Just solo'd this as a lvl 70 ranger, 11k hp 1800 ac 2k atk, very easy. Tall mobs like those treants and giants you can stand back far enough tanking yet still use your bow so I just popped trueshot and took him down within seconds, and only fought 3 adds after even though there were a dozen other treants that looked like they spawned but died once he got to a certain %, not positive about that though. Staff dropped.
Got him to about 40% and loaded DN, BoT, PoM, Horror, and GoM on him right before adds spawned, ran them around while pet and dots finished him off (healed pet with Soul Orb so I'd get all adds agro)
By myself I was able to get him down to 54% health solo. With a 65 chanter with only one charm AA and 65 druid with no charm AAs we got him down to 12% on our second try and have hypothesized a way to take him down on our 3rd. Any class that can charm will be able to take him out through charming methods, How it works is you each keep recharming various zone mobs and sending them in. His hp is so gimp I've had one pet alone take him down to 60% health before the pet died. When I get 65 and enough AAs I intend to solo him. =)
Just gotta think outside the bard... P.S. Bards, to target him from outside that invisible barrier, use your SS helms. Charm a hobgoblin (you'll need fade to get one singled out) and toggle back to Deyid to set to attack. Good hunting =)
with 2 groups of standardly equiped 60-65 chars with only 2 clerics and no shms and one chanter he dropped like he was nothing ... then we took out his little friends ..only had one cleric death dropped the stick
During the battle you're going to get like 10-25 Trees of all kinds coming at you so expect to die. Just get rezzes in the GY and call it good. *All added trees are either equal or harder than the Gnarled Treants.
ok 2 grps all 60+ 2 clerics 1 chanter 1 sham rest for dmg then this is cake, Sel spawn no far from GY behind a stone, i wish to know of respawn time :)
Somebody posted somewhere else that he only hits for 350-ish. Not true, he hit me several times for 785. He doesn't have many hit points, but as many have stated before this doesn't matter because it only takes 20 or 30 seconds before the adds start to bash on you too.
He can not be snared or rooted. "Immune to changes in run speed."

2 groups went up, average lvl 59 (from 1 lvl 56 to 1 lvl 65, mostly 59 and 60, 1 enchanter included), we killed Deyid quick, in fact the spawned trees were able to attack us only after Deyid death, I counted only 4 or 5 trees, half of them mezzable, the other were tank mezzed by our melees, no death.
We did loot a screamstaff (MNK BST) 2HB dmg 29 dly 29, magic dmg 2 AC 5 wis 8 agi 8 hp 50 vs magic 15
We had only 1 monk in the raid, so it wasnt too difficult to give the loot.
Raid leader triggers Deyid to spawn and is ported up. 2 Group leaders can then say "I am ready" and their 2 full groups will port up. For us, Raid leader was a group leader so he jumped down and ported his group up. We took 12 ppl, but maybe if raid leader stays and 2 full groups trigger her, you could get 13. No more than 2 groups will be ported up, so plan things well. We buffed before going in, but Deyid doesnt attack until you move into trees so you could buff once up there.
Regardless... 8 add trees spawn as fight begins. They move in 2 waves. Waves are un-mezzable, un-snare/root-able. Didnt try slowing as we had other plans. Waves also can not be targetted until they trigger and add.
Wave 1 is 4 timed trees, nothing special, just a straight timer. You have roughly 5 mins before they arrive and all 4 trigger at once.
Wave 2 is 4 trees that add one at a time depending on Deyid's HPs. 50%, 40%, 30%, 20% were our estimates. As you hit each marker, 1 more tree adds.
Good thing is, Deyid has low HPs. Have your groups fight him as normal down to 50%. First add triggers. Have someone tank it with taunt, but dont do damage if you can avoid it. At 40% Second add triggers and wizzy should MB. The MB will take Deyid out. Quick loot, then jump off. Your results may vary depending on MB. We could have thrown MB earlier, but wanted to be sure he dropped. Estimated HPs on Deyid were like 25k tops.... probably less.
When Deyid drops, all 4 trees in wave 2 are triggered. They summon, but if you've done things right you havent damaged them so they wont use it. They dont leave the plateau. Jump down and zone. If anyone is summoned, just bide your time for Graveyard to do it's thing.
Yeah, they do come off the plateu, but not very far, they don't agro whole zone...watched them chase raid party, once raid party RIPed, they were gone...
They most certainly will come off of the plateau. That is a fact I can personally attest to. And they're also FAST. Anyone know the respawn on the quest giver?
If you head west I believe from the zone in, you should see a very tall hill. If he is up, he'll be on top the hill. The way to get up, you can only take a max of 12 people. Then below the hill there is a Human Female NPC that is scared and needs help. Talk to her and she will eventually spawn both groups on top of the hill with him.
He hits 785 max, fairly slow, summons, and he spawns a lot of other tree's that cannot be rooted, snared, charmed, or mezzed. Doesn't seem to have much more HP than the normal treants in the zone though.
If you fail to kill him the NPC that spawns you up, doesn't spawn within 2 hours, unsure of respawn time. Just sat around for 2 hours and she never spawned.
