I hated this encounter so much. So glad somebody got it.

Easily done with 24 toons on Bertox. Mostly PoP geared, far far from elemental or qvic or time... Tank was about a 13k buffed tank...didnt have any probs being a punching bag.... infusion vet award helps.. but fear can still land on you even with it.
As of this date, I have NOT killed AD. HOWEVER, I HAVE done the HoH trials, AND I HAVE killed LMM. As long as your raid has people that are HoHb flagged, you can be piggy-backed into the zone and complete the trials. Once you complete the trials, you CAN proceed toward the LMM fight without killing AD and you CAN still get the flag. But if you want to complete the planar progression, you NEED to do the AD event.
oh easy........most of PoP can be one grouped, only things I would see having a problem with is Rathe Council Coirnav Xeg RZtW and some(not all though) of the time gods. I've done most of lower tier and Fenny with 1-2 groups(one group of core players and boxing our alts)
Also easily taken down by Deadly Fury on Luclin(Veeshan) with 36. Our tank was Bagar, a 70 pally with 2.0 epic. We rocked his sauce on the first try and I won the Honorary Amulet he dropped. He also dropped the Honorary Longsword.
Very easy fight, most people popped Infusion of the Faithful on the pull and although I was feared twice at first I resisted everything else he threw at us. Dropped more than easily. Less than 5 minute fight.
Also, one of our raiders pulled the guards that now reside outside of the entrance and we were able to drop both of them with only two casualties, they had about the same amount of HP as AD I noticed, slightly more I'd say. One dropped Eye of Yelios or something.
Down today... Everyone but 2 lone chars survived... And the whole raid goes haywire and got into chaos soon after that... Needless to say, no flag or loot.. Ad's corpse decayed before we had a chance, sum1 snuck a peek a loot tho, 1hs and mantle dropped.......
have someone kite the adds for the most part, have clerics cast MGB HoT to counteract the DoT part of the fear spell
also just for back up due to the golumns have at least 2 65 paladains just sit around and root/stun them -------------------------------------------- Zama McDeath<Lords Of Prophecy> 66 Shaman on Sol Ro "gimped in mind not skill"
Just killed AD tonight in open raid on Fennin Ro and same thing happened, no body hailed and guy poofed after a few minutes so nobody got flag! Fkin awesome
September 19th 11:30pm 2004, AD was taken down on TP. The Planar projection was up for less than 7 minutes and NOONE got a flag before it depopped. He didnt fall through the floor. Noone looked at AD's body before it depopped. Just pure and simple screwed out of flagged'ness. Someone at Sony should be castrated for this. 248 player hours wasted (62 players x 4 hours from open raid recruitment till the kill) When you drop this guy just Zerg to the PP and get yourself flagged because he will depop SOON. and if you die... sorry about your luck but you aint gettin flagged.
Just have your raid force set a bit more of a priority on getting the flag, plenty of people die on raids and get their hail in. Of course, there are a lot of raids that decide that nobody should hail until someone says, and then it just depops.
If this was your first experience with this, expect to be very dissapointed with the rest of Planar Progression.
I just did a successful raid and killed AD. I hailed the PP but was unaware that you had to enter HoH through the tunnel. I gated and wasnt able to get back in.
Is it possible to zone into HoH from PoT and still get the flag or do I need to join another AD raid and zone into HoH from there?
You will either need to to the raid again or at least follow one in.
Also note that since you can get into HoH at lvl 62, you do not have to take on AD for planar progression anymore. However, if you want your idol to be upgraded, you either have to take out AD or do the alternate access quest.
The Planar Progression quest (to get to the elementals and beyond) does require you to kill AD. If you just wish to fight in HoH, then levelling to 62 is fine.
There's also a post further up from here that says you do not need to use that portal to complete the flag. If this is true, then the reason I could see why Diggorus is unable to enter HoH would be that he is below level 62 and has not yet completed a PoJ trial (another requirement for access to HoH).
The first time I did AD, rangers and druids were assigned to kite the golems. This was way back about a month after PoP came out. I remember that the kiters were not very effective, and the zerg force basically nuked AD dead while golems wreaked havok on the raid. I was lucky to get my flag the first time, on an open raid back when people were still mostly level 55-61. I did the encounter a couple times for fun right after that, with the same strategy - rangers and druids kite the golems. This never really seemed to work right.
Fast forward over a year later. We were doing some backflagging and I was assigned to be in the kite group. The instructions were to simply root the golems using level 65 pally root. Me and another pally sat back and kept the entire golem squad rooted. Two rangers snared the golems once we rooted them. It was surprisingly simple. Golems stayed rooted the entire duration of the fight. None of them resisted a single root or stun. We didn't get hit with any AoE from AD, nor did fear ever reach us.
So basically, now that everyone is level 65 and only does this raid to flag twinks or latecomers, don't bother to kite the golems. Get a pair of 65 pallies to root them in place, with a ranger or druid to run behind snaring them once rooted.

