it's wearing diaper! That pet will HIT VERY Hard and very fast for 206max or Quad at least 800 + and to top it off he got about 20k to 30 or even 40K hp (i have no idea but be sure it's a LOT~! /Evil.)

Now before you send your pet after him. you need to clear 4 trolls in that room. And it will be VERY VERY EASY for you to do that with that MONSTER PET of yours. JUST Tash them one by one from the tunnel or room and they will come running to you one at time. Send your pet in and 3 sec later. NEXT!! When you quickly clear that, Immediately, Re-buffs your pet with BEDLAM then send your pet in. After, you gave your pet a sec or two you want to TASHED HIM, SLOWED him.
You'll notice two AE spell OVERSEER cast on you. ONE is that nightmare stat and the other is that 500 DD spell (OUCH if you don't have ARCANE RUNE (61 spell) ON ya). As soon soon as you can Re-Rune yourself. Since he will keep on casting that. IF you got that part down..your pet will do most of the damage. But Be warn though, if you OVERNUKED overseer , thinking you are a Wizzy class, you have a surprise coming for ya...he will be very mad and summoned you to death. You can mana sieve him til doomsdays and he will still have mana to AE you, so you can forget about that one. Draining his mana won't help either because he seems to have endless mana supplies or it will say "Target have no mana" but you'll still get AE to hell, so don't waste your spell slot for that. You can however help your pet to kill him faster with DOT line spells,ie. Strangle, Asphyxiate and Torment of Scio. He got lot of HP so you want to renew that once it wears off.
When your pet takes damage RECAST BEDLAM + ARCANE RUNE youself + Dot line spells + slow on him is all you really need to take him out. if you got all that tip down pat. IT will be a fun fight. NOT easy but fun and a good learning experience.

I don't know how many hps Gandak Whisperwind has exactly (other posts said 40 to 80K), but there is a crazed miner who has 120K hp for certain. My guild ran in to him and took him out. The human male crazed miner is for a qwest (bard, I think), but looks no different from the rest of the cazed miners. It has to be "a crazed miner" and it has to be male and human. You can tell he's different also cause he cons indifferent to all and dosn't agro. Hope this helps.

At 61 an enchanter has access to arcane rune and the other one (rune of zeb). So that's why I thought it could be done then. Sure it could be attempted at 59 with DC but I would not be optimistic on the outcome.

Jenniferred has the basic idea that I used. Mainly Dire Charm Mr. Whisperwind. He's got tons of hitpoints and hits very hard.

He seems to have 2 seperate AE's. The first nightmare stasis, is indeed about 45 seconds between landing and is 50melee attack slow, 50% snare, and 50% spell casting reduction. makes for some very LONG ch's.

The second is called Reckless Mutterings 500DD and neg 50 to atk, and seems to go off on average every 35 seconds however there were several times where 2 AE's hit within 20 seconds.

Hiding from AE is ineffective, running out of range is possible, however was more of a pain than it was worth with the snare.

Did this last night with 4 people. 65war/clr/shm/nec and it was just over a 10minute fight.

Cleric focused heals on the warrior and chain torpor on the other 3 kept up with the AE nicely.

Rampages 1 target occasionally, but not frequently. flee's at about 15% life and is rootable to keep him from going to adds. Will enrage upon root tho.

Not very high hps, the captains you fight before him are probably even more hps. Melee dps is very inneffective agaisnt him with the slow and atk debuff.

His melee is pretty gimp, 272 max hit on our warrior. average was 139. he can quad, but most were doubles.

The nightmare spell seemed to add 2 seconds from when you would push the button til the time the spell would start casting.

Well, keeping casters out of sight doesn't help - his AEs go fdirectly through walls. They are also not directional like say dragons, but affect everything around.

Please update this guys info:
Effects used are Nightmare Stasis and Reckless Mutterings.
Stasis: 50% slow, 50% snare, 50% spell slow, unresistable, 45sec recast, range 200.
Mutterings: 500HP DD, -50ATK for one tick, fire-based, -300 resist adjust(lure), 20 sec recast, range 200.
His resists are laughable, slow landed just right, and he hits for ~220 double, so tanking him is real easy. Dementia hit for full damage at 58, but he cannot be stunned.

