Just to be clear, Trydan Faye is NOT the PHer per se but is involved in spawning Rydda`Dar. Initiating the event occurs as follows.

Trydan Faye regards you indifferently -- You would probably win this fight..it's not certain though.

You say, 'Hail, Trydan Faye'

Trydan Faye says 'Hello my friend. I can see that you've journeyed far to come before me. You've passed your first task, but you have many more [Trials] to face before you can enter the Temple of Marr.'

You say, 'What Trials?'

Trydan Faye says 'There are three other Trials you must undergo before you can prove yourself worthy. When you're [ready] we'll begin the first Trial.'

You say, 'I am ready'

Trydan Faye despawns and A Custodian of Marr immediately spawns in his place and attacks.

Upon A Custodian of Marr's death, Rydda`Dar spawns and immediately attacks.

Upon Rydda`Dar's death, Trydan Faye immediately spawns but is not agroable, indifferent and will not react to hails.

I was skeptical I would be able to do it with a 70 paladin & 73 bst, but thought either I will kill it or it will kill me. FV server.

70 Paladin 1025 aa Elaborate Stalwart armor, cultural augs *70-74* + bazu augs, raid weapons and off-slots & 70 mercenary cleric / 73 Beastlord *BOX* 990 aa Gnollish Leather, raid weapons and off-slots, 72 wolfie *pet level increase earring focus effect* fully pet geared & 73 mercenary cleric. Paladin is lil over 22k fully buffed & 3.3 AC / BST is lil over 20k buffed & 2.6k AC.

Before I engaged I left BST mercenary on Efficent and my paladin mercenary on Passive. Used BST cleric till she went OOM then placed her over to Passive and switched paladin cleric to Efficent and casted paragon from BST. Once paladin cleric went OOM I switched back *bst cleric was roughly 60% by then*. 2 times Paladin got down below 10% waiting on cleric heal to go off.

Resisted slow & posion dot, disease dot & nukes would take but sometimes I had to re-cast. I left BST on her mount so she would have plenty of mana.

Straight meele fight as I resisted its AE or what ever it was trying to do. Fight lasted roughly 7 minutes and the mob enrages @ 10% and does not flee.

The dragon dropped BP Mold, Bow, Rune. I noticed BST took some damage from rampage but wolfie and clerics didnt.

I wont kill again less I get really bored. But good luck to the next person to.

When he died, the dragon spawned but did not agro us. We decided to med a bit and in about 20 secs the dragon despawned. Probably lucky we had a 70 WAR, 70 Chanter, 70 Druid and 68 Druid

Prior quote>>>IMPORTANT: the NPC you first engage is the placeholder for RD... she will pop in exactly the spot where he dies, and will immediately aggro whomever got the kill shot.

We did RD raid last night where PH had been pulled to corner of room and killed there. Immediately upon death of PH, RD popped in center of room (original location of PH).

Has this encounter been changed? or is it possible PH was too close to corner causing RD to warp on pop?

It would be useful to know if RD now always pops in center to keep casters out of AE range.

Happened last night: the mob warped out of the basement and started summoning people. Fortunately they only summoned me and one other Necro before warping back in... I FD-ed with 40% health after a few hits, the other Necro died, but there was no way for me to run back into the basement from the spot I was summoned to. Had to Gate out.

The below poster's tips are very good, but I'd like to suggest one change. At 10%, everyone should back off and instead of the MT killing the custodian, let a ranger do it. At 0% on the custodian he will hit his weaponshield disc which PARRIES EVERYTHING FOR 18 SECONDS. When RD spawns, she will attack him and he will parry all. Meanwhile, he flame licks the hell out of her, HUGE AGRO, while everyone debuffs. As soon as RD spawns, healers start spamming heals on the MT, nobody heals the ranger. After 10 seconds, the MT taunts the dragon, and the rangers insane agro is transferred to the tank. Ranger scrambles or goes down (/shrug). Now you have a fully debuffed RD on a tank with high agro. Agro will be high enough that casters can chain nuke as soon as MT gets RD off the ranger.
Rydda `Dar Tips
# Apr 14 2004 at 5:48 AM Rating: Excellent
38 posts
Considering how often Rydda `Dar seems to eat raids, one might think there is some highly complex strategy to this encounter and become easily frustrated... but there really is not. The following tips should make your raid much, much easier however:

IMPORTANT: the NPC you first engage is the placeholder for RD... she will pop in exactly the spot where he dies, and will immediately aggro whomever got the kill shot. Obviously, we want that person to be your MT. Everyone MUST get OFF the trigger NPC and allow the MT to finish him off. This is crucial. NO NUKES... you might crit and end up getting the kill. back off when the PH is down to 10% to be safe and let your MT get the last whacks.

As soon as the PH is dead, you will have a nasty dragon on your hands... and her DPS is almost godly...