I was in a raid that eventually killed AD after 3 failed attempts. Originally the plan was to kite the golems, then it was to have a section of the raid there to specifically kill them.
Each failed attempt was not due to the golems though, it was due to the AoE DoT component of the Glass Roar fear spell. As with most raids, the decision in each case was to put all the healers on a chain for the MA. Then, as soon as the fear goes off, all of the DPS (and the CH cycle) very quietly....without any fuss....slowly....dies.
What interests me though was that the two times I was in groups to kite/kill the golems, I didn't get feared. Now it could be either that AD sometimes doesn't cast it, or it could me the range doesn't extend the pit, or that only players from the front are affected (my theory). In both cases, the wizzies and the rangers were the last standing though, which suggests it's a range issue.
I keep reading in posts and hearing in game that his effect is what wipes raids. His effect is trivial as long as you have 1 or 2 bards along for MR. This has already been explained so I won't go into further detail. In my experience, it is the GOLEMS who cause the wipes. When they spawn, they head straight for those attacking AD. The best strategy I have seen is to not kite these suckers, because that requires getting aggro from them, which is fairly difficult. Just root them where they stand and keep them AWAY from the raidforce. Also, it really works well to have a couple of pallies on the kite team. If all else fails and the minions get into the raidforce, their stuns/flash of light can help clear the mobs out. I'm also curious if anyone has ever tried throwing an extra bard at them... does Highsun or fading memories work? that would make them almost trivial

did this guy on a pickup raid suprisingly a couple of weeks ago... key is have 2-3 dru/nec grps there to kite the adds... we had the MT pull w/ a bow... waited for maybe 30 sec to engage... no CH chain... spammed quick heals... was like a 5-10 minute fight... AD dropped like a biyotch dropped Honorable Longsword and the shoulders along w/ 3 EP/1SP
Most of the time when i raid him there is a good kite group, the biggest issues is IF the MA gets feared. Always put a bard in the group with the MA and the raid should be fine. The Golems aren't very hard with a great kite group.
I read somewhere the spawn time on this is 3 days. Can anyone confirm this? I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere in this thread.
Also does anyone have a information for the the mobs in the cave after you kill Aerin'dar? What mobs, number, strategy for getting past them ... etc. Or they pretty easily dispatched with the raid force necessary to whack Aerin'dar? Can they see invis? ... any information here would be appreciated.

Okay here is the scoop on this Dragon. Pull it off of the arena thing that it is on.During the fight the adds will start to come alive and jump you..and...DON'T CLICK ON THE FLOOR..if you do the arena turns upside down..30+ raid average 63level got wiped on the first try.We went back and took AD down the second time..loot is good.Fun experience but i won't do it again anytime soon.
If you're worried about avoiding AD's dot (as a caster) I suggest getting right up on him. I've done the stay at max range thing and the DoT still lands. However, when hugging the big dude I noticed the DoT never landed. The very next raid I was on for RD helping others get theit flag we tried this and it worked.

