He was up by the lower zone-out when I aggro'd him. He sees invis. Tried to just zone out on him but when I clicked the pillar it said "The doors are held firmly shut by magical forces." I'm guessing aggroing him makes you unable to zone out.
Solo'd him today; despite his ability to summon, he can be killed with Headshot via Arc of Arrows. I shot him with my bow, got a few shots off before he summoned me (inc one successful Headshot), and then I hit him with the Arc of Arrows. Took three successful Headshots in total (I guess he has more than 65000 hit points... maybe somewhere in the 200k range) but once I got the third Headshot message, he went down.
Total fight time around 25 seconds. Dropped the wand.

Are you sure it is a 24 hour re-spawn? Killed him yesterday at 4:20-4:25, zoned in today at 4:15 and have been waiting almost an hour, and not up. May have changed his re-spawn timer or something? Anyhow, as of right now on Zek, the 24 hour re-spawn is not correct. Will wait a little longer and see. May edit this later with his new? spawn time.
*edit- Waited another 30 minutes, and pop... So re-spawn is like 25 hours give or take 15 minutes. *Note* Has dropped Blood Runed Battle Wand both times so far... thinking the SBoD is rare. (Not just from 2 kills, but reading posts below.) Really, really wanting that sword for my warrior, lol. Anywho hope this info helps a little.
solod him with 80mage pet and merc, easy fight merc on efficient doin complete heals took a minute or two, started running but nuked it and no adds. dropped battle wand gonna try again for splitblade
Go downstairs (jump in the pet, head to the south exit) and look at your map and head south.
Go all the way to the end of the zone where it curves sothwest. You are in an area with several pig pens, it's pretty obvious.
Glykus Helmir is at the vey end. I didn't have any adds when I fought him but he does run on low HP and you get an add as he wanders off.
Also, at the end of the zone here is a clicky object to exit the zone. It's like a short pillar or something, it has that "what does this do?" look about it.
The main zone exit by the way, is where you zone in but at the end of the hallway.
edit: His spawn time is slightly less than 24 hours or perhaps a little random, he's usually there if I come back exactly 24 hoursa later
Camping him If I log in right at his spawn spot, or up gainst the wall, it can be deadly. Normally you can invis to him, kill him and perhaps get a roamer to add. If I just pop in on him by logging in, I swear all the mobs in sight come running and now you have perhaps 3 mobs and Glykus to fight. Normally this is OK, but the pigs in the pen are activated by fights and can turn into enchanted war boars if the fight goes on long enough and are a serious problem beause they add to the others. So "use the exit" you say. It can be impossible while you're being summoned so don't be surprised if you can't exit.
I would suggest if you're camping him, find a quiet spot to log in to. Right outside the pen area is a corner with no mob in it. I would suggest there.

Done with 3 and a merc. 65 Ranger 200 aas all defensive and offensive avaiable at lvl, Bst box with about 40 aas mostly on double attack and spell casting reinforcement nothing spectacular and 60 shammy with about 200 plus aas with a tank merc. Took about 2 minutes and looked a bit shaky at first. Ranger tanked at first until about 50 percent popped weaponshield then fell back and popped true shot. Shammy said was chain healing merc to keep alive and bst was just dpsing. The ae is nothing to worry about except its 25 minute snare and has 72 counters so need 2 casts of greater remove curse. Goodluck guys.
ok after farming a few days now...If you do not push him against the wall Boars will add he spawns maybe 6 an enraged war boar, and they evolve into greater war boars, then enchanted war boars. If you get the boars just zone out and reset.
Just went to mess around. Now i see on track its 10 boars. As time progresses the boars change into the ones listed above. They are in the pens directly next to him. If you pull him to the very corner opposite of him they will not add until he runs and you happen to get close. If you dps is high enough they will not spawn at all.
Saw him up at end of boar pen. Soloed w/ 80 Druid Demi+ geared. Was bored killing stuff in zone and saw him up. Had the Split Blade of Destruction in his hand. Died pretty fast and I had ZERO adds/boar spawns. Perhaps the adds are timed to pop if he doesn't die in a certain amount of time? /shrug Cannot be snared at all and will run when low on health aggroing any mobs it passes by.
Okay, Headboss duo'd him at level 70 with a cleric, maybe I should have a go at it at level 75 I thought. He appeared to be holding the Blood Runed Battle Wand. Full self buffs on a ranger with 1106 aa's, 14166 hp, 2786 ac, average level of gear COA. I cleared the room, and pulled with a debuff, engaged and the first few seconds seemed okay. Then there was one spawned add, and I was at 50%. I hit a hot pot, and hp's were still going south. I never got a chance to hit any discs as the fight started off with me casting and lining up the add for hail of arrows, etc, and then it was suddenly too late to worry about the fancy stuff, when what I really needed to do was gate out. Fortunately I had my Worker Sledgemallet on a bandoleer switch and I gated out with about 5% health left, and he was about 85%. I did get a skill up in 2 Hand Blunt using the mallet, so there was some good from this failed fight. (SOE raised the skill limits a few weeks ago, and I haven't maxed all my skills yet).
