Easy Kill. Pulled him with a root (Crystalline Silk Net). Ran guards in a huge circle. By the time the bodyguards caught up, I had Captain nearly dead. Killed him, looted and FD - Guards reset fast since it was right at hut.
Only thing I (level 65 warrior) did was have a lvl 58 Paladin pacy the bodyguards in rotation just before I give the Captain the tainted ale. Then while we waited for the Captain to fall down, had the pally continue to pacy the bodyguards until the Captain fell down and respawned. Once the Captain respawned I kicked him and pulled him out of the hut away from aggro range of his bodyguards and killed him quick. The Captain didn't put up much of a fight. None of his bodyguards ever woke up and didn't know what happened to their poor Captain. Your situation may vary based on your level.
After you give him the tainted avalanche ale, he takes 2.5 minutes to fall down - this is where he respawns as a new version of himself, with his head now in his loot table. If you had the standing Captain targetted before, you will have to retarget the lying-down Captain. As soon as he has fallen over, pull him and kill him - you have 1.5 minutes before he de-pops!
If the guards come (they all did for me at 65), do not waste time on them until the Captain is dead and looted. The Captain is much easier to kill than his guards.
As a lvl61 Druid, with KEI and Mask of the Hunter, I could just barely Quad these guys. I cast Harmony of Nature on the Captain then ran in to argo the bodyguards, pulling all four. Once I got the rounded up, Bonds of Tunare and Fist of Karana to drop them. Not bad on the AAEXP and they repop very quickly.

Did this guy recently and like a breath of fresh air it was nice to discover the paladin lvl 51 does work on his 4 bodyguards.
The first run we did, we tanked them all, and only as an experiment on the second run I decided to see what would happen with pacify. So often Paladins forget this, owing to it being next to useless in planar battles now.
The loc he spawns at, approx neg 100 pos 2400 is in a cluster of dwarven huts. This is located north east of the giants fort and considered north west of the orc fort. Coming in from Great Divide, head East by North East and you're going the right way.
With regards the Tainted Avalanche Ale, my first attempt at skill 212 failed. The two following attempts at skill 217 both made. As I was making the Minotaur Hero Brew for skill ups, I noticed that was also a 248 trivial. I had 85% success rate with that, without Geerlok as i needed Wis mod in primary slot.
Hope the information helps, and good hunting.

Just a note of warning. When he respawns after handing in the ale, pull him ASAP. He despawns in less than a minute. Got him targeted, ran back to my pet (max cast range), interrupted first cast, and poof he was gone :(
Captain Barradain is located in the dwarf huts surrounded by 5 guards Loc N178 / P2489. They are Level 44, they are indifferent but will assist unless harmonied, Mez’d or lured. No other dwarf in the camp will assist the Captain.
Start by harmoning the guards and the captain. Once you give him the tainted ale he will thank you and drink “glug, glug”. Now you have to wait in about a minuet or two he will start to have convulsions and then stop. Next he will say “send me a cleric” and despawn and respawn again, then fall down.
***NOTE: It I critical you wait till he has fallen down and respawned! ***
Next pull him out behind the huts a fair distance and kill he will drop the head and a note for Peffin
I did this with one 56 Ranger and a 58 shaman no problems and very little mana used.
Notes on making the Tainted Avalanche Ale, Combine: Bottle, An iceball, an Ice Wyvren Stinger, Artic Mussels, Seahorse Scales, a Runed Seashell (Cloud), and a vial of Mind Melt in a brew barrel. Brewing skill trivial confirmed at 248.
Supply locations: *An iceball, are a common drop of snow devises in the Eastern waste, kill enough you will get a few. *Ice Wyvren Stinger, unusual drop from Wyvrens in Cobalt Scar. These seem to be common of the Wyvren in the tower. *Artic Mussels, common ground spawn or forage in Eastern waste and Cobalt Scar. *Seahorse Scales, common drop on all sea horses in Sirens grotto, Kedge Keep, Etc. *Runed Seashell, are common drop from Sirens in Sirens grotto *Mind Melt, A high-end poison you can buy in the bazaar of Rogues
I think it is important to know that crowd control spells do not work on Berradin. He conned yellow to my level 40 paladin. But the thing that really makes him hard to take down is that he heals, and also casts Lay on Hands. My 40 paladin and a 51 druid kited this guy and four of his bodyguards, it took us almost an hour to kill them all! Good luck, whoever wants to fight Berradin and his crew!
