All you have to do to find the real VZ is type "/target Vallon_Zek00" he is always the first to spawn giving him the 00 behind his name.

Tried to kill him today and found out a few tips to finid the one that will split on ya. 1 only the one that splits will rampage. 2 the one that splits cannot be slowed

Okay so I agro'ed him beat him halway down and he split off into 5 in the center. Please note that if you kill the real one he will spawn 5 more in the center. There was 4 or 5 waves I'm not sure which because I was randomly picking mobs to kill and triggered around 13 over them, they killed my merc twice and me once but I manged to come back and finish them all off. So keep coming back if you wipe.

Last night a 75 beast lord and i did this little fight. It was surprisingly very easy, just one wave after another, no need to med in between. Now, unfortunately, when the 4th wave popped i had to get going. I cant seem to find out if perhaps we were just slow killing them? are they timed? is it 3 waves ? I'm guessing not, all though one post i read said so, then another saying 4. Can anyone confirm how many waves? Other then that, I'm a 75 pally, COA/DPOB geared, i was never in any danger at any time while i tanked all 5 at a time per wave, basically my ward of Tunare spell soaked up any damage by healing me, after we killed the 3rd wave i still had 40 percent mana, so another couple waves wouldn't have been out of the question. DPS would definitively been welcome though lol.

curious.

How did a shaman solo it?

5 pop, you find the real one. When he dies, 5 others pop. repeat 2 more times.

Generally, folks kill off the fake ones, then the real one so they can deal with the next wave of 5, or else they will end up with a total 4 rounds, where a real one, and 4 fakes are adding every round.

If solo,
how is it done?
If you take them all out each round, then the real one, thats 5 mobs beating on you. "if" you can survive it, the med time afterwards would be too long and the next 5 will despawn.

If you only kill the real one each round, that would mean your fights increase exponentially, ending with 16 fakes beating on you while you are trying to take down the real one.


And then, you still have the room respawns happening the whole time the fight is.

I may be thinking of Tallon Zek, but I doubt it. Anyway, Vallon Zek is soloable by Necromancers. This may be so, but the only ones I have seen doing it are Anguish+ and 1000 AAs+. I'm also pretty sure, what makes the necromancer able to complete this task is the ability to feign death and still do nearly full damage. I am not trying to hold any secrets, other than names of those who have soloed Vallon (I have yet to complete this task), but the strategy is simple; You cast DoTs and FD, DoT and FD, lifetap when needed, don't snare, rinse and repeat until one or the other dies.

I really think the rarity of this VZ's drops should be changed to:

Furious Hammer of Zek - Very Rare
Girdle of the Tactician - Very Rare
Obsidian Scimitar of War - Rare
Pendant of the Triumphant Victor - Common
Resplendent War Maul - Common

That's how it was in my experience at least. I've raided VZ almost as many times I've been in failed RZtheWarlord attempts, but the cleric hammer's only drop once. What stunk was that the one of the pet clerics of the guild gobbled it up, even though he has all the good gear, gets all the good group, and couldn't possibly use it for anything but showing off.

i have done this with paladin/druid/druid/bard
(VT/ikkinz gear)

standard one group setup would be:

warrior/paladin with 8khp, shaman/chanter, bard, fill in dps here, fill in dps here, fill in dps here

*note: this event despawns if you leave the vallons sitting there too long (i'll say 15 minutes, it hasn't happened to me for over a year), or don't kill the real one within a timeframe