I checked the fight details, and he cast gravel rain which I resisted, he flurried a lot, max hit was 638. My endurance faded was a message I saw in the spell box, so maybe that was my Form of Endurance getting debuffed somehow. I was also missing a bunch of buffs shortly after getting to the Overthere. He summoned and saw invis also.
Maybe with better gear some more aa's and a better plan going in I will be able to do it next time.
Soloed by 75 cleric tss geared, pulled to overseer room to try to avoid adds but they came anyway. Was a shock when i found they evolved and ched till they got to An Enchanted Warboar but aoed them to death eventually anyways then disced named with pet and avatar, damn named runs but cant be snared ><
Soloed him tonight. 11928 hp 2210 ac unbuffed monk, popped 2 hot pots, mend, innerflame (destructive force was down from previous named fight) and he died. flurries like a bitch and hits fast. monk slow disc ftw ;) Also, didn't spawn any adds what so ever.
Dropped wand and spectral =(

Duo'd him with lvl 75 warrior with 19k hp and lvl 75 cleric with just over 10k mana. Cleric didnt even go below 75% mana
No Real strat, i just stayed on him and at 38% or around that he's Summoned 4 Enraged Boars. I really didnt want to kill the add's. So when this mob dropped so did his buddys.
Oh btw, i kept the cleric right next to me b/c he cast "Gravel Rain" which snared me.
He dropped the Glyphed Rune Word and Ornate Silk Robe Pattern
I am highly skeptical that they had such stats unless they were seriously bored to death, the fact that for cleric only Lanathadar has reached the 14k mark the next being Kanon at 13.7k, and warrior hp for near 18k is... impossible atm until Deathknell gets farmed, the highest recorded value unbuffed is 17.7k, the next 17.4k. The fact the people with these extremes aren't even on the same server, makes me think you exagerated those values significantly.
That... and you don't need anywhere near those stats to duo this guy.
i said almost 18k... (Headboss) look him up... and he was using a cleric that was in the same guild... and yes... hes around 14k, look up the guild... #2 guild in EQ i think (Crimson Tempest)
ok fyi soe got a wild hair up there back side and changed this guy had been farming him for a month and with patch they made it to where it is now 100% a raid encounter wiped with 1 grp way to easy charming mobs against it was a waaste he has ne dmg mid against charmed mobs

he is probalby listed as a raid encounter as they figured you would have to deal with his pigs in melee and not kite them would be my guess, not all mobs desiganted as a raid mob are

we didnt know anything about him when we engaged him with 1 group. The boars wiped us. It was still fun.. hehe. He did have the split blade of destruction in his hand. If i knew that this is what he drops, i would have gone back there and did him again with another group.. had no idea that's what it was.. So, if u see a split blade graphic in his hand, u know that's what he's gonna drop.. hope this helps, he's tough, buttload of hp, slowable though.
This guy was a fun fight. We did him this morning with 2 chanters, cleric, pally, ranger, and a druid. Nothing new from whats mentioned. Ranger kited the piggy adds while i tanked and the druid and chanters killed him.
Why do people post "Yea, we used so and so tactics on this guy but im not going to tell you. i just recommend u use 65s" its pointless, you're uber wow, stfu
#fowll,
Posted:Sep 24 2003 at 7:12 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) well..i use a frienzied initiate which is the best cod pet in the game it hits for mid 600s and sped wieldin a splitblade of destruction and a overseer dagger and havin full shammy buffs ( ferine avatar a must ) ive had the dps as high as 1400 been parsed by a friend and a gm on my server we can down glykus in a record time of like 1 minute 26 seconds usin pet chanter nukes and cleric nukes cause healin isnt hard di usually does the job.we did tagrin for the last week pretty much the same way)im happy to see someone else who is doin the same grats to you)
Spelweaver- I'm not an enchanter, rather a cleric, but I regularly duo this guy with an enchanter (and sometimes trio with an added ranger or druid). It's taking us an average of 5 casts to land slow after tash. Once it took something like 8, other times it'll happen on the first cast (rare). I'm usually the one pulling Glykus with Mark of the Righteous (neg 55 resist adjust, so similar chance of landing as slow with Howl of Tashan) and I usually get in 3 MoR casts before we have him pulled in to the pet. About half the time I get MoR in before tash. So, his resistance is right up there, but he's by no means immune.