The MT should immediately activate "Furious," and engage RD. This ability will automatically riposte almost every melee attack made upon your MT, and DRASTICALLY reduce the amount of damage he takes in the 12 seconds before "Furious" runs down. Since most RD raids wipe during this first 10 or so seconds (because the MT is slaughtered), this will allow us to get a few things happening...

After MT engages, an Enchanter must cast "Howl of Tashan" or whatever it is called on RD. This is a 100% non-resistable tash, and allows RD to be further debuffed. Once that has been done, the chanter (if he or she lives... hee hee) can join the healer camp and try to cast Rune buffs on the MT to further cut down on the dmg he takes. Watch your aggro as always.

MT should taunt with "Incite" as soon as possible... this again will buy a little time during the debuffing process, as well as get the MT nice and high on the hate list.

Have a PAIR of shammies ready to SLOW this beast just as soon as the chanter calls out "Rydda `Dar is TASHED." Remember... we have all of 12 seconds to both tash, and slow, this dragon. After that, the MT's "Furious" deal will run out, and he will then be taking every single hit RD dishes out. We absolutely MUST get her debuffed and slowed before that happens. Have 2 shammies both casting slows on RD... this doubles the chance that one will actually land. Also, if one happens to pull aggro for some reason and get whacked, another is still casting at same time. Trust me on this, just get this freak slowed ASAP. You may need to use DR slows if other types are still resisted after RD has been tashed.

Healers... do not wait for the MT to be hurt before you heal him. Start right in spamming the MT with every fast casting heal and heal over time that you have. Work out an order and keep a good rhythm going. Forget CHeals... 10 seconds cast time is too long. Have multiple Clerics doing fast heals instead. If your shammies live thru the debuffing process, they and other priests like Druids can also likewise spam your tank with heals and cures (RD procs a DD/DoT).

Do not worry too much about healer mana... this fight should not take very long. Just use your common sense. The biggest waste of mana would be 2 or 3 of you casting redundant heals on the same target. I can not say this enough: keep your healing chains ORGANISED. Tune out everything else going on about you and just work with the other healers.

Place at least one Bard in the healer camp, and start singing stuffs like "Elemental Chorus." We want to make sure none of the Clerics get hit too hard by the AE's from Rydda `Dar.

Place another Bard in between the caster camp, and RD... the idea here is to have the nukers run toward RD to nuke... coming into range of the Bard songs... and that way, being additionally protected so they can dump their mana. The nukers on this raid are important... they are going to be dishing out an enormous amount of very fast damage, which is a big key to winning this encounter. Keeping them alive can not be an issue for the healers... so our Bard(s) will give us a very nice alternative.

Rangers can engage well before the casters do.

Everyone TURN OFF RUN, and just walk. Click off any SoW or other run speed buffs. That way, if you are Feared, you will not go very far before you can quickly SIT DOWN until it wears off (which is fast... the Fear effect lasts for perhaps one tick).

To actually kill RD is pretty much to just engage with your plate clads first (when MT calls Assist), chain classes next, pets and leather classes a few seconds afterward, and then, casters last...

Do not nuke this mob before it is down to about 70%... which should not take long. Let the Rangers and other melee classes (and pets) do the initial damages. At 70%, and assuming you have enough blasters (you better..!), run toward your Bard (who should be singing MR and heal tunes, just like the bard in the healer camp) and get in range of RD... then just nuke your brains out. This is a "do or die" battle, so dump your mana bar. A Manaburn here is fine, but simply chain nuking with things like Strike of Solusek and Agnarr's Thunder will be just peachy. With enough of you nuking at same time, the aggro will balance in such a way as to keep RD constantly bombarded, trying to decide who to kill, and of course, not actually getting much chance to kill anyone at all. Use this to your advantage and blast her brains out.

Done efficiently, this entire battle should not last much longer than 2 minutes I should think, although I never have actually timed it. Maximise your DPS and keep your MT alive, and this trial is a done deal.

If you have even a half decent tank, a wizard can chain nuke Strike of Solusek from 85%... if you're worried about aggro, that's what concussion is for. 70% is rediculous, way too long for how short this fight is.

I love overly agressive Wizards... they're loads of fun to CR... assuming any of us survived after they blew the hate list by over-nuking.

Despite the common misconception about our class, Wizards are not here for sustained damage. We are here for DECISIVE, mega-blast damage. I leave the sustained DPS to classes who are better built for it. Rogues and Rangers come to mind... and they do a wonderful job of steadily dropping the Big Foozle's hp's.

Too many Wizards out there try to steal the show, and blast away like loonies with White Fire or SoS or what have you... and more often than not, they screw up the aggro list. How much they screw it up may not be readily apparent... just because the mob has not instantly whirled and attacked the Wizard often means nothing.

Concussion was not invented so that we Wizards could raid irresponsibly. It was created for emergency situations, such as when the MT goes down, and we're second on that hate list. For example, it helps your secondary grab aggro faster when he or she is rotated in to take over for the fallen. Give it a try..!!!

As for disagreements about this... well, those are inevitable. I've been building Wizards for years, and I have my ways of doing things... especially on raids where large numbers of folks are counting upon me not to screw up. Your own playing style may differ, of course.