lets assume your in the only safe corner in VZ's room by now. let your bard pull vallon zek, standard mob killing procedure, slow dps heal etc., think he hits around 800 if i remember correctly, then VZ should depop around 60-70%, cant remember, and split into 5 in the middle of the room. Have your bard go out and kite all the vallons in a big circle, trying not to agro the ogres. (careful, dont stop they run **** fast and will own you if your not careful or lagging, and no selos indoors.) If the bard dies have someone pull the bards corpse to the stairs nearest the group, and when rezzed, leave 1 item on the corpse, and have the cleric cast 0% rez on the corpse on each kite the bard does, so if he gets in trouble (and cant DA!)he can take the rez and wipe agro, and use it to split since he will be out of mana after dying) Have someone designated in your group to target the real vallon zek and keep his target. (REAL VZ RUNS FASTER THAN THE OTHERS AND CASTS, YOU CAN CLEARLY TELL WHICH ONE IS REAL)
once someone has the real one targetted, have your bard FM the mobs (not on your group!) and assist the person targetting the real one, (the group assist main tank leader AA really helps to distinguish between the 5, if you have it its a +) and start kiting them again, cast harmony of the sound on the real one, and single target snare song on him after that, once hes snared, get *enough* distance, i cant tell you how much really, between the real one and the 4 fakes, FM(or take rezbox) and try to grab him solo from the rest of the pack, (use your bard to pull) if he agroes the others just FM (or take rezbox, you may need to die if its about time for the old corpse to graveyard if you died earlier.) Have someone pull your new corpse if you died to the old rez-box spot. Once the real Vallon Zek is solo pulled into your camp, just kill him he is no harder than a kriger in BoT. After the real one from the pack of 5 is dead, 5 more will spawn in the middle of the room. Have your cleric rez-box your bard, have your bard DA into the old 4 VZs and pull them into the corner on the other side of the stairs opposite your group (Very first Vallon's left.) and take rezbox. If they are with the new 5 vallons, its ok youll just be kiting 9 instead of 4, be much more cautious. Split him in the same way and when you get him solo, make sure you either have the other 4 away from the middle, or have your bard dump them into the corner before the Vallon you are killing is dead. Do the Split/Kill/Dump process about 5 times i *think* and you'll have beaten the event, the last "real" vallon has loot on it.

CoH will clear the agro from a player IF the player is 200 cordinates away OR MORE. otherwise CoH will not clear agro.

If you mean on track, then I believe the reason RZ is lower level than VZ or TZ it's cause that is not the final RZ that you fight in the Pit. The Pit RZ is level 75.

Yes, to be more specific... RZ the "fake" RZ who stands on the balcony (and triggers the "real" RZ) is named Rallos Zek. The "real" RZ who spawns in the pit is named Rallos Zek the Warlord. [Fake = RZ = take him down to approx 30% he poofs and triggers RZTW. Real = RZTW = kill him to get A Planar Projection to spawn and hail for your flag]

i am a 65 shammy when i summon my lowest pet buff him up real good and just him in to one of the Vallon zeks the other won,t assist so pet attack pet follow /pet hold



ull get em single can,t heal the pet while pullign will be attempting VZ with 4 people in a sec stay tuned

I have been trying to kill RZTW with my guild now for about a month. Many of you have figured out TZ and VZ are now unsplitable...and guess what...the adds that come with them after you kill the TZ/VZ triggers DO NOT RESPOND TO AGGRO!

Thats right. I snared some one of the mobs 5 times and didnt even get aggro when they were at 99% life.

I think this gameplan will work:

3 tanks needed. Tank one on TZ (have him face TZ towards the wall or away from the raid). Tank 2 on RZ with sufficient healage. Tank 3 on adds that come with TZ/VZ. Have enc keep other adds mezzed while tank 3 and the other 69 people in the guild kill the adds ASAP. This gives Tanks 1 and 2 time to build aggro, and really, it shouldnt take 69 people more than a minute or two to kill 4 - 6 adds (I think its originally 4 adds, but one or two of them split into two mobs).

Let me know if this works, please.

My guild had been trying this new encounter since OoW first came out we prolly attempted it 6-7 times with no success. The best we got was TZ to 12% and VZ to 78% the AE of the 2 of them eats the casters alive significantly cutting DPS so even if you do manage to kill one your major raid force is dead. They supposedly fixed the encounter today but when we gathered in zone to attempt him he was not up.

one grouped him the one that drops loot and spawns elemental for flag is lvl 63 we had 11k tank buffed 1 cleric 1 druid 1 shammy (me) 1 rog 1 nec moastely time exept for me :)
i single pulled them all with the pet trick (summoning a lvl 29 pet buff him up rune and attack then back off the other zek,s won,t assist hits for around 800 like a bot giant with a bit more hp dropped scimar and necklace for us