What are you planning to do about the boars? They'll come running in at you after 1 minute or so. Are you going to kite them (or enchanter after slow?)
Also, though his DPS unslowed is a pain, it is possible to outheal it with the right AAs. I'd encourage your cleric friend to max out healing adept first (including advanced under the POP abilities tab) and then healing gift. I can keep a war boar or zek initiate up with just CH until slow is in or I run out of mana. Each CH is doing 8925 instead of 7500, with a 16% chance of crit for 17850 that way (war boars have about 30k hps, zek initiates about 25k I think). Anyway, just doing max adept gives you 19% more healing on every cast of Complete Heal, which increases your Healing Per Second by 19%, very nice. But throw in a 16% crit chance and it goes up even more. I'd not say another 16%, becuase some of the time the extra healing in a crit heal is wasted, but let me tell you, when you land a crit CH with a zek initiate at like 20%, and you were falling behind, it feels GOOD to watch its health shoot up to over 90%!
Oh yeah, also, have the enchanter give the pet a charisma buff, and have the cleric cast Divine Intervention on it just before you pull. Duration 10 mins (more with AAs/focus) and decent chance of the pet healing to full (yes, full, not 7500 hps healed) if it drops below something like 20%. That way, if the cleric isn't able to keep up with heals until slow is in, or Glykus flurries several times in a short duration, you at least have a chance of not wiping. I'd guestimate the chance as 50% with Divine Intervention on a pet with Overwhelming Splendor, if the cleric doesn't have any Unfailing Divinity skill (AAs). I've seen it work on pets probably about 6 or 7 times out of 10. I have a suspicion that when developers create high level trash mobs, they give them good stats in everything. I mean, I imagine when they are populating a zone with NPCs, they have some sort of NPC creation tool, and they set a level and it creates "recommended" stats for the mobs. I would guess that stats on level 60+ mobs are all fairly high, vs fairly low on low level mobs. I would not be surprised if all the NPCs in tactics (and other high level zones) had around 250 charisma (and str/dex/agi/sta/int/wis) give or take 50.
Finally, don't worry about DPS too much, even a war boar (can't dual wield) hasted will do enough damage with enchanter nukes tossed in to easily kill him before a max charm duration. However, personally, I would bring in a couple rusty 1h weapons, and use a zek initiate for a pet, dual wield and haste it. It has around 25k hps instead of 30k, but does a lot more damage, resulting in a quicker fight and less kiting. The main thing is keeping the boars that spawn every minute or so away from Glykus and the cleric (instant aggro if not). Sacrifice DPS to deal with them, because dead clerics don't heal, dead pets don't tank, and the rest is about how fast your Exodus finger is. :) The spawned boars despawn after Glykus is dead, by the way.
AE is a curse, radiant cure 1 will not get it, about 8-10 castings of Remove Curse will, or I think 2 of Greater Remove Curse. If enchanter is slowing then kiting, stay clear of him. If there's no way to get past him without getting in AE range, have cleric Bestow Divine Aura on enchanter for 18 seconds of immunity with which to run right past.
Rune/nothing seems about 75%/25%, Spectral/nothing about 75%/25%, Wand/Robe/Blade about 75%/20%/5% or so, I'd say (maybe 70%/20%/10%).
-Gravely
P.S. fowll (post subject: Chump) is right, he's really a chump with the right tactics, but fowll's post is a bit of an exaggeration. Dual wielded hasted zek initiate DPS is probably over 500 but not quite up to 1000. I'd say the fight duration with pet DPS, enchanter kiting, and me nuking between heals is maybe 3 minutes. With a war boar it's probably 5 minutes with no enchanter chain nuking. Maybe 2 minutes with a dual wielding zek initiate if a druid is kiting and enchanter is nuking hard, too. Someone said Glykus has 200k hps but I'd put it more like 100k. I almost wonder if Fowll is someone I know, because I am sometimes two boxed by my enchanter friend, who can actually do the encounter by himself with 2 machines hehe (kiting plus healing... I'd say he has 3 arms, but I've met him IRL, and he only had 2).
Just a note on the post-script: I've parsed charmed frenzied doing 1000 dps. The frenzied who flurries (usually Dark Elf model I think) was mage-item hasted and dual wielding items from inside the pit.
His gravel rain goes off every 12 seconds. Flurries, and only flurries about once between gravel rains so its not a lot. Didn't get to tank him so I'm not sure how hard he hits.
Is there a trick to landing slow on this guy? 65 Chanter, 65 Cleric, 65 Wizard (me) were trying to trio him but the chanter couldn't get slow to stick. He had like 12 resists in a row and Glyk was tashed. Cleric couldn't keep the pet (war boar) alive without slow and we died on every attempt. I'd appreciate a response from a chanter who's been able to slow Glyk with how you got it done.
