just killed him 7th time, over a span of about 6 week, dropped 2 15% alchemy orbs. Had not dropped one before, but 2 at once this time, after server re-pop.
Nice little item even in 2010 with the new Alchemy stuff.
Went in with my 90 necro and 90 shammy. Had tank merc on necro and healer on shammy. Pets and tank had him down and dead in less than 5 mins and then took out the 2 adds. Shammy never had to cast a heal. Found he seemed to die faster if I did not slow him and let damage shields work to their fullest. Killed 3 times in past 2 weeks. No orb for shammy. Spawn time appears to be the 48 hour plus or minus 6 hours schedule. We are camped in a corner of the room and drop in every 2 days or so to see if he is up. Consistently get one add each time I log in. Very resistent to spells so that the pet has to tank him down. If we port out to do something else it takes about an hour for the two of us to fight our way back in. I estimate that there are about 80 mobs between the ZI and his spawn point if you take the most direct route. He does stand in front of the clickie to the third floor.
The post by CheesySnax had me a little worried saying he was a 1400 hitter, but I guess level 80 and having a post-Solteris bard tanking trivialized that.
Took an 80 bard (uber) and 80 mage (non-raiding) a little over 15 minutes to kill this fellow. Took two of the new healing potions is all. I don't recall the AE ever landing; I'm sure it didn't. When I was 75, VT enemy AC was still high enough to make my pet's damage output suck, but with the super new SoF pets they have no trouble with Vex Thal AC'd enemies anymore.
Of course clearing IN to any of the named in VT with only two people still takes freaking forever even if the bosses only take 15 to 20 minutes. At least bards have enough lockpick skill to deal with the doors now; don't have to drag a rogue and healer along. =)
Highest Hit seems to be around 1400. He is slowable easily with Malos. Use Turgur's (51 slow). He has a lot of HP and he seems to have very high AC since none of my hits were landing for much damage. He casts Wizard spells as he is a Wizard. He mainly chain cast Immobilize on the Cleric and Shaman, which made his DPS a lot less than it would be otherwise. His AE isn't a problem since he doesn't use it much. We pushed him into a corner by the orb he's standing by, and had the Shaman and Cleric shrunk standing by the orb. It shielded against the AE, but the little wall they hid behind isn't big enough for more than 2 or 3 people, really, but we stuck them there and they were fine. It's hard to explain where they hid... So I made a crapy diagram.

Killed with 5: 70 Beastlord, 65 Cleric, 65 Shaman, 65 Warrior, 66 Necromancer. No one had any Time or Elemental equipment. I think the fight was 1 hour and 40 minutes or so, but at 4 in the morning no one was keeping track. Warrior died once due to a missed heal, but the Beastlord tanked until he was rezzed again. He didn't seem to AE more than once or twice. Dropped Cerulean Sleeves, Umbral Vambraces, Twilight Shroud, and Ancient: Bane of Nife.
Edit: Well, he's dead again. Same force, but this time Shammy missed a slow... Bst and War died quickly. Shammy reslowed and tanked until the Warrior was rezzed. Warrior got virt, and resumed tanking. Necro rezzed Beast and we were back in the fight. One thing I noticed, he seemed to AE more this time. Umbral Vambraces, Umbracite Swarm Orb, Dagger of Thought, Ancient: High Priest's Bulwark.
this mob is gimp, killed him with 8 people, 3 being boxed, he AE'd about 3 times at the beginning of the fight, then ran out of mana so it was a pretty simple fight
Wizard. Can be mindwracked. Been tanked by bards. AC causes him to take 65% more damage than Thall Va Kelun. 127 melee DPS slowed. Casts wizard spells. Can AE black winds. Due to this, fight should take 52% as long as Thal Va Kelun, the mob I'm comparing this to here. Name means something like 'Master of the Knowledge'. He stands in front of what I believe is the clicky over to floor 3.