Lastly, the best trick for not pulling wizzy aggro is to have LOTS of Wizards all nuking at once. The aggro balances better that way amongst multiple nukers. The game is simply a big number cruncher... use that knowledge to your advantage.

~ Kj

PS - Ezumin is correct... normal Concussion does not work on many PoP mobs, just as Call of the Hero likewise does not work in many PoP zones.

Woohoo to SOE for screwing up the game with the new patch, we were going to take him down tonight with 80 people (alot needed flags), so we were about 99% sure we were gonna beat him. Ok...custodian dies and RD spawns. Next thing we know the MT is warped to the zone in Smiley: banghead so the secondary tank takes over but since the walls are apparently not solid anymore the healers postitioned in the hallway to hide from AE get nailed by it, then he warpes into the hall, eats healers and proceeds to consume the rest of an almost unbeatable raid. /Rude SoE Smiley: disappointed

As far as I know, you can't hide from AE's in outdoor areas so it's no surprise healers got hit by it. And eventhough big numbers are helpful in killing RD fast, it doesn't guarantee a win (heard of several open raid attempts that had pretty decent numbers that failed). :)

Shamelessly stolen from http://www.eqgov.com/index.php?&section=history

When the great Crystalline Dragon Veeshan swiped her mighty claw across Norrath's surface, in what is now called Velious, She brought forth new life to a planet which had none. Infinitely wise, She created a being of her own likeness, that of a dragon. She placed her brood deep within these great valleys that were created by her mighty claws. This began the "Age of Scale".

Veeshan's children would be known as the First Brood, the oldest beings in existence. Her children were known as, Lord Yelinak, Zlandicar, Klandicar, Hsagra, Jaled'Dar, Illiandar, and Sontalak.

Millennia passed, and dragon kind prospered in relative peace and harmony with only two simple rules. Two dragons of different color shall not mate. And a dragon shall not kill another dragon. The inevitable happened, and two dragons of different color did mate. Their names are unknown, and those who do know would never speak of them again. The abomination that was produced by this un-natural union was named Kerafyrm. Upon awakening, Kerafyrm destroyed his parents and went on a rampage, killing much dragon kind. Kerafyrm, you see, was born insane; a direct reason that no two dragons of the same color could mate. Eventually Kerafyrm was imprisoned, and his name was not spoken again. He was simply known as "The Sleeper".

Soon after the great battle with Kerafyrm, Zlandicar, First Brood of Veeshan, had begun an infatuation that would soon be his downfall, the infatuation of death itself. Zlandicar became obsessed with the idea of eating the dead. Other dragons saw this as heresy, but he did not break any rule set forth by Veeshan, and could not be punished. Eventually, however, he went too far.

Jaled'Dar's brood was, appropriately, named the Dar Brood. And Jaled'Dar's second offspring was named Fraka'Dar. Zlandicar became obsessed with Fraka'Dar, he slaughtered and ate her. The dragons, unable to kill Zlandicar for his evil act, banished him from contact with other dragons, and sent him to the burial ground of dragons, Dragon Necropolis. And to this day, he sometimes can still be seen with the tiny talisman of Fraka'Dar.

Soon after the great shrine to Veeshan was constructed, known as "Skyshrine", the dragon kind split into two separate groups. The Dar Brood left Velious and ventured to the lands known as Kunark, where they formed the "Ring of Scale". The dragons who remained upon velious were known as the "Claws of Veeshan".

Two dragons of the Ring of Scale, Vox'Dar (a white dragon) and Nagafen'Dar (a red dragon) got the bright idea to create another dragon like Kerafyrm, control him, and rule the world. Before they could do this, the elders of the Ring of Scale banished them, and stripped them of their Brood names, so they became known as Nagafen and Vox. Vox was sent to the caves deep in permafrost, and Nagafen was banished beneath the lava pits of Lavastorm.

Trakanon, one of the wisest dragons, if not the wisest dragon to have ever been, had the gift (some would call it a curse) of foresight. He saw that the Iksar were destined to destroy the world! Trakanon pleaded with Jaled, leader of the Ring of Scale, to do something about the threat. The council of elders, of the Ring of Scale, decided to do nothing directly about the threat. Trakanon, and some of the younger dragons, decided to do something about them, their own way. Almost 2000 years before the elves rediscovered Kunark, Trakanon began his own war against the Iksar. They destroyed, and sunk the entire Iksar navy.

The elders of the Ring of Scale worked hard to punish, and imprison Traknon, and his followers, and war broke out among dragons. For many years dragons fought each other over the skies of Kunark. In the end, the elder dragons won, and imprisoned Trakanon and his followers for 600 years.

During this quarrel, the Iksar had amassed an army to overthrow the dragons of the Ring of Scale. Eventually, the two factions went to war with each other, and there was a great war, that lasted many years. The final battle of the war, between the First Brood Jaled'Dar, and emperor Ganak, took place in the sky over what is now the Field of Bone. In the end, both were destroyed, and to this day you can still see the bones of Jaled'Dar in the middle of the Field of Bone.