Heh, did this as a lvl 62, and they ALL conned yellow. (Tactics flagged since 54 :p)

Do you really think SOE would just tell you which one is the real one? There is no way they would let him con red while the rest con blue to a 65.

downed today on Drinal with 68 peps, was open raid so it was quite overkill, had 4 monks work the fakes to make sure that we knew which was which, then we had MT(named agro) aagro the real VZ and then we would monk split the fakes and kill them off one by one, it was very fast and easy. Dropped 4SP, 1GRW and Belt and Sword.

yes i did it tonight i killed this guy with a friend who farms him we did it very easily with 8 people, sence vz cant be tracked its easy to keep ur spawn time a secret and wipe him every 3 days till u get the drops u want

I heard that he was killed regualarely by 6-9 people. So regularely that they are "farming" him. None of these, between 6 and 9, people are elemental geared. Is this even possible? please do tell =)

Havent seen anyone mention this yet. The real VZ is faster than his clones. So you kill the real VZ then when his copys spawn you get a monk or something to aggro them all. Then run around untill the real VZ is out of assist range from the copys. Then you can choose to pull and kill the four copys, or you can pull the real VZ and kill him and keep splitting him from the newly spawned copys as above. Another note is that of the copys one is always mezzable (you have to figure out by casting on them all) so you only need to tank three at a time. Forgive me if he has been changed and my information invalidated, it has been a while.

This encounter is relatively simple if you have the force.
Basically move youre raid force to a corner, pull VZ. Once VZ is dead 5 gimper versions of him will pop in center of room, use a monk / rogue / nec / eye to have 5 tanks /assist so they each have one, pull them all at the same time and have a tank on each, have everyone assist MT till all are dead, repeat, takes 10 or so mins tops.

I just Backstabed this guy and ran and lived! I 65 rogue with SoS and escape snuck up behind him and BSed clicked my couter disk and then escaped. he hit me a total of 3 times all for under 1k His DoT did almost get me but I clicked my new Healing disc and sat down. Disc kept me alive long enough for DoT to fade. Not many can say they BSed a god solo and lived.

I've only assisted in killing this mob once, so some of this info may be wrong or mixed up. If so please forgive me.

2-3 groups could do this mob, more for extra DPS or bodies is nice.

Once you get into the room, head to one of the corners, the room mobs spawn on a 20 min or so timer so you probably will have to clear the room unless you do it fast or brute force see below.

VZ he does an AE curse (which didn't seem to be cured with RC1, but I might be wrong - as well as I tried a number of remove curses and cures. RC1 did cure it the last fight, but the cleric may have RC3’d also). When you get VZ down to about 80% (not sure the %) and he despawns and respawns in the middle of the room with 4 'fakes' they are all full health and can only tell them apart from the damage they deal 2-300's vs 8-900's.

There are 4 options I see to kill them when they pop in the middle (if you killed them in the corner they wont agro you right off so you have time to rezz, heal, buff, med).

Option 1 pull them apart (not sure how, monk FD, pathing?) if you can pull 1-3 of them its not as bad as dealing with the real one with 4 others, pull them into the corner, trying to save the real one for last as once the real one is killed 4 more with the real one will spawn in the middle again).

Option 2 pull from the middle and have enchanters mezz them (not sure if they are mezzable, but think so). you want at least 4 enchanters and assistance to keep them alive to best do this.

Option 3 Pull from the middle and kill the horde, need good DPS and good organization as it can be easy fighting 5 mobs for people to drop, though they don't hit real hard.

Option 4 This is for the crazy's (IMHO) fight them in the middle, you need to be very organized and somewhat lucky to be able to kill them, with this option you will get no rest time inbetween kills, but if you can do it then you will get the fight over fast (one way or another).

After you kill the first one and they pop in the middle, him and 4 ‘fakes’ will pop in the middle. After you kill the ‘Real one’ him and 4 more fakes will spawn in the middle (you can kill the 4 fakes and leave him for last, or kill him first and have 8 fakes and him to deal with (again they spawn in the middle of the room and the sides don’t draw agro)) the 2nd fake one despawns when he is about 70% health and this happens for a total of 4 waves, I think the 3rd he’s at 60% and the 4th is till he’s dead.