Suggested tactics for lower-mid 50s: Once captains spawn, kill three of them, then quickly clear out the slavers in Wrank's room. Kill 4th captain to make Wrank targetable. Keep everyone in small room next to Wrank's, rune everyone, and send the HVd MT in. Have him run past Wrank, and pull him to back wall of his room, MT should yell out when Stasis lands, after which chanter/shaman/cleric go in and Tash/slow, and cleric CHes MT - then they run out. Remedy has 200 range, so one cleric can dart in an Remedy MT every time the DD hits.
Once Wrank casts NS a second time, all melees go in and pound him. Then casters go in and nuke.

Ok some info on Wrank. Yes, he is triggered by turning in keys to resistance miners. Every single slaver and bruiser drops a key. You can only make the resistance miners pop by killing other miners. Killing bruisers doesn't help. His AE is a snare, A DD (500hp a pop), A melee slow (not sure on percent but it hindered me alot) and a spell that slows spell casting down about 5 seconds. He does NOT drain mana. He rampages alot and has alot of HP. we killed all captains, pulled first 2 slavers in the room then I (61 warrior) was able to single pull the overseer away from the 2 slavers that sit right next to him. BTW got a haste mask to drop from one of the captains on the way there.. The mask has Combat haste not Worn haste.. anxious to find out percentage will do some testing and researching.

He is only ~lvl 52, but it's his effect that makes him tough. He is not very resistant - at 58, slowed him easily. But we were not ready for the fight, 10 of us (lvls 50-59) just charged him, and got wiped. His main weapon is Nightmare Stasis, an AE that does 50% snare, slow, and spell delay. Essentially, when you try to cast, all spells take about 50% extra time. Clerics were not ready to account for that. The stasis cannot be resisted, btw.

The key is to avoid this AE, and to keep all casters hidden out of sight. Send only one tank in to tank him, let him build aggro up. He also should yell out whenever He gets hit by Stasis. When he yells out, all melees rush in to pound on Wrank. Someone with a timer yells retreat 35 secnds later, and everyone except MT rushes out (Stasis got 45 sec recast). repeat until dead.

ok last night i was in a group with 2x monks me 51 other 54 a pally that was 60 a cleric that was 61 a necro that was 58 and a druid that was 53.........THIS GUY OWNED us....first took out our pally then took out the cleric and druid and then the nec died but me and the other monk lived he his for almost 300 i kept gettin hit for around 250-296.....so word of the wise get two groups heh

Anyone know spawn time on the untargetable version. We killed him several days ago and have yet to see him pop again.

He dropped 2 dreaded gaze rings.

You don't necessarily have to kill all the slavers from start to finish. Just keep getting keys and keep turning them in to resistance miners until you get the shout message from the Overseer for his captains to come out. Take out the 4 captains, then you can target the Overseer.

Does freeing the slaves force the Overseer and his captains to spawn or does the Overseer already have to be spawned and freeing the slaves just causes the captains to spawn - making the already spawned Overseer targetable? If the latter, does anyone know an approximate spawn time? Thank you.

Sirstan ok your wrong hes not triggered by killing the slavers around the flame. He is spawned only after kill the slavers in the cave from start to finish which are alot and using there keys to rescue the resistance miners. Im not sure if there is and order but we tried two times. The first we were succesfull we move from start of cave to end freeing miners till we hit the overlord. Before we got close to the room THe overlord states he captans hace rissen ect. 4 capts pop each is 50+ they drop decent loot. WE only killed one cause other group ganked us from overlord room. They said once the captians were killed which are not in his room he became targetable. He is only targetable for 1 attempet if you fail you got clear all over again

We beat this guy up last night. Basically, from what I gathered being there, you need to turn in 20 or so keys that drop from slavers, to the resistance miners.

That spawns 4 captains, kill them to make the overseer targetable. He has a 500dd ae, some mana dot thingy, and there is a 2 sec delay on casting while fighting him (part of the effect I guess)

He is not too terribly MR, 59 chanter was landing my nukes on him and cripples..post tash of course. I cant attest to his HP, but we took him with monk tanking.

He dropped a whip and some wis caster gloves...cant remember the stats.

My guild took a journey to meet the overlord and after we pushed him into the corner and he depoped then we ventured further and met up with this badboy. We cleared his room and he remained untargetable. Please if there is any info anyone can provide as to how to trigger this spawn or make him become targetable .. please respond to this post...Thanx.

We had one group of 61+ and it was a pushover. However he casts disjunction of flame, which is a mana dot. The boss is triggered by his death and has a mean proc and spell.