Jaled'Dar had seen many things in his life, and suffered more than anyone should suffer. He had seen the war against Kerafyrm, the murder of his daughter by Zlandicar, the exodus to Kunark, the betrayal of Trakanon, and the love of his daughter to the one who betrayed him, and finally, the assault of the Iksar.

He went insane. And to this day his soul rests, undying, in Dragon Necropolis, so that one day he can have revenge on those who tormented him. He plans to release Kerafyrm upon the world. You see, he was First Brood, he holds a key, along with the other first brood, to the Sleepers tomb.

Later, the dragons got their revenge upon the Iksar, destroying the Iksar palace, along with their new king, Chottal.

Trakanon was eventually released from their magical prison, and Trakanon saw the death and destruction that had happened while he was entombed. Phara, daughter of Jaled, and new ruler of the Ring of Scale, disowned Trakanon, blaming her father's death on him. Trakanon built his lair in the ruins of the Sebilisian empire, and locked the entrance with great magics.

Emporor Ganak, also unable to rest in peace gained the Key to the Ring of Scale stronghold, Veeshan's Peak, and to Trakanons Lair. Each of the 5 tribes of Iksar possessed a medallion for their leaders. And Ganak will give you the key to Trakanon's Lair for just 2 of these Medallions, and for the other 3, with proof that you've slain Trakanon, he will give you the key to Veeshan's peak.

Phara, and the leaders of the Ring of Scale, retreated to veeshan's peak, while sentries were placed upon Kunark, to watch for Iksar uprisings. These were Gorenaire, Talendor, and Severilous. One was also placed in the sea, to watch for attacks from the sea, this was Fayde, who was assigned to the Timorous Deep.

Life wasn't peachy for the Claws of Veeshan either… Rallos Zek's creation, the Giants, had settled down on velious. They made their home in the 3'rd valley made by the hand of Veeshan, they now call this Kael Drakkal. This was a holy place to the dragons, since all life sprang from within it.

The giants eventually invaded Skyshrine, killing many, many dragons and dragon kin. Hsagra, first brood, was killed in the battle by King Porlos, but not before she completed her greatest of anti-giant spells. Porlos made a throne out of Hsagra's skull, which is still used to this day by King Tormax.

The remaining members of the first brood, elders of the Claws of Veeshan, erected a new Temple in the Western wastes, in the 3'rd claw mark made by Veeshan, where dragon kin would live, far away from the giants.

Yelinak decided to stay in skyshrine, and guard the last outpost the Dragons held before the vast open plains. In the upper levels of Skyshrine, the halls are still empty, where the Claws of Veeshan once ruled from.

The duty of guarding the waterfront side of Skyshrine was given to one of the Ring of Scale members, Kelorek'Dar, who patrols the waters in the Cobalt Scar.

The Temple of Veeshan is defended from outside invaders in the wastes by two First brood members, Sontalak and Klandicar. Also in the wastes are Harla'Dar, and some members of the Sapara brood (Zil, Kar, Jen and Del)

Rumor has it that a liaison named Esorpa makes trips between Kunark and Velious, trying to reunite the Ring of Scale, and Claws of Veeshan.

History of the Guardians of Veeshan

This brings us to near the present day, and to the story of the Guardians of Veeshan. Veeshan herself saw that there was an intelligent race upon Norrath that worshipped dragon kind as if it were their heritage. Veeshan chose two Humans to be her liaison to the mortals. The humans chosen for this task were Kintyre'Sky and Heiken'Sky. Upon the choosing of these mortals, they were given the gift of immortality. The two ancients went on teaching the ways of Veeshan, forming an alliance known as the "Guardians of Veeshan".

Kintyre served as chief political officer, while Heiken served as martial, enforcing the laws of Veeshan. Kintyre appointed two Chancellors, Cyrus and Damon, who were to serve as his most trusted advisors.

Heiken also chose wisely for his advisors, Thalak Zhind, and Austen Dragoncreed were chosen as chancellors to Heiken'Sky.

Kintyre was a ranger by trade, and ventured far across the lands of Norrath, exploring the darkest dungeons, and the highest of mountain peaks. It is rumored that Kintyre has finally ascended to the plane of sky, where he sits upon the council of Veeshan herself.

Heiken was given the duties of Chief political officer of the Guardians of Veeshan, where he's ruled ever since. Heiken is a proud paladin, and defender of all that is Holy. To this day, he vows to protect the Guardians of Veeshan at all costs.

The two chancellors to Kintyre, Cyrus and Damon have not been heard from for many years, it is rumored that they were captured by the Kromrif, and are being held prisoner in Kael Drakkal, to punish Kintyre, who led many raids against the vile giants.