All in all, it’s really not a hard fight. Like most fights in PoTactics, this fight is won by fighting it smart. Hope some of this info helps and good luck.

Anyone have any idea what the spawn timetable is for Vallon? Seems like Tallon comes up regularly, but Vallon is impossible to find. Any idea?

Okay, my guild killed Tallon and Vallon Zek last night. I got the flags from the Astral Projection that pop'd after the mobs were dead. Tonight I'll go talk with the librarian and see what happens. In case anyone knows what these flags are for, please follow up to this post. I'm guessing that they are the same flags needed to enter the elemental planes (i.e. the same as given by Rallos Zek).

These two flags are part of the flags required for Tower of Solesk Ro. They do not replace the flags given by Rallos Zek for the elemental planes. To gain access to Sol Ro, you need Saryrn, MM, and these two. To get Saryrn you need Bertox.

There has been some confusion in the progression added by backflagging - so let me be much more specific.

You can get a checklist flag from Saryrn before getting Bertox - you cannot get Saryrn's flag. To get a checklist flag, you must have at least 1 person in the raid who has completed Bertox and post flagging. Tylis (the prisoner you encounter on your way to Saryrn) will not port you into the Keeper of Sorrows sub-event unless you have completed the Bertox flag. However, if 1 person in the raid has completed Bertox, that person can talk to Tylis and get the entire raid ported.

You can skip the Keeper of Sorrows and kill just Saryrn - but that is not terribly usefull unless you already have the Keeper of Sorrows flag.

With those qualifications - my original statement stands. To get Saryrn's flag, you need Bertox.

Alright - PoP has been out alongtime - Time to start posting some REAL info on these mobs...

Vallon Zek is kinda a tricky encounter. You start with JUST one. When he gets to aprroximatly 30 precent life he splits into 5 more (all with full life.) Of these "new" Vallons one is real. When that one gets to 30 percent life - he splts again. Anyrate, this goes on through 5 splits. Obviously the trick is to Identify the "real" Vallon Zak and not kill him til after you have killed the fake ones, or you end up with a TON of hard hitting level 70 mobs REAL quick.

Vallon Zek melees in the 200-800 range - i have seen double and triples no quads. He hits prety slow to begin with and IS slowable. Hes a NASTY NASTY AoE curse/DoT (cureable by radient cure 1.) Its soemthing in the order of 2k damge in 30 seconds or so. I've NOT parsed the DoT thats just a guess, but its NASTY.

This encounter is COMPLETLY trivial once you know how to do it. (Trivial as comparred to what you would expect in a tier 2 zone.) For example, any force capable of killing Xanamech, should be able to do this guy, ONCE you know the strat.

Theres your info, if noone has posted a strat I might ina few weeks.

Good info, one thing though, the splits arent level 70, they are much lower, hes goes from red at 70 to dark blue, not sure on exact level, just know its not 70. The key to the encounter is Identifying real VZ then offing the wusses whlie 1 tank and cleric or 2 keep the real VZ busy. Like alot of pop encounter, its a matter of skill and not trying to plow through the mob, nfc on whether they despawn at end or not havent tried that might suggest it next time we do him though.

Once he splits, all the new spawns are level 64. They conned white to me at 64, so that is confirmed.

Hehe - its even easier then this. Theres a way to not have to keep the real vallon "busy." Done right no need to kill more then 5 mobs. No the others don't despawn, but you don't leave the way you came in anyway. Once you kill vallon zek you can leave through the door near where he first spawns.

Many guilds will not share their mob encounter strategy or mob info always, Hep.
Also, most encounters in pop are not only the mob difficulty, also have many "special" things happen during fight, if u fight TT u will know.

whats this **** encounter like? AE? pure melee? rampage? flurry? etc.... some info to the fight might be a bit more useful than wether or not he had deformed kids that resulted in the creation of orcs.....

In the Tolkien universe that's how orcs were created. I don't think any EQ lore describes the creation of orcs that way. Orcs were in fact created by Rallos Zek, as were the ogres, giants, and goblins. They were all originally a great deal smarter until Rallos invaded the Plane of Earth and he and his minions were punished for it.
