Make use of your Alliance/Collaboration spells. They should bump faction up one or two notches.

Dubious to Indifferent
Indifferent to Amiably

I've never known merchants to be KOS so this is most certainly possible.

Another note: When selling to Amber, she gives you a few bucks more than most other merchants (for crafted jewelery that is). For instance, if you combine a gold bar and Star Rose Quartz then sell to her, you'll make a few platinum whereas if you were to sell to another merchant, you'd actually lose out.

No price difference between "amiable" and "indifferent." Unsure of the difference, if any, between "apprehensive" and "indifferent."

Faction raising wont get better prices . It will allow you to buy from a vendor that wont sell to you at all if you raise it enuff. Better prices are obtained by raising Cha. As a chanter you have a spell for this that gets upgraded as you level. Also use items to raise it (opal encrusted steins are +25) Most vendors peak out on discounts at around 120 cha. A notable exception are the horse/lizard vendors.