Thalak and Austen still roam Norrath, it is said, but the duties that were bestowed upon them have caused them to be somewhat reclusive. Some say they have seen Thalak roaming the grassy lands between the Halfling city of Rivervale, and the Human city of Freeport. Austen, however, is a bit less reclusive, following the healing arts and spreading the word of Veeshan to Norraths younger population.

The ancient mortal, Heiken, had initially appointed Thalak as Martial of Veeshan, but Thalak was not empowered with immortality, like his friend Heiken. Soon after, Thalak stepped down as Martial, and Enyil Runefyre, Thalak's half brother was appointed the position.

Time moved on and Enyil grew increasingly insane, possibly due to his magical studies. Enyil had a falling out, and left the Guardians of Veeshan, to serve a dark and sinister sect.

Dolby Mithrael, the most loyal of the Guardians of Veeshan was given the task of martial. Dolby has provided very wise and level headed advice over the years, and as martial of the Guardians of Veeshan, he has done his job with great pride and respect becoming of a Paladin.

Other Chancellors were chosen, and with them other officers to the chancellors were appointed. These include Daender Silverwood, Luha Luwalhati and Brutusk Bloodbone as Chancellors, due to their increased leadership, and loyalty. The officers chosen to assist Heiken are Nevrotix Soulsaver, and Sargeras Gudluvin, who have given nothing but pure love and loyalty to the Guardians of Veeshan.

Many years had passed, the Guardians of Veeshan prospered, and the healing powers of Heiken'Sky had penetrated the deep magical scars within Enyil, and he once again became loyal to the Guardians of Veeshan, though no special privileges or rights would be granted to him, due to his previous insanity.

This now brings us to the present day, where the Ring of Scale, Claws of Veeshan, and Guardians of Veeshan are making peace with each other, and attempting to bring peace and unity to all dragon kind, and dragon worshipers.

Had 66 try to take him down yesterday. The mistake was, he wasn’t debuffed and slowed. No one could land spells on him until he was tashed (took a few times to get him tashed). Once he was tashed it was too late, we were almost all dead because MT went down. 66 people dead in about 45-50 seconds, and he was at 50+-% health.

Max hit - 2060
AE fear, snare (magic resist check)
Single target proc that does an unknown amount of damage.

I had 8504 hp's buffed at the time, got hit for just over 2k, then his proc hit me and I was dead. The message will read, "You feel bogus as an unknown spell crosses you." or something like that (I got this message two times). Bogus is right... No damage was shown in spam chat window, just me = dead.

Debuff him asap, because if you can't slow him or land any spells, your going to wipe... and wipe fast.

Edit:
Also, I dont know why they dont re-do his drop's... they suck bad. As hard as he can be, his drops should be much better.

But you need have GOOD Tank(like always), GOOD healer sqaud(like always), GREAT debuffers(always good but not always needed), GREAT slowers(like always).. ANd for the Gods sake watch out for that nasty rampage and you can take HER DOWN

If I'm not totally mistaken, I believe that higher level mobs can resist unresistable spells.. they have a certain % chance of resisting a spell regardless of what it is... I' not 100% sure of this however, as i dont cast too many unresistable spells during said raid encounters :)

Keep in mind... just because a spell is unresistable, doesn't mean that a mob still can't resist it... let's take a spell from Dungeons and Dragons as an example... hmm... Magic Missile... It's a level 1 spell that hits the target for 2-5 damage... no saving throw allowed = no resistance... HOWEVER... There is a monster with Spell Resistance... Which means that there is a chance that a spell may have a chance of being resisted, regardless of whether or not it has a resist of its own.... IE: A mob can resist an unresistable spell... it's just probably really really rare.

Disclaimer: I know that this is D&D I'm using as an example and it's not the same engine for determining resists, however, we still are not fully aware of how mobs look at spells and resists.... Ergo, this is possibly one thing you should take into consideration. Try using Tash on the Black Reavers in CoM... i think they're highly, almost immune, to magic... maybe try Emp in Ssra? Just an idea, not saying they are immune to it... just hear they have ubah resists.

Have you ever had Memblur resisted?

You don't get a message from it but you usually find out...

Tash is "unresistable" but if you keep your eyes open for the tash effect -- you can see that tash sometimes takes 2+ casts to "work".

Example: 3 shaman working on slowing a MOB. Tash -- all resisted. Tash -- all resisted. Tash. Suddenly their slows start to work.

Tash -- nukes are not working well -- re-tash, nukes are hitting.

I've used tash up to 4 times on a mob (yeah it's aggro hell sometimes. other times not so bad).

Just timing luck? Doubt it when it's happened with the frequency that I've witnessed... I always get the "...blinks..." message but the EFFECT that is expected doesn't seem to follow quite often.

You NEVER get a failure message on it. Over the life of EQ there have been spells that work backwards, don't work at all, etc... for a time as BUGS. Some are "reduced" and the like as well without adjusting the messages -- sometimes for a VERY long time. Tash seems to be one such spell.