Bards are melee, so they are going to be right next to AD, and about any serious AD raid will have a bard or three. And they are going to be singing their wonderful MR songs. So if you are close to AD, you are close to bards, and you are getting one heck of an MR boost.

Easy Pickins He is... Have Ranged DPS set up on the left side of room upon entry. Have MT pull towards entrance. After engagement, Ranged DPS does its job, all else assist MT. Chanters or whoever can, meeds to mezz or root the minions as they spawn. Kill those after you down the dragon. We did the whole thing with 42 peeps on Kane Bayle in approx 5 min. Zerg is ok but its the dps that kills the lizard and the root/mezz that holds back the minion adds.
I have been on a few AD raids, as we like to call him, and they all have been done pretty much the same way. and Is not really suggested above. some of which was suggested, such as your MGB heals, your pallys, High mr are musts. Also, your range attacks is what gets him, you inter raid, thus the heal crew and close melee attacks, are just to take up the agro. The range attacks, such as, AM3 rangers, Wizzys and Mages, any other classes who may have Nice high hitting range attacks. Leave the kitting to druids, they know this part well, and if you get a few druids in there, you shouldn't have a problem with the kitting. NOTE on the guards, if you kill Ad fast enough, not all of the guards will awaken. I have seen only a few awaken during the fight, and no they dont do so afterwards either. So again, this mob isn't all about ZERGING, its about how well that raid goes, How each group of Key players work together, and AND ALOT of DPS. I would have to agree with a few posts above, if you gather 72 lvl 60's to 62's who never took him down, to amount of 40 of lvl 65's who know the mob, I could see the lvl 65's being able to do it well. Its all bout knowing the game/class/mob plain and simple.
Was on raid today... killed AD with about 60 somethin people I hailed got flag but was killed on the way to HoH entrance and nobody bothered to notice except one cleric who already had the flag. course by then everybody had just run through the door and I died again because all the mobs were all at the exit. sigh....will have to do this again :(
He's got a nasty MR, if ur on the kiting team either stay well away from him or get BUFF MR, his fear is a pain and if ur kiting mobs and get pointed in the wrong direction u could get messed up and lose ur mob, and in turn screw the raid. i suggest u get enough kiters to sit next to their appropriate golem and have nothing targeted. once he awakens and smacks u snare and start just walking around... shouldnt be too hard. Just make sure u dont have DS, they summon from what i've heard (got pwned by the AEs ;p)
/ponders if the Crystal roar effect is fear w/ DoT and if fear breaks then the DoT breaks then wouldn't the AA fearless make you immune to the DoT as well?......though few classes have this AA i'm glad i'm one of them
This is the worst flagging encounter I have seen so far. This encounter was done twice by my guild and the planar projection despawns far too quickly Imho. I mean would have killed sony to say , hey lets give them a chance to be rewarded for their efforts at least? The last time we killed AD we had just started killing the adds which were being kited by our expert kite team ( they really are quite good !) and the planar projection had already despawned...WTH ??? We hadnt even finished rezzing in our dead from the AD fight! I have heard that looking at the corpse of AD cuts down the time the planar projection is up which, if it is true, is just plain stupid...anyways, once again, AD killed and NO flags for the people who killed him, just BS imho...

Projection vanishes if someone clicks the floor. The floor flips up (like a door) and the projection falls in. That's what happened. Use F8 and tell your raid to do the same.
just killed AD on our second attempt. i hailed the PP afterwards, and ran down the tunnel and clicked to zone into HoH, but it said "you lack the will to pass through this portal safely."
someone told me you need to be lvl 62 to zone in (i'm lvl 61), but if you had the flag it doesn't matter what lvl you are. also i have done no other trials, just this one.
your problem is most likely that you need to do the PoJ trials first. Executioner is the easiest try for that one. Then see the seer in PoK, you'll likely need to zone into HoH again to complete the flag so you may need to go back down that hall.
On the other hand if you had up horse buff or invis when hailing the projection you didn't get the AD flag. This can be checked with the seer in pok as well.
But your flagging will let you in zones you otherwise wouldn't be allowed to. Sounds like this is just a case of missing backflags.