Thanks in advance.
Olurin Spelweaver Arcanaist Virtute et Armis 7th Hammer
Did last night with small group, never resisted my slow as an enchanter (took us three tries to get him due to bad luck on the pig kiting).
Didn't have a shaman with us but did have a mage order of debuff was Tash / mala / malosinia = slow. Mage tried Malosinia alone first shot and couldn't land it till post mala.
listen you guys tend to over think an encounter. This guy is a chump.I trio him all the time with me a 65 druid a 65 enchanter and 65 cleric(btw cleric is bein 2 boxed by chanter rl friend).Anyone can do it a druid is best for kitin the pets oh and btw to the guy that said rangers are best because they have innate invis wow man wake up druids have that too)we use a frienzied initiate for a pet and own him in about 30 seconds pet has 1000dps
Ok heres the deal, 1 tank 2 cleric 1 enchanter and a pig O dont forget the ranger or druid.
Clear pens, post group ouside at cave mouth, post druid or ranger inside the second pen on the left on the little outcropping on the wall. Enchanter pulls him to the clerics, tank and pig. The enchatner engages the pig, clerics keep the pig up. When slowed the tank goes in with defensive up and thats it, well that part. Thought i forgot about the druid or ranger. Well heres the fun part. I would RECOMEND a ranger with Innate camo. The reason being, ack got ahead lol sorry.
Ok when Glyk is SLOWED the baby pigs pop and when the piggys start running to his rescue the druid or ranger tags one and they all agro. Then the druid ranger commences to kite around the pens till Glyk is dead then they depop. Ok the reason I reccomend a ranger with Innate Camo is because, sometimes the fight with Glyk can take longer then the time you have for repops in the pens. Ok so your druid is running around kiteing the piglet look alikes and a big boar pops. Hmm no big deal iam ahead lol cant catch me, WRONG lol they ALWAYS catch u as you make the turn at the mouth of the cave to start back around again for another lap, no matter how big a loop u make. So this is the kicker, if u use a ranger with Innate camo the minute they get agro from the pigles they pop camo on the run. Bam there chaseing you but the big pigs, if they pop, dont see the ranger so theres no agro and they stay in there pens like good pigs. If the ranger gets hit on the kite, hmm no biggy they can pop innate again on the run and there fine. This is not a run in and do thing you will wipe a few times before u get it to work for u, so dont give up. Also one IMPORTANT fact, DO NOT kill the guard in the back right hand corner of the room as your faceing the cave entrance. Keep him up just right before you go to pull. He seems to be a PH for the room to repop at a faster rate. So once the back one is killed the room does a full resett so you have more time then if u cleared room and then cleared the pens and pulled and you have to get this done fast, clearing the pens that is. Well if anyoen gets it to work for them throw me a post on here woudl liek to know how it went for u guys. Also hae the druid ranger and enchatner with SoE. wel ahve fun.
every time someone is placed in this guy's aggro list will he spawn another boar? or is it just the initial aggro that causes him to summon boars (i.e. one time thing).
also how successful are enchanter mezzes on the boars and is this guy slowable/partially slowable?
He is doable by 1 group with the right tactics and classes. I however recommend 8-12 people with the right tactics. We got him down in 4 trys, having no idea what his abilities were before we started.
Handle the adds and you can own this encounter. There are several method. We found mezzing did not work as well as we would have liked and tank mezzing didn't work at all.
In the end he dropped and left us a rune and the wand. We had 0 deaths on the winning attempt.
#PrinceBytorr,
Posted:Apr 01 2003 at 8:02 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Ok, I 2 box the named in BoT and got pwned quite fast by this guy with boar pet. As soon as you engage he has a nice surprise for ya :). Not gonna say what but you better have a strong full group to take this guy out, all 65s (maybe even two groups). Having a bard in addition to chanter would help a LOT (hint).
Yeah, if you're guild can take out Vindi, this guys would be pretty easy to kill... but, in order to get into Drunder, Fortress of Zek (aka Plane of Tactics) you have to kill the Manaetic Behemoth which is about 20 times harder than this guy.

not true, you can do the quest that flags you for tactics with 1 group collecting all 4 pieces of the medallion from the Diaku raiders in desert part of PoS. once all 4 pieces have been collected you do turnin and it flags the whole group, cakewalk :) 65 Hunter Trebori Nhadragh
the pic is the battle wand it has same grafix...we got one last night..we killed him with warr, cler, dru, ench, sham, bard and 3 wiz all 65 all approx.150 aa, he spawns pig pets to his left that will atttack you. and has a snare ae so you cant kite...ona good note..there is a zone out right behind him.../shrug