"I never get resisted..." Odds are you have been but just didn't notice.
RE: Our raid
# Jun 21 2004 at 10:51 AM Rating: Decent
Memory Blur has a percentage chance to work. So even if the mob doesn't resist the spell, it doesn't mean the desired effect will happen.

The Tash line of spells are different. They drop target's MR by X amount. Unresistable.

I've cast spells and had them resisted by level 1 rats twice in a row. I've had slows stick on mobs I could have swore I had to tash first to even have a chance. Bottom line is, the RNG is a fickle beast.

To clear this all up... whether unresistable spells are really unresistable... the answer is yes they are. If you remember the GM event with all the skeles not long ago they were SK's. All of them (lowest lvl ones excluded) HTed (harm touched for the noobs out there =D). is you look at the info on HT (http://www.allakhazam.com/db/spell.html?spell=2774) you will see it listed as "unresistable" yet i resisted their HT quite a bit of times. Thought id clear that up.

-Corner Tanking can cause Rydda to get aught on the pillar and despawn, either fight her in the middle, or make sure your MT doesn't die
-Hits hard, proc is random, cheal chain is not the best bet
-pets help insanely here, BUT do not charm mobs from rydda's room, they depop when rydda pops
-try to get a pet on rampage, if not, keep a good amount of healers watching the ramp tank
-All out DPS, give it hell
-The AE doesn't do damage, it is fear, slow, snare
-the proc does do damage and a sh*tload of it, some rounds can be over 6k damage on the tank, cheal not always gonna hit on time
-kill the custodian of marr where you want rydda to spawn
Small Strat

Heres a quickie on this guy.

Minimum 60 Players 4+ Need to be enchanters 10 Clerics.

When going to the NE where you figh this guy grab a Walrun Guard for all chanters that can take one along. Keep them Snared or you get a dead chanter. So get a Ranger on Root Snare duty on these bad boys.

Set Druids on RT Healing Shaman on Raid Healing and Dotting. Dual CH Lines on your MT/ST cause hes going to eat tanks. Make sure you keep the MT at MAX MEELE RANGE so he can keep the Clerics out of the AE, Need 2 Bards 1 in MT Group 1 in ST Group

Set your Walruns around the center kill the SOV in the center. Keep him away from the Clerics and Send in the Shaman to slow him Debuffs are a must hes very resistant.

Here we go:

Max hit: 2060, quads, High ATK rating ( almost always lands a hit, at least on me 65 monk with CA3 and usually 1350AC ).

3k DD Proc.

He Fears, usually instantly after being engaged.

His Rampage is insane, mostly because of how hard he hits. I reccommend a group of healers just to watch rampagers.

He didn't seem to have too too many HP as on our first attempt we were expecting about 1.4k max hit and hot that insane. But in just a few sseconds ( less than a minute ) he was at 83% at complete wipe. Main DPS was the 7 rangers we had lined up all 65 AM3 EQ on trueshot disc.

This guy is rough, but if you have the healing power he shouldn't be that hard, we tried him with only 5 clerics and it didn't work too well.

tips on this fight?...

have at least 2 bards playing elemental chorus for the whole fight. Otherwise casters and melee get eaten fast by his ae. He's a tough fight for non elemental guilds, but very do-able. Fast slow is a must.

Depends on the guild. If you can kill Rydda, you can kill Tallon Zek, and he drops a RNG only bow (Warmasters Bow or something)that is better... Also, a lot of people have multiple high level characters and raid with more than one of them (2 boxing or just switching off etc) and many guilds don't differentiate between "mains" and "alts" because both characters are making a valid contribution to the raid.

#dartartaion, Posted: Feb 07 2004 at 1:26 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) personally i think the bow is definatly good but i 2wouldnt trade it for my SW just mo contest there so if some one can get an alt ranger to loot it Great but m,ost rangers i know at lvl 65 have elemental bows and they are hard to beat

Rydda is a beast, 2060 max hit, 0.5 or something crazy like that delay, dishes out simply INSANE damage, procs a 3k DD, AE fears, etc. All in all, he's one of the hardest mobs pre-elemental planes. When we killed him for first time, we used about 60 people.

Just so that everyone knows, he spawns at the point wher ethe triger mob dies (so try to pin trigger mob in corner). On the death of the trigger mob all mobs in THAT room despawn and the last person to hit RD has aggro (sometimes though he seems to pick off a poor soul for no reason though, hehe). That means if you want a charmed pet get in from the next room. As for a strat, LOADS of DPS and 2 cleric chains on one tank. Other then that, pray. He deals insane dmg and dotn even try to have a charm pet tank since it will last about 5 to 10 secs then he runs around killing everyone.

RD hits very hard, and needs to be slowed before you do something foolhardy like get near him with a tank.

Procs a big DD and slow which your MT needs to resist. Need a low delay CHC. Rampage is deadly, you need to control it. AE fear, everyone useful needs to resist it.

This is the basic strategy without the detail.

There is, unfortunately, little stragetgy to this mob (that I can see, correct me if you know something I do not).