Yes, since a wussy fire and ice dragon screwed and made the strongest dragon next to veeshan...
Uhm, no, Dozekar is the father of Kerafyrm. It's in the lore. I'm not sure who the mother is, but Vox and Nagafen never mated, they only wanted too, and that was forbidden.
If one were to get the preflag and then not zone into HoH, does that mean that they have to kill the dragon again or will the preflag be waiting for them? In other words, is the preflag no-rent?
If you mean, can you hail the planar projection for your flag and then not zone into HoH through PoV, yes, you can zone into HoH through PoV at any time in the future to complete the flag.
Zerging a mob is not always an easier win. A few groups of well-organized experienced players will beat a a whole raid of misguided players almost any day.
Aerin`Dar is a type of mob that needs to be taken down as quick as possible. His dot is the reason for this. It's very quick and painful. It would seem that a zerg force would be best for this, and it can be. It just depends on the dps of your zerg. Everyone in the raid is going to be taking damage from the dot and dying quickly without heals, whether you have aggro or not.
Either way, you still should make sure he's properly debuffed and slowed and have a nice loop setup on your MT or he's gonna kill your raid faster than his dot does.
With 20-40 people he's going to be a very tough kill for even the best of eq players. My guild takes him down regularly with 50-60 or so without problem, but he still cuts down a good chunk of the raid before he falls.
As with most mobs though, it's all about focused execution. Everyone should know what their part in the raid is.
I would guess, that the 80 people, were not as organized as the group of 20-40. The raid with few people, probably knew each other a lot better, and knew how to better work together.
Some times in the game, more people, doesn't make the raid better....
I've been in two successful, and one failed raid on this guy. Forget about any strategies with this one becasue the trick to beating him is very simple:
#1 - Beat his glass arse down as fast as possible #2 - Make sure at least one rezzer stays alive at the end
This is a 100% zerg encounter. Fill up the raid with all 72 people, have all melee start with offensive discs, grab a pally to DA pull, and have knights /disc sanct. The successful raids I was on had lots of nukers. They just emptied their mana bar on him and waited for rezzes.
We tried the enchanter/druid/ranger trick of ghetto mezzing adds by kiting them around the back of the cave, but unfortunately this didn't really work too well when AD's AoE swallowed their hitpoints faster than they could be healed. The only thing they provided was a few extra seconds before the guards made their way to the main raid.
Also note, once you kill AD and hail the elemental, you still have to travel down a tunnel to complete the flag proceess. Well, there are mobs down the tunnel that will crush you if you are not ready for them. I heard of one raid that killed AD and then the survivors died in the cave and no one was able to complete the flag.
Lastly, make sure at least one rezzer is alive at the end of the battle. On the Fennin server, one such raid ended with no rezzers alive at the end, and the pally sword dropped without any live pallies left to loot, or any clerics left to rez.

Why would you want to Zerg him? Use bards to minimalize the AE on the tanks and healers. There is a variety of ways you can do crwod control, and can use Wizards/Rangers/Mages to blast him out of the water from a distance. Classes with group heals are also a huge plus. Can easily be done with 35-40 people for a guild at his stage of the game.
Glad to hear you say that. I was looking at his ae stats and thinking that a -150 resistance check shouldn't be too bad with L65 bards with BoT drum. Should be able to push group members resists to the 500 level or so, and definitely in the 450+ range. I'd suspect everyone L65 would resist this rather well. I'm going to have to test this theory as soon as possible.
Thunderous drum of Karana (2.8 mod) + Instrument Mastery 3 (0.6 mod) = 3.4 mod...this combo with an AE resist song = +159 resists...so it basically cancels out the -MR check...then it's up to yer resists with MR buffs to finish the deal