Like much of PoP, you are unable to hide from AE (ie. walls do nothing). However as a bard singing Psalm of Veeshen, I was not effected by it at all. The mob does rampage as I recall, though not very often. His melee damage is truly fearsome, but he has relatively few hitpoints. Its a throw everything you have at him at the beginning of the fight and just bring him down. The longer this type of fight goes the less chance you have of making it out alive.

He is like Aerin'Dar just meaner and without the adds.

If your going to kill this mob with a small raid (24 to 42) you'll need to get it right.

So don't bring 24 to 42 people. Throw a kegger and see who all shows up. Tell them the dragon is holding the tap to the keg and see how long he lasts. How's that for strategy?

7th Hammer's Forged Souls just became the second guild on server to drop this beast. It's a tremendous fight requiring MEGA offense since the dragon does absolutely astounding damage with melee (hit me 1300 several times in a blink) as well as his rampages and two nasty AOE's. Took several attempts due to the sheer nature of the battle and needing to really plan our getting our forces amped for it - using the full raid featured 72 players. Picture this: Rydda'Dar is probably double the difficulty of Aerin'Dar (without the adds of the latter). I havn't heard my team woot so much since probably our first AoW slaying.

Eww, sick dude! But in response to your post, first, KErafyrm is indeed a 'he.' I read a log from some post where a guy talked to this one dragon who described the story of Kerafyrm (I posted a bunch of info on Kerafyrm in his section a few days ago, as of 1/31/03, might still be right up front). Kerafyrm was made when two dragons of opposite elemental alignments mated. They weren't named, but almost everyone thinks that it was Vox and Nagafen. And by the way, that dragon you were describing from the Plane of Valor is named Aerin'dar.
Sorry to be nit-picky, but hope this helps at all. And one more thing, what exactly are you sick and tired of? Lol

Indeed Darth is a title indicating a Dark Lord of the Sith. However I don't think the Dar on these dragons is a title, but more of a family or brood name (not necesarily a "surname") (hence the Dar Brood).

I read somewhere, likely one of the class boards, that the 'Dar is a title as opposed to a family name. In essence they are the second brood dragons. Another part of the story are Nagafen and Vox were stripped of the 'dar title for trying to bring the Sleeper back.

Actually, Kerafyrm is the child of Lord Nagafen and Lady Vox. That is why they were banished and imprisoned.

Who knows if Kerafyrm even has a gender (I guess only dragons can tell the difference), but hey, that doesn't mean they can't screw around, pun intended.
But on another note, Kerafyrm is supposed to be the ultimate threat not just to Norrath, but to the gods themselves. Veeshan forbade dragons to mate because the offspring would be too powerful. Vox and Nagafen, however, broke the rules, and Kerafyrm was the result. SO Veeshan put it in a state of torpor and sealed it inside a tomb with the four Warders to keep it blowing Z's. Obviously, though, she could've picked better guards.
That's kind of the story in a nutshell. It's probably wrong, but you get the idea.

[Sun Sep 29 22:48:05 2002] Jortreva the Crusader lifts her wings in a graceful motion as she lowers her chin to eye Ironhand in greetings, ''I am Jortreva, Crusader of Veeshan. I am the ear to the whispers upon the shadows and the eyes to witness the tainted footsteps of our enemies that corrupt our path. Your kind, the second generation of the lesser gods' creation, have brought us into being as we are now -- for that, we hold neither gratitude nor contempt. It is your actions that have sent us spiraling through an umbra of immeasurable danger that could secure the destruction of all upon this world, but it shall be through the undying efforts of the [champions] that we may have some chance to ward this darkness back into the oblivion it strives to create.''
[Sun Sep 29 22:48:25 2002] You say, 'What are champions?'
[Sun Sep 29 22:48:25 2002] Jortreva the Crusader says ''We are four elemental dragons bred to be champions among our people -- within this world. We do not seek recognition or praise from either world -- yours or that of Veeshan's brood -- but we seek to protect and maintain the balance that keeps our worlds separate, yet unified upon the same plane of existence. When Kerafyrm was first placed into stasis by our predecessors, the elemental warders, the [council] ordered the arranged breeding of what would be the warders' replacements when the time came for their stations to ascend. However, the unpredicted actions of the second generation have thrown us into a new role -- the role of Crusaders.'''

Immediately our ancestors realized the need for our kind to be of sound unification if we were to prevail and remain the superior beings upon what is rightfully our world. As we watched the eras pass through both the second generation and our own cultures, the members of the council changed. Eventually, one known as Kildrukaun would be appointed Arch Priest of Veeshan through divine rite and ceremony -- a sacred part of our institution that I shall not divulge to one as yourself. His first decree would be to condemn the unification of souls between dragons whose elemental influences were of opposition. It was of his belief, and thus the belief of the council, that such a union was against Veeshan's will and would have dire consequences upon the entire dragon nation. Time would pass again before [fate] would descend upon Kildrukaun's decree.'''

[Sun Sep 29 22:48:47 2002] You say, 'What fate?'
[Sun Sep 29 22:48:47 2002] Jortreva the Crusader says ''Two dragons of opposite elemental powers confronted the council with their desire to mate. Kildrukaun immediately dismissed any blessing and ordered the dragons from ever fulfilling their desires. These two were young still and very headstrong, regarding the council and its rules to be outdated when considering the growing influence and power of the second generation. They fled to unknown corners of Norrath and there, they bound their souls in a sacred union that would forge the first prismatic dragon. When knowledge of this event came to the council, Kildrukaun, a being of great wisdom and calm heart for regard of his own people looked upon the prismatic's creation as that of Veeshan's will, for conceivably unto him, only Veeshan herself could defy her great priest's rule. The council was in agreement and the hatchling, who would be named Kerafyrm, the Prophetic Savior, was allowed to continue existence under close watch that would be [governed by Kildrukaun himself].'''
[Sun Sep 29 22:48:53 2002] You say, 'How was it governed by Kildrukaun himself?'
[Sun Sep 29 22:48:53 2002] Jortreva the Crusader says ''Although Kildrukaun was inspired and intrigued by Kerafyrm's existence, he was wary still for he had yet to be witness to the true intent of Veeshan's will. In this time, the dragon nation had split and were in opposing power -- the Ring of Scale whom fled their native Velious for Kunark, and the Claws of Veeshan, the original order and council of dragon kind. It was known that Kildrukaun was furious with the recent division and he strongly believed that it was Veeshan's will for the dragon nations to reunite once again, lest they become as weak and pitiful as the second generation. He viewed Kerafyrm to be the road that would guide the dragons to unification, although it was a unification that would be borne of an unknown purpose that Kerafyrm served. Kildrukaun never interacted with the young prismatic dragon, but served as the dictator behind his mentors. Eventually, Kerafyrm would rise to a power unseen within any dragon of his still fledgling age and Kildrukaun's [prophecy] would be born.''
[Sun Sep 29 22:48:59 2002] You say, 'What Prophecy?'
[Sun Sep 29 22:48:59 2002] Jortreva the Crusader says ''Kildrukaun was of the mind that Kerafyrm was meant to lead the dragon nation in a civil war -- the Claws of Veeshan invading the great mountain fortress known as Veeshan's Peak that the Ring of Scale had established. He was certain that his campaign would unify the dragons and this was nothing less than the will of Veeshan herself. The council dismissed Kildrukaun's prophecy, exclaiming that although they must find a way to bring the Ring of Scale back under the wing of the elder council, they could not wage a war and abandon the threat of Kael Drakkal. Kildrukaun was furious, although he did not confront the council directly. Over the passing centuries, he would sway three of the [council elders] to his side and would personally oversee Kerafyrm's final stages of growth. Eventually the time would come when the council would [recognize their mistake] in allowing Kerafyrm to exist and their order for his termination would be the greatest impact in their destiny.''
[Sun Sep 29 22:49:13 2002] You say, 'What council elders?'
[Sun Sep 29 22:49:13 2002] Jortreva the Crusader says ''When dragon kind was accompanied upon this world by the lesser god's intrusion, the council of elders was formed. [Sun Sep 29 22:49:48 2002] You say, 'How would the recognize their mistake?'
[Sun Sep 29 22:49:48 2002] Jortreva the Crusader says ''Kerafyrm quickly ascended the ranks within the Claws of Veeshan and eventually became our most powerful general. He led several successful campaigns against the rising threat of the giants of Kael and his influence grew among the elders of the council. However, something dark grew within him -- his bite became venomous and his talon ruthless in its command over his troops and allies. Eventually, his dominion and influence was nothing short of a monstrous creature of pure malignant hatred and an unrivaled lust for destruction and chaos that the council had no other choice but to demand his destruction -- a rule that Kildrukaun was present to hear and deceitfully condone. Shortly thereafter, Kildrukaun and four council elders whom the arch priest had managed to sway with his charismatic diplomacy and sound argument of his prophecy flew to Kerafyrm's side, where the four of them made preparations for the inevitable [war] to come.'''

Kerafyrm's legions were severely outnumbered by those of the elder council, but time and time again they displayed their awesome strength and power. Eventually, Kerafyrm was restrained and taken to what would be his place of indefinite slumber. The four traitorous elders fled Velious safely to unknown locations, where they would lay in wait until the time came that Kerafyrm would be released. After centuries of hiding, the Ancients have returned and they now have a near unbreakable hold upon the former tomb of their master, where again they lay in wait -- anticipating the arrival of their master and the time to execute the undoubtedly phenomenal plan that will [bring about the extinction of all great existence] upon Norrath if they are successful.'''

Sure sounds like Vox and Naggy to me, young (55 as opposed to majority of them over 57) dragons with opposite elemental powers (fire and cold bout as opposite as you can get). Don't know why people dispute this.....

Vox and Naggy were banished because they tried to repeat the process and create a 2nd sleeper, this is after the sleeper was imprisoned.
